In the nineteenth century many European nations, including Serbs and Croats became politically conscious of their "nationhood", which became a contributory factor in the crumbling of the two great empires in Central-East Europe - the Habsburg and the Ottoman - at the beginning of the following century. The Serbs had, since medieval times, an awareness of their long history and tradition, great medieval civilization and cultural unity regardless of the fact that they lived under several different adminis?trations. The Croat-Bosniak war is one of the least researched episodes of the Bosnian war. I reviewed the recent works of two regional authors who had access to original war records of the Bosnian Croats and the Bosniaks and then compared their findings with some of the representative views of secondary literature. Among other things, I focused on the Vance-Owen peace plan and the initial hostilities in the central Bosnian municipalities. My chief conclusion is that the importance placed on the Vance-Owen peace plan in secondary literature is misleading as it ignores the local military and political dy

SummaryDuring the past decennia, Vjekoslav Babukić’s Osnova slovnice slavjanske narěčja ilirskoga (Zagreb, 1836) has come to be widely regarded in Croatia as the first codification of a Štokavian-based standard language for all Croats and has enjoyed an accordingly privileged status. The present article is intended as a reminder that this grammar was undoubtedly written first and foremost as a foundation in order to create a common literary language for all South Slavs, at least for the Croats, Serbs, and Slovenes. English Abstract: The ties between Croats and Czechs, based on common Slavic roots, can be traced back to the distant past. From the eighteenth century, especially while belonging to the same state, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Czechs immigrated in large numbers to the territory of today's Croatia. First came farmers in search of free land to cultivate, and later craftsmen, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and artists arrived. The subject of cooperation between Croatians and Czechs in the sound recording industry can be traced from the paper labels on recordings, which reveal that many Czech reco

The second approach is more recent, studying youth literature as an independent art form. What is particularly important is the process of institutionalising youth literature as an area of teaching at universities in Slovenia, especially after the year 1990. In what ways does Istanbul appeal to Yugoslav travel writers? What impact did political circumstances and relations between the two states have?

All of the novels examined can be read as pedagogies of reconciliation due to their engagement with – and subversion of – the goals, processes, issues, and outcomes of the 1990s reconciliation movement. Yet, while these texts are all broadly framed by reconciliation, this thesis argues that it is their commitment to reimagining spaces of home which marks them as particularly productive reconciliatory ped

Abstract:
Cover crops can provide environmental benefits, and their use is increasing across the United States. Cover crops can also be costly to implement. The literature suggests that for livestock operations, grazing or harvesting cover crops for forage can be profitable due to the forage benefit. However, a new analysis of Federal data shows that around 14 percent of cattle operations with cropland grew cover crops in 2017. Certain types of cattle operations are more likely to report cover crop use. Dairy and feedlot operations are more than twice as likely to use cover crops as cattle operations ov

Abstract:
This seminar provides an in-depth exploration of cross-lagged modeling for categorical variables using Mplus, focusing on interpreting temporal relationships and addressing complex modeling challenges in longitudinal research. Participants will gain practical skills in specifying models, handling missing data, and reporting results, enhancing their ability to conduct rigorous academic research and critically evaluate existing literature.

Abstract:
Pricing policy recommendations infrastructure services are based on two principles. One is that prices should cover the total cost of the service. The other is that cross subsidy schemes should be avoided. This technical paper explores the economic literature for rules on applying these principles to real world infrastructure services. The discussion is based on a partial equilibrium approach that uses market surplus as a proxy for social welfare and efficiency. Three main conclusions are reached in this paper. First, if a uniform price schedule is established and prices diverge from marginal

Abstract:
One explanation for the increasing number of hectares with coca cultivation is that eradication strategies displace coca crops but fail to completely clear affected areas. In the drug policy literature, that dynamic shifting is commonly known as the balloon effect. This study integrates georeferenced agricultural data through spatially explicit econometric models to test the hypothesis that forced eradication displace coca crops. Using annual data for 1,116 contiguous municipalities in Colombia between 2001 and 2015, we estimate a spatial Durbin model with municipal and time fixed effects. Our
