Abstract:
With the rapid growth of world-wide information accessibility, cross-language information retrieval (CLIR) has become a prominent concern for search engines. Traditional CLIR technologies require special purpose components and need high quality translation knowledge (e.g. machine readable dictionaries, machine translation systems) and careful tuning to achieve high ranking performance. However, with the help of a neural network architecture, it’s possible to solve CLIR problem without extra tuning or special components. Query translation and sense indexing based CLIR approaches are used in this study. The inherent challenge is to establish a computational model that maps specific information needs, to a large audience, in a personalized way. Therefore, it is necessary to mediate informat

Several studies have suggested that the effect of cultural differences among Information Systems (IS) professionals from different nations on the development and implementation of IS could be important. However, IS research has generally not considered culture when investigating the process of systems development. This study examined the relationship between the cultural backgrounds of IS designers and their process-related values with a field survey in Singapore, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Abstract:
The Social Web, or Web 2.0, has recently gained popularity because of its low cost and ease of use. Social tagging sites (e.g. Flickr and YouTube) offer new principles for end-users to publish and classify their content (data). Tagging systems contain free-keywords (tags) generated by end-users to annotate and categorise data. Lack of semantics is the main drawback in social tagging due to the use of unstructured vocabulary. Therefore, tagging systems suffer from shortcomings such as low precision, lack of collocation, synonymy, multilinguality, and use of shorthands.
