Introdução: Os hábitos parafuncionais correspondem à atividade parafuncional do sistema estomatognático e podem induzir hiperatividade muscular, alterações articulares, dentárias e periodontais para além de serem fatores etiológicos das disfunções temporomandibulares (DTM) e da dor orofacial. Abstract:

INTRODUÇÃO: As parafunções do sistema estomatognático, consistem numa atividade neuromuscular sem qualquer propósito funcional. Decorrente destes hábitos nocivos podem surgir malformações a nível dentário, esquelético e tecidular, bem como evidências clínicas que atestem a sua presença, como desgaste dentário e fissuras dentárias. MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Foi realizado um estudo observacional transversal, clínico e sem intervenção.
