Abstract:
The Nigerian economy has relied heavily on crude oil production since independence in 1960. As a consequence, it has seen an influx of multinational petroleum companies with oil exploration and associated activities having significant environmental impacts, particularly oil leakage and spillage into soil and the overall degradation of the ecosystem in the Niger Delta area. This study aims to find a viable solution to the remediation of polluted soil by comparing two thermal remediation techniques, namely microwave pyrolysis and traditional pyrolysis, which has been investigated using a Gray-Ki

Oil spills are a universal threat impacting local, national and world communities alike. Bioremediation that is natural, efficient, economical and safe is the best solution for protecting the environment from oil related damages. Mineral salt broth containing 1 Ow-40 motor oil as the sole carbon source was used to isolate motor oil degrading bacteria. Initial work involved chemical and microbial characterisation of the contaminated soil. 碩士
中華醫事科技大學
生物安全衛生研究所
99
This paper aims at discussing the influence of the quantity of SOM (soil organic matter) on the biodegradation of TPHd in diesel-polluted soil. The target pollutant is diesel oil, called TPHd thereof, with the initial concentration of 4000 mg/kg. The soil experimented are Gueiren Soil and Peat. Soils are differentiated with the quantity of SOM. They are: Gr2 (SOM 2.2%), Gpeat5 (SOM 4.6%), Gpeat10 (SOM 8.7%), and Gpeat20 (SOM 17.9%). The soil experimented are anticepticized with methyl alcohol and then separated as experimental group and control group. The e

Abstract:
Remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons in polar environments is more costly and logistically and technically more difficult than corresponding temperate and tropical contaminated sites. Bioremediation and in-situ chemical oxidation (ICO) are possible strategies which may overcome the financial and technical challenges associated with polar-region site remediation. ICO involves introducing reactive chemicals to contaminated soils so that organic contaminants such as petroleum hydrocarbons are oxidised to environmentally innocuous compounds, while bioremediation relies on microbial activit

M.Tech. (Operations Management)
The field of study is of a multi-disciplinary nature relating to chemistry, microbiology, electrical engineering, soil technology and legislation dealing with different aspects of soil, water and environmental contamination in South Africa The relevant basic principles involved as applicable to the problem being researched are discussed in the dissertation. The reader is introduced to the statement ofthe problem in Chapter 1. A study was carried out of research projects which were conducted elsewhere in the world with regard to oil pollution and the remediati
