Il saggio illustra come, nella provincia di Modena, la pianificazione economica dell'amministrazione locale comunista e socialista, alla base della nascita dei distretti industriali, abbia beneficiato del contributo di una corrente locale della Dc: la "sinistra cattolica" guidata da Ermanno Gorrieri. L'azione di questo gruppo (che mirava principalmente all'industrializzazione delle zone depresse della Bassa padana, alla costruzione di infrastrutture e di attrezzature per il turismo nell'area appenninica) interagě con quella dell'amministrazione nell'elaborazione di un modello che sposava efficacemente sviluppo economico e sviluppo del welfare. Dopo aver ricostruito il percorso della "sinistra cattolica modenese" (dall'Azione cattolica alla Resistenza, al legame con la corrente di Dossetti) e la peculiaritŕ della sua cultura politica - ispirata a un'idea di "anticomunismo" democratico, concorrenziale rispetto al comunismo stesso -, l'autore ne analizza le vicende negli anni del boom economico e del primo centro-sinistra, segnati dalla discussione sulla programmazione economica. Il gruppo vi partecipň attivamente, costituendo un esempio di ricezione e rielaborazione "dal basso" della teoria dell'interventismo economico (filtrata attraverso le categorie di "Cronache sociali" e di Mario Romani).

No “bem um estranho guia” da Bahia, Jorge Amado propõe uma autodefinição que também pode ser utilizada para explicar um aspecto nada secundário da obra narrativa de Leonardo Sciascia e Andrea Camilleri: “Narra o que sabe por tê-lo vivido, herói de seus livros é o povo, sua meta a alcançar é o porvir”. Para falar de seu primeiro escrito (que se intitulará Le parrocchie di Regalpetra), Sciascia utiliza o termo “cronaca” (que aparece no título do capítulo “Cronache scolastiche”): crônicas de um lugarejo – Regalpetra – que o escritor conhece a fundo, em sua fisionomia histórica e social, e com relação ao qual pode escrever, pois sabe por tê-lo vivido. Da mesma maneira, Camilleri – nos romances históricos e civis, assim como nos policiais, mas também em escritos de menor estruturação narrativa, se não mesmo ocasionais, como podem ser as páginas que descrevem alguns aspectos de Porto Empedocle – implícita ou explicitamente se qualifica como testemunha (“vi de meu terraço”). Também os dois escritores italianos contam o que sabem, portanto, e – cada qual com a própria estratégia narrativa e com a visão do mundo que lhes pertence – constituem o povo como herói de seus livros. Mais complexo é dizer se (como o escritor brasileiro) consideram que a meta a ser alcançada seria o porvir, e o que afinal significaria, para um e para outro, a ideia do porvir: de que tonalidades políticas e sociais se colore, de quais (e diversíssimos) humores é composto o conceito, destinado a estimular vívidas páginas narrativas.

This article aims to provide a systematic, comparative analysis of two of the main women's mass publications in order to trace continuities and changes in the development of women's role in the public sphere in Italy. The analysis begins with an elaboration of the social and political context, which is crucial for the understanding of media texts in general. It shows how the existence of only limited political spaces in post-war Italian society due to the polarisation of Catholicism and communism delayed both an open political discourse on women's conditions and the gradual development of an autonomous and lay feminist movement. Noi Donne of Union Donne Italiene (UDI) was closely aligned with and financed by the Italian Communist Party (PCI) and lacked any substantial autonomy until the early 1970s, while Cronache of the Catholic women's organisation Centro Italiano Femminile (CIF) was a faithful instrument for the propagation of those Catholic concepts of femininity that were redefined and reinforced by the Vatican in the Catholic publication Civiltà Cattolica.

Con l’avvento dei moderni mezzi di comunicazione di massa e, soprattutto, dei social network, le dispute linguistiche hanno assunto attori e prassi completamente diversi rispetto al passato: dalle accademie il dibattito si è ormai trasferito su internet e sui giornali, coinvolgendo un pubblico non specialista, ampio e diversificato per composizione e livello d’istruzione, il quale ha profondamente cambiato le modalità con cui vengono affrontate le questioni relative alla norma. Attraverso l’analisi di alcune di dispute linguistiche salite agli onori della cronaca in questi ultimi anni, il contributo si propone di tracciare i nuovi percorsi e di comprendere i nuovi modi in cui si sviluppa ai giorni nostri il dibattito sulla norma linguistica, sia nei media tradizionali, sia nei Social media.

- The French May appears in the Italian daily press as a representation of events removed from the mythological array that on the May was brought about during the month of May 1968. All that hindered, and still does, a correct historical definition of the problems and course of events. However, it should be noticed that the great breadth, the attempt to a concrete widening of the social participation, the deep feeling of shared enthusiasm on the part of rising classes such as the students or outcast such as the workers, triggered off a mental projection which, although still bearing traces of mythicizing, newly defined for the '68 veterans the French May as a place of the memory of the 1968 movement.

La costruzione sociale della malattia mentale, intesa come rappresentazione collettiva, č fortemente influenzata nel mondo della tarda modernitŕ dai media; anche la rappresentazione di ciň che viene definito "pericoloso" subisce le stesse, per quanto non uniche, influenze attraverso diversi formati mediatici: cronaca, documentari e talk-show, fiction e film, piů rare trasmissioni speciali di sensibilizzazione. Il superamento della istituzione manicomiale ha reso piů prossime e visibili le persone con disagio mentale, ma ciň non pare aver modificato la paura del "coinvolgimento occulto" vissuto come minaccia del senso comune: l'altro delirante condivide la stessa rappresentazione della realtŕ di tutti? In questa prospettiva di difesa sociale la responsabilitŕ del comportamento socialmente "occulto" viene imputata, anche penalmente, all'esperto. Ne derivano da un lato un rinforzo culturale della pericolositŕ per effetto di una ricostruzione selettiva dei fatti attraverso una concatenazione semplice causa-effetto, dall'altro una convergenza verso stereotipi ulteriormente stigmatizzanti.

Un'inedita cronaca manoscritta tratta degli eventi vissuti e delle terre visitate o soltanto osservate nel corso di quindici navigazioni compiute dal suo autore, imbarcato su una delle galere dell'Ordine mediceo di Santo Stefano negli anni tra 1602-1616, all'interno dell'intero bacino del Mediterraneo. Le descrizioni, che non si limitano ai soli caratteri fisici, ma sono arricchite da note su struttura sociale, usanze e tradizioni, economia locale e principali risorse produttive, sono arricchite da circa 200 disegni. L'assoluta autonomia dell'autore, che scrive per se stesso e non per un committente da compiacere, induce a considerare le informazioni fornite come oggettive. Ciň consente di ricostruire l'immagine precisa e realistica di terre e popoli mediterranei, all'interno di un importante momento storico: l'etŕ delle guerre dei corsari e dei conflitti tra le principali potenze, impegnate a contendersi il predominio sul Mediterraneo e sull'Occidente (Francia, Spagna, Impero Ottomano), e gli Stati loro alleati. Particolarmente significativa, a tal proposito, č la descrizione dei territori ellenici, presenza importante a\ll'interno del manoscritto e in cui la cristianitŕ convive in maniera piů o meno pacifica con il nemico ottomano. Č uno scenario estremamente variegato, di cui l'autore mette in risalto le peculiaritŕ e le "stranezze" sia per quanto riguarda i sistemi urbani o comunque antropizzati, sia, soprattutto per ciň che riguarda gli aspetti antropologici e sociali, lontani dalla cultura e dalle tradizioni dell'autore.

This article looks into the representations of the Italian literary salon in the print press during the 1880s. Special attention will be given to Matilde Serao’s mediation in the private as well as in the public sphere and to her double role as salon chronicler and salon attendee. Her views with regard to the artistic and political landscape of fin de siecle Italy will be examined through a series of chronicles on Pasquale Mancini, Baroness Magliani, Francesco De Renzis and the salon of the literary magazine Capitan Fracassa. The representations of these salons in the fortnightly periodical Cronaca Bizantina (Rome, 1881–1886) as well as in the daily newspaper Corriere di Roma (1883–1886) offered a new reading experience to a wide audience and encouraged the creation of an imagined community of salon attendees. Thus, salon participation will be studied through the prism of the periodical press, which interpreted salon life as a meaningful collective experience and a decisive factor in the formation of culture. Serao’s chronicle will also be viewed as an instrument of social critique, which raised questions on the rapid expansion of mass media, the growing demand for human progress, the withering away of politics and the growing importance of art as a means of personal expression.

La satira è un paradigma estremo della libertà di espressione, ma esistono incertezze sulla sua definizione concettuale e sulla relativa disciplina giuridica. Lo sviluppo della comunicazione ha prodotto numerose figure letterarie simili tra loro come la cronaca (una registrazione impersonale e non interpretativa di fatti accaduti), la critica (analisi soggettiva e giudizio relativi a fatti accaduti) e la satira (critica sarcastica di personaggi, comportamenti, modi di fare individuali con scopo di denuncia sociale). Gli elementi che caratterizzano la satira, sviluppatisi nel corso dei secoli, sono sostanzialmente due: attenzione alle contraddizioni (della politica, della società, della religione, della cultura) e intento moralistico per promuovere un cambiamento sociale. La satira religiosa colpisce il potere ecclesiastico e le sue contraddizioni, ma colpisce anche i simboli religiosi e i contenuti delle religioni. Ne conseguono differenti conseguenze giuridiche. Quando colpisce il patrimonio di fede dei credenti essa non è accettabile. La satira religiosa genera una specie di conflitto tra differenti valori costituzionali, e cioè tra il diritto alla libera espressione del pensiero e il diritto alla reputazione e alla tutela del sentimento religioso. Il diritto di satira in generale è riconosciuto dagli ordinamenti giuridici (sia internazionali, sia nazionali) come diritto soggettivo di rilevanza costituzionale, che deriva dalla libertà di espressione e di pensiero. Pensiero, coscienza e religione – per esempio nella Carta dei diritti fondamentali dell’Unione europea – sono omologhi (come beni giuridici o valori etici). Pertanto pensiero, coscienza e religione non possono essere in contrapposizione tra loro. Notevoli incertezze esistono sulla disciplina giuridica del diritto di satira, che non può mai offendere i diritti fondamentali della persona, la sua dignità, la sua reputazione. La Carta di Nizza ha favorito un orientamento, che considera il diritto di libera espressione nella sua forma più ampia ed espansiva. È tuttavia sempre stato affermato il valore prevalente dei diritti umani fondamentali, che non possono essere offesi dall’esercizio del diritto di satira. Negli ordinamenti giuridici nazionali, la forza del diritto di satira consiste nel riconoscimento del suo rango costituzionale, ma anche nei limiti che deve avere. La giurisprudenza ha elaborato i vincoli “formali”, tra i quali i più importanti sono il limite della continenza e della funzionalità.
