Abstract This work describes the preliminary evaluation of cytotoxic, antimicrobial, molluscicidal, antioxidant and anticholinesterase activities from leaf (LECF) and stem bark alcoholic extracts (BECF) of the species Croton floribundus Spreng. (Euphorbiaceae), popularly known as capixingui or tapixingui. Fibres with intrusive cavities were present in Alchornea sidifolia, Alchornea triplinervia, Croton floribundus, Sapium glandulatum, and Sebastiania serrata (Euphorbiaceae). These cavities are the result of an intrusive growth of fibres which detour when they encounter a cellular obstacle, form either a fork or a concavity around the obstacle, and subsequently unite. O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar a influência de diferentes temperaturas e da imersão em água na germinação de sementes de capixingui (Croton floribundus Spreng). Inicialmente, as sementes foram submetidas à germinação a 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 20-30 e 25-35ºC, com e sem imersão das mesmas em água fria (temperatura ambiente) por duas horas. In this paper we showed that water deficit affects the wood vessels of Croton floribundus in five areas with different vegetation types: Rain Forest, Semi-deciduous Forest and Woody Savanna. ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to select allometric models to estimate total and pooled aboveground biomass of 4.5-year-old capixingui trees established in an agrisilvicultural system. The taxonomic study was based on herbarium collections, besides fieldwork to understand the morphological variability of the species.
