Abstract:
Urban archaeological sites are important traces of history in the cities and should be conserved for the next generations with their values. For their survival in the urban context it is essential to integrate them to the current urban context they exist in. In this study, four urban archaeological sites in Ulus, Ankara are analyzed for understanding their states of integration by constructing an analysis method. In this process the conceptual frame and methodology offered by the APPEAR Project were regarded as basic tools. Within this scope, firstly a general overview is put forward about the APPEAR Method, Ankara and Roman Remains in Ulus with also discussing the current legal framework in Turkey. Afterwards the analysis is done on the archaeological sites
Roman Baths Open Air Museum, Cardo Maximus, Augustus and Roma Temple and Roman Theatre. Finally the fundamental principles and options are put forward for these Roman remains&rsquo
integration in the current urban context. The analysis conducted on the four urban archaeological sites reveal that the Roman remains in Ulus are not integrated with their current urban context This situation is threatening their survival while causing problems both for the v remains themselves and the city. The study while defining basic principles for the sites&rsquo
integration it also puts forward three fundamental concepts that should guide the enhancement projects. These are: Accessibility, Visibility and Intelligibility which are regarded as the tools for strengthening the contextual unity of the sites and their integration in the urban context.

Abstract:
Rio de Janeiro has had a fragmented model of expansion, where many new regions occupied not have transportation and sanitation infrastructure, and old areas, structured, tend to be disparaged and stigmatized as places of low social value. The effects on the city is catastrophic, affecting the routine of all the population and hindering the control of the territory by the government. While there were new areas to grow, the city took advantage of that. Many neighborhoods were born, evolved and died, while new spaces were created and encouraged. Came to Barra da Tijuca, the greatest example of how Rio de Janeiro has expanded to meet the desires of a particular group in search of a safe and elitist environment. Condos upper middle class were built and attracted people from all over the city and, in parallel, its sewage was dumped in the lagoons of the neighborhood. While a new Rio grew, much of the city was deteriorating, especially downtown and North Zone. In the central region, the idea of transferring downtown to Barra da Tijuca gained strength, with large companies moving into this new neighborhood. Modern buildings, wide open spaces and parking were the main differences between the two regions. In the residential aspect, concern for downtown was virtually nil. In the North Zone, with the increase of slums and violence, traditional neighborhoods were no longer the focus of the middle class carioca, with stagnating real estate investments over time and making the region passed by a process of forgetting his relevance within the context of the city, having his image associated with violence and crime. In areas called suburbian, the situation was even worse. The old industries have moved to other cities due to the daily violence of those neighborhoods, highlighting Benfica, Bonsucesso, Ramos and Penha, suffering a massive stagnation over the past decades. Associated with urban problems, prejudice was responsable for the not occupation of a large space in the city, well structured and located. But none of this was seen as a problem, but as a solution, because in Rio there were still many areas to grow and receive new residents, not being interesting recover and encourage the occupation of what had actually structure to receive new ventures. The thought of rejection of old areas and interest in new lasted nearly three decades and, as a consequence of this neglect, we have seen emerge an ancient and undervalued city and another one new and prosperous, resulting in a decentralized Rio and full of empty urban, increasingly dependent of transport, sanitation and opening new routes, generating costs for the entire population. Analyzing the urban area in Rio, in North Zone, we can see how there is a waste of urbanized areas, where there is a structured urban space, with transportation and sanitation system established, but underutilized and virtually without good projects being introduced. In certain parts of West Zone, investments are numerous, without a previous and efficient infrastructure that can receive all these investments. This is a contradiction. Currently known as Planning Area 3 (AP 3), a huge and discredited region in North Zone is in a strategic location, but is stigmatized by the media and society with pejorative concepts of class, who treats it like a suburb, but the application of that name ends up being contradictory, because, in Rio de Janeiro, this concept is associated with an etymology and not with a urban fact. There are in AP 3 urbanized neighborhoods and near downtown, but they are viewed negatively, often caused by so-called opinion leaders. AP 3 is the gateway of the city, with a strategic location to anywhere else in the city, state, country and abroad (the international airport is located there). It is the most populated area in the city and needs to be well treated, as a new investment option, regardless of titles assigned to it. With its proper use, we would have a less process of expansion toward the West Zone, giving to the Rio a efficient urban

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to understand, using detailed modelling, the users and their reasons for use of Leeds City Credit Union (LCCU) with implied application for other UK credit unions. With the initial aims resulting from a Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) between LCCU and the University of Leeds, this study has been performed using a case-study (LCCU) with the intention that the findings can be adapted to suit the needs and understanding of other UK credit unions, thus answer the broader research questions around credit union usage. The original contribution to knowledge is therefore the modelling relating to the users and usage of LCCU so that a detailed understanding of the user profile can be tailored and applied to other UK credit unions as niche financial service providers. The main source of data for this thesis was the analysis of a user and non-user questionnaire and this was supported by the use of focus groups. This data was then analysed using a range of techniques: qualitative analysis through the focus groups; descriptive analysis; factor analysis; and regression. From this analysis it was discovered that users are motivated to join LCCU for three key reasons. There are those who: use providers offering the best rates of return; support the ethical stance that the credit union movement offers; and who are financially excluded and unable to access credit elsewhere. Each of these three segments displayed unique profiling characteristics. In addition responses between users and non-users were also compared to identify the significant characteristics of users. These findings were contrary to the expectation that credit unions are just for the poorest sectors of society. This provides not only a unique academic insight in this niche financial services provider but also practically, in the development of a marketing strategy as defined by the KTP programme.

Abstract:

This dissertation provides an analysis of current multilingual practices among art museums in New York City. This study is located within the current theoretical analysis of 1) museums as sites of cultural production and 2) the politics of language, interpretative material, and technology. This study demonstrates how new roles for museums embracing multilingual exhibitions and technology may signal new ways of learning and inclusion.

The first part is a theoretical-based approach. The second part consists of a mixed-method research design using qualitative and quantitative methods to create three different surveys: of museum staff, of the general public, and finally my observations of museum facilities and human subjects.

Multilingual exhibitions are complex and require changes at all levels in a museum's organizational structure. Access to museum resources can provide more specific data about language usage. The survey responses from 175 adults provides statistics on multilingual settings and its complexity. The survey responses from 5 museums reveals the difficulty, and benefits, of dealing with this topic. Visual observations at 36 museums indicate that visitors pay attention to interpretative material, while production cost, space, and qualified linguistic staff are concerns for museums. Technology is a breakthrough in multilingual offerings, for it can help democratize a museum's culture to build stronger cultural community connections.

Abed, Gesant. "Review of current practices to reduce reinforcement corrosion in concrete structures managed by the City of Cape Town." Master's thesis, University of Cape Town, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/11427/27878.

Full text
Abstract:
The repair and maintenance of ageing reinforced concrete (RC) structures has become increasingly costly, especially in the Cape Peninsula. Protection and maintenance of these reinforced concrete structures against concrete deterioration and rebar corrosion have become far more important for road authorities and asset managers. City Engineers are responsible for the repair and rehabilitation of RC structures in different exposure conditions, by identifying the type of deterioration and then employing the correct concrete repair solutions or corrosion resistance measures. This dissertation investigates the environmental exposure conditions in the Cape Peninsula that result in chloride-induced and carbonation-induced corrosion of reinforced concrete structures in the region. It includes a literature review on concrete deterioration mechanisms and the role of aggressive elements in rebar corrosion. The literature review also considered alternative corrosion-resistant rebar. There are a number of available alternatives, which include Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP), Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) steel, and Stainless Steel rebar. Each alternative has advantages and disadvantages depending on design applications and durability requirements. The use of corrosion-resistant rebar would increase the structure's longevity, thus providing long-term cost saving for road authorities. In the City of Cape Town, city engineers have standardised the use of HDG rebar for repair solutions and new concrete structures. HDG improves corrosion resistance, thus making it desirable to road authorities. The HDG process has been developed in the construction industry with low production time and cost, proving favourable factors for engineers. In addition, engineers have to improve concrete quality and construction methods to protect the underlying rebar from corrosion. On a technical level, HDG rebar use in RC structures has benefits which outweigh their cost implications. The exclusive use of HDG rebar without sound engineering judgment based on factors such as the location of the structure, distance from the coast, the structural loading conditions, and construction methods and quality standards, might not ensure better concrete durability and structural longevity. Generally, correct structural rebar design and concrete quality can eliminate the need for the use of corrosion protection methods and materials. The use of HDG is a very attractive solution for structures within 5km from the coast; otherwise, normal steel is suited for most applications. Reinforced concrete members such as concrete bollards, bridge handrails and balustrades can be treated as consumables and can be replaced once steel corrosion or concrete deterioration has occurred and becomes unsightly, which would be about 20 years. This approach would be economically advantageous and politically favourable to the road authority as it creates skills and jobs by reducing initial internal and contractual costs. To illustrate the common forms of rebar deterioration in the Cape Peninsula region, this dissertation has included five repair and rehabilitation projects completed by the City of Cape Town's Road Authority. These rehabilitation projects have been identified for concrete repair and rehabilitation works, and some of these structures have recently undergone extensive concrete rehabilitation. City engineers are faced with many challenges that hinder service delivery, engineering processes and effectiveness. Among these are lack of staff with experience in concrete repair and asset management, and the lack of proactive maintenance tools. The lack of an adequate Bridge Management System (BMS) contributes to the inefficient allocation of resources for rehabilitation and repair projects. The Supply Chain Management System also delays the appointment of appropriate contractors due to unwieldy management systems and bureaucracy. These systemic problems are discussed to provide a better understanding of the current selection of concrete repair systems.

Abstract:
碩士
國立成功大學
水利及海洋工程學系專班
93
Taiwan is surrounded by the ocean so that the marine transportation trading plays an important role in the economic development. The construction of international harbors is almost complete and now the government is actively developing the auxiliary harbors. For example, Ann-ping Harbor is the auxiliary harbor of Kaohsiung Harbor and the planning of this harbor requires accurate long-term ocean climate information. Because the basic information is so important in the subsequent engineering planning, the accuracy and precision of these sources is crucial. The study compiles ocean currents data from different agencies in Tainan city area to establish basic background information and further analyze these data by statistic methods, spectrum analysis, harmonic analysis, and numerical filtering. The mechanisms of ocean currents and their characteristics are generated for further use or reference during the coastal planning. The current velocity over one knot is approximately 4% among all the registered entry. The direction is roughly parallel to the coast, namely NW-NNW during the floods and SE-SSE during the ebbs. The SSW-SW direction is about 40% during the measurements. Current velocity between 10~30 cm/s is about 51% and the maximum velocity is 91 cm/s during the observation. The average current velocity is 5~10 cm/s and the average direction is between 90 degrees to 200 degrees. The ocean current is dominated by M2 semi-diurnal period, the amplitude of current velocity appears to be seasonal, about 30~40 cm/s during May to Octorber and 15~30 cm/s during November to February. The longitudinal direction angel doen not change much and is about 147 degrees. For the M2 semi-diurnal tide along the coast, time delays of -1 hour and +5 hours has a better relative coefficient. The phase difference is about 30 degrees, and differs from standing waves that have a 90 degrees phase angel. Therefore, the semi-diurnal tide does not appear a standing wave in Tainan area. Study of the influence of seasonal winds indicates that it usually correlates to the sudden change of the wind field nearby in a very short period. The change of sub-tide that parallels to the coast can be very severe that reaches 20~30 cm/s, but not limited to the wind field in the near shore of Tainan area.

Six-nine junior high schools in Taipei served as subjects of this study. A self-developed questionnaire “Managerial status quo of variety teams in Taipei city” was distributed to 68 athletic directors of these schools which yielded a valid return rate of 100%. The results gathered were as follows: 1. Of 68 junior high schools in Taipei, there were totally 300 variety teams belonging to 31 different sport items. The average number of each team in each school was four. 2. Among all, track and field, basketball and swimming teams won most popularity. 3. The main reason to have an athletic program in half of these schools was to maintain their athletic tradition. 4. Physical education teachers were primary sources of coaches, and the rate of male coaches is higher than that of the emale. 5. The training schedule of most teams in Taipei included 4-6 days per week, mostly during the afternoon hours per day. While the summer training was more preferred than the winter training. 6. Among all schools, 67% didn’t offer extra academic programs for student athletes. For those offering extra academic programs, some designed academic counselors were assigned to teach student athletes during the after-school hours within their classroom. 7. Besides coaching, coaches also served as student athletes’ life counselor. 8. The difficulties encountered by most schools were the lack of backup organizations and lukewarm support from students’ parents. Based on these results, some suggestions were thus proposed: 1. In addition to traditional teams, schools should form some other variety teams including girls’teams with more female coaches. 2. Besides the reduction of teaching hours, the increase of the teaching fee for each coach was still necessary. 3. Student athletes should be selected and evaluated scientifically not only by the criterion of habit. 4. Student athletes should be praised by giving awards in the school morning ceremony not only by giving credits. 5. Coaches should be encouraged to receiving more on-the job training to cultivate their abilities to establish more efficient training programs. 6. Business organization should be encouraged to sponsor and back up these variety teams. 7. Besides special subsidies from the government, schools should establish a financial system to keep the budget for these variety teams in balance. 8. Schools should establish and offer more extra academic programs for student athletes. Some senior high schools with PE classes or PE developing programs should provide a ready access for these junior high student athletes. Key words: Managerial status quo Varsity teams

Abstract:
碩士
大葉大學
應用外語研究所
101
Few studies deal with the investigation of poetry teaching at senior high schools in Taiwan. This study is intended to illustrate the problems of teaching English poems to senior high school students. More specifically, based on its findings, this study attempts to help EFL teachers: 1. to recognize the trauma their students will experience when learning a poem. 2. to be familiar with the linguistic features of poems and poetic devices in order to direct their students to read a poem appropriately, 3. to understand the gap between ordinary language and literary language, and 4. to direct students to write a short essay after reading a poem, The major findings are: 1. 77.38% of the students did not read English poems to any extent. Their teachers never ever used techniques to help them read poems. 2. 88.07% of the teachers never asked their students to ask questions or responded to questions when teaching poems. They followed the grammar-translation approach slavishly. 3. 67.74% of the teachers were not familiar with the method and techniques of teaching English poems. 4. 50% of the teachers would like to teach poems, but they failed to do so because of time limitation and the test format. 5. A stylistic-analytical reader response approach is PROPOSED to solve the problems EFL teachers may face in teaching poems. This study concludes with discussion and suggestions for improving EFL programs in Taiwan.

Overall impression of the satisfactoriness and construction quality often receives adversarial opinions from the citizens. This study is intent to find the knowledge related to quality defects from historic records of Kaohsiung City; moreover, it is expected that these research results would achieve continuing improvement of construction quality by PDCA. During the research period, our work has been retrospectively referred widespread to identify major study directions and utilize various statistical methods to generate collected data for detailed analysis. In summary, after two constructive interactions with some experts of this research, we conclude the followings: (1)Field management, construction security administration, environmental health, concrete and reinforcement activities are the major defects. (2)Statistic results collected from professional agencies present much better performance than from non-professional agencies. In addition, professional consultants’ supervision abilities are better than the architects. (3)Construction security and interface between related activities are the common factors of ignorance. (4)Introducing information technology for developing a real-time quality control in routine is the suggestion for future study.

Abstract:
碩士
輔仁大學
兒童與家庭學系碩士班
95
The purpose of this research was to understand the situation and the opinions of kindergarten principals and teachers regarding English learning activities at kindergartens in Taipei city. The method of questionnaire survey was employed and the kindergarten principals and teachers in public and private kindergartens in Taipei city were taken as research subjects. 354 questionnaires had been sent to the principals to complete and 222 were returned as valid; 354 questionnaires had been sent to the teachers to complete and 219 were returned as valid. The descriptive statistics and Chi-square were used to analyze the collected data. Research findings include: 1. The current situation of English learning activities at kindergartens in Taipei city. (1)39.6% public kindergartens and 96.4% private kindergartens have implemented English learning activities. Most of the English teachers in public kindergartens were kindergarten teachers whose English were good. Most private kindergartens employed full-time English teachers. (2)About 50% of public kindergartens, the teachers instructed students in English with several lessons on a weekly basis. About 40% of private kindergartens, the teachers attempted to integrate English into Chinese unit or the thematic curriculum. Generally speaking, kindergartens implemented English learning activities at least twice a week, and for more than 60% of these activities, each of them lasted at least half an hour. Besides formal activities, 70% kindergarten teachers encouraged children to speak English. (3) More than 80% of the teachers participated in the decision of curricular arrangement, activity type, teaching materials at the kindergartens. Most of the teaching resources came from marketable ready-made teaching materials. Less than 30% were created by the teachers themselves. The most often used teaching methods were interesting games and melodies. And the most often used assessments were activity-playing performances and class group performances. The difficulties of implementing English learning activities are (a) lacking of certificated kindergarten teachers who possess English teaching ability, (b) there are not enough opportunities for teachers for their on-the-job training, and(c) lacking of training in English teaching methods amongst teachers. 2. The opinions of kindergarten principals and teachers at kindergartens in Taipei city. (1)The major goal should be focused on children’s willingness to participate in English learning activities. It is believed that the following should be integrated into children’s learning activities: relevant contents of the study subjects, the festival seasons, everyday terminologies and greetings. (2)The most favorable teaching methods are interesting games and melodies. And the most favorable assessments are play-based assessments. The most suitable age for implementing these English learning activities is 5-6 years old. The most appropriate timeframe for implementing English learning activities is no more than 5 hours per week. (3)The most appropriate teacher should possess specialized English teaching knowledge and specialized early childhood education qualification at the same time. The confusing problems in teaching are lacking of specialized English knowledge and teaching methods. 3. The differences between kindergarten principals’ opinions regarding English learning activities and the current situation in Taipei city. The kindergarten principals in Taipei city did not have significant differences on the opinions and the current situation of the total time in implementing English learning activities. But there were significant differences on the teaching methods, the assessments, specialized background of teachers and the implementing situation for kindergarten English learning activities. Based on the findings above, suggestions were made for policy making, teacher training, and kindergarten English learning activity design reference.

Student baseball teams were the study subjects. The results have shown that: (1) The representative team training system: The representatitive training team can be formed early for observing outstanding players through competitions. (2) Government support: Some representative teams may not have enough supports. The insufficient part will be representative schools’ own responsibilities. (3) Professional coaching: There are many opportunities for searching for professional coaches. This is the representative teams’ responsibility for recruiting appropriate coaches. (4) School resources: In addition to the governmental resources, it will be the representative teams’ responsibility to fill in the insufficient funds. (5) Social resources: Unless getting the national team’s training rights, corporate sponsors usually will not be willing to provide short-term sponsorship. Most of the time the social resources of the parent team are used. Suggestions for the future student baseball teams: In addition to the management and support of the coaches and the team’s parent team, government supports are the most important. This study has found that besides the government support, school resources, and social resources, the proper authories can still discuss the improvement, integrate all the resources, and make appropriate measures in order to make our baseball more prosperous.

碩士
國立臺北藝術大學
藝術與人文教育研究所
100
This study examines the performing art curriculum implemented by the junior high schools of Keelung City with emphasis on the composition of faculty, the status of teaching performing art, the status of learning performing art, and the dilemmas occurring to the performing art teachers employed by the junior high schools in Keelung City. This study surveys the performing art teachers employed by Keelung City in 2010 using ”Questionnaire on Current Implementation of Junior High School Performing Arts Instruction in Keelung City” and in-depth discussions. This study analyzes the related data using statistical methods and conducts in-depth interviews. Tangible recommendations are presented for future reference. Research results are summarized as follows: Most performing art teachers are female with teaching experience less than 10 years. More than half of the 21 teachers interviewed by this study are acting as either administrative staffs or tutors concurrently; 9 majored in performing art, 8 majored in music, and 4 majored in visual art. Most teachers are capable of designing curriculum with equal emphasis between performing art production and appreciation. Usually, teachers arrange “theater show” and “film show”, and evaluate students’ performance based on the works completed by them. Most schools lack performing art classroom; therefore, teachers use “computers” and “projection equipment” instead. Teachers are eager to upgrade their performing art skills, especially the teachers responsible for “teaching drama production”. Shortage of teaching equipment and performing art faculty is the biggest problem. Teachers with different backgrounds act differently in terms of teaching content and teaching skills. The number of students decreases at the time fewer children are born than before. As a result, schools are unwilling to employ more teachers while the existing teachers have to tolerate extra workload. Late but not least, this study presents its results and findings to the education authority, school authority, and teachers for their reference in performing art curriculum and teaching.

碩士
國立高雄大學
都市發展與建築研究所
95
There are five sectors regarding the topic of implementing renovation in metropolis: land, advocator, financing and taxes, market and its legal structures. The article further addresses the challenges faced and possible solutions. While the entire nation of Taiwan is undergoing development and city renovation, not one single format should be applied to all circumstance. One should consider the diversities from north to south. Needs and expectations differ from one place to another. Maturity level in a city, as well as demographics and financial strengths differ drastically from Taipei to Kaohsiung. While planning and inputting changes, one should not put fit a city’s formula to another. The following article proposes how the City of Kaohsiung should adopt several development strategies while renewal its metropolis. I. Renovating allocation - Ports and docks along the shore should receive primary attention in renovation, thus enhancing visual experience along the coast. II. Advocate - Public entities and the City Council should be leaders and advocates in renewal projects, due to the abundance land they have in possession. III. Finance and Taxes - City Council of Kaohsiung should set a budget as well as feasible taxation to development, as well as necessary financial assistance. IV. Market – 1. Commercial, tourism, and leisure products should be introduced, aside from general household goods. 2. Abstract:
碩士
國立高雄師範大學
英語學系
96
The main purpose of this study aimed to investigate junior high school English teachers’ use and perceptions of current English textbooks in Taichung City. The subjects were 153 English teachers who taught the ninth graders from 26 junior high schools in Taichung City. The main instrument was a questionnaire. The major findings of the study are stated as follows: First, the most popular English textbooks used in junior high schools in Taichung City were Kang-xuan and Han-lin. The English teaching committee in each school took charge of textbook selection and reached the final decision. The main purposes for English teachers to use textbooks were for the teaching in class and for the review by students. Second, the majority of English teachers considered that the layout, content of the textbooks, workbooks, teachers’ manuals, and supplementary materials and teaching aids were satisfactory. However, most English teachers considered that the following aspects were unsatisfactory, including introduction of local and foreign culture, four language skills practice, variety of teaching methodology and evaluation methods, workshops, seminars, and assistance of foreign teachers from the publishers. Third, for English teachers, the most ideal method of generating textbooks was that a national institution took charge of textbook compilation and publication and then each school used the same textbooks. The most important considerations in textbook selection were the overall content and difficulty level. Besides textbooks, there should be supplementary materials. Fourth, teachers’ instruction focused much more on grammar, reading, and vocabulary than on listening and speaking. The main problem which English teachers encountered was highly diverse classes. English teachers would use many methods to improve students’ four language skills. In addition, the top five topics English teachers recommended to add to the further editions of textbooks were related to foreign culture, literature works, current affairs, Taiwanese culture, and recreation. Finally, English teachers’ other opinions and suggestions were also provided.

Abstract:
碩士
中華大學
科技管理學系碩士班
99
Over past 10 years, the Hsinchu Science Park has been developed rapidly. However, the fast growth population is continuing to threaten the public security in Hsinchu City. To cope with serious security and traffic problems as well as police administration, it is very essential to effectively integrate all kinds of technological facilities in order to meet the demand for public security and secure people’s life and property. Based on current application of CCTV technology integration of Hsinchu City, this research further studied the impact of CCTV on four perspectives including crime prevention effect and traffic control, quality of integration, evaluation of privacy violation, and maintenance management. Through survey-questionnaire method, this research targeted on polices of Hsinchu City who have had practical experience, and distributed 68 questionnaires. A total of 68 valid questionnaires were collected. The SPSS statistics for Windows 12.0 was used to analyze the survey data and discuss the research purpose. The major statistic analysis methods include factor analysis, principle component analysis, t-test, and ANOVA etc… The findings of research showed: 1. The law executor can response more quickly to accomplish tasks. 2. The crime incident can be immediately recorded to be taken as evidence to arrest the suspect. 3. It is helpful to crime prevention and investigation. 4. People can receive help and services within shortest period of time if they urgently require assistance. 5. The quality provided by system can earn people and law executor’s trust. 6. The higher perceptive value of CCTV is associated with higher level CCTV protection and benefits received. 7. The impact of CCTV on privacy is not significant. 8. CCTV of Hsinchu City uses fiber internet access which not only provides fast transmission service but also reduces cost. 9. The fiber internet is underground which maintains low damage rate and will not affect the appearance of city. 10. The e-video function available can be integrated into the “Damage Prevention and Rehabilitation Center” as remote control to accurately and swiftly cope with disasters. The effect of the application of CCTV technology integration of Hsinchu City has been proven. In the future, the scope of integration will be continuously expanded by focusing on crime and traffic hot spots in Hsinchu city and the intelligent application technology will be introduced to improve the assistant function of evident collection of CCTV. 碩士
國立清華大學
教育與學習科技學系
105
Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the current operational status and difficulties for the elementary school interactive activities advisory group in Hsinchu City, and explore what the advisory group members think regarding to the future development of the group. The topic of this study primarily covered three orientations: group member recruitment and mobility, professional knowledge and training, and counseling measures. The researcher of this study primarily adopted the semi-structured interview method and selected 11 integrated field counselors as our research subjects. The subjects include 5 current members and 5 former members of the elementary school interactive activities advisory group in Hsinchu City and 1 member of the interactive activities central group counselor. Moreover, we also analyzed the document information to understand the views and suggestions of the current and former advisory group members in terms of the advisory group operations. The results of this study are as follows: I. The advisory group is currently undergoing the public recruitment selection process. However, due to the low teacher participation willingness, lack of school support, selection expectation gaps, difficulty in establishing a reserve, and other problems; recruits must be actively sought out to prevent the dilemma of candidate trying out for the position. II. The counselor turnover rate tended to be high because of fatigue, pay imbalance, team friendship, and personal career planning factors; which cause considerable pressure during the initial takeover period. The counseling support model is also waiting to be established. We must establish a counseling support model to reduce the impact of changes. III. Furthermore, it is also difficult to meet the individual needs due to government decrees. The counselors have insufficient ability to convert what they have learned into teaching. We must arrange group discussion time to let the members teach, lead the group, and enhance their professional competence. IV. The counseling measures include government decrees, holding study courses, teaching demonstrations, tour services, and R&D and sharing of teaching materials. However, in light of the insufficient member training, rotation attendance for course studies, mostly formal teaching demonstrations, difficulties for tour counseling to function well, and unused teaching material problems; we can provide practical examples to the counselors in order to improve their government decree interpretation capacities, provide attendance summoning study incentive measures, arrange expert guidance discussions, return the tour model back to the one-on-one on-site school services, and accelerate teaching material information sharing so teachers may access the tools needed in the future. Finally, the researcher of this study proposed the elementary school interactive activities advisory group related recommendations to the education administration units, school administrations, and Hsinchu city based on the research conclusion discussed above. Abstract:
This document is submitted in partial fulfillment for the degree of Master of Architecture (Professional ) to the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, school of Architecture and planning, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, 2017
The Judicial system has existed in society since ancient civilization. It resides in our subconscious and plays a part in our decision making process taking the form of a moral conscience. Furthermore, the judicial system is realized spatially through the visualization of the Court. These institutions are located across all our major cities and suburbs often occupying prime territory. The judicial court is a public building which should promote civic pride and identity, however, it is a building type which has become highly restricted and walled off from society. It was once a space of public and community participation. It is an integral institution in a democratic society. It has now become associated with crime and violation of law. It is a space perceived by many to be avoided. Through this research and design report I wish to challenge the current court typology and explore the potential of the judicial court and the significant impact it can have on society as a great public building which promotes civic pride. Themes of identity, jurisprudence, conscience and boundaries are explored to develop a new court type and a precedent for future judicial buildings. The design proposes a Magistrates Court of a multi-disciplinary nature for the city of Kliptown and the greater Soweto. It is a hybrid of program interlaced together in response to the context and the broader network age we find ourselves in.
MT2017

碩士
國立臺北教育大學
體育學系碩士班
105
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore and investigate the current intern situations, human resource management strategies, and the difficulties encountered by Taipei City Sports Centers from an enterprise perspective. Methods: This study Adopted qualitative research of case studies, through data collection methods by questionnaires, interviews, and documentations, with contracted cooperation vendors of Taipei City Sports Centers as our target studies, and the person in charge of their internship systems as our subject of interviews. Results (A) Current situation: Most sports centers apply internships system of 6 years or more, on hourly basis of $120-250 per hour. The four main contact internship units are operation, training and curriculum, service center, and human resource, where interns engaged mostly in passive or approached contact response. There are orientation trainings for interns as well as internship with personnels. Interns are covered by insurance, and are positioned as either students, full-time employees, or part-time students, engaging mainly in the field of maintenance, repair, cleaning, ground patrol and other labor work. (B) Human resource management strategy: 1. Selection : There are three internship selection systems available: single, rotary, or a mixture of single and rotary. Mostly selection candidates are from colleges in the north, and are required to sign a memorandum of cooperation and an internship contract. Selection qualification includes job interviews and in consideration of their field of interest or job location distance from home. 2. Placement: Requires a professional license, positive attitude, dedicated service, eloquence, and coherent arrangement abilities for handling gym, swimming pool department, courts, front desk counter, customer service, or departments with summer and winter camp activities. 3. Training: There are orientation trainings on etiquette, management procedures, sports center opening and closing operations. There are also on-the-job training on first aid, fire and labor safety. Other intern trainings also include attending seminars, participation in outside vocational training, dispatch assignments, and so on. 4. Advancement : There are no channel for promoting interns to full time employees. All positions for full time employment require new interview process. After internships, about 5% of the interns will get hired into full time job position. Performance will be based on supervisor evaluation and self-assessment. There will be merit awards to reward good performance via for scholarships and salary increases, while poor performance punishment will be reflected in pay cuts.5. Retention : Wage basis to comply with both the Labor Standards Law and the corporate salary structure, while also providing welfares such as free meals and use of sport center venues, additional meal subsidy, employee travel, and group insurance benefits. Retention factors to decide if employees will remain working includes consideration of work environments, job location distance from home, company policies, organization atmospheres, and self interests, etc.(C)Difficulties encountered: Internship salary, lack of professional licenses, and poor work attitude are the three main challenges encountered. It will be helpful to resolve these challenges, if there can be establishment of reinforcing laws, requiring professional knowledge acquisition prior to internship, and through school's communication with parents, etc. The three categories most lacking are insufficient professional license and lack of pre-job education, not enough statutory basis to regulate, and lack of specialists to take in charge. It will also be beneficial if there are specialized courses in the school to be completed prior to the job: social and humanities courses, planning courses, and sports industry management courses. Conclusions : (A) Enterprise: To improve the sports center internship system, it will be beneficial to aim to establish regulatory laws, set up internship counseling and guidance unit for a single contact window, and to develop welfare incentives. (B) Schools: To assist schools to better prepare candidates for internships, it will be beneficial to examine the contents of the school curriculum, to be in tuned with the latest social knowledge, and to choose necessary required course adjustment and have internship practice phase division.
