Abstract Background Entinostat is a novel, potent, once weekly, orally bioavailable, class I selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor. In a previous Phase II study, the combination of entinostat with exemestane showed significant improvement of overall survival in patients with advanced hormone receptor (HR) positive breast cancer. To verify and further confirm the benefit of HDAC inhibitor in combination with exemestane we designed a randomized, controlled trial to assess the efficacy and safety in a larger population of Chinese patients with advanced, HR positive breast cancer. This qualitative case study explored the operational curricula of an art teacher’s responsive pedagogy that focused on the differentiation aspects for artistically talented students in an elementary school in Taiwan. Findings indicate that cultivating a Jian Zi is the heart of the value system embedded in the art teacher’s responsive pedagogy for the development of art talent. Jian Zi means a superior person with both talent and virtue ( Cai De Jian Bei). Three themes are discussed: (a) qualitatively differentiated curricula for fostering sensitivity to human concerns; (b) harmonic integration

The conceptual changes of Jian in the pre-Qin period were the results of changes in the social and political structure. It originally referred to Jian virtue, which was a kind of political norm of clan states. This required the aristocrats to be moderate in accordance with the patriarchal hierarchy and generously share their wealth with their own clansmen. The opposite of Jian virtue is Tan ( greed) and Chi ( extravagance). In the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period, many states formed their politics based on ministerial families. The aristocrats glorified greed and extravagance as Fu ( ric

Abstract:
Documentary film in the PRC has become an important mode in the palate of Sixth Generation (or urban or independent) filmmaking. The recent prominence of documentary turns on the notion of indexicality and the capacity for film to present reality. Jia Zhangke, probably the most critically acclaimed of Sixth Generation filmmakers, in his film practice, though largely conforming to this long-take, observational documentary style, also brazenly deploys technologies such as nondiegetic music and CGI effects. On the face of it, these tactics may seem to undermine the indexical reality portrayed in Jia’s films, but on further consideration actually augment his historical project of capturing China’s contemporary moment.

Abstract:
E-collaboration technologies are broadly defined as electronic technologies that enable collaboration among individuals engaged in a common task (Kock, Davison, Ocker, & Wazlawick, 2001; Kock & Davison, 2003; Kock 2004, 2005). The reasons to enter inside the Internet are huge market value and effective data transactions (Perkins, 2000). The developments of electronic collaborations turn out the hard task into a soft one. This technology development allows the whole sectors to leverage the powers of the Internet and communication network to coordinate their efforts and the e-business models have provided the workable infrastructure for group communication and information processing (Jian Cai, 2004). Many published studies have also shown that, besides technologies the social aspects are essential for the success of collaboration (Briggs, 2003; Easley, 2003). The social aspects that lie behind this article are the speedy and effective services provided by the collaboration technologies for the patients. This article mainly speaks on how the deficiency of the blood can be solved by the blood banks. For this purpose a standard model has been created, in which the blood donors can be connected electronically with patients under the network assistance provided by the blood banks and the hospitals.

Abstract:
This chapter highlights the Precious Scroll, as Preached by the Buddha, of Little Huaxian: How Woman Yang as a Ghost Embroidered Red Gauze, which was first introduced to the scholarly world in an article by Ma Xisha in 1986. It cites that the expression “newly cut” from the Precious Scroll implies that the preserved edition was not the first printing. It also talks about the imperial court involved, which was the Jürched Jin dynasty, as Chongqing was a reign period that lasted only one year during the short rule of Weishaowang. The chapter stresses the similarities of the formal features of the present text of the Precious Scroll to the precious scrolls of the sixteenth century, wherein the dates 1212 and 1290 are rejected as fakes. It explains why the Precious Scroll stood out due to its atypical factuality and considered a commercial venture.

Abstract:
This chapter steps into the post-1987, post-developmental period of democratization and neoliberal transformation in South Korea and considers the conditions that shaped the invisibility of yŏgong and the underappreciation of their contributions in the current organized labor movement and in the larger society. It features Pusan's female shoe workers' resistance to capital flight in the 1990s and assesses shifting gender politics in the union movement before and after the 1987 Great Workers' Struggle. The unresolved nature of the gender question reveals itself starkly in the case of woman welder Kim Jin-Sook in the changed neoliberal environment of the twenty-first century. During this period, the progress that workers had achieved through massive strike waves in the 1980s and 1990s has eroded significantly under new management strategies aiming at reducing union power to cut costs and regain control on the shop floor. The process of irregularization of the workforce accelerated following the Asian financial crisis of 1997–98 and reached the unionized large-firm, heavy-industry regular male workers, engendering ferocious and long-lasting labor disputes. Meanwhile, an apathy toward labor struggle has become widespread in society, as many South Koreans have lost interest in embracing industrial workers as an essential component of nation-building.

Abstract:
This chapter interrogates the geopolitical implications of a contemporary development in the region’s media industries — the institutionalization of location shooting into modes of nation branding that commoditize cultural signs in line with the states’ soft power objectives. Drawing from examples of recent location-shot film and media, including En Chen’s Island Etude, Chi Po-lin’s Beyond Beauty, and Zhejiang TV's Keep Running, I demonstrate how location shooting since Taiwan’s membership in the WTO has been institutionalized within the discursive contours of the “Love Taiwan” movement, a process which can be compared with the PRC’s marketing of the “Chinese Dream” to domestic tourists via convergent and place-based film and televisual media. While the resulting national brands could not appear more different, these discourses operate on the shared assumption that for place identities to be readily consumable and exportable, they must be coherent within a global “experience economy” that circulates images of distinctive yet fixed cultural identities. This reduction of place into readily consumable cultural signs can be contrasted with the enigmatic representation of Shanghai found in Jia Zhangke's I Wish I Knew, which fashions on-screen Doreen Massey’s notion of the “progressive place,” a poststructuralist reinterpretation of place that focuses on conflicting sociocultural processes that imbue spaces with richly layered meanings. Building on Massey's concept of the progressive place, this chapter argues that location-shot film and media in China and Taiwan, more than offering diversely themed experiences, have untapped potential in cultivating alternative public cultures through reflexive, minor, and performative modes of place making.

Ryoichi Kuwano of Kyushu University showed (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 808) that diastereomerically and enantiomerically pure pyrollidines such as 2 could be prepared by hydrogenation of the corresponding pyrrole. Victor S. Martín of Universidad de la Laguna found (Organic Lett. 2008, 10, 2349) that the stereochemical outcome of the pyrrolidine-forming Nicholas cyclization could be directed by the protecting group on the N. Jianbo Wang of Peking University established (J. Org. Chem. 2008, 73, 1971) a convenient route to diazo esters such as 6. N-H insertion led to the pyrrolidine, which Zhen-Jiang Xu of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry and Chi-Ming Che of the University of Hong Kong showed (Organic Lett. 2008, 10, 1529) could be reduced with high diastereoselectivity to the hydroxy ester 7. Alternatively, Professor Wang found that photochemical Wolff rearrangement of 6 delivered the pyrrolidone 8 . Martin J. Slater and Shiping Xie of GlaxoSmithKline optimized (J. Org. Chem. 2008, 73, 3094) the hydroquinine catalyzed enantioselective 3+2 cycloaddition of 9 and 10, leading to the pyrrolidine 11 with high diastereocontrol. Shu Kobayashi of the University of Tokyo developed (Adv. Synth. Cat. 2008, 350, 647) a practical protocol for the aza Diels-Alder construction of enantiomerically-pure piperidines such as 14 . Biao Yu of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry cyclized (Tetrahedron Lett. 2008, 49, 672) the product from the proline-catalyzed enantioselective aldol of 15 and 16, leading to the substituted piperidine 17 . Michael Shipman of the University of Warwick described (Tetrahedron Lett. 2008, 49, 250) the cyclization of the aziridine derived from 18, that proceeded to give 19 as a single diastereomer, apparently via kinetic side-chain protonation. Takeo Kawabata of Kyoto University found (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 4153) that intramolecular alkylation to form four, five and six-membered rings from amino esters such as 21 proceeded with remarkable enantioretention. Géraldine Masson and Jieping Zhu of CNRS, Gif-sur-Yvette, condensed (Organic Lett. 2008, 10, 1509) cinnamaldehyde 23 with cyanide and an ω-alkenyl amine to give the intramolecular aza-Diels-Alder substrate 24. Hongbin Zhai of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry acylated (J. Org. Chem. 2008, 73, 3589) 26 with 27, leading to the ring-closing metathesis precursor 28.
