This thesis explores the Crazy Horse Memorial orientation film and its rhetorical claim to represent Lakota values in the rhetorically contested Black Hills of South Dakota. Walter Fisher’s concept of narrative rationality is used to analyze the informal logic of the memorial film narrative. The Crazy Horse Memorial is seen as a response to Mt. Rushmore’s colonialist legacy. Analysis shows that the Crazy Horse Memorial actually has much in common with Rushmore’s legacy of Euro-American colonialism. Retention practices in the U.S. Army face an incentive problem. The amount of work that officers undertake to retain a soldier should be based in part on those officers' expectations of accruing benefits. In this paper, I analyze Army National Guard retention rates to see if the possible mobility of a soldier (which affects his leadership's expected benefits) is systematically related to the probability he will be retained. Abstract:

Syftet med uppsatsen är att analysera hur det moderna samhället i västvärlden ser på och pratar om sex och kärlek. Jag tittar på hur de kombineras i den så kallade kärleksideologin. Objektet för min analys är filmen Crazy, stupid, love från 2011. Jag använder exempel från filmen för att observera vissa kulturella aspekter som vi har i västvärlden kring kärlek och sex. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten för uppsatsen är det socialkonstruktivistiska perspektivet (Barlebo Wenneberg 2001) och modern filmteori (Andersson och Hedling 1995).
