Abstract:
This research project was a cross-cultural field experiment designed to measure the effects of "national culture" (U.S. and Mexican) upon group performance in GSS (Group Support Systems) and non-GSS environments. Relatively few studies have considered cultural dimensions in their analysis of GSS and even fewer have employed empirical data to test their hypotheses. In view of the significant global developments in information technology, this has been a disappointing shortcoming of current information technology (IT) research. Two groups of hypotheses were developed that predicted the effects o

Conscientiousness is defined by characteristics such as hard-working, determined, dutiful and perseverance. Conscientiousness is also a strong indicator of work performance and is often used for psychometric assessments during selection. However, in South Africa psychometric assessment, and especially personality testing, has been scrutinized to ensure that it is fair and unbiased in a multicultural society.

Abstract:
Self-initiated expatriates (SIEs) are an important source of global talent, but SIEs’ research is in the pre-paradigm state of development; hence this dissertation aimed to expand knowledge about SIEs. We conducted an integrative literature review and six empirical studies. Through the integrative review we identified what is known about SIEs and what can be further explored. In the empirical studies we: 1) explored the conceptual significance of SIEs (chapter 2); 2) developed and tested a cross-cultural adaptation model for emerging adult (EA) SIEs (chapter 3); and 3) investigated EA SI
