Abstract:
It is a known problem that a Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) can interact with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) when both devices are implanted in the same patient. Interactions between the SCS and ICD can cause inappropriate therapy which can be harmful to the patient. While ICD devices have a distinct narrowband sensing bandwidth, the pulse configurations that current SCS devices deliver were not designed with this frequency region in mind. In this thesis, I recommend a new pulse configuration for SCS devices that will minimize the interaction between the two devices. I produce a

Understanding the mechanisms regulating root development under drought conditions is an important question for plant biology and world agriculture. This thesis examines the effect of osmotic stress on the plant hormones abscisic acid (ABA), cytokinin and ethylene responses and how they mediate auxin transport, distribution and root growth via PIN proteins Root growth is reduced under osmotic stress, and ABA responses increase. Root growth can be rescued by inhibiting ABA biosynthesis, indicating its critical role in the regulation of growth under stress. There was also a reduction in cytokinin

In general, the SA pathway is activated by biotrophic pathogens and primarily induces antimicrobial responses, while JA is activated by necrotrophic pathogens and herbivory, and induces separate chemical responses. Emerging evidence, however, suggests that the mechanisms of GR action are more complex than previously assumed, with many reports of pro-inflammatory actions of GCs via the GR.
