Abstract:
Fluid flow past triangular cylinder in 2D has been scrutinized numerically by solving continuity equations and momentum equations in ANSYS FLUENT (version 15), in steady laminar flow regime. The effect of the Reynolds number (10=Re=40), in case of Power-law fluid, on the local and global flow characteristics has been investigated. In addition, flow orientations showing streamlines, recirculation length and the pressure variation on the surface of the cylinder have also been observed in order to provide further physical capacity to gain an accurate and deep understanding of the detailed flow ki

Extensive research has been done on external flow of fluids over variously shaped bodies as is evident from the extensive literature available for circular cylinder and spheres, for instance. However, much of the literature has focused only on Newtonian fluid flow, leaving non-Newtonian fluid behavior out of the picture. In daily life we encounter non-Newtonian fluids like slurries, foams, emulsions etc. Also, much of the research has focused on circular cylinders, keeping elliptical cylinder data scant. Hence, the objective of this project is to emphasize on the flow pattern of Non-Newtonian

The carburetor system was replaced with a fuel injection system. A special purpose ECU was made to control the injection duration based on the engine’s rotational speed, and throttle angle in order to improve and increase the horsepower and torsion of the engine. Given the fast development of the electronics industry the cost of single chips have reduced in recent years with increasing chip stability. The microprocessor used in

"The Effect of a Splitter Plate on the Flow around a Surface-Mounted Finite Circular Cylinder." Thesis, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/10388/ETD-2011-09-171.

Abstract:
Splitter plates are passive flow control devices for reducing drag and suppressing vortex shedding from bluff bodies. Most studies of splitter plates involve the flow around an “infinite” circular cylinder, however, in the present study the flow around a surface-mounted finite-height circular cylinder, with a wake-mounted splitter plate, was studied experimentally in a low-speed wind tunnel using a force balance and single-component hot-wire anemometry. Four circular cylinders of aspect ratios AR = 9, 7, 5 and 3 were tested for a Reynolds number range of Re = 1.9×10^4 to 8.2×10^4. The splitt

The electron beam remelting process is used extensively for the refining and recycling of titanium and its alloys. The success of the process relies on its ability to provide a thermal environment capable of removing impurities and deleterious particles while allowing control of chemical composition and solidification. These aspects of the process hinge on the accurate control of power input to the melt stock. Over the years, the effects of various parameters (such as chamber pressure) on the power delivery to the melt stock have largely been ignored. In this work, a series of laborator

Film boiling is of significant concern for the design of an emergency core cooling system after a hypothetical loss of coolant accident happens in a nuclear power plant. Furthermore, after a nuclear power plant is shut down, the fuel rods will continue to release the heat due to decay of fission products. Moreover, the subcooling of coolant might be changed dramatically during the reflood process.
