Schrive, Isabelle. "Isaïe 58 : une critique textuelle." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018STRAK006.
Full textThis thesis deals with textual criticism and is dedicated to chapter 58 of the Book of Isaiah. This chapter of the Trito-Isaiah is particularly characterized by infrequent words and a topic present only in these verses: the theme of the fast. Our study deals with six textual witnesses represented by the Hebrew text (1QIsaa and MT), the Septuagint and the textual traditions of the Old Latin, the Vulgate and the Targum. Based on four chapters with a thematic structure which recalls the prophetic plea, this thesis involves a statistical approach, a syntactical analysis, the study of lexical fields, and finally theological tendencies specific to each textual witness. Thus, each textual tradition reflects another step of the theological thinking and also a different socio political context. The Hebrew text contains rare terms, sometimes difficult to explain. The ancient traditions meet with editorial requirements specific to each language, and also reveal editorial options. If the Vulgate shows a great fidelity to the Hebrew text, the Septuagint is quite different. The Alexandrian redactor demonstrates a real editorial originality by changing the rhetoric of the Hebrew text, introducing stylistic device and simplifying the vocabulary. The targumic redactor, for his part, introduces significant modifications, either to avoid giving the Lord anthropomorphic characters or when his omnipotence could be put into question. He also emphasizes the explicative nature of the text with syntagma insertions. Finally, each translator introduces his own theological perspectives

Full textStarting from the research work done by Ernst HOHL, Susan H. Ballou and Blanche B. Boyer, and based on a full study of the manuscript tradition, this edition of the VITA MAXIMINORUM establishes a detailed classification of the various groups of manuscripts. The Carolingian archetype splits into two classes: the first one produced the common ancestor of the two Vatican, Pal. Lat. 899 and 886; it was known in its main outlines, worked out by HOHL; having undertaken this study ourselves, we have determined the position of the witnesses of the group he did not mention, refined or emended his propositions. The second line of descent generated a copy which was soon thoroughly revised and fell into four branches; after recension one of them led to a sub-group divided into two sections of three and five witnesses. The study of the text of the VITA MAXIMINORUM has allowed an investigation of these two recensions in order to track down the improvements or deteriorations - they produced

Full textThis thesis aims at understanding how the figure of Solomon, since the “Book of the acts of Solomon” mentioned in 1 K 11:41, until the time of Josephus, was read and re-read by successive historiographers in the light of the socio-religious circumstances of their own time. It is based on a study of the problems involved in the transmission and the textual reception, with a detailed attention on the problems arising from the Septuagint, and on a narrative analysis and set of themes of the accounts that are studied (1 K 1-11, 1 Chr 28-2 Chr 9, 3 Kgdms 1-11 and AJ 7:343:211). In 1 K, Solomon is severely judged on the basis of the exile and presented as a crafty, inaccurate and apostate king who, in spite of his building the temple, has betrayed God’s covenant. Later on, the Chronicler, the author of 3 Kgdms (and the translators) and Josephus strive to rebuild this image positively, in the light of the postexilic worship, or by a process of hellenization, but always with a consistent implicit diplomatic concern to spare possible non-Jews readers

Full textThe main issue of the thesis is to discover if a form of literary analysis can express an unquestionable structure of the biblical text so that it commands its interpretation. At first, the study specifies a method of working taking account of new progress in text linguistics and on the Hebrew verbal system. Then, a syntactic analysis is applied to Dt 1-11 in its present form. If the structure resulting of this procedure is probably difficult to challenge, it also brings new facts to light for an exegetical discourse about Deuteronomy, inviting to reconsider the theological value of the book. The results show that exegesis has probably not paid enough attention to benefits of structuring the biblical text in its present form, or to criteria of its organization. What is at stake in a syntactic approach prior to another form of analysis ?

Full textThe purpose of this thesis is to study the consistency and some aspects of the expressing of thoughts in one of the manuscripts of the roman de renart, manuscript c, thanks to the new publication brought out by messrs. Fukumoto, harano and suzuki in 1983 and 1985. The first part focused on the consistency, is divided up into three chapters: - chapter one concerns the determining of limits of narrative unity, understood in the formal sense in its relation to the graphical division; - the second envisages the main modifications brought in concerning the arrangement in manuscript c and their search for justifications; - the third concerns the consequences which these modifications bring in their wake in the elaboration of the global sen,se of the work. The second part deals more specifically with thre expressing of thoughts in some of its aspects : restricted to the prologue in chapter 4, the investigation is extended in the last chapter to the wohleness of the units

Full textThis thesis is dedicated to provencal christmas carols of nicolas saboly (1614-1675). After the analysis of the texts and of the new edition of 1699, supported by the study of the variants and the various linguistic specifities, it tackles the problems of translation. A double annotation has been made : one on an orthographique and syntactic base, under the provencal text; the other one related to the problems of translation and suggesting some comments in connection with the historical allusions and the sacred texts. At the sight of the whole of these elements it appears that saboly participates to the interprise of edification defined by the "tridentine" reform which recomended to resort to common languages for the transmission of faith. This thesis is composed of two volumes : volume i is composed to the intoduction, the bibliography and the glossaries. Volume ii contains the texts, their translation, accompanied by the critical apparatus
