Abstract As humans age, various environmental threats impact healthspan. Therefore maintaining an intact immune system is vital. Efficiency of human immune response can decline over time leading to complications with age-related diseases. Homeostatic mechanisms are in place to combat threats to the immune system. Serotonin, a neurotransmitter that critically regulates functions in inflammation and immune response, begins to lack functionality with aging. Signaling dysfunction in neurotransmitters can lead to complications in immune response and negatively impact healthspan. Using C. elegans, t

Abstract Metastasis is a major contributor to cancer morbidity and mortality. However, studying this complex, multi-step, multi-organ process is challenging. There is a pressing need to dissect the contributions of the tumor microenvironment (TME) on this process in a controlled and precise manner. Fortunately, the utilization of microfluidic “organs-on-chips” (OOC) in cancer research is facilitating such investigations. Moreover, by combining organoids and organs-on-chips we can enhance the progress of these studies in a patient specific manner. In this study, we have developed a cancer-on-ch

Abstract Background: Menin, a protein involved in transcriptional regulation, impacting cell cycle control, apoptosis, and DNA damage repair plays a direct role in oncogenic signaling in multiple cancers. Inhibition of menin is a novel approach to cancer treatment. Preclinical data of BMF-219, a highly selective, orally bioavailable small-molecule irreversible inhibitor of menin, show sustained potent abrogation of menin-dependent oncogenic signaling in vitro and in vivo. BMF-219 demonstrated a strong anti-proliferative effect on various menin-dependent acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cell lines,

As part of an ongoing revision of the family Gonyleptidae, we have identified many species that are synonyms of previously described species or misplaced in this family. This article summarizes these findings, adding previously unavailable information or correcting imprecise observations to justify the presented taxonomic changes. The following new familial or subfamilial assignments are proposed: Nemastygnus Roewer, 1929 and Taulisa Roewer, 1956 are transferred to Agoristenidae, Agoristeninae; Napostygnus Roewer, 1929 to Cranaidae; Ceropachylinus peruvianus R

Abstract:
The complexity of the causes of mutinies are captured in this chapter that focuses upon the role of ethnicity. Starting with the British West India Regiment in 1801, we examine the importance of the slave trade in supporting the recruitment to the British Army in the West Indies and consider how the ‘alternatives’ of slavery or forced recruitment are not regarded as alternatives by many ex-slaves. The chapter then moves on to the largest event to rock the early British Empire, the ‘mutiny’ or ‘1st War of Independence’ in India between 1857 and 1858. The nomenclature is a signal of the meaning
