Studies are based on the identification of gas distribution patterns in Pliocene sediments that were obtained from perforated wells. These studies include analyses of various forms of gases: free, associated (dissolved in oil) and water-dissolved. This integrated approach allows for a more accurate determination of gas accumulations and their characteristics within the study areas. The main direction of our research is a detailed study and analysis of gas composition, which allows us to identify dependencies and regularities of their distribution in Pliocene-age rocks. Reliability is the most important criteria in aerospace applications. This paper outlines the results of investigations and functional tests performed with hybrid bearings, ceramic bearings in comparison to all-steel bearings, to demonstrate the fatigue behaviour and reliability of silicon nitride components used in rolling bearings. The performance under specific operating conditions such as high speed, blade-loss and oil-off operation is outlined in this paper as well as comparative results of friction torque and bearing temperature.

Increasing efficiencies of modern aero-engines are accompanied by rising turbine inlet temperatures, pressure levels and rotational speeds. These operating conditions require a detailed knowledge of two-phase flow phenomena in secondary air and lubrication oil systems in order to predict correctly the heat transfer to the oil. It has been found in earlier investigations that especially at high rotational speeds the heat transfer rate within the bearing chambers is significantly increased with negative effects on the heat to oil management. MPD primarily helps operators drilling through narrow pore pressure - fracture gradient windows, thus minimizing the hazards of well control complications like high pressure influxes or mud losses and the same time mitigatin

Abstract The demand for increased efficiencies in modern aeroengines drives designs to higher pressure ratios, temperatures and shaft speeds. Consequently, higher cycle temperatures and parasitic heat loads are likely to become limiting factors in the design of bearing chambers. These chambers are lubricated and cooled with oil and pressurized using air taken from the main gas path. Historically, the temperature and pressure of the sealing air has been low enough to exclude the risk of bearing chamber oil fires caused by oil auto-ignition. This paper reports on experiments conducted in a horizontal rectangular duct, where the liquid phase was sheared by a strong gas stream. Field bends in large diameter pipe are routinely used in the construction of oil and gas pipelines. Mild ripples along the intrados are often unavoidable where such bends have a high D/t or high yield strength. Present regulations and industry standards differ in their treatment of mild ripples, ranging from silence to prohibition, depending upon interpretation. Consequently, the application of acceptance standards for such features is inconsistent, leading to variable standards of inspection and probable scrapping of otherwise sound bends.
