Abstract One of the trends in design solutions of crushers ensuring the crushing ratio of about 30 involves the application of the vibratory-impulse action to the material to be crushed. Crushers utilising these effects are referred to as vibratory crushers. During the vibratory crushing the material to be disintegrated is subjected to the action of fast changing shearing forces, which leads to the material being crushed either by applied impulses or by fatigue action, unlike conventional crushers where the structure of the material is damaged by the applied pressure. This licentiate thesis deals with the Modeling, Control, and On-line optimization of Cone Crushers. Cone crushers are used for size reduction of minerals and are considered as a central element in many mineral processing plants. It consists of a cone rotating eccentrically inside a larger bowl and the particles are crushed in the cavity between these. In spite of its simple construction, the cone crusher represents a complex system from a modeling point of view, as its operation comprises many physical actions that are combined together to give the overall behavior. The main purpose of the work

In the comminution industry, cone crushers are widely used for secondary and subsequent stages of size reduction. For a given crusher, the achieved size reduction is governed by the closed-side setting. Hadfield Steel is commonly used to line the crushing members to minimize wear. Yet, liner wear caused by some rock types can still be excessive. Enlargement of discharge opening induced by wear of liners produces a drift in product size which, if unchecked, can lead to high volumes of re-circulating load. Alteration of closed-side setting is now commonly achieved via hydraulic means. However, c

Abstract One of the main wear mechanisms experienced by materials in oil sands processing applications is material-loss due to impact. Components such as crushers, breakers and sizing screens can be subject to impact damage due to the presence of rocks and boulders. In conjunction with Suncor Energy, the Alberta Research Council has designed and built a test rig to allow for the evaluation of a material’s resistance to repeated impact. Abstract:
After an airfield has been attacked, temporary airfield pavement repairs should be accomplished quickly to restore flight operations. Often, the repairs are made with inadequate materials and insufficient manpower due to limited available resources. Legacy airfield damage repair (ADR) methods for repairing bomb damage consist of using bomb damage debris to fill the crater, followed by placement of crushed stone or rapid-setting flowable fill backfill with a foreign object debris (FOD) cover. While these backfill methods have provided successful results, they are heavily dependent on specific m
