Abstract:

The genus Crepis is redescribed from original material held in different institutions and transferred to the family Calloporidae. Crepis longipes, the type species, is redescribed and stabilized by typification. The description of Crepis verticillata is amplified. Three new species are described, all of them previously identified as C. longipes: Crepis harmelini n. sp. from the Strait of Gibraltar, Crepis sidneyi n. sp. from the Indo-Pacific region, and Crepis sinensis n. sp. from the South China Sea. A new genus, Mourellina n. gen., is erected for Crepis decussata, which is split into two species: Mourellina decussata n. comb. and Mourellina gonzaloi n. sp. This genus is placed in its own family, Mourellinidae n. fam., of uncertain affinities. The diagnosis of the family Chlidoniidae, which up to now included the genera Chlidonia and Crepis, is modified by excluding the latter genus.

Abstract:
The required properties of tissue paper including softness and liquid absorption are predominantly manipulated by the creping process, which cannot be simply produced in the laboratory. This causes problems in controlling the stock quality prepared using the various types of industrial pulps and consequently affects the creping operation and tissue quality. Our objectives were to develop a laboratory creping method and to apply it for the evaluation and control of the quality of pulp raw materials used in industrial tissue production. The experiment consisted of the development of a laboratory wet creping method and the study of the creping devices and the creping conditions, including basis weight of the base paper, sheet dryness, and degrees of pulp refining. The results showed that the method could produce crepes on laboratory sheets and the structures of the creped sheets could be engineered to improve their softness and liquid absorption. The tested pulps were found to produce significantly different responses to the laboratory wet creping, depending on their morphology and the mechanical treatments. The examination of industrial pulps found that eucalypt, bagasse, bamboo, and deinking pulps needed to be manipulated using different refining levels and required optimization among their softness, liquid absorption, and strength properties.

Abstract:
Abstract The surface of tissue paper is relatively complex compared to other paper grades and consists of several overlapping structures like protruding fibres, crepe and fabric-based patterns at different spatial frequencies. The knowledge of tissue surface characteristics is crucial when it comes to improvement with respect to surface softness and the perceptual handfeel of tissue products. In this work we used the optical based, non-contact measurement principle of focus variation for surface characterization of dry-creped, textured and through air dried (TAD) tissue. Based on the three tissue grades, a procedure which includes the characterization of the whole tissue surface throughout different scales within one setup, was developed. Surprisingly, focus variation was rarely used in tissue-related research, as it provides robust and reliable 3D surface information which can be used for further areal surface analysis. Special attention was given to the preparation and discussion of the raw data up to the final analysis including several spatial filtering steps. Enhanced surface parameters like the developed interfacial area ratio (Sdr) and the power spectral density (PSD) were used to describe the surface adequately. The surface roughness of the three tissue grades was compared, with the textured tissue showing the highest roughness in Sdr and PSD analysis. Although both methods are based on different principles, a high correlation in terms of evaluated roughness is evident. Regular structures like crepe and patterns are obtainable as peaks at the respective frequency with a certain intensity in the PSD evaluation. Apart from topography in terms of structures and roughness, the wide field of view of the focus variation measurement also allows assessment of effects related to flocculation and sheet formation. The developed procedure could also be appropriate for other fibre based materials and/or fabrics, which are similar to tissue with respect to optical properties such as for example nonwovens. Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe low quality of raw rubber materials produced by farmers is a classic problem. Farmers cultivate only hereditary sap crops into the clot, printed in the freezer and the results tub-shaped “slab” in various sizes. Prices received is relatively low, due to the weak bargaining position that would otherwise be beneficial to make a clean “bokar”. A factory units with creper mini is a business opportunity for farmers – traders who have sufficient capital investment. Creper mini machine is used to process the material rubber into blankets. Processing alternatives be blanketed capable to improving the quality and the price at the farm level. However, the lack of capital will hinder business continuity, while the production capacity should remain unfulfilled. This article is a reviews of case studies in factory units with creper mini on Banyuasin district, South Sumatera. The study analyzes were conducted to understand the financial aspects of the operations with financial eligibility criteria NPV, B/C ratio, IRR and PP. NPV results Rp. 1.225.200.360,-, B/C Ratio 1,02, IRR 32%, and PBP 2,1 years or 25 months. Business continuity rubber processing factory units with mini creper is feasible. Efforts to provide value-added is a large capital investment, as well as potential raw materials to meet the production capacity.

Abstract:
Abstract: The species Tecoma stans L. from the Bignoniaceae family, popularly known as the garden ipê or ipê mirim, is considered a natural tree plant in Mexico and in the southern United States. It was brought to Brazil in 1871 as an invasive plant of degraded agricultural and abandoned pastures, much used in ornamentation of cities. The present work aimed to verify the efficiency of the alternative dyes boldo, bacupari, azul crepom and colorau, compared to the synthetic dye Lugol. In the preparation of the Lugol slides and the alternative solutions, the anthers were macerated with a drop of dye and covered with cover slip. For each dye were made five slides and counted 300 pollen grains / blade, adding a total of 1,500 pollen. The visualization of the material was performed through an optical microscope in dimension of 40x by the scanning method. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and the means were compared by the Tukey test at the 5% probability level. According to the data verified in the analyzes it was verified that all the dyes can be recommended for evaluation of the male fertility of the species Tecoma stans L. and that it presents high capacity fecundity. However, in the case of alternative dyes, the solution of paprika and paper crepe were the ones that presented the best results regarding the coloration of the pollen grain, presenting a better visual differentiation of the same between feasible and non viable.

Abstract:
High-pressure die-cast AlSi10MnMg (AA365) alloys have been used as a material for automotive components exposed to high temperature and corrosive environments. This work determines the correlation of corrosion resistance with the intermetallic compounds and micro-voids of crept AA365 alloys under temperatures ranging from 373 K to 573 K with various applied stresses. The results showed that crept AA365 alloy at 473 K possessed a large amount of the intermetallic phases, compared with crept AA365 alloys at 373 K and 573 K due to the non-equilibrium solute atoms in Al matrix. By contrast, crept AA365 alloy at 573 K contained the lowest number of intermetallic precipitates owing to the remelting of the phases. With regard to the corrosion behavior, the corrosion potentials showed −687.0, −684.0, and −673.0 mVSCE of crept AA365 alloys at 373 K, 473 K, and 573 K, respectively, which means the corrosion occurred slowly on the crept AA365 alloy at 573 K, rather than at 373 K, 473 K. The value of the corrosion current density (Icorr) in the crept HPDC AA365 alloy at 473 K has the highest corrosion current density of 13.3 × 10−6 Acm−2, compared with others. It can be inferred that the high amount of intermetallic compounds gave rise to severe corrosion and led to the harmful micro-galvanic corrosion of crept AA365 alloy, rather than the micro-voids.

Abstract:
Melanoma is one of the most aggressive cancers, and patients with distant metastases have dire outcomes. We observed previously that melanoma progression is driven by a high migratory potential of melanoma cells, which survive and proliferate under harsh environmental conditions. In this study, we report that CREPT (cell-cycle related and expression-elevated protein in tumor), an oncoprotein highly expressed in other cancers, is overexpressed in melanoma cells but not melanocytes. Overexpression of CREPT stimulates cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in several melanoma cell lines. Further, we show that CREPT enhances melanoma progression through upregulating and activating Ras homolog family member A (RhoA)-induced actin organization and focal adhesion assembly. Our study reveals a novel role of CREPT in promoting melanoma progression. Targeting CREPT may be a promising strategy for melanoma treatment.

Abstract:
Purpose For over a century, traditional Japanese cotton crepe fabrics have been popular for men’s underwear in the humid summer. Now, consumer demand is for crepe fabrics that are more attractive, reflecting a shift in use from underwear to women’s dresses. The purpose of this paper is to clarify how the structures of the crepe and its constituent yarns affect the physical properties, handle and silhouette formability of crepe fabrics for dresses. Design/methodology/approach Three plain-weave gray fabrics were finished by four different processes to change their crepe structures. The mechanical and surface properties of the fabrics were measured using the Kawabata evaluation system for fabrics. The primary hand values and silhouette formability of the fabrics were calculated using conversion equations based on the physical properties. The handle of the crepe fabrics and the aesthetic appearance of flared collars made of them were assessed by female students using the semantic differential method. Findings Comparing the fabrics made from the same gray fabric, the piqué crepe fabrics showed larger Hari (anti-drape) and Shari (crispness) than the others. The subjective hand value of softness was closely related to fabric thickness. The assessors preferred the fine piqué crepe fabrics over the wide piqué fabrics regarding both the tactile feeling of the fabrics and the aesthetic appearance of the flared collars. The attractiveness of the flared collars was dominated by the shear stiffness of the fabrics. Originality/value The fine piqué crepe fabric made from fine yarns produced a more preferable handle. The fine piqué fabric made from thicker yarns produced flared collars with silhouettes that are more attractive. This indicates that the fine piqué structure is a positive feature that makes the fabric suitable for various types of dresses.

Abstract:
Abstract The spatial–intensity variability of extreme precipitation over the contiguous United States (CONUS) during boreal winter and relationships with the Madden–Julian oscillation (MJO) are investigated. Daily gridded precipitation is used to define two types of contiguous regions of extreme precipitation (CREPs): the intensity and spatial extent exceeding the 75th and 90th percentiles of frequency distributions. Extreme precipitation occurs twice as frequently when the MJO is active than inactive. Joint probabilities of the fractional area of CONUS sectors when the MJO is active are 2.0–2.5 higher than probabilities during inactive days for both 75th and 90th percentile CREPs (similar for the intensity of CREPs). Probabilities of the fractional area of 75th percentile CREPs when the MJO is active in neutral ENSO are higher than during warm or cold ENSO. Joint probabilities of the fractional area during MJO and warm ENSO are higher than MJO and cold ENSO and statistically significant over southern sectors. Results are similar for joint probabilities of intensity exceedance and MJO activity in warm and cold ENSO phases. Proportions of 75th and 90th percentile CREPs for each sector and phase of the MJO are predominantly large when MJO convective signals are over the central Indian Ocean or western Pacific. Probabilities of the fractional area of 90th percentile CREPs conditioned on MJO phases, however, do not show clear predominance. This indicates that the MJO is not the sole player in the occurrences of CREPs. Last, this study concludes that probabilities of the fractional area and intensity of 75th and 90th percentile CREPs in the CONUS do not depend on the amplitude of the MJO.

Abstract From the roots of Crepis conyzifolia, two new and two known guaianolides were isolated together with three known phenylpropanoids. Structures of the new compounds were established as 8β-hydroxy-4β, 15-dihydrozaluzanin C and 4β, 15, 11β, 13-tetrahydrozaluzanin C-3-O-β-glucopyranoside by spectral methods. The identity of 8 -epiisolippidiol and dentalactone was also discussed.
