Abstract Before taking up their new assignments in September 1918, Harry Rayne and D. R. Crampton met in Nairobi with Brigadier E. H. Llewellyn, the commandant of the KAR, to report on the recent operations against the Turkana and to discuss the future administration of the district. Metal objects related to daily life and work that have been excavated in Lubrza, offer a glimpse at the typical activities of inhabitants of the medieval tower castle. Items related to kitchen activities have been recovered, such as fragments of tripod cooking cauldrons, along with personal equipment of everyday use (knives, crampons, fire steel), carpentry tools (auger, hammer), agricultural tools (sickles, harrow teeth), and probably furrier tools (awl). The whetstone discovered at the site could be used for care and maintenance of tools with cutting edges.
