Abstract:
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to provide some preliminary data on the vocational interests of a sample of Australian high school pupils. Subjects (N=935) from five high schools were administered the Career Interest Test, which provides idiographic, forced-choice assessments of Outdoor, Practical, Scientific, Creative, Business, Office, and People Contact vocational interests across the three dimensions of vocations, academic preferences, and leisure activity choices. Interests are not related to age but there are significant sex differences as well as interaction effects, with males higher on Outdoor and Practical and females higher on Creative and People Contact categories. Data are provided on male and females preferences for each of the 63 paired choices (i.e., 126 items). The intercorrelation of the interests was assessed in terms of Holland's vocational typology. The validity of vocational/academic/activity measures of interests was reflected in comparisons with expressed occupational choices. It was argued that interests may be considered in terms of work-task preferences and that male-female differences in interests are consistent with Gotffredson's role of stereotypes in interest development. The implications for the assessment of vocational inlerests are discussed in terms of item content, format, scoring, and interpretation.

The aim of this work is to form in different categories of current and future officers a stable idea of the phenomenon of professional-educational culture, disclosure of its basic and functional components, explaining the mechanisms of formation and development of this quality and thus contributing to the efficiency of professional training of military personnel not only in higher military-training institutions, but also directly in the units and units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In the study of the characteristics of the professional and educational culture of the officer, the most significant role is played directly by military-educational activity, the unit of analysis of which are its tasks. In turn, the professional-educational culture, being a personal characteristic of the officer, appears as a way of military-educational activity, providing solving various kinds of pedagogical problems. Thus, the process of solving pedagogical problems constitutes the technology of military-educational activity as a component of the training of an officer. The concept of “task of activity” chosen by us as a unit of analysis of military-educational activities has justified the category of «technology of pedagogical activity» as a component of officer training; to consider its task nature, presented by binary groups of analytics-reflexive, constructive-predictive, organizational-activity, evaluation-information and corrective-regulating tasks. Although these task groups are typical of commanders and superiors as subjects of professional military-educational activities, all of them in a particular situation involve an indispensable search for a creative, individual-personality solution.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the essence of such a concept as “an innovative educational environment” and defines its content for vocational education institutions. It illustrates the work experience of teaching staff in educational institutions in creating an innovative educational environment and forming professional competency in future workers. It also describes the main approaches to creating an innovative educational environment in vocational education institutions for vocational training of future skilled workers. They include humanistic approaches (anthropocentrism, relationship harmony, forming intellectual culture); systemic approaches (improving an educational environment as a holistic developing system); informational approaches (a sufficient level of information culture); innovative approaches (creative interaction, forming readiness for future professional activity).
Based on the practical experience of vocational education institutions in Ukraine, pedagogical conditions for creating and maintaining an informational educational environment in educational institutions were singled out: partnership cooperation, respect and trust of all participants in the educational process; focus on development and self-development of every individual; creative activity; an effective use of scientific and methodological, material and technical capabilities and human resources of educational institutions; employment of personality-oriented innovative pedagogical technologies.
The emphasis is placed on the importance of implementing personality-oriented pedagogical technologies in the educational process. It is shown that vocational education teachers have different views on the approaches to creating an innovative educational environment. However, it is agreed that the process of creating an innovative educational environment significantly influences the processes of forming and developing professional skills in teachers, strengthening professional relations between them, facilitating pedagogical innovations.

The long-term predictive validity of out-of-school activities in adolescence as predictors of later vocational choice and accomplishment was investigated in 91 young adults who had been identified as intellectually gifted as adolescents. The baseline measure tapped leisure activities and accomplishments in eight specific activity domains (science/mathematics, social, dance, music, art, creative writing, drama, and sports). It was administered when research participants were in the senior year of high school. The criterion measure was administered approximately 13 years later and provided a classification of current occupation according to the Roe vocational fields and a measure of adult work accomplishment. We found a significant relationship between the domain of out-of-school activity in adolescence and the domain of vocational activity in adulthood. Moreover, subjects whose adolescent out-of-school activities matched adult occupation had a higher level of work accomplishment than subjects for whom such a match was absent.

Abstract:
Military institutions are traditionally focused on the implementation of the classical, narrow form of educational development of professional knowledge and skills of cadets. In modern conditions, a transition is taking place to a broad system of professional development that determines the formation of a wide range of professional potential of future officers, the development of not only narrow professional knowledge and skills, but also potential abilities for active creativity, motivation for systematic collection, processing and use of new informational data. To study the factors of inhibition of the educational process in the modern military institute, the results of the sociological research “Social and Labor Development in the Assessments of Cadets of the Saratov Military Institute” are analyzed. This analysis shows that military vocational training is characterized by informational isolation, rigid administrative organizational educational culture. The latter leads to a discrepancy between the formally stated and necessary, as well as the actually emerging creative potential of cadets (graduates) of Russia’s military institutions. The military institute lacks free access to Internet resources, a significant part of the information flow of the external social environment. Administrative technologies of interaction between the teacher and the students prevail, there are no favorable conditions for creative self-realization, complex development of creative projects, self-development of the intellectual potential of cadets, the practice of including cadets in the system of tactical management and self-management, organizing their own leisure time is limited. In this regard, changes are necessary in two directions: 1) providing organizational and informational conditions and opportunities for the creative implementation of students, as well as stimulating creative educational, scientific, and self-governing leisure activities of cadets; 2) the formation of organizational structures that purposefully support and organize innovative, managerial and selfgoverning activities of cadets. It is necessary to form innovative values of the educational process, the creative interaction of students with teachers. It is important to focus the educational and scientific-educational process on the processing and formation of new knowledge, on the activation of the innovative potential of cadets, that is, on the development of abilities to implement innovations that ensure a qualitative increase in the effectiveness of the military-professional activity of actors.
