This doctoral thesis explores the entanglement of religion and identity politics in the Indo-Burma borderlands and the indigenisation of Christianity there through grassroots processes of cultural revivalism. Female age at marriage rose from 13.2 in 1930-39 to 14.6 in 1980-83.
