Abstract:
Producing an article from a thesis is a topic that arises before or after completing a master’s or doctoral dissertation. Publishing an article using thesis data before completing the thesis can call into question the originality of the thesis. It is more appropriate to publish after the thesis has been completed. The publication after completing the thesis enhances the researcher’s and thesis’s visibility. However, when producing an article from the thesis, it is necessary to indicate that it was created from the thesis. Additionally, if the advisor has contributed significantly during the article writing process, they must be identified as the second author. Producing an article from a thesis is not just a copy-paste and is more difficult than anticipated. Editors and reviewers easily recognize an article that has been hastily converted. Therefore, an intensive effort is required when converting a thesis into an article.

Abstract:
As we know that abstract has an important role in the research article. Besides, it has its own organizational framework. Every researcher must create an abstract after the research project was completed. This article aims to identify the rhetorical moves of English abstract articles on undergraduate theses at STKIP PGRI Pacitan. The analysis guideline was based on Hyland's theory (2004). The data were collected from 20 abstracts of published journal articles. The results revealed that all moves were appeared on the students’ abstract organization. However, it was found that the degree of occurrence or the frequency appearance was differed in every moves. The data informed that moves 3 and moves 4 were found in all students’ thesis abstracts. Moves 5 appeared in 12 students’ thesis abstracts. Then, moves 1 appeared in 8 students’ thesis abstracts and moves 2 appeared in 19 students’ thesis abstracts. The findings also revealed that there were many rhetorical organizations generated by the occurrences of moves and steps in students' abstracts. The variation moves that created by students depend on the students’ writing ability. This study can be a bridge to fill the gap in improving the quality of students’ writing, especially about abstract article.

Research scientists are expected to communicate their science to the lay public. However, lay people need scientific literacy in order to understand science. Both science and poetry are aspects of culture that connect people and might be able to expand their reach by incorporating elements of each other. “Thesis poetry” based on the IMRaD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) scientific paper format could promote understanding and empathy between scientists and the lay public, and foster and improve scientific literacy. This article proposes a thesis poem format incorporating empirical and personal logic and data drawn from original papers as a tool for the communication of science.

The subject of the article is the problem of regulation of artificial intelligence in conceptual terms. The thesis is the formulation that the legislator creating casuistic legal norms gives artificial intelligence room to create its own norms as a procedure of autonomous choice (main thesis). The background for the consideration is the rule prohibiting discrimination against persons with disabilities in a pandemic triage situation (COVID-19). The considerations are divided into four parts, derived from the European Commission’s classification of risks regarding the regulation of artificial intelligence. Each of the four parts of the deliberations is illustrated by a thesis from four judgments of the Federal Constitutional Court, one judgment for each part of the deliberations. The framework for the deliberations is the German legal order. The article is summarised with final conclusions.

Abstract:
The strength of audience awareness has a great influence on the content selection, expression and writing techniques of the article. Therefore, the cultivation of the students’ audience awareness in writing becomes one of the key factors that determine the qualities of the students’ compositions. This thesis conducts a questionnaire and interviews on college students from the four grades of Nanchang Normal University in order to reveal the college students’ cognitive status and attitude of audience awareness. Based on the status quo, this thesis analyzes the possible causes of this situation from two aspects: the teachers’ carelessness on audience awareness and overly concern with writing skills, and the students’ shortage of language ability and logical thinking ability and their excessive attention to writing skills. For these reasons, this thesis proposes corresponding countermeasures: in the English writing class, the reader's awareness should be emphasized; the theme of the article needs to be much closer to life; students are supposed to create imaginary readers in writing; the method of readers' feedback should be fully utilized. The use of these strategies will effectively help college students cultivate audience awareness in English writing.

Abstract:
Based on the thesis of Ernst Kapp about the projection of organs during the initial creation of tools, the current article tries to show that this thesis still has its implications today. Indeed, if Kapp claims that the man created tools by observing his organs and their functionality, then it should also be stated that today, from a technical point of view, the man has reached the position of projecting technically sophisticated tools for the replacement of human organs. There is an increasing tendency of human organ replacement aiding, and in many ways facilitating, human life, but also conscious and coordinated cyborgization and robotics with the aim of accelerating and improving that same life to the level of challenging a new stage of its evolution. Thus, the current framework of the philosophy of technology emerges, which was mainly initiated by Kapp's thesis.

Abstract:
In today’s society the use of new technologies for data visualizations is becoming increasingly widespread. This article seeks neither to give a complete view of its history nor an exhaustive definition of the phenomenon of data visualization. This article takes a new perspective on data visualization by dealing only with a new type of data visualizations, those based on “Big Data” and AI systems. This perspective is completely different from existing ones. Therefore, I explore three main theses: (a) that AI systems applied to large amounts of data that we cannot directly know (so-called “Big Data”) can create “living” and interactive images with a multifaceted nature and efficacy (epistemic, phenomenal, and subjective); (b) that this new type of data visualizations is deeply linked to the so-called “iconic turn” trend in the field of social sciences because many of the theses of the “iconic turn” are confirmed and even reinforced by these data visualizations; (c) that through the production of “living” images, digital technologies demonstrate their ability to re-define and re-configure our experience and re-ontologize reality by creating new entities requiring new philosophical tools to be fully understood. I focus mainly on this third thesis by stressing the hermeneutical function of data visualization.

Legal and Constitutional Implications of the United Kigdom’s Withdrawal From the European Union – the British PerspectiveThe article is dedicated to the issue of legal and constitutional implications of Brexit seen from the perspective of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The author advances a thesis that the withdrawal from the European Union will be the most complicated legal operation in the history of the British state as for more than 40 years United Kingdom has been a part of European Communities (today’s European Union) which affected greatly the British legal system. In order to prove the thesis the author analyses the political and legal discussion around the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill 2017‑2019 that is supposed to repeal the European Communities Act 1972 and transpose the existing EU Law into UK law. The bill is controversial – especially the provisions known as Henry VIII clauses that create special powers for the government to make secondary legislation.

Abstract:
The article deals with the problem of determining the degree of scientificity of a bachelor’s thesis. With the transition of Ukrainian institutions of higher education to the Bologna system, a number of reforms regarding the structure and quality indicators of education took place. In recent years, almost all universities require students to write and defend bachelor theses. As a consequence of the autonomy of the university system, each university has developed its own requirements for writing bachelor’s theses, which are based on the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “About a Higher Education”. The difference in requirements concerns primarily the scientific level of the bachelor's thesis. Most of the requirements formulate the scientific nature of the work as the presence of scientific elements in it, which does not quite meet European standards, where, for example, in Germany, a bachelor's thesis is considered as a research paper in which the student must demonstrate his ability to work scientifically according to standards of scientific probity. It's time to modernize our Uni.check anti-plagiarism program, because scientific publications from the other countries and older Ukrainian publications are ignored in this program, and this fact creates an opportunity for plagiarism. A serious difference to the Ukrainian realities with regard to the bachelor thesis lies in the requirement of the universities of German-speaking countries to formulate the research topic themselves and to narrow it down in such a way that the student's own contribution can be demonstrated. In Ukrainian practice, research topics are given and are often too general for the student to inevitably convey well-known facts in the bachelor thesis. The tendency, which only became apparent in the early 2020s, to offer special courses in academic writing at universities raises the hope that bachelor students will be prepared for academic work and will know exactly that they are writing an academic paper.

Abstract:
The phenomenon of spatial chaos is ever-growing challenge in Poland. Its most common explanations are the weaknesses of spatial planning and the households’ economic-based decisions of building a house in the suburbs. In this context, Polish publications lack analyses of the impact of local authorities’ on shaping conditions for the development of new housing and renovation of the existing ones. The authors put forward a thesis about the persistence of an extensive land use policy model in Poland, in which local governments create conditions favouring area-consuming approach to locating buildings. At the same time, the same local governments allow de-agriculturalisation of land plots with a consequence that newly developed areas are not equipped with utilities (e.g., sewage or heating networks). Chaos in the development of residential areas is also illustrated by another phenomenon. Local authorities designate large degraded and revitalisation areas. This results in the dispersed effects. The article concentrates on these three symptoms of spatial chaos in Poland, i.e., random and dispersed expansion of new investments in sewage system, lack of integration between district heating systems and direction of residential development and dispersed effects of revitalisation, which cannot prevent flight from blight. The obtained results allowed to confirm the thesis about the extensive land use policy model in Poland.

Abstract:
The article presents issues relevant to the cognitive theory of metaphor developed by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson. The researchers suggest that metaphors are common. They are rooted in the experience, important in the perception of the world, thinking, acting, as revealed in the language. The metaphor of language is a reflection of a conceptual metaphor. Lakoff and Johnson point out that the metaphor of language occurs in the texts of various types, from the colloquial language to the specialist language. A metaphor carries out two important functions: explaining and facilitating understanding. It enables a partial understanding of some kind of experience in terms of another type of beings and experiences. Some issues such as the concept of love, metaphysical issues, become possible to understand only through metaphor. Thus, the thesis, which treats about necessity of metaphor, is significant. In the process of metaphorical cognition, there is a projection, which takes the source domain to the target domain. A thesis about invariant is important here. Metaphorical mapping is partial. At the root metaphor is structural similarity between domains or their correlations in our experience. Conceptual metaphors can create complex structural relationships. In the case of metaphor the thesis of one-way metaphorical mappings is as important as the thesis about her creative potential. Prominent semantics of conceptual metaphor cannot give full meaning in the literal paraphrase. Among the conceptual metaphors structural metaphors, orientation and ontological metaphors are characterized.

This article provides a general overview of international migration trends and types during the postwar period. Its thesis is that international migration consists of a set of spatial networks which share many of the processes that create them, but that the networks are characterized by factors which vary geographically and distinguish one from another. Fuller analysis of these requires a systems approach to provide a framework within which to study the processes that produce flow patterns. It concludes that our ability to forecast future world patterns of international migration must be based on an assessment of the likely behavior of the component macro-regional systems we can recognize.

Abstract:
This paper addresses the theory of knowledge in relativistic terms of Paul Feyerabend, stressing the importance of personal involvement in the research and theorizing. Since the topic is a constant and widely accepted premise the author is insisting that it has been actually ignored in the sociology and philosophy of science. It is apparent in discursive form, neglected in actual consequences for science in general. Defending the thesis of relativism had remained unacknowledged by the general scientific community. Biographies of mavericks and their struggle and exclusion from scientific community etc. had been constant in the history of science. Is science nowadays able to accept criticism and implement arguments of knowledge beyond the institutionalized standards? Throughout this article we argue that personal involvement creates biased scientific facts; acknowledging and applying tacit knowledge we move beyond personal involvement and create appropriate interpretations of facts and phenomena under investigation, where we reconsider the construction of facts and personal beliefs, knowing that our fields of expertise are incommensurable.

Abstract:
Ufa State Petroleum Technological University is a well-known scientific and educational center on the world stage, where international students from different countries study at all levels of higher education. Currently, about 250 students from more than 20 countries are enrolled in master's degree programs. The article shows an analysis of the contingent of students from foreign countries for three years. Based on the analysis, it was revealed that there is a significant increase in the number of students from three Arabic-speaking countries: Egypt, Iraq and Yemen. It is assumed that this trend will continue in the future. The main factors that may affect the increase in the number of students from Arabic-speaking countries are Egypt's accession to the BRICS association and active meetings of university representatives with delegations from the Middle East. Given the growing number of students from Arabic-speaking countries, there is a need to create and use academic adaptation programs for foreign students. The University is currently transforming its Master's degree programs. The main changes in the Magistracy are: multi-track selection of an individual learning trajectory; a unified sequence of courses for the work on a master's thesis and the possibility of choosing new dissertation formats. It is very important to Inform all students about the sequence of stages of study in the master's degree and the specifics of work on master's theses. Therefore, the educational material adapted for students from Arabic-speaking countries will allow them to quickly and successfully start studying at the university. It will also increase the effectiveness of the tutor's work on the academic adaptation of students, reduce the amount of time needed to explain basic norms. The article presents an analysis of the most popular master's degree programs for students from Egypt, Iraq and Yemen. Based on this analysis, an adapted presentation on the choice of a master's degree track was made, in which the annotations of the main tracks were translated into Arabic. A presentation was made on the main methods of scientific research, the forms of final qualifying works and the sequence of completing a master's thesis while studying at the university. This presentation also has an Arabic translation. The made materials will allow Arabic-speaking students to better understand the principles of studying at the master's degree, it is easier to navigate the offered educational courses of the university.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to address how the European Landscape Convention (ELC) defines the cultural landscape, and what tools the former provides for the latter’s protection. It is also crucial to determine, from the viewpoint of the Polish legal order, how the legislator implements the protection of the cultural landscape into national law. The general thesis of the article is that the ELC creates an integrated model of landscape protection in which the cultural landscape is considered an intrinsic component. The general thesis is accompanied by a detailed thesis that the ELC does not independently create an optimal level of protection for the cultural landscape, but rather shapes the direction that this protection will take. The ELC also defines the cultural landscape, including the mutual relations between natural and cultural values, as well as the perception of the landscape by people. The basic link for the protection of the cultural landscape in Poland is the municipality, which – with the help of planning and spatial development instruments – can directly affect the quality of the landscape. Legal tools for the protection of the cultural landscape should also be pursued in the matter of monument protection.

Against this background, I argue that Capitalism makes use of this plasticity to create a fully commodified, radical contingent form of life. Actors of alternative economies can wake up of from this dream world of Capitalism by using the substitutability of economic practices to deconstruct the capitalist form of life. The two most important practices for doing so are the practices of “in-sourcing” and “solidary out-sourcing”. They also reveal the normative kernel of conviviality, namely to seek to do justice to the economicity of human life. The paper ends with locating the presented form-of-life-account within the strand of literature on alternative economies.

Abstract:
Economic activities, as well as those from public sector entities, are also accompanied by the risk that is covered by obligatory or voluntary provisions that are simply understood as accumulated funds. The purpose of creating these provisions is very diverse. The aim of this article is to identify the awareness and behavior of municipalities towards the risks that accompany the implemented public tasks resulting in the creation of provisions. There are two hypotheses that were adopted: municipalities gather limited provisions of a certain type, and municipalities do not create optional financial and balance provisions. Research carried out shows that not all municipalities meet the statutory requirements for the creation of obligatory provisions. At the same time, the first thesis has not been confirmed, while the second thesis has been proven. The awareness of municipalities and their management in terms of the risks of conducted activities in the established provisions is negligible and unsatisfactory. The general information provided by local government units about insufficient income and revenue may explain, at least partially, the observed phenomenon.

This article summarizes the results of a project that integrates scientific and educational research in the engineering field. It originated from a technological appropriation process of Physical Deposition in Vapor Phase (PVD), in which students from the Faculty of Engineering have been involved to reach a level of technological entrepreneurship skills development. For this purpose, a theoretical-methodological strategy based on integrative projects was designed and implemented which seeks to contribute to student qualification in formative research. The conclusions point out the importance of establishing cross-sectional theoretical-practical elective courses in the faculty to direct students towards technological appropriation that allows to create a hotbed of research and choose to write their senior thesis in these areas to contribute to the training of human resources.

This article is an attempt to briefly analyze the scientific activity of Mikhail Konstantinovich Treushnikov, which is carried out through the prism of his publication activity in all its manifestations. In addition, this study presents an attempt to collect a complete bibliography of M.K. Treushnikov. The significance of this study is determined both by its uniqueness, which is due to the use of information from various sources, and the presence of individual theses and conclusions formulated by the authors. Thus, this work focuses on the fact that M.K. Treushnikov, in addition to considering the problems of civil and arbitral procedural law, paid attention to the development of problems of higher education, including in terms of methodology, and that, perhaps, allowed him to create a real school of civil procedure law in the walls of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. In addition, the thesis is put forward and substantiated that M.K. Treushnikov was actively engaged in questions of the law of evidence, as well as judicial law, which were widely reflected in his numerous works published in various journals and collections, as well as embodied in monographs.

Abstract:
AbstractShould Germany be prosecuting crimes committed in Syria pursuant to universal jurisdiction (UJ)? This article revisits the normative questions raised by UJ—the principle that a state can prosecute serious international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes committed by foreigners outside of its territories—against the backdrop of increasing European UJ proceedings regarding Syrian conflict–related crimes, focusing on Germany as an illustrative example. While existing literature justifies UJ on the basis of universal prohibition of certain atrocities, this creates residual normative issues. Alternatively, this article applies the “two-tiered test” derived from the “dual foundation” thesis of the Eichmann judgment, in which the normative appropriateness of UJ is evaluated against both accounts of universal prohibition and the specific politics surrounding the prosecution. It contends that the large number of Syrian refugees in Germany means that Germany, in particular, should initiate Syrian conflict–related UJ proceedings to prevent continued harm and recognize the political agency of refugees. Ultimately, the article suggests UJ should normatively be thought of as a domestic, rather than international, political event.

Abstract:
The article conducts a comparative analysis based on the analysis of the concepts of “noosphere”, “economy” and “noonomy”. The sources of genesis, content and structure of noonomy are revealed. Based on this comparison of the conceptual apparatus and the systemic quality of the studied phenomena, the article argues the thesis that, despite some external similarity of these concepts (the concept of noonomy creates the appearance of a synthesis of the concepts of noosphere and economy), they are qualitatively different. The article substantiates the conclusion about the nonidentity of the studied categories, as well as the invalidity of interpreting noonomy as one of the categories of economy and noosphere that develop, but retain the basic initial properties of their variety. The qualitative difference between the sources of genesis, content, forms, development patterns of noonomy and noosphere is shown. It is concluded that the conceptual core of noonomy is not a synthesis of the concepts of noosphere and economy as a simple sum of their theoretical constructions, but the disclosure of a potential qualitative leap towards a new way of satisfying human needs and improving living conditions, and civilizational development as well.

Abstract:
Based on the example of Darren Aronofsky’s film Black Swan, the article explores the disillusive potential of interfering with the classic model of film dramaturgy. Referring to the traditional paradigm developed by Syd Field, the author indicates deviations from the conventional narrative that occur in Aronofsky’s film. The text seeks to confirm the thesis that contemporary cinematography exemplifies the trend of abandoning the attempts to create a seemingly referential world. By questioning the fundamental structure of the film’s dramaturgy, Black Swan provides additional interpretive possibilities. However, displaying the constituent elements of a work, for example, by transaccentuating their meaning or changing their place or length of occurrence, is not the most obvious disillusionment strategy. It may in fact remain hidden until the moment of careful analysis.

In this article, the author reflects on Big Data analytics in the context of the problem of cognitive representation. There are many voices declaring that the era of Big Data has brought a radical breakthrough in human cognitive abilities. Some – especially in the world of business and marketing, and to a lesser extent in the field of science – argue that for the first time we can reach a clean, objective picture of reality and keep track of its changes. The article is a critical commentary to this thesis. In Big Bata analytics, cognitive activities are assessed not from the point of view of their compliance with reality, but the possibility of achieving set goals. Big Data mining can be, and often is, an important tool for reality control and forecasting – which does not mean it can discover objective truth and create accurate representations of reality.

Abstract:
This article considers the methodological framework constructed for the doctoral thesis Takatāpui Beyond Marginalisation: Exploring Māori Gender, Identity and Performance. In this practice-led artistic inquiry the researcher adopted a critically iterative approach where “research questions were initially exploratory and reflective, serving to create an internal dialogue between the practitioner and the making” (Tavares & Ings, 2018, p. 20). The formative question underpinning the thesis asked:

How might an artistic reconsideration of gender role differentiation give a unique voice to takatāpui tāne identity?1

The research sought to illuminate an experiential context, then generate visual and performance artifacts where the principle of irarere within gender identity and sexual orientation, might find a purposeful place to stand within te ao Māori (the Māori world view).2

Emanating from a Kaupapa Māori paradigm the study employed the methodological metaphor of Te Whare Rangahau, a research space that is populated with methods including karakia (incantation), kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) interviewing, iterative experimentation, pakiwaitara (poetic inquiry), photography, and choreography. In the thesis, Te Whare Rangahau integrated a number of features from Robert Pouwhare’s (2020) Pūrākau framework for practice-led, artistic inquiry - specifically his observation that in much artistic Māori research, through mahi (practice) and heuristic inquiry, the researcher may draw sustenance from both the realm of Te Kura Huna (what is unseen, genealogical, esoteric or tacit), and Te Kura Tūrama – (what is explicit and seen). Within Māori epistemology, a dynamic of mahi (practice) draws nutrients from these realms, synthesising and connecting elements in the generation of print based and performative artistic outcomes.

Social transfer programs are thought to generate beneficiary groups who will act politically to defend “their” programs from retrenchment. But little empirical research has been conducted to either verify or disconfirm the micro foundations of this hypothesis, which lies at the heart of the “new social risks” thesis as well as many economic analyses of welfare state politics. This article tests empirically whether benefiting from public pensions leads individuals to greater support of the pension system status quo, net of other factors. It uses cross—data set imputation to combine cross-nationally comparable individual-level data on income from public pensions with political attitudes toward proposed pension reforms. The hypothesis that public pension systems create policy feedbacks of self-interested beneficiaries supporting further pension spending is not supported in any of 11 European countries in either 1992 or 2001.

Photo-elicited interviewing (PEI) can make a valuable contribution to understand the lived realities of mothers raising children with foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), when used as a methodological tool. This article offers an explanation to some of the challenges experienced by these mothers who are often marginalised by a perception of causing wilful harm. PEI was used in a Master’s thesis that described the ways in which mothers promoted the occupational engagement of their children with FASD in the Pixley Ka Seme District in Northern Cape Province, South Africa. The study served as an example of how PEI shifted the power balance between the researcher and the mothers to create a space that encouraged mothers as participants to talk openly and freely about the challenges in their daily lives. PEI promoted the agency of participants and enabled the researcher to learn from them as experts in raising their children. The images discussed during PEI opened valuable doorways to conversation, helping participants prioritise what they want to share, while images acted as reminders during the conversation. Photographs added a visual layer to the verbal data gained through semi-structured interviews, offering a deeper level of insight into the contributions mothers make towards the development of children with FASD.

AbstractUnderstanding attitudes towards the environment is important because they often determine behaviour that either increases or decreases environmental quality. In this article we investigate the environmental worldview of the young people from Kosovo. The New Revised Environmental Paradigm Scale or New Ecological Paradigm Scale, known as NEP Scale (Dunlap et al., 2000) was used. The study involved 330 young people age 18-20. 150 young people are from secondary schools, and other (180) are from some different faculties at the State University in Mitrovica. The mean score for the full NEP scale in this study was 3.48, which indicates a low endorsement of the NEP among the sample of Kosovo young people. The averages of the sub-dimensions varied between 3.08 (“Limits to growth”) and 3.73 (“Eco-crisis”). Like as others non-industrialized societies, young people from Kosovo tend to believe in the profound connection between humanity and nature, or there are no clear differences between pro-NEP and pro-DSP views. This study confirms the thesis that environmental worldviews differ across cultures. The mean value of the NEP Scale can be feasibly associated with various variables concerning general environmental attitudes. In order to discover the factors that create a pro-ecological orientation of young people in this country, additional researches are needed.

A case study of music business and community participation for tourism benefit. Materials and Methods: The author researched from the thesis, research, and academic paper that related. Interviews with trusted sources and successful case studies from many places. Results: This academic article found that the use of music in marketing and creative marketing plays an important role in making community-based tourism which is starting to become popular after the spread of COVID-19 can create business value. In addition, it can attract more tourists to come in. generate income for the community Having a circular economy can improve the quality of life of people in the community. Conclusion: Community-based tourism uses music to attract tourists for their travel to communities to view way of life, and to absorb cultures as well as atmospheres. Nowadays, tourist attractions tend to increase in number. It also increases the amount of money for local inhabitants, their descendants, or their working age so that they do not need to work at other places. And when local inhabitants have income, they will perceive the significance of their communities. This will finally result in stronger communities. Examples of music marketing and businesses which are necessary to create income for these people include the “Big Mountain Music Festival” a large concert in terms of space, stage, and the number of artists; with many different booths selling food and products. These all create massive income. Thus, it can be seen that marketing and music businesses can truly promote community businesses.

Abstract:
Between 1938 and 1943, Fascist intellectuals debated the problem of how to create a racial policy that would encompass the Japanese within the Aryan doctrine. This article demonstrates how internal divisions in the Fascist party over racial issues generated alternative versions of pro-Japanese propaganda, which influenced the racial thinking of the Italian far-right even long after the Second World War. I show how Italian racial theories developed to underpin the alliance with Japan were transnational in scope, as they involved both German and Italian scholars in a common effort to lobby state racial policies. Specifically, I consider George Montandon and Julius Evola as two transnational actors engaged in building a case for the inclusion of the Japanese in the family of Aryan races, speaking either from a ‘biological’ or ‘spiritual’ perspective. While by the end of the Second World War the ‘biological’ thesis for the inclusion of the Japanese race had evaporated, the ‘spiritual’ thesis would continue to influence a generation of Italian far-right militants, especially during the ‘Years of Lead’. To make sense of this legacy, I suggest that the foundational myth of Italian Fascism, based on the spiritual heritage of the multiethnic Roman empire, responded to the neofascist quest for transnational affiliations against Western materialism.

Abstract:
The article substantiates the possibility and value of involving an entrepreneur in the work of certain enterprises outside the narrow framework of the firms they founded as managers with extensive entrepreneurial experience, thereby helping such enterprises to succeed in competition. It is proposed to take into account the size of the enterprise, because a unified approach to appointment of a manager is not suitable for all economic entities. The purpose of the article is to determine the value of attracting entrepreneurs to the board of directors who have created other firms, and their ability to increase the value and efficiency of companies that they have not created. Some enterprises in certain industries are more suitable for management by external entrepreneurs, while in other firms the effectiveness of their involvement will be low. This thesis should form the basis of corporate decisions concerning appointment of external entrepreneurs to their board of directors. Studies have shown that enterprises headed by owners perform better than those run by external professional managers. Based on the resource point of view when analyzing the firm, it was shown that entrepreneurs who have created other firms that act as external directors are more focused on increasing investments in research and development and higher sales growth rates. Their impact on the value of enterprises is greater among firms in industries with intensive use of research and development work and in competitive industries. Such business directors from the outside increase the value of the company due to their risk inclination and ability to anticipate demand patterns and create new markets.

Abstract Compounding seems to be the most productive word formation process in Swedish on the basis of “new words’ lists” (Swedish: nyordslistor) registered by the Language Council of Sweden (Svenska Språkrådet). The subject of the research was the productiveness of compounds and their comprehensibility for the native speakers. The material for the corpus analysis showing the productivity of compounds consisted of 353 compound words from the lists from years 2000 – 2012. With help of a survey where pupils from a secondary school in Tingsryd in Småland were asked to define 17 compounds from “new words’ list” 2008 a conclusion could be drawn that compound words are short-lived, ephemeral constructions. The analysis has shown the big pace of changes that the lexicon undergoes and the linguistic creativity of language users as well as their strong need to create new terms. The results can evoke questions about the effectiveness of communication in relation to the features of new words. The article is based on my unpublished master’s thesis.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to draw attention to the issue of using modern technologies to create smart cities, also known as 15-minute cities or compact cities. Many such cities already exist worldwide, and others draw inspiration from their models. In Poland as well , efforts are being made to create smart cities that guarantee both sustainable development and an improvement in the quality of life for residents. In this regard, the primary role rests with local governments. The concept of a smart city was emphasized in the 2015 United Nations resolution called Agenda 2030, which highlights that the changes introduced in the functioning of cities are meant to promote social cohesion. The principles outlined in Agenda 2030 have the support of the European Commission, among other things, in the “Horizon Europe” program. The concept of a smart city revolves around ensuring that every resident has access to basic life necessities within a 15-minute walking or cycling distance from their home or by using public transport. The fundamental thesis arising from the above considerations is that actions aimed at creating smart cities have an impact on the sustainable environmental, social, and economic development, while also carrying risks that may limit residents’ rights and threaten their privacy.

Abstract:
Verbal/Written descriptions of artworks that are perceived whilst a person looks at an artwork can be seen as a specific type of the verbal action pattern to describe. My thesis in this article is that the action purpose is not simply to ‘create a picture’ in the hearer’s or reader’s imagination space, but to lead a successive acquisition and processing of knowledge with regard to relevant aspects of the artwork (as it is represented in the describer’s knowledge). Therefore, descriptions of this type prepare for mental and/or verbal forms of action (for example to explain, to evaluate). Based on action-theoretical works from the field of Functional Pragmatics the article presents analyses of texts and discourses on descriptions of artworks that can be perceived simultaneously. The following questions are taken into account: In what ways are the describer’s verbal actions based on a shared knowledge space, respectively, a shared perception space? Which forms of synchronizations with local deixis can be differentiated and are typical for this type of constellation? Which interrelations between the describer’s concatenation of speech and the hearer’s/ reader’s successive viewing of the perception and acquisition of knowledge (respectively processing of knowledge) can be found? Which linguistic forms are common with regard to the function to create an interactional nexus with other verbal action patterns (for example ‘to explain’)?

Abstract:
Though hidden in plain sight and aesthetically relegated to the margin of history, Arab acrobats’ accounts in the West are critical terrains that shift the spotlight downwards, signal new versions of the inscription of Otherness and recreate the absent/present agency of acrobats as active interlocutors and “dissenting voices”. They remain valuable archival material that particularly challenges Orientalist orthodoxies and Western clashing tropes; they are undoubtedly alternative discourses of difference that run counter to the binary mainstream trope and the fixed taxonomy of East versus West. The researcher’s particular interest is in the Algerians and Egyptians. The ultimate aim is to show an Occidentalist façade of representing the Western Other. The author argues that these acrobatic experiences formulate a parallel Occidentalist discourse that tries to create a counter-discursive narrative of fact. This is significant in in the building up of an Occidentalist project. It shows how the acrobats have turned into examiners and eyewitnesses from within Western contexts. This article starts from this aporetic question: to what extent do Algerian and Egyptian acrobats recreate their agency and enunciate an alternative façade of Occidentalism? Using a postcolonial micro-historicist[i] approach, this paper aims to undermine both the Orientalist discourse and the Occidentalist thesis based on Hassan Hanafi’s allegiance. Ranging from the itineraries of Abachi troupe to the trajectories of Amin brothers and Ramses groups, this article concludes that the discourse generated is not Orientalism but rather a heterogeneous version of Occidentalism.

Abstract:
Search engines leverage knowledge to improve information access. Such knowledge comes in different forms: unstructured knowledge (e.g., textual documents) and structured knowledge (e.g., relationships between real-world objects and topics). In order to effectively leverage knowledge, search engines should account for context, i.e., information about the user and query. In this thesis, we aim to support search engines in leveraging knowledge while accounting for context. In the first part of this thesis, we study how to make structured knowledge more accessible to the user when the search engine proactively provides such knowledge as context to enrich search results. As a first task, we study how to retrieve descriptions of knowledge facts from a text corpus. Next, we study how to automatically generate knowledge fact descriptions. And finally, we study how to contextualize knowledge facts, that is, to automatically find facts related to a query fact. In the second part of this thesis, we study how to improve interactive knowledge gathering. We focus on conversational search, where the user interacts with the search engine to gather knowledge over large unstructured knowledge repositories. We study multi-turn passage retrieval as an instance of conversational search and focus on query resolution, that is, add missing context from the conversation history to the current turn. We model query resolution as a term classification task and propose a method to address it. In the final part of this thesis, we focus on search engine support for professional writers in the news domain. We study how to support such writers create event-narratives by exploring knowledge from a corpus of news articles. We propose a dataset construction procedure for this task that relies on existing news articles to simulate incomplete narratives and relevant articles. We study the performance of multiple rankers, lexical and semantic, and provide insights into the characteristics of this task.
