Two strains of mosquito iridescent viruses (Chloriridovirus) were isolated in Ukraine from seek larvae of bloodsucking mosquitoes Culiseta annulata (Schrank, 1776) and Culiseta morsitans (Theobald, 1901). Electron microscopic study of tissues from these larvae revealed icosahedral virus particles ranging from 180 nm to 5 nm in diameter, containing dense, pleomorphic nucleotides. Viruses were assembled in the cytoplasm within spherical virosomes. Both viruses contained DNA and 11 polypeptides with molecular weights varying from 16 kD to 98 kD. The qualitative composition and biology of aquatic invertebrates of the periodical pools of the lower Podyjí region is presented in the study. Periodical vernal poools emerge after snow thawing, rains or floods. The summer periodical pools are at lower reaches of the Dyje River very rare. In this sort of pools live e. g. Abstract:
From September 2020 to April 2021 a mosquito monitoring activity was carried out in the Caffarella Valley within the Appia Antica Regional Park in Rome, a very popular urban park completely surrounded by densely populated neighborhoods. During this entomological survey, we collected 798 mosquito larvae that were identified by morphology and by molecular tools. Out of these samples, eight taxa have been identified morphologically or molecularly in case of complex of species, belonging to five genera: Culex pipiens (49.1%, n=392), Culiseta annulata (16%, n=128), Culiseta longiareolata (13.1%, n=

Nuisance, allergy, and vector role: mosquitoes are responsible for numerous inconveniences. Several strategies have been employed to fight against this confirmed vector. To record the diversity of mosquito vectors in Camargue (France) and assess the effectiveness of the Qista trap, six BAMs were deployed as a belt barrier to protect the Espeyran Castle (Saint-Gilles, Camargue). Prior to evaluating the reduction in the nuisance rate, recovery nets from the traps and human landing catches (HLC) were utilized twice a week in the treated and control areas. Overall, 85,600 mosquitoes were captured,

Using light and electron microscopy, as well as molecular phylogenetic methods, we described a new species of monoxenous trypanosomatids, Zelonia daumondi sp. nov., based on three isolates collected in northwestern Russia: two from the predatory pentatomid bug Picromerus bidens (Linnaeus, 1758) and one from an overwintering female mosquito Culiseta annulata (Schrank, 1776). This is the first record of a member of the genus Zelonia Shaw, Camargo et Teixeira, 2018 in the Holarctic Region and the most northern one in the world.
