Abstract:
Crew communication and crew resource management are readily recognized as critical to safety of flight. With the inclusion of a greater number of female pilots in a traditionally male crew environment, it is imperative to investigate how gender characteristics impact crew communication. This study was a meta-review of existing literature. There have been a number of studies that examined differences in masculine versus feminine communication characteristics in general.

The human factor/human element starts to have a key role in accidents and incidents during shipments at sea. Investigations show that poor communications increasingly are the root for many tragedies. A possible reason for communication constraints is the growing trend to employ multicultural crews. This thesis aims to document this new challenge in the maritime industry and to endeavour to show how the Maritime Education and Training (MET) can address the problem. The lack of a company crewing policy entails a variation in management standards; it causes confusion. Therefore, it is commonly ad

NASA has recently directed the United States into the largest global partnership in U.S. history — the development of an International Space Station. In order to collaborate successfully in this unique setting, participants must develop a strong sense of teamwork, camaraderie, and partnership. Previous research indicates a variety of factors, such as differences in cultural background and environmental factors, that may affect the ability to develop these successful relationships. This study analyzes cultural variance and disclosure dynamics between Russian cosmonauts and American astronauts.

Abstract:
Carrion crows (Corvus corone corone, L.) are highly intelligent birds in whose behaviour vocal communication plays a conspicuous part. Observation of crows reveals that their vocal repertoire is rich and varied. This study investigates the functions of the various acoustic signals produced by crows. Firstly, the signal repertoire of crows in the study area is described quantitatively with respect to call structure; previous studies have produced only variable, subjective definitions of crow calls. Next, the functions of the range of vocalizations are investigated using quantitative analyses wi

This project works to unveil emotional experiences on segregated public transportation from 1896 to 1964. In so doing, it opens up how feelings evoked by racial conflict on public transportation helped to fuel the black rights movement that demanded the end of the segregated system. Through examining plaintiffs of civil rights test cases, Pullman porters, members of the armed forces in the Second World War, and grassroots activists of the 1950s and 1960s, the thesis reassesses the familiar topics of segregated transportation and black resistance to it through the lens of emotions.
