Deltapine 458B/RR, Deltapine 5415RR, Deltapine 20B, and Deltapine 20 cotton varieties were planted on June 5 into narrow 15 inch wide rows. Populations ranged from 80,000 to 100,000 plants per acre. Seed cotton was stripper harvested on December 17. Although lint yields were somewhat low (1- 2 bale/acre) for this late planted cotton, we learned several important practices for effective narrow row cotton production systems, based on our first years experience in western Arizona.

Investigates the accuracy of different crop and soil organic matter models for predicting crop yield, nitrogen uptake and changes in soil organic carbon and nitrogen. Compares the models with data from long-term field experiments on wheat in Australia and sorghum in Ethiopia. Finds that a higher crop yield and better nitrogen and water utilisation can be achieved if addition of nitrogen fertilizer is balanced with soil water.

The optimal N application rates were investigated with the effects of stover management on maize production and its possible interaction with N fertilization. A field experiment was conducted from 2010 to 2014. The rates of mineral N fertilization applied were: 0, 100, 200 and 300 kg N ha-1 year-1. Our results suggested that grain yield, biomass, grain and plant N uptake and SPAD-units were all greatly affected by N fertilization rates. Maximum yield values (19.93 and 19.20 Mg ha−1) were achieved with N application rates of 200 kg ha-1. Our results suggested that returning stover to the soil

Genotypic differences in growth and yield of two common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L) cultivars to Rhizobium inoculation and management were investigated. In 2003-04, the two bean cultivars (Scylla and T-49) were combined with three inoculant treatments (strains CC 511 and RCR 3644, and a control of no inoculation), two fertiliser levels (0 and 150 kg N ha⁻¹) and two irrigation treatments (irrigated and rainfed).
