Abstract:
Producing an article from a thesis is a topic that arises before or after completing a master’s or doctoral dissertation. Publishing an article using thesis data before completing the thesis can call into question the originality of the thesis. It is more appropriate to publish after the thesis has been completed. The publication after completing the thesis enhances the researcher’s and thesis’s visibility. However, when producing an article from the thesis, it is necessary to indicate that it was created from the thesis. Additionally, if the advisor has contributed significantly during the article writing process, they must be identified as the second author. Producing an article from a thesis is not just a copy-paste and is more difficult than anticipated. Editors and reviewers easily recognize an article that has been hastily converted. Therefore, an intensive effort is required when converting a thesis into an article.

Abstract:
As we know that abstract has an important role in the research article. Besides, it has its own organizational framework. Every researcher must create an abstract after the research project was completed. This article aims to identify the rhetorical moves of English abstract articles on undergraduate theses at STKIP PGRI Pacitan. The analysis guideline was based on Hyland's theory (2004). The data were collected from 20 abstracts of published journal articles. The results revealed that all moves were appeared on the students’ abstract organization. However, it was found that the degree of occurrence or the frequency appearance was differed in every moves. The data informed that moves 3 and moves 4 were found in all students’ thesis abstracts. Moves 5 appeared in 12 students’ thesis abstracts. Then, moves 1 appeared in 8 students’ thesis abstracts and moves 2 appeared in 19 students’ thesis abstracts. The findings also revealed that there were many rhetorical organizations generated by the occurrences of moves and steps in students' abstracts. The variation moves that created by students depend on the students’ writing ability. This study can be a bridge to fill the gap in improving the quality of students’ writing, especially about abstract article.

The thesis is the formulation that the legislator creating casuistic legal norms gives artificial intelligence room to create its own norms as a procedure of autonomous choice (main thesis). The background for the consideration is the rule prohibiting discrimination against persons with disabilities in a pandemic triage situation (COVID-19). The considerations are divided into four parts, derived from the European Commission’s classification of risks regarding the regulation of artificial intelligence. Each of the four parts of the deliberations is illustrated by a thesis from four judgments of the Federal Constitutional Court, one judgment for each part of the deliberations. The framework for the deliberations is the German legal order. The article is summarised with final conclusions.

Abstract:
The strength of audience awareness has a great influence on the content selection, expression and writing techniques of the article. Therefore, the cultivation of the students’ audience awareness in writing becomes one of the key factors that determine the qualities of the students’ compositions. This thesis conducts a questionnaire and interviews on college students from the four grades of Nanchang Normal University in order to reveal the college students’ cognitive status and attitude of audience awareness. Based on the status quo, this thesis analyzes the possible causes of this situation from two aspects: the teachers’ carelessness on audience awareness and overly concern with writing skills, and the students’ shortage of language ability and logical thinking ability and their excessive attention to writing skills. For these reasons, this thesis proposes corresponding countermeasures: in the English writing class, the reader's awareness should be emphasized; the theme of the article needs to be much closer to life; students are supposed to create imaginary readers in writing; the method of readers' feedback should be fully utilized. The use of these strategies will effectively help college students cultivate audience awareness in English writing.

Full text
Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
For bereaved parents the death of a child is the most tragic of all deaths. When a child dies, parents lose not only their child, but all their child represents, such as a future together and descendants. Life as they assumed it would be ends with the child’s death and the role of parent changes to that of bereaved parent. A child’s death seems to subvert the natural order. Parental grieving can be, therefore, the most devastating, the longest lasting, and the most far-reaching in its effects of all forms of grief. Although much has been written about grieving infant death, adolescent suicide and violent death, information is sparse on grieving the death of a young adult child from cancer. One of the reasons for this is that the incidence of cancer in the 18 to 25-year-old group is very rare. This thesis aims to address the gap with a creative nonfiction memoir titled Sing no sad songs and an exegesis titled Grieving the death of a young adult child from cancer. The creative work is a memoir of my own experience in dealing with the diagnosis, illness and death from cancer of my 23-year-old daughter, Rebecca. The exegesis consists of six chapters which provide a context for Sing no sad songs. Chapter one comprises a critical reflection on the inspiration and influences that informed my writing, the process I used, and issues that arose during the drafting. Chapter two contextualises Sing no sad songs within the findings of psychological and sociological theories of grief. Chapter three elaborates on these findings with an examination of spiritual perspectives on grief. Chapter four analyses the language traditionally used to describe grief and bereavement in Western societies. It concludes with an examination of the human affinity with story telling and the way in which narrative can be used as a tool to help the bereaved assimilate their grief into their changed life story. Chapter five is an analysis of creative nonfiction and examines my rationale for incorporating creative nonfiction techniques in my memoir. Chapter six concludes the exegesis. -- Abstract.

Abstract:
The diploma thesis deals with problems of depression in older people. Mainly the work is focused on identifying and analyzing the role of nurses in screening for depression in older people in primary care, acute care, long-term care and home care. This thesis was focused on theoretical direction and was used the method of design and demonstration. In this thesis was set one main goals with five research questions. The main goal was to identify and analyze the role of nurses in screening for depression in the elderly. RQ 1: What is the role of the nurse in screening for depression in the elderly? RQ 2: What is the role of the nurse in the primary care in screening for depression in the elderly? RQ 3: What is the role of the nurse in screening for depression in hospitalized patients in acute care? RQ 4: What is the role of the nurse in screening for depression in seniors in long-term and home care? RQ 5: What rating scales and methods are used in screening for depression in the elderly? The thesis introduce the concept of depression. The following are specified the causes of and the important factors that affect depression in the elderly. It also deals the differences in the clinical symptomatology of depression in old age. It explains possibilities and various barriers in the diagnosis of depression. Another chapter introduces complete geriatric examination, diagnostic classification systems, possible screening methods and scales for detection of depression in the elderly population. It also deals methods of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment and its possible complications associated with older age. By reason of increased suicide rate caused by depressive disorder the issue of suicidal behavior in the elderly is introduced. The next chapter deals with the nursing process, which is used by nurses in practice. It consists of the evaluation of the patient's health condition, making nursing diagnosis, creating nursing plan and subsequent implementation and evaluation. The nursing process is also needy for providing quality care. The nursing process in the stage of nursing diagnosis, introduces possible nursing diagnosis for a patient suffering from depression, which are based on the latest classification. Finally is described the role of nurses in screening for depression in the elderly in different health facilities and their contribution to the timely evaluation of depression in the elderly. This chapter introduces the role of nurses, nursing screening and collaboration with a physician. The role of nurses in screening for depression in different medical facilities is based on the first phase of the nursing process of assessment. On the basis of objective and subjective information, the nurse will assess the overall health and mental condition of the patient. Primarily, it was investigated what is the role of the nurse in screening for depression. On the basis of content analysis and synthesis it was necessary to used and processed domestic and foreign literature. Abstract:
The essence of this article is interviewing in cross-cultural settings. Cross-cultural interviews involve an interviewer and an interviewee who come from different backgrounds and have different experiences. They may not share common assumptions about meaning and both must work to establish understanding of what they mean by what they say. Usually, the person interviewing comes from a literate tradition and is conducting the interview to create a record that they or others will analyze and reference in their work. The person interviewed often is from a group whose primary reference is their oral tradition and narratives based on personal experience. In cross-cultural settings the interviewee or narrator is creating narrative from his or her oral tradition and personal experiences, while the interviewer is working to make a record for reference after the recording session. This article also discusses the ways of communicating in cross-cultural context. An analysis of cross-cultural interviews concludes this article.

The evolution and the various stages of women's history is the essence of this article. This article records women's history on a more personal way. Over the years, Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies has published four special issues on women's oral history, which serve as chronological markers for the development of women's oral history. The author of this article built up her own methodology in order to record the oral history of women. The early days of carrying out women's oral history were exhilarating. The focus was laid upon women who formed the marginalized of society. Miners' wives, farmers' wives who remembered the Dust Bowl, even a single woman homesteader were interviewed and it was their experiences which were accounted for in recording women's history. A common pattern was to use excerpts from completed interviews to create public programs. A search for women's culture, words, feminism, and the problem of representation concludes this article.

Abstract:
In the past few years there have been many blogs, short articles, and comments through various media about stimulus without debt and helicopter money. This chapter reviews some of these writings and reacts to them. It begins with an article written decades ago by Milton Friedman presenting a helicopter money parable. Stimulus without debt is similar to helicopter money in some ways but differs in others. It’s similar because in both the helicopter money parable and the stimulus-without-debt plan the population receives newly created money as a transfer that can be kept, not a loan that must be repaid. Stimulus without debt differs from helicopter money because stimulus without debt creates checks and balances by assigning specific roles to specific institutions in its implementation; and because Friedman dropped helicopter money on a fully employed economy whereas stimulus without debt should only be applied to an economy in recession. These articles and blogs about stimulus without debt and helicopter money indicate that the proposal has made headway in receiving attention and some support.

These articles highlight the movement of ideas, people, policies, and practices across various cultures and societies and explore the relations, connections, and spaces created by these movements. The articles in this volume explore interconnected historical phenomena in Asia, North and South America, and Europe from the late seventeenth century to the late twentieth century. These articles make clear that historical phenomena such as soccer and exile cannot be contained and explained within just one national setting. This volume also offers a theoretical article that provides insights into the concept of intercultural transfer studies and its relationship to comparative and global history. and an article that surveys the state of research in the field of transnational crime.

Abstract:
The chapter begins by noting that the prohibition of the use of force is the quintessential ius cogens rule of an erga omnes character. The same holds true for Common Article 1 of the Geneva Conventions. Both norms create third-party rights and obligations. However, structural deficits in the international legal order often hinder their effective enforcement. Moreover, recent state practice challenges certain obligations stemming in particular from the prohibition on the use of force. This chapter analyzes and compares the normative framework of both rules and examines recent contestations in state practice. It concludes by exploring the question as to what extent both rules reflect community interests or are still grounded on a reciprocal bilateral basis related to states’ self-interest.

Abstract:
Human resource management of equal employment opportunity (EEO) and workforce diversity involves the development and implementation of employer policies and practices that not only create a diverse workplace, but foster a supportive culture to enable individuals from different backgrounds to be able to work together productively to achieve organizational goals. Ensuring EEO, and the creation of a work environment that capitalizes on the benefits of a diverse workforce, are of growing importance for organizational effectiveness. Most employees around the globe work in organizations with a diversity and multicultural dimension to their business. This article aims to discuss the HRM perspective regarding EEO and diversity. Towards this end, it defines core concepts, and then examines labor force shifts and other rationales for managing EEO/diversity. It concludes by discussing ‘how’ firms are managing these issues. Future research implications are integrated at the end of relevant sections.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses how the comedy of bastardy can be seen in The Alchemist and Bartholomew Fair, examining how Jonson plays on the tension between possession and dispossession, and the ambiguity between folly and madness. While Jonson makes fun of the city ‘professionals’, and to be possessed is to be melancholic; to be a fool, for him, is a liberation. The city helps to create and construct different identities. In his article ‘Jonson’s Metempsychosis’, Harry Levin suggests that ‘Possibly Mosca’s interlude was written before the rest of the play, like the puppet-show in Bartholomew Fair.’ The second part of this chapter develops from this suggestion, examining the similarities and differences between the two scenes and their importance in the two plays. It argues how the puppet embodies the characteristics of Volpone’s bastards.

Abstract:
Landscapes or built environments contain distinct lessons about material culture and human life. Land that shows the effects of human activity constitutes material culture, but is often less clearly bounded than other cultural objects and it is also more vividly intertwined with nature. This article explores the landscape garden as material culture. It exists everywhere that the earth and social communities meet: fields opened by deforestation, piles of sludge in the ruins of old manufacturing centres, empty lots in cities, windmills along a ridge, and others. These meeting places of nature and human labour are, like other forms of material culture, created for social purposes and designed to have value. In landscape history, there have been a number of schools of thought, touching on this issue. This article cites examples from gardens across the world especially Europe to elaborate on the importance of landscape gardens as material culture and also draws a similarity between the two which concludes this article.

Abstract:
This article focuses on early shipbuilding in the Eastern Mediterranean provided by shipwreck and terrestrial excavations. The study of the construction of early watercraft is mainly in the form of artistic representation. Egypt is the largest depository of early watercraft. The details of Near Eastern ships are painted on the Theban tomb of Kenamun. Hull remains from Late Bronze Age shipwrecks excavated off the coast of Turkey provide archaeological evidence for Levantine ships. The only pre-classical Aegean shipwreck to be excavated and studied by nautical archaeologists is that of a trading vessel, that sank on the southwestern Turkish coast. Greek builders strengthened their hulls transversely with internal framing comprised of preassembled “made-frames” alternating with top-timbers. The ancient seafaring cultures of the eastern Mediterranean each developed their own unique set of solutions to create elegant, sturdy, and capable boats and ships well suited to their environments and intended purposes.

AbstractThis is an introductory article to the topics more widely discussed in the PhD thesis from the same author. Following a short introduction and the motivations for researching innovative gamma-ray detector systems, this article describes a novel 85 dB dynamic range per channel integrated circuit for SiPM charge signal readout, named GAMMA, and the custom FPGA-based readout system. Experimental results presented in this article, obtained using a planar array of NUV-HD SiPMs, encompass the single-photon sensitivity achieved by GAMMA ASIC and the 2.6% resolution at the 137Cs peak emission energy of 662 keV, when using GAMMA ASIC to collect current signal from a detector array that is coupled to a LaBr3 scintillation crystal. Pixellation of the detector matrix allows for coarse position of interaction sensitivity in the scintillation crystal using machine learning reconstruction algorithms.

Timmer, Dick. "5. Limitarianism: Pattern, Principle, or Presumption?" In Having Too Much. Open Book Publishers, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.11647/obp.0338.05.

Full text
Abstract:
In this article, I assess the prospects for the limitarian thesis that someone has too much wealth if they exceed a specific wealth threshold. Limitarianism claims that there are good political and/or ethical reasons to prevent people from having such ‘surplus wealth’, for example, because it has no moral value for the holder or because allowing people to have surplus wealth has less moral value than redistributing it. Drawing on recent literature on distributive justice, I defend two types of limitarian principles of justice. First, limitarian midlevel principles draw on the limitarian thesis to specify normative commitments for guiding institutional design and individual actions. Second, the limitarian presumption draws on that thesis to specify what a just allocation of wealth requires under epistemic constraints. Such a presumption says that without substantive reasons to the contrary, we should regard a distribution as unjust if some people’s wealth exceeds the limitarian threshold. Furthermore, I will argue that we must reject a possible but implausible interpretation of limitarianism as an ideal distributive pattern. Yet both as a midlevel principle and as a presumption, limitarianism can play an important role in theorizing about justice in the real world.

AbstractThe loss of employment is an event that interferes with the lives of everyone affected, causes stress, and can have a negative impact on their health. Meta-analyses show that unemployed people have a worse state of health and a mortality risk that is at least 1.6 times higher than those who are employed. Unemployment is associated with a lower mental and physical health status and, in some cases, with riskier health behavior (particularly tobacco consumption). There are two important theses on the role of social networks in this context: (1) Unemployment changes social networks so that they no longer fulfill their positive function for health (mediator thesis); (2) Unemployment leaves social networks unchanged and persons with resource-rich networks suffer less from health losses due to unemployment (moderator thesis). This article provides an overview of empirical analyses on the topic of networks and unemployment.

Abstract:
The demands of the contemporary society revealed the necessity to create a legislative framework that would be able to provide concrete solutions to ensure the balance between professional and private life. To achieve this, it was emphasized at the European Union level that workers ought to gain from suitable policies that would motivate them to keep their jobs or go back to work after carrying out responsibilities imposed by their personal lives, such as being parents or family caregivers. The European Unions legislation has made it clear that in order to achieve these aims, it is crucial to both create new worker rights and reinforce and unify the ones that already exist, such as paid parental leave and maternity leave. In the studies conducted so far has been revealed that appropriate measures will create the premises for achieving a high-level occupancy in the labor market and, at the same time, workers will be able to provide care for children and other family members. This article contains the analysis of the legal measures adopted by the European Union regarding the caregiver leave, motivated absence in case of family emergencies and the possibility of requesting flexible work programs. Romania, as a state member, enacted Law No. 283/2022 in order to adhere to these principles. This law changed the legal framework that governs employees and public offici

Abstract:
The suspension of administrative acts requires proving the existence of those circumstances that are likely to create a serious doubt as to the legality of the administrative act and the need to temporarily remove the enforceability of the act in order to prevent imminent harm, which is analysed in concrete terms. The seat of the matter regarding the suspension of the execution of administrative acts by the court is Articles 14 and 15 of the Law no. 554/2004 on administrative litigation. Practical work in the field of law creates the prospect of analysing legal institutions in novel hypotheses, as well as in their interaction. For example, is it possible to file two applications for the suspension of the same administrative act, based on Articles 14 and 15 of the Administrative Proceedings Act No. 554/2004? In our opinion, the answer is positive, but also nuanced. The aggrieved persons justify a procedural interest in filing both claims, first of all, given their different effects over time. Moreover, Articles 14 and 15 can be used several times on different grounds, since Article 14 para. 6 also applies accordingly to Article 15 of the Act. The research conducted is accompanied by relevant case law, analytical insights and several conclusions.

Abstract:
This article is an ongoing research and takes Tantra (Saraswati, 1981) to present an academic project that refers to the expansion of knowledge, understanding the body of an object through as a supreme shelter link. On the one hand, the female element represents the a whole as the beginning of everything and the supreme power of creation. On the other hand, the male element is associated with transcendence.Similar to designing, from the perspective of tantrism, the union of the two energies - feminine and masculine – is crucial and for this reason, the care of the object's body is essential.Phenomenologically, as Feuerstein (2005) states the tantric point of view does not deny the world of experiences, but views positively the culture of potential intrinsic psychophysical body and mind. This thesis comprises not only time and space, but also the external factors that cross-fertilize reality and, for this reason, enter into design process. In this sense, objects’ body is full of organs, but visible only to designers, requiring guidance from a master. In art, in early 20th century, there were similarities between the abstractions of Paul Klee, Piet Mondrian or Robert Delaunay. After that, Neo Tantrism emerged in the 1960s with the indian artist K. C.S. Paniker (1911-1977).In design, it seems Tantra contest divisions between opposites by teaching that everything is respected and incorporated, which includes the concept of marginal in society. For instance, Bauhaus (Germany, 20’s), Memphis (Italy, 60’s), Droog Design (Netherlands, 90’s) seem to represent it, as this is more about change in the world, via the body, rather than transcendence of it. In design Tantra can be understood as a moment of reflection on the nature of design and an occasion to continually think and get to know design, for instance, a process-oriented process. A reality that enhances scenario hypotheses, but without reaching a productive result. This ongoing research is non-interventionist and interventionist. The non-interventionist phase consists of the analysis and interpretation of concepts, contents from the past as well as visual imagery of Tantra. The interventionist phase resides on a pilot project. Thus, thinking about method in design means thinking about a phenomenological process such as interpretation. A path that is inductive like self-production, deductive like engineering, abductive intelligently linking hypotheses through experience, and also intuitive, imaginative, inventing, telling the story of material culture in another way. An alternative that needs to die and to live again, a process that, between analysis, intuition and experience, appeals to the dialectical reflection of design as an interlocutor between the individual and material culture in order to create sustainability.

Abstract:
In the dynamic realm of tourism, destinations grapple with fluctuating economic conditions, natural disasters, and the fickle nature of consumer preferences. The clustering of small businesses has emerged as a strategic solution to enhance resilience and sustainability within this volatile context. This article investigates the process of clustering—where geographically proximate firms offering complementary services unite to surmount challenges like limited resources and market competition. The exploration includes an analysis of the multifaceted benefits and potential drawbacks of clustering, insights from successful case studies, and the introduction of a novel model to foster effective business collaboration within tourism clusters. A specific emphasis is placed on small businesses and social enterprises, underscoring their contribution to economic innovation and community development through sustainable tourism practices. Despite the numerous advantages of clustering, such as increased visibility, market access, and shared innovation, the article recognizes the inherent challenges: trust-building, cooperation, competitive dynamics, and resource allocation. Showcasing learning from the Experience Mekong Collection in Southeast Asia, a curation of small responsible travel businesses and social enterprises in the six member countries of the Greater Mekong Subregion (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, and the Guangxi and Yunnan provinces in PR China), the discussion accentuates the strategic importance of stakeholder engagement, transparent governance structures, and capacity building. The article argues for a model of collaboration that prioritizes trust, coordination, and shared resource utilization to transcend competitive barriers and resource limitations. In conclusion, clustering represents a beacon of resilience and sustainability for small businesses in tourism destinations, offering a pathway to collective competitiveness and enhanced customer experiences. The synthesized model and highlighted case studies provide valuable frameworks for future research and practical applications in tourism management. Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to investigate the long run consequences of graduate’s retention by university towns and cities. It investigates hypothesis that the inflow of students to the university towns and cities among who dominate women, and their prosper to remain after graduation, cause surpluses of young women. The analysis presented in the article was conducted for Opole which is one of university towns in Opolskie Voivideship (region) in Poland. In the article, there were combined data applied – the results of the research was conducted in Opole among students and a range on statistic database from Opolskie Voivideship. The research has been conducted in 2016/2017 among more than 700 students of last academic years from all universities located in Opole. The data origins from Poland Statistics aggregated to the poviats of Opolskie region which are equivalent LAU-1. The most important findings proved that inflow of students to the towns and cities may create a huge demographic impact on the urban areas as some graduates remain in the university towns and cities after graduation. The most important is the fact that there are mostly younger women in working age population which affects the demographic potential of the urban area.

Four themes were identified. The themes are as follows: (a) identify the correct type of graph to explore the center and variability of one quantitative variable; (b) realize data has its own expressed shape; (c) lose concrete identifiers; and (d) create bins and count individual values. These themes will add to the current knowledge of students' difficulty with interpreting and describing histograms. This knowledge can help teachers prepare activities to promote understanding of histograms.

Abstract:
The article is an overview of the journalism – PR – advertising relationship at the terminological, empirical-analytical and practical levels. It traces the state of the discussion of these correlations in the post-soviet media such as Ukraine. The study describes that domesticating the importance of the appropriate partnership between the three communication technologies. The thesis is that journalism, advertising and PR create a mutual connection that takes place in an atmosphere of PR and advertising permissiveness and deepens with the development of digitalization, Social network development. The present research is based on a comprehensive approach. The inductive and deductive methods are adopted to discuss theoretical materials, and the interdisciplinary research method is used to detect PR-specific features as a philosophy of a new journalism project. The interpretive approach, usually employed to analyze media text as a complex synthetic structure, was also taken into consideration. The analytical method application identified the modern means of substantiating the ideological, esthetical and informative value of brand journalism and spin doctor. The innovative character of modern media as a behavioral strategy in the advertising and PR industry consists in the fact that it is a form of creative production and behavior rather than adapting a specific communication situation. The article examines the main directions of contemporary interactions between PR, advertising and journalism as a media content creation. In this context, it is asserted that advertising, journalism and PR activities can contribute to the creation of media content. At some point, good media content is achieved not only as a result of this competition but also from the correlation between PR, advertising and journalism.

The point to consider is that the downstream countries Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (and possibly Afghanistan in the future) use a lot of water for irrigation, and therefore these countries are the ones most in need of an accurate forecast of the volume of water for the upcoming season. An accurate forecast of the volume of water on the seasonal scale is necessary for better planning of the structure of crops, and subsequently water use in the irrigation of crops. An acceptable solution to this challenge is the construction of an empirical time series model that will be used to predict the seasonal flows of the Amu Darya River to improve the planning and management of water resources in downstream countries. This article considers three important discharge time series in the larger Amu Darya Basin. These include the Kerki Gauge on the Amu Darya, Darband Gauge on Vaksh River and Khorog Gauge on Gunt River. Long-term time series from these stations are available for the study of the development and implementation of time-series based models for the prediction of discharge in the basin. At this stage, we attempt to demonstrate a proof-of-concept which can in a second step convince stakeholders to share such type of discharge data operationally for more effective water allocation between sectors and countries. All our work was carried out with the quantitative tools R/RStudio and QGIS. It can serve as a stepping stone for more complex forecasting models in the future.

Fernandez-Stark, Karina. Innovation and Competitiveness in the Copper Mining Global Value Chain: Developing Local Suppliers in Peru. Inter-American Development Bank, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0003814.

Full text
Abstract:
Peru is the second largest producer and exporter of copper in the world. However, the countrys sector has weak background linkages and the emergence of innovative suppliers able to provide high-value products and services is still incipient. This article explores the opportunities to leverage Perus international positioning in the mining industry to foster the development and innovation capacities of local suppliers. Based on data analysis and interviews with local industry stakeholders, this research--which uses the global value chain framework--finds that the incorporation of a larger number of high-value local suppliers into the copper value chain is limited by weaknesses in the national innovation system. In addition to this, it notes that the national copper policy places little emphasis in the need to innovate and add value. In order to generate a critical mass of strong and innovative suppliers, Peru must create solid institutions and coordination mechanisms to develop the sector. At the same time, it should favor the insertion of domestic suppliers into the value chain and incentivize these to innovate and scale. The article presents recommendations in these areas, as well as best practices from other mining countries that have successfully overcome these challenges.

Abstract:
The study of architecture, urban planning and design at technical universities primarily offers a rational, technology- and practice-oriented education. The offer of a conceptual and socially critical approach to creation is only represented to a low degree. Students create projects that take into account the latest technical, environmental and architectural trends, but receive few assignments or conceive their designs as specific philosophical statements critically examining current social and political phenomena, whether on a local or trans-regional scale. By implementing courses and seminars with an emphasis on various visual media, students are given the opportunity to analyse issues in spatial themes and statements that they cannot apply in standard architectural design. The authors examine alternative methods in architectural education at technical universities involving intermedia visual arts. They investigate different forms of teaching in selected universities in the Central European context. The article is supplemented with case studies from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Flandreau, Marc. Pari Passu Lost and Found: The Origins of Sovereign Bankruptcy 1798-1873. Institute for New Economic Thinking Working Paper Series, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.36687/inetwp186.

Full text
Abstract:
Verdicts returned by modern courts of justice in the context of sovereign debt lawsuits have upheld a ratable (proportional) interpretation of so-called “pari passu” clauses in debt contracts which, literally, promise creditors they will be dealt with equitably. Such verdicts have given individual creditors the right to interfere with payments to others, in situation where the sovereign had failed to make proportional payments. Contract originalists argue that this interpretation of pari passu clauses has no historical foundation. Historically, they claim, pari passu clauses never granted individual creditors a unilateral right to block payments to other bondholders assenting to a government debt restructuring proposal. This article shows this claim is incorrect. Drawing on novel archival research, it argues that pari passu clauses find one potent historical origin in the operation of a now forgotten sovereign bankruptcy tribunal, the London stock exchange. Under the law of the stock exchange, departure from ratable payments did create a unilateral right for individual creditors to interfere with sovereign debt discharges. In fact, ratable distributions provided the touchstone for the stock exchange sanctioned sovereign debt discharge system. What is more, sophisticated contract drafters availed themselves of the logic. The result was a weaponization of pari passu clauses, and their inscription into sovereign debt covenants in the 19th century. The article concludes that the modern debate on the role of clauses in sovereign debt contracts cannot be held without thorough reconsideration of the history of sovereign bankruptcy.

Rudyk, Myroslava. JOURNALISM STANDARDS AND BLOGGING: PROFESSIONAL PRINCIPLES OF WORKING WITH INFORMATION IN THE BLOGOSPHERE. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2022.51.11398.

Full text
Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of journalistic standards in the blogosphere, i.e. the extent to which bloggers adhere to professional principles in their work with information. The popularity of the blogosphere has spread not only to journalists but also to influential people, as well as amateur bloggers, who have created their own platforms to distribute useful or entertaining content. However, not all bloggers work on a professional basis, which creates many opportunities to spread misinformation and manipulate consciousness. Standard approaches to working with information, which have historically been developed in journalism, help to avoid hassles, create professional principles, which ultimately distinguishes journalism from amateur media. In total, researchers distinguish 6 standards of journalism: accuracy, promptness, reliability, completeness of information, the balance of opinions, separation of facts from comments. In the modern world, the approach to defining the concept of “media” has changed significantly. At one time, only professional communicators and traditional media could apply for this status. However, with the development of democratic processes, pluralism of opinion, mass internetization, globalization, and the spread of information beyond the borders of a particular country or locality, alternative sources of information began to appear. Domestic processes of media privatization and oligarchization also contributed to this, when the media became not only repeaters of information, but also a component of the media business and big politics, thus losing the trust of the audience. That is why the popularity of bloggers as independent communicators, opinion leaders, experts in various fields has grown. This was facilitated by the rapid development of information technology, the ability to quickly transmit information of any content, as well as no need for professional training in the field of media. The popularity of the blogosphere is due to the fact that with the new role of a blogger, everyone is given the opportunity to communicate publicly through the use of previously unknown and inaccessible tools. As for professional standards of working with information, bloggers mostly lack the reliability of the information, the balance of opinions and judgments, the separation of facts from comments. And the subjective author’s position is an advantage, giving the blogger an individual way of self-expression.

Abstract:
The article deals with the ways in which social networks and the blogosphere influence the formation and implementation of a PR campaign. Examples from the political sphere (election campaigns, initiatives), business (TV brands, traditional and online media) have revealed the opportunities that Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, YouTube and blogs promote in promoting advertising, ideas, campaigns, thoughts, or products. Author blogs created on special websites or online media may not be as much of a tool in PR as an additional tool on social media. It is noted that choosing a blog as the main tool of PR campaign has both positive and negative points. Social networks intervene in the sphere of human life, become a means of communication, promotion, branding. The effectiveness of social networks has been evidenced by such historically significant events as Brexit, the Arab Spring, and the Revolution of Dignity. Special attention was paid to the 2019 presidential election. Based on the analysis of individual PR campaigns, the reasons for successful and unsuccessful campaigns from the point of view of network communication, which provide unlimited multimedia and interactive tools for PR, are highlighted. In fact, these concepts significantly affect the effectiveness of the implementation of PR-campaign, its final effectiveness, which is determined by the achievement of goals. Attention is drawn to the culture of communication during the PR campaign, as well as the concepts of “trolls”, “trolling”, “bots”, “botoin industry”. The social communication component of these concepts is unconditional. Choosing a blog as the main tool of a marketing campaign has both positive and negative aspects. Only a person with great creative potential can run and create a blog. In addition, it takes a long time. In fact, these two points are losing compared to other internet marketing tools. Further research is interesting in two respects. First, a comparison of the dynamics of the effectiveness of PR-campaign tools in Ukraine in 2020 and in the past, in particular, at the dawn of state independence. Secondly, to investigate how/or the concept of PR-campaigns in social networks and blogs is constantly changing.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of communicative verbs. Scientists analyzed communicative verbs in artistic texts, in biblical texts, and fairy tales. But there are no scientific works on verbs of speech in the language of the media. The Ukrainian language has all the means by which you can create a concrete and imaginative informational text. It is the verbs that make the text come alive. These are action words that improve the orality of the text. The research is based on the materials of the Ukrinform information agency. Speech verbs from 10 news reports for December 3, 2022 were analyzed. A total of 30 lexemes were recorded. They occur in the texts 73 times. And make up 31.2% of all verbs and 3.6% of all words. All verbs are divided into 22 groups according to semantics. The most common is the group with the meaning “to inform,”. Etymologically, 7 lexemes have borrowed roots, the rest are Proto-Slavic in origin. With the help of communicative verbs, journalists convey various shades of meaning and quality of someone else’s speech in the texts of news reports. The lexemes of oral speech penetrate into the written network text as well, creating new forms and platforms of communication. Prospects for further research are that there is a need to study communicative verbs in the language of traditional and new media, to make a comparative analysis of their use in different types of media, to trace the etymological connections between lexemes for more thorough conclusions. Key words: speech verbs, communicative verbs, news reports.

Kumar, Aishani, Thendral Yalini, and Sunil Kumar C. Unlocking Cellular Control: The Promise of PROTACs in Disease Intervention. Science Reviews - Biology, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.57098/scirevs.biology.3.2.1.

Full text
Abstract:
The discovery of proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) is among the most exciting and promising avenues in cancer therapy. These fascinating compounds signify a paradigm shift from traditional approaches to medication development, offering a new idea that leverages the complexities of biological mechanisms to accomplish highly focused degradation of particular proteins implicated in pathological processes. This novel strategy has the potential to address a number of drawbacks with conventional therapy techniques, such as the development of drug resistance and unexpected adverse effects resulting from interactions that are not intended. The fundamental attraction of PROTACs is their distinct mode of action, which is based on controlling the cell's own machinery for protein degradation. This orchestrated degradation translates to a substantial reduction in the levels of disease-driving proteins, often leading to the disruption of critical pathways involved in cancer growth and progression. The in-depth principles underlying PROTAC technology are thoroughly explored in this review study, which also provides insight into the complex chemical mechanisms that enable these chimeric molecules to specifically degrade certain proteins while leaving others intact. Showcasing the potential of PROTACs as a revolutionary force in targeted cancer therapy, and focusing on its application in prostate and breast cancer especially, the article draws from a comprehensive compilation of preclinical and clinical studies, advancements, and breakthroughs in the field. The methods used to create and refine PROTACs for various cancer types will be examined throughout the review, along with the subtleties of the ligand and linker choices that are crucial to their effectiveness and selectivity. The difficulties and possibilities of transferring this ground-breaking technology from the lab to clinical practice will also be thoroughly examined, with an emphasis on issues like bioavailability, administration strategies, and potential resistance mechanisms. Through the integration of perspectives from various studies, the objective is to present a thorough but succinct review of the state of ongoing PROTAC research, emphasizing both, noteworthy advancements and the important issues that still need to be resolved. In the end, our investigation into PROTACs aims to shed light on how they can change the face of cancer therapy by providing a preview of a day when targeted protein degradation of disease-causing proteins would lead the way in novel therapeutic approaches.
