Abstract:
A premise normally held is that as translators become more experienced they change the way that they tackle certain challenges, perhaps as a result of their efficiency, improvement in knowledge or through adoption of certain norms. This article looks at one translator’s approach to the problems of literary allusions and cultural references. I examine the categories into which allusions and cultural references can be placed with regard both to their type (e.g. Baker 1992, Leppihalme 1994, Nord 1997, Yarosh 2013) and (apparent) function in the source text (Leppihalme 1994) as well as the types of solutions used by the translator (Newmark 1988). Selected examples from a single translation by an individual translator are analysed in order to establish the feasibility of using such categorisations in further work. With some minor adaptation, the categories proposed appear to offer a sound framework for later research that will seek to establish whether or not the translator’s approach changes over time.

Translation of cultural references can be effective and beneficially achieve various purposes depending on how they are transferred into another language. Virtually, cultural references refer to any word with considerably conceptual effects used for influencing conventional and societal intents. However, cultural references that are relatively belonged to a certain language are not equally observed in culture of another language; they derive their significations from the cultural characteristics of a community. Wherefore, cultural significations suchlike conventions, aesthetic values, and doctrines which are directly concerned with bridging intents lose their intentional importance or even work the opposite in another language. The incompatibility of dramatic references in their stylization of functions will problematically bring unparalleled pragmatic conceptions in both languages. Abstract This study investigates creative product descriptions (CPDs) in an intercultural context, especially with respect to cultural references (CRs) and lexical cohesion. More specifically, it examines (i) how CRs are utilized in CPDs written in English for intercultural communication, (ii) how lexical cohesion can be described in a culturally meaningful and context-sensitive way, and (iii) what role cultural reference terms play in shaping the lexical cohesion of such CPDs. By proposing a multi-layer framing model of cohesion, this paper shows how lexical cohesion results from interactions of four frames activated in the production and reception of a text: sociocultural, generic, interpersonal and conceptual. The study concludes with some practical implications for the writing of CPDs in English for intercultural communication.

This article uses the Hofstede cultural model to deeply analyze the French cultural model and its causes. By exploring France's performance in five dimensions: power distance, individualism and collectivism, masculinization and feminization, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term and short-term orientation, combined with France's history, geography, society, economy, and other factors, the uniqueness and internal logic of the French cultural model are revealed. This article aims to enhance understanding of French culture and provide useful references for cross-cultural communication.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the representation of identity and marginalization in Anis Susan’s poem "As-salaam ‘alaikum" using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic theory. Adopting a qualitative approach with content analysis, this study examines symbols and meanings that reflect identity and marginalization. The poem is the primary data source, while secondary sources include academic references on identity, marginalization, and Peirce’s semiotics. Data collection involves document analysis and identifying words, phrases, and sentences as symbolic elements. These symbols are categorized into three types: (1) Identity Symbols, representing cultural, religious, and ethnic aspects; (2) Marginalization Symbols, highlighting social discrimination and oppression; and (3) Social Criticism Symbols, addressing systemic or ideological issues. The study applies Peirce’s triadic model, analyzing the representamen (symbolic form), object (referenced concept), and interpretant (derived meaning). Findings reveal that the poem employs linguistic and semiotic symbols to reflect a collective identity deeply rooted in cultural and social contexts. Identity is expressed through religious and cultural references, while marginalization appears in language structures conveying victimization and protest. The poem also critiques social injustice through poetic imagery, emphasizing oppression within the existing system

Abstract:
This study examines the meaning-making work of transnational cultural references in protest. Whether using the image of the superhero or re-mixing a famous painting, the presence of such references in home-made protest placards was a striking feature of the 2017 anti-corruption protests in Romania. By means of a qualitative analysis of 58 such signs, this study identifies five types of transnational cultural resources co-opted in the local protest: politics, high and popular culture, brand names, computer culture, and other motivational slogans and protest symbols. Such references are appropriated in local protest for their recognizability potential, their generic interpretive frames, or their usefulness in generating surprising re-iterations of the political cause. Yet, the use of such references remains interwoven with the symbolic and political capital of professional, middle-class elites. In the Romanian case, the use of these transnational cultural references also constructs the protesters as cosmopolitan and aligned with Western cultural consumption and political practices. In turn, this frames political opponents as backwards, parochial, and unfit for democratic politics.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to analyze the different solutions used when translating cultural references. The source text is an extract from The Omnivore’s Dilemma. A Natural History of Four Meals (2006), written by Michael Pollan, and the material that this study is based on is taken from that text, as well as from my translation of that extract. The theme of the book is American food culture from various perspectives, which results in a culturally specific text. The cultural references in this study regard phenomena such as food-related items, geographical places and names, etc. In the translation of these cultural references, I used a combination of methods. The strategies used were Ingo’s complementary addition, Vinay and Darbelnet’s equivalence and adaptation, as well as Newmark’s transference. The analysis of the translation showed that the most used strategy was transference, which was expected considering that the purpose of the text is to present American food culture and the ambition and aim of the translation was to keep as many cultural references as possible in the target text. One conclusion that could be drawn from the study was that the purpose of the text and the intended TT reader are main factors when deciding how to translate cultural references.

Abstract:
The main purpose of this study is to analyse what translation strategies can be used for rendering puns and cultural references, from English into Swedish, found in a text that humorously presents stereotypically British phenomena. The study also aims to determine whether the strategies are mainly source-oriented or target-oriented and to point out some similarities and differences between the translation strategies used for puns and cultural references. In order to solve the different problems that the puns and cultural references caused, various thesauruses, dictionaries, encyclopaedias and parallel texts have been consulted. The analysis of puns has been based on translation strategies presented by Delabastita (1996) and the analysis of cultural references on strategies presented by Pedersen (2007). Even if there proved to be some overlaps between Delabastita´s and Pedersen´s sets of strategies, the study confirms that puns and cultural references require quite different approaches and quite different strategies. The chosen approach for rendering puns was relatively free and target-oriented. The source text puns were predominantly rendered by replacing them with target text puns, even if this changed the text significantly. The cultural references, on the other hand, were mainly rendered by using source-oriented strategies. Retention and strategies that include or have been combined with Retention were the most frequently used ones.

La presente tesis abarca la transferencia de los referentes culturales en el fansubbing del español al chino a través de un corpus de la serie de televisión española El Ministerio del Tiempo compuesto por las traducciones del grupo Shenying y del grupo YYeTs. En el análisis cuantitativo no solo atendemos la densidad de los referentes culturales en el corpus, sino que también analizamos el uso de las técnicas de traducción para después centrarnos en las relaciones entre la clasificación de los referentes culturales y la clasificación de las técnicas de traducción. En el análisis cualitativo prestamos atención a la amplificación con las notas en la pantalla para luego hablar de sus formas, situaciones de uso, funciones y problemas observados en el corpus. Esta tesis es de gran valor en los Estudios de Traducción ya que profundiza en el estudio de las técnicas en una forma de traducción no profesional. Además, su énfasis recae en la transferencia de los referentes culturales del español al chino, tema importante para la formación de los traductores audiovisuales en esta combinación lingüística.<br>This dissertation aims to research the rendering of cultural references in the fansubbing of Spanish into Chinese based on a corpus of translations of the Spanish TV series The Ministry of Time by the groups Shenying and YYeTs. In the quantitative analysis, we not only study the density of cultural references in the corpus, but we also analyze the translation techniques used. Then, we focus on the relations between the classification of cultural references and the classification of translation techniques. In the qualitative analysis, we pay attention to the use of amplification with notes on the screen before summarizing its forms, situations of use, functions and problems that were observed in the corpus. This dissertation has great value for Translation Studies as it delves into the study of the translation techniques in a non-professional translational form. Furthermore, it emphasizes on the rendering of cultural references from Spanish to Chinese, an important issue for audiovisual translators’ training of this language combination.

Subtitling, as all other types of audiovisual translation, has always been influenced by cultural factors, and in turn subtitles have influenced their target readers. The close interrelation between language and culture in interlingual subtitling may raise problems, or challenging issues in translating cultural references from oral dialogue into written subtitles. The aim of this study is to investigate the problems and strategies involved in the Arabic subtitling of the cultural references in the Harry Potter movies in Arabic. Special focus will be laid on different types of cultural references such as names of people, mythological creatures, magical objects, place names, food items, neologisms, etc., which are characteristic of J. K. Rowling’s book on which the movies are based. These cultural references pose challenges for the subtitlers. The main objective of this study is to determine which factors and strategies play a significant role when subtitling Harry Potter movies for children in the Arab world. In order to achieve this aim, a descriptive approach within the discipline of translation studies has been adopted. More specifically, this approach will examine the possibility to observe any kind of consistency in the strategies applied for the subtitling of cultural references. Díaz Cintas’s model is proposed as a theoretical framework that helps in understanding and explaining the strategies available to the subtitler when subtitling cultural references. The study concludes that there is a complex of cultural, ideological, and technical aspects which have significant influence on subtitlers when subtitling for children, in particular from English into Arabic. The analysis shows that the Arabic subtitlers tend to use more strategies than others in dealing with cultural references. The conclusion attempts an explanation of the frequency of the strategies used.

Abstract:
This research describes the strategies adopted by dubbing professionals (mainly translators) in their translations for dubbing of television series, from English into Italian. More specifically, it means to account for the norms governing the work of the translators in this field. In order to draw substantial conclusions, the analysis is conducted on a corpus of television fiction shows, which is not only sufficiently large but also varied in terms of genre, content, language use, and target audiences. The main focus of the analysis is the translation of culture specific references; a subject that has widely been recognised by scholars as being one of the most problematic translation issues, not only in the case of translation for dubbing but also in other areas such as literary and drama translation. One of the hypotheses presented is that the social and historical context in which dubbing originally came to be in Italy had an impact on its subsequent evolution and can still be relevant when dealing with issues of censorship and manipulation of contents. The methodological foundations of this research rest on Toury’s (1980, 1995) notion of norms in translation. Toury (1980: 51) considers norms to be central to the act and the event of translating. The ultimate aim of this study is, therefore, to map out the strategies activated by translators in response to the cultural environment in which they operate, and to detect the norms that are prevalent in the case of dubbing television series into Italian. The analysis is carried out on a corpus of over 95 hours of television programmes, whole episodes of three fiction series belonging to different genres: Friends (sitcom, USA); Life on Mars (science fiction/police procedural drama, UK); Six Feet Under (drama, USA). All the culture specific elements present in the corpus have been detected and their adaptation into Italian analysed from a quantitative and qualitative point of view in order to highlight the prevalent translational behaviours.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to analyse what strategies may be the most suitable ones when dealing with problems in the translation of a text on human trafficking. The focus of the study is how to translate terminology related to human trafficking, but also on how to deal with references to culture-specific phenomena. In order to find possible solutions for translation problems in the text, different dictionaries and term banks were used, as well as parallel texts and different translation strategies.           The analysis is based on the translation strategies laid down by Vinay and Darbelnet, Ingo and Newmark. The findings of the study show that a number of different translation strategies had to be applied in order to solve the different translation problems. Regarding the translation of terminology, modulation, equivalence, addition and omission were the most useful strategies, as well as using parallel texts. The strategies found most useful in translating culture-specific phenomena were modulation, equivalence and addition, but componential analysis, transference and established translations were also used. Factors that decided what were the most appropriate strategies to apply in the different instances were the aim of the text, the perspective of the target reader and parallel texts.

This paper studies how cultural references and hyphenated premodifiers in an English travel guide about the Caribbean are translated into Swedish. The aim is to investigate what strategies that are used when translating cultural references, and why; as well as to see which grammatical structures that appear when translating hyphenated premodifiers from English to Swedish. The qualitative analysis focuses on how cultural references and hyphenated premodifiers are translated, the strategies/categories used, and the corresponding result. The quantitative analysis aims at summarizing what strategies or grammatical categories that are most commonly used in overcoming these translation issues. The results show that most hyphenated premodifiers are translated with another grammatical structure, namely through premodifying adjectives, without the use of hyphens. Regarding cultural references, equivalence, transference, and generalization were common strategies to convey the same content and sense to the new target readers, whereas the domesticating method together with communicative translation proved to be the most helpful methods.

Abstract:
The aim of this essay is to identify and discuss possible solutions to problems regarding the translation of certain cultural references in blog columns by the American author Jeff Klima. More specifically, these cultural references are general cultural aspects, swear words and references to people. General cultural aspects include references to historical events, religious festivities, publications, cultural stereotypes and culturally based idioms. I use Vinay and Darbelnet’s strategies of direct and oblique translation, as well as Nida’s concepts of formal and dynamic equivalence. I also use Newmark’s strategies of semantic versus communicative translation, and Ingo’s adaption strategy. I find that there is no universal solution applicable to all types of culturally related issues in translation, but that every case is unique and requires a unique solution. What can be said, however, is that semantic translations and word-for-word translations are rarely applicable when it comes to cultural issues. True for all issues, however, is that the translator needs to be perfectly clear on what the author is saying and who the receiver, or target reader, is in order to begin to explore which strategy is best to use.

Abstract:
This study deals with the translation of cultural references and proper-name allusions from English to Finnish in the DVD-subtitles of Gilmore Girls. Its most important aim is to examine what types of methods have been used to translate the culture-bound items found in the so-called Gilmore-isms or, what type of relationship does the target text have with the source text and whether the translations are more foreignising or domesticating. In addition to this, the study examines the type of influence the needs of the receiver and the audiovisual format and the relationship between the source and the target culture have on translation and in which ways translation is associated with cultural and social power structures in society. The research questions are approached with the help of Translation Studies. A methodological basis has been sought especially from the research on allusions by Leppihalme and the methods of foreignisation and domestication by Venuti. In addition to this, the analysis draws from Reception Theory and the Study of Audiovisual Translation. 9 episodes from the 4th season of Gilmore Girls were analysed. There were 62 Gilmore-isms and 80 cultural references to music, films, television programmes, fictional characters, politicians and famous people found in the study material. Based on this study and earlier research, it can be claimed that culture-bound items are usually translated with foreignising methods when translating from English to Finnish in television series. This is believed to have to do with the socio-economic power of Anglophone countries, especially the United States, over marginal ones. Finnish viewers are also used to English expressions and the culture of Anglophone countries and, therefore, the use of U.S. American cultural references does not form a problem for the receiver. The audiovisual format has not affected the chosen translation methods as much as had been anticipated, thus space has not been a particularly significant factor for the translators which can also be seen in the translation methods chosen<br>Tässä tutkielmassa käsitellään kulttuuriviittausten sekä erisnimi-alluusioiden kääntämistä englannista suomeksi Gilmoren tyttöjen DVD-tekstityksissä. Sen perimmäisenä tarkoituksena on selvittää, millaisin metodein niin kutsutuista Gilmore-ismeista löydetyt kulttuurisidonnaiset viittaukset on käännetty, eli millainen suhde lähdetekstillä on kohdetekstiin ja ovatko käännökset kotouttavia vai vieraannuttavia. Lisäksi tutkielmassa selvitetään vastaanottajan tarpeiden ja audiovisuaalisen formaatin sekä lähde- ja kohdekulttuurin välisen suhteen vaikutusta käännöksiin ja millä tavoin kääntäminen liittyy yhteiskunnassa vallitseviin kulttuurisiin ja sosiaalisiin valtarakenteisiin. Tutkimuskysymyksiä lähestytään kääntämistutkimuksen keinoin. Metodista teoriapohjaa on haettu erityisesti Leppihalmeen alluusioiden tutkimuksesta, sekä Venutin kotouttamisen ja vieraannuttamisen strategioista. Tämän lisäksi analyysiosio ammentaa tietoa vastaanottotutkimuksesta, sekä audiovisuaalisen kääntämisen tutkimuksesta. Tutkimuksessa analysoitiin 9 Gilmoren tyttöjen jaksoa 4. tuotantokaudelta. Musiikkiin, elokuviin, televisio-ohjelmiin, fiktiivisiin hahmoihin, poliitikoihin sekä kuuluisuuksiin liittyviä Gilmore-ismeja löydettiin tutkimusmateriaalista 62 kappaletta ja niistä kulttuurisidonnaisia viittauksia 80 kappaletta. Tämän sekä aiempien tutkimusten perusteella voidaan väittää, että kulttuurisidonnaiset viittaukset käännetään useimmiten vieraannuttavasti silloin, kun käännetään englannista suomeksi televisiosarjoissa. Tämän uskotaan liittyvän englanninkielisten maiden, erityisesti Yhdysvaltojen omaamaan sosio-ekonomiseen valta-asemaan. There are close relationships between the cultural structures of societies and residential areas. The place where the society chooses to live and the ways it is organized is an expression of the cultural structure. Traditional houses are accepted as the most obvious indicator of this situation. One of the ways of preserving cultural sustainability today is to read the design principles of these houses correctly. Culture is about what kind of environment people live in and how they live. Human behaviors are based on cultural references. Religion, view of life and perceptions of the environment are both dialectically shaped culture and shaped by culture. Culture is about where and how human meets his needs throughout his life. It can be said that culture is one of the basic factors that direct human behavior and life. Therefore, the cultural embedding of sustainability thought is important in shaping the world in which future generations will live. Regarding various cultures in the literature; the structure of the society, their way of life and how they shape their places of residence, etc. there are many studies. The riches that each culture possesses are considered to be indisputable. These important studies are mostly based on an in-depth analysis of that culture, concentrating on a single specific culture. In this study, it is aimed to make a more holistic analysis by examining more than one culture. Thanks to this holistic perspective, it is thought that it will be possible to make inferences that can be considered as common to all societies. This study, which especially focuses on Asian and African societies, is the tendency of these societies to maintain their cultural structure compared to other societies. The reflections of cultural practices on residential spaces are examined through various examples. The dialectical structure of Berber houses, integration of Chinese houses with natural environmental references, Toroja houses associated with the genealogy in Indonesia, etc. examples will be examined in the context of cultural sustainability in this study. With this holistic approach, where the basic philosophy of cultural sustainability can be obtained, important references can be obtained in the design of today's residences. Abstract:
Accurate completion of archaeological artifacts is a critical aspect in several archaeological studies, including documentation of variations in style, inference of chronological and ethnic groups, and trading routes trends, among many others. However, most available pottery is fragmented, leading to missing textural and morphological cues. Currently, the reassembly and completion of fragmented ceramics is a daunting and time-consuming task, done almost exclusively by hand, which requires the physical manipulation of the fragments. To overcome the challenges of manual reconstruction, reduce the materials' exposure and deterioration, and improve the quality of reconstructed samples, we present IberianVoxel, a novel 3D Autoencoder Generative Adversarial Network (3D AE-GAN) framework tested on an extensive database with complete and fragmented references. We generated a collection of 1001 3D voxelized samples and their fragmented references from Iberian wheel-made pottery profiles. The fragments generated are stratified into different size groups and across multiple pottery classes. Lastly, we provide quantitative and qualitative assessments to measure the quality of the reconstructed voxelized samples by our proposed method and archaeologists' evaluation.

This work aims to study the preservation of cultural heritage in the city of Rio Claro/SP. It seeks to understand the population's relationship with cultural heritage and their degree of feeling of belonging and identity with the city's historic center, which has been listed by the Condephaat (state preservation agency) and privileged area in terms of investments. However, this listing prioritized construction aspects, historical and architectural relevance and the tourist potential of the center, without the necessary intertwining with other values, such as affective and immaterials, resulting from social practices such as, for example, those related to railway´s remnants, also present in the center. This article discusses the different preservation actions on officially recognized property and other cultural references present in the center. Culturemes are the markers of the source culture, which can reach the reader in the target language only through the ability of the translator, who must, in fact, be a great connoisseur of the most hidden cultural details. For the transposition of a foreign culture into a new culture, for a proper communication between them, a loan is needed, retrieval and processing of information so that it is accepted. The motivation behind this study is to provide an overview of how to approach culturemes in the translation of works of contemporary Chinese literature in Romanian, works characterized by great linguistic and extra-linguistic generosity. In order to achieve this goal, we followed the stages of identifying the culturemes from thirty-one Chinese contemporary novels translated in Romanian; followed by creating a corpus based on fourteen categories and five equivalence methods to ensure the cultural equivalence, coherence and homogeneity of Chinese works recreated for the Romanian reader. Finally, we performed an in-depth study of a selection of culturemes from each category, with the aim of showing their distribution in the Romanian translation of Chinese fiction. The study intends to provoke but also to help raise the awareness that translations are not only transpositions (by this we mean moving from one linguistic register to another without operating the text as part of a cultural whole, approaching it externally to all of its sources of influence from the culture in which it has been created) of a work in another language, but they have the primary role of enriching knowledge about one's culture, civilization, literature – i.e. China’s cultural heritage for the present study. Culturally-aware literary translations are the most effective and most stable manner of intercultural exchange, of international prosperity of a culture, of understanding and acknowledging the cultural specifics of one nation. The intertextual references – the culturemes – studied, are part, as will be presented, of all cultural spheres, from those denoting the daily life of the Chinese, the food and basic needs, to those denoting holidays, toponymy, units of measurement, history, but also those that are politically motivated, while also spiritual, subtle, erudite, which only close study, extensive knowledge and diligent work can drive the translator to find and transfer them to the target reader.

In the 21st century, business engagements are becoming increasingly global, and global teams are now an established form of organising work in multinational organisations. As a result, managing cultural diver-sity within a global team has become an essential part of ensuring motivation, creativity, innovation and efficiency in today’s business world.Global teams are typically composed of a diversity of experiences, frames of references, competencies, information and, not least, cultural backgrounds. As such, they hold a unique potential for delivering high performance in terms of innovative and creative approaches to global management tasks; however, in-stead of focusing on the potentials of cultural diversity, practitioners and studies of global teams tend to approach cultural diversity as a barrier to team success. This study explores some of the barriers that cultural diversity poses but also discusses its potential to leverage high performance in a global context.Our study highlights the importance of how team leaders and team members perceive ‘culture’ as both a concept and a social practice. We take issue with a notion of culture as a relatively fixed and homogeneous set of values, norms and attitudes shared by people of national communities; it is such a notion of culture that tends to underlie understandings that highlight the irreconcilability of cultural differences.Applying a more dynamic and context-dependent approach to culture as a meaning system that people negotiate and use to interpret the world, this study explores how global leadership teams can best reap the benefits of cultural diversity in relation to specific challenging areas of intercultural team work, such as leadership style, decision making, relationship building, strategy process, and communication styles. Based on a close textual interpretation of 31 semi-structured interviews with members of global leader-ship teams in eight Danish-owned global companies, our study identified different discourses and per-ceptions of culture and cultural diversity. For leaders of the global leadership teams (Danish/European) and other European team members, three understandings of cultural diversity in their global teams were prominent:1)Cultural diversity was not an issue2)Cultural diversity was acknowledged as mainly a liability. Diversities were expressed through adifference in national cultures and could typically be subsumed under a relatively fixed numberof invariable and distinct characteristics.3)Cultural diversity was an asset and expressions of culture had to be observed in the situationand could not simply be derived from prior understandings of cultural differences.A clear result of our study was that those leaders of global teams who drew on discourses of the Asian ‘Other’ adherred to the first two understandings of cultural diversity and preferred leadership styles that were either patriarchal or self-defined as ‘Scandinavian’. Whereas those leaders who drew on discourses of culture as dynamic and negotiated social practices adhered to the third understanding of cultural di-versity and preferred a differentiated and analytical approach to leading their teams.We also focused on the perceptions of team members with a background in the country in which the global teams were co-located. These ‘local’ team members expressed a nuanced and multifaceted perspective on their own cultural background, the national culture of the company, and their own position within the team, which enabled them to easily navigate between essentialist perceptions of culture while maintain-ing a critical stance on the existing cultural hegemonies. They recognised the value of their local knowledge and language proficiency, but, for those local members in teams with a negative or essentialist view of cultural diversity, it was difficult to obtain recognition of their cultural styles and specific, non-local competences. 3Our study suggeststhat the way global team members perceive culture, based on dominant societal dis-courses of culture, significantly affects the understandings of roles and positions in global leadership teams. We found that discourses on culture were used to explain differences and similarities between team members, which profoundly affected the social practicesand dynamics of the global team. We con-clude that only global teams with team leaders who are highly aware of the multiple perspectives at play in different contexts within the team hold the capacity to be alert to cultural diversity and to demonstrate agility in leveraging differences and similarities into inclusive and dynamic team practices.

The article presents Polish-German film relations in the framework of Nazis cultural diplomacy between 1933 and 1939. The Nazi effort to create a cultural hegemony through the unification of the European film market under German leadership serves as an important point of reference. On the example of the Polish-German relationship, the article analyses the Nazi “soft power” in terms of both its strength and limits. Describing the broader geopolitical context, the article proposes a new trail in the research on both the film milieus and the cinema culture in Poland in the 1930s. In mythological terms, it belongs to cultural diplomacy and adds simultaneously to film history and New Cinema History.

A través de él queremos acercar al lector a cada uno de ellos, al proceso que llevó a la gastronomía del Perú a ocupar un lugar privilegiado en la alta cocina internacional, y a entender su interacción con la agricultura peruana. Elegimos para ello utilizar el enfoque económico para indagar en el proceso de innovación y entender la revolución gastronómica que se produjo. La búsqueda de diferenciación a través de la calidad es uno de los motores de la innovación y la creatividad que puede permitir la reconversión de sectores productivos. En el caso del posicionamiento en el mercado internacional de la Gastronomía Peruana se produjo una reconversión a través de la innovación orientada a la mejora de calidad apoyada en la identidad cultural y en la biodiversidad. Desarrollamos un proceso sistematizado de entrevistas a los principales referentes del sector gastronómico con el objetivo de analizar el proceso de innovación y transformación en la Gastronomía Peruana y cómo la misma afectó a la producción de sus insumos agropecuarios, como ser la papa, los ajíes y la quinua. También evaluamos el rol de la identidad cultural, la importancia de la revalorización de la cultura local, como mecanismo de diferenciación del producto y como motivación para la innovación.

Abstract:
Objectives. To examine how Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and its components are defined and operationalized, and to examine the state of the evidence on effectiveness and potential harms of TIC approaches, frameworks, models, and components. Data sources. We searched Medline (Ovid)®, APA PsycInfo® (Ovid), CINAHL® (EBSCOHost), ERIC (EBSCOHost), and Scopus (Elsevier) for peer-reviewed articles published through July 19, 2024. Grey literature was also searched for Contextual Questions regarding TIC definitions and organizational and clinical components. Review methods. We used methods consistent with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Evidence-based Practice Center Program Methods Guide. We prepared the review protocol with input from Key Informants, Technical Experts, and a public comment period in April 2023. Using predefined criteria and dual review, we selected intervention studies that enrolled adult or pediatric patients/clients regardless of identified trauma exposure or type of trauma exposure in any healthcare or social service setting in any country. Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials and comparative nonrandomized studies of interventions. We assessed risk of bias and strength of evidence for a prespecified list of patient/client health related outcomes. Results. From 4,379 unique references, we identified 12 eligible studies discussed in 16 publications. Study settings were varied: two studies in adult medical care settings, one in adult mental health service, one in primary prevention for children, one in adolescent medical care, four in residential child welfare, and three in non-residential child welfare. We did not combine data quantitatively due to variability of interventions. All studies were assessed as high risk of bias and evidence was insufficient to determine the effects of TIC on patient/client outcomes for all settings and comparisons. Studies did not collect information on harms, adverse events, or unintended consequences of TIC. TIC models vary considerably in their socioecological components from youth to adult services across settings and disciplines. There was a broad range of organizational and clinical components, with only some overlap within both organizational and clinical domains. A few TIC models described specific elements of cultural competency/humility. Conclusions. Evidence was insufficient to make any clear determinations on the effectiveness of TIC approaches across any patient/client health related outcome, but this does not mean the individual interventions described are not potentially useful. Rather, it means the evidence does not yet provide clear answers. Still, TIC is being widely implemented, and research on its effectiveness and potential harms seems to be neither informing nor keeping pace with related areas (e.g., evidence-based trauma treatments) or practice/implementation.

Abstract:
In Sweden, the Roma have the right to contribute to and influence policy measures that affect them. Authorities often fulfil their obligation to include Roma through the so-called reference groups. The authors see several problems with this model. First, the reference groups are deprived of agency, as they are often not involved at early stages in the planning, but rather informed and consulted on ready-made decisions. Second, an emphasis is placed on “Romani organisations” when nominating and selecting representatives, which encourages rapid creation of new organisations with few members and activities, little transparency, and affected by gate-keeping as the power is kept between a few individuals. Last, the emphasis on linguistic and cultural competence deprives many individuals of influence and the possibility of being heard, especially those who have been subject to harsh assimilation.

Nuestra exploración comienza con una mirada retrospectiva, donde desentrañamos las páginas doradas de la historia de Luxor. Desde su distinguido papel como la capital del Imperio Nuevo, entre los siglos XVI y XI a.C., hasta su posterior influencia durante los períodos helenístico e islámico, esta ciudad ha sido el epicentro de la política, la religión y la cultura egipcias. Sin embargo, nuestro objetivo va más allá de la mera narración histórica; nos adentramos en el corazón mismo de Luxor para analizar su tejido urbano con ojos críticos y perspicaces. Desde los albores de su existencia, exploramos los orígenes y antecedentes de esta metrópolis, sumergiéndonos en su geografía, su historia natural y su rica herencia cultural. A continuación, nos sumergimos en las profundidades de su estructura urbana, desentrañando las complejidades de sus subdivisiones territoriales, sus redes de comunicación y sus puntos de referencia icónicos. Acompañados de ilustraciones y mapas, revelamos los secretos enterrados en sus calles y plazas, en sus templos sagrados y en sus bulliciosos mercados.
