Notre travail met en evidence la figure du cercle qui domine dans l'oeuvre bergeracienne: obsession circulaire dans la structure des voyages et presence inevitable de la metaphore globulaire; presence ostentatoire de chateaufort dans la comedie du pedant joue; obsession d'agrippine qui cherche a englober les personnages satellites dans le monde metaphorique de sa vision morbide (dans la tragedie de la mort d'agrippine). L'ecriture bergeracienne se rit de ses heros dont les efforts restent derisoires. Le rire bergeracien rapproche l'homme de l'experience de sa mort. Il est toujours l'indice d'une perversion. L'imagination meme, porteuse des possibles du rire, est dangereuse. Le rire - harmonie n'existe pas. La solitude intrinseque du personnage bergeracien se nourrit de "monstrueuses chimeres". Chez cyrano, le protagoniste cherche les signes d'un monde enfin intelligible auquel seule une transgression cynique des lois chastes et rigoureuses des hommes donne acces: il faut detruire le pere, annihiler la femme, mais aduler le fils qui cherche une redemption. Dans cet univers heliocentrique que le monde reve de bergerac elabore, le voyage au sein du soleil, - qui se fait matrice cosmique -, est un retour aux sources qu'autorisent la mort, ou le sommeil. Mais le sang participe a la vie de ce grand corps en mouvement qu'est le soleil. A la fois poison et substance vitale, le sang marque de sa souillure tout acte de naissance. Seul l'onirique voyage permet au poete une delivrance qui soit eblouissement: son corps peut enfin flotter dans un soleil uterin. Cyrano mocks his heroes, whose efforts remain vain. Laughter, in bergerac's works, draws man closer to his death. This laughter indicates perversion. Here even imagination, - ordinarily pregnant with comic potential -, is dangerous. There is no harmony in laughter. In his intrinsic solitude, bergerac's protagonist lives with "monstruous chimera". Attmpting to escape from this illusory world, he searches for a concrete, intelligible one, only to find that to get there he must cynically transgress humanity's rigorous and chaste laws by destroying his father, annihilating women and, at the same time, by adulating the adolescent male looking for redemption. This thesis considers the burlesque literary forms in the work of the seventeenth-century writer, Cyrano de Bergerac. It challenges current scholarship by looking beyond libertinism to consider the importance of Cyrano's comic writing practices. While it does not deny the philosophical and scientific focus of Cyrano's oeuvre, it suggests that the burlesque is a defining characteristic. By taking into account the literary context in which Cyrano was writing – notably the querelle des Lettres and the rise of the histoire comique – as well as looking at other comic writers that could have influenced Cyrano, and through close textual readings, this thesis reveals that burlesque forms are often used in excess in Cyrano's work – forms compete against forms – producing destructive effects; burlesque forms can, in effect, be self-defeating. This project then asks whether it is possible to consider Cyrano a comic writer at all. It does demonstrate, however, that, in ridiculing everyone and everything, Cyrano too makes a mockery of the very idea of a dissimulative text. In questioning the literary gesture that Cyrano makes through his battling burlesque forms, this thesis suggests that libertinism can appear to be one of many playful masks the author assumes in his work. Is Cyrano a burlesque libertine? If so, this thesis raises the wider question of whether there are other imposters within the ranks.

The purpose of this research is to improve the performance for the query processing of Cyrano, a prototype deductive object-oriented meta model for Federated Database Systems (FDBSs). The hypothesis was that query optimization techniques such as Semi-Naive algorithm and Magic-Sets Rewrite algorithm could be used to improve the performance of Cyrano prototype query processing. Query optimization has not been used for an FDBS with a deductive object-oriented meta model. Most existing FDBS query optimization techniques are for FDBSs with relational meta models.
This research involves two major stages. The first stage was to investigate the existing query processing methodologies and query optimization techniques for FDBSs, deductive databases, and object-oriented databases. The research analyzed the methodologies and techniques of representative works. Two typical systems, one from the object-oriented database family and the other from the deductive object-oriented database family, were studied and analyzed in detail. The survey showed that there had been no work reported on query optimization for FDBSs with deductive object-oriented meta models. The analysis showed that the established query optimization techniques for deductive and object-oriented databases could be viable candidates for query optimization in the Cyrano prototype.
The second stage was to develop a new query processing methodology for Cyrano based on the analytical results of the first stage. A new query processing methodology was proposed, and Semi-Naive and Magic-Sets Rewrite algorithms were employed. Experiments showed that the application of the new query processing methodology improved the performance of the Cyrano query processing up to several hundred percent. Furthermore, the new Cyrano query processing methodology is a general methodology for deductive object-oriented data models, and it can well be applied to other FDBSs with deductive object-oriented meta models.
In conclusion, the research proves that the performance of the Cyrano prototype query processing can be significantly improved with query optimization. It also suggests that query optimization will improve the performance of query processing of other FDBSs with deductive object-oriented meta models.Master of Science

Notre thèse est une étude du caractère contradictoire de la pensée de ce libertin du XVIIe siècle. Il s'agit d'une large enquête recouvrant les aspects philosophiques, moraux, littéraires et psychologiques de cette problématique. L'œuvre de Cyrano se réclame de principes épistémologiques contraires : la raison et l'imagination. Ces principes donnent lieu à une dualité philosophique, à deux modes d'expression radicalement différents ; une pensée savante et une pensée poétique. Nous examinons la constitution de ces deux univers intellectuels et considérons la qualité de leur rapport. Le conflit des principes épistémologiques va de pair avec une double attitude éthique : Cyrano fait preuve de duplicité lorsqu'il se prononce sur les questions morales et politiques. Nous étudions l'influence de cette attitude discriminatoire sur sa philosophie. En complément à cette lecture de dualité et de duplicité, nous mettons en lumière la nature particulièrement instable de l'expression cyranienne, ainsi que les facteurs personnels qui semblent influer sur sa pensée. It is a broad study covering the philosophical, moral, literary and psychological aspects of the question. Cyrano invokes rival epistemological principles: reason and imagination. These principles occasion philosophical duality, two radically opposed modes of expression: scientific thought and poetic spirit. We examine the makeup of these intellectual universes and we consider the question of their relationship. This epistemological conflict goes hand in hand with a double attitude: Cyrano can be accused of double dealing when he treats of social and political questions. We study the influence of this discriminatory attitude on his philosophy. In addition to this reading of duality and duplicity, we highlight the unstable character of Cyrano’s thought, as well as the personal factors which seem to bear upon it. A pronounced burlesque and playful tendency tones down the philosophical structures that we outlined, while character problems aggravate the author's divided view of knowledge and of life

Examinant trois fictions « épistémologiques » de l’âge classique (Kepler, Cyrano, Fontenelle) ce travail propose une théorie cognitive et pragmatiste de la fiction et de ses effets sur nos croyances et nos visions du monde. L’étude du traitement des savoirs scientifiques dans ces trois textes révèle des procédés de brouillage qui empêchent de réduire leur fonction cognitive à celle des expériences de pensée. Un nouveau vocabulaire critique (notions de redescription, recontextualisation et exemplification) est alors proposé pour décrire leur action sur des processus inférentiels lors de la lecture, mais surtout pour penser cette action à partir des textes eux-mêmes, de leurs effets de style et de dispositif. Ce qui en résulte est une théorie de la fiction qui met l’accent sur les gestes et les usages que celle-ci peut offrir ou afforder, aux conséquences formatrices ou encapacitantes par rapport à certaines de nos dispositions ou de nos facultés cognitivesThrough the study of three epistemological fictions from the early modern period (Kepler, Cyrano, Fontenelle) this work offers a cognitivist and pragmatist theory of fiction and of its effects on our beliefs and vision of the world. La fondation de l’Académie française en 1635 a donné lieu à d’intéressants développements en ce qui concerne la littérature et l’écriture au XVIIe siècle. C’est cet intérêt pour l’exploration de la langue et des limites de celle-ci qui formera l’objectif de cet ouvrage.
Nous allons voir comment Cyrano de Bergerac et Guilleragues sont parvenus à pousser et exploiter les limites de la langue française pour insérer dans leurs recueils de lettres d’amour respectifs des figures de style et de rhétorique qui expriment à la fois le sentiment amoureux et des opinions voilées. Les deux auteurs utilisent la lettre d’amour pour révéler de façon dissimulée leur intérêts respectifs pour de tels thèmes que la guerre, la religion, la vie politique et la science. Nous allons aussi explorer les stratégies d’écriture employées par les auteurs telles que le cynisme, le monologue et la rétrospective nécessaires à la manipulation de la parole écrite afin d’insérer le double-sens dans le texte.
Les thèmes et les stratégies d’écriture se chevauchent habituellement dans les lettres pour former un corpus hétérogène chez les deux auteurs. Nous allons porter un intérêt particulier au développement de ces catégories de lettres du point de vue féminin dans le corpus de Guilleragues et du point de vue masculin dans le corpus de Cyrano de Bergerac, tout en gardant à l’idée que l’aspect fictif du recueil de Guilleragues exprime souvent des essentialismes populaires de l’époque en ce qui concerne le point de vue féminin pour les comparer avec le point de vue masculin développé par Cyrano de Bergerac.

Depuis quelques années Cyrano de Bergerac bénéficie d’un regain d’intérêt dans les études littéraires. Toutefois, ce vaste champ bibliographique se centre essentiellement sur les deux romans ou sur le recueil de lettres, sans prendre en compte l’ensemble de l’œuvre d’un écrivain pourtant polygraphe. Le présent travail se propose à la fois de trouver la cohérence d’un geste d’écriture au-delà des variations génériques, et d’analyser la dimension idiosyncrasique d’un style : la singularité de l’écriture cyranienne mérite d’être envisagée hors de tout rattachement à un groupe littéraire ou idéologique (qu’on pense, notamment, aux « burlesques » ou encore aux « libertins »). Les perspectives croisées de la stylistique et de l’analyse du discours permettent de faire émerger une quête permanente de la virtuosité langagière, dont l’écriture de la pointe est le support privilégié.Cyrano écrit pour susciter l’admiration, comme il en convient lui-même : l’ensemble de son œuvre porte la trace de cette aspiration. However the many studies published recently have mainly focused on his two novels or on the collection of his letters, without really taking into account his body of works in its entirety. Cyrano writes to arouse admiration, as he confesses himself; his whole body of works bears the mark of this endeavour. Notre travail questionne l'assise temporelle de Cyrano de Bergerac d'Edmond Rostand. En effet, depuis 1897 et encore aujourd'hui, l'œuvre a la réputation d'être le dernier drame romantique français, au mépris des plus grandes évidences chronologiques. Notre approche allie littérature, histoire et sociologie. Notre travail s'applique dans un premier temps à éclairer cette impression d'anachronisme en explorant les pistes du romantisme, du cape et d'épée et des liens entretenus avec la comédie héroïque ainsi que la commedia dell'arte. Nous cherchons ensuite à montrer l'ancrage de la pièce dans son temps, en exhibant notamment ses rapports avec l'idéalisme fin de siècle et la modernité de sa proposition dramatique, qui tient du théâtre total, recourant par exemple fortement aux arts dits « mineurs ». Nous accordons toute leur place aux composantes du nez et du panache qui font l'originalité de l'œuvre rostandienne. Enfin, nous tâchons de saisir la constitution de Cyrano comme mythe littéraire et culturel en étudiant sa réception par la presse, la critique théâtrale, les artistes et la population, tout en soulignant le tournant qu'a représenté la Première Guerre mondiale. Nous interrogeons les tentatives de récupérations politiques en abordant l'aspect national de l'œuvre. Par là même, nous insistons, d'un point de vue littéraire, sur les spécificités du drame qui allie efficacement gauloiserie et préciosité. Nous soulignons finalement le passage du littéraire au moral, de l'esthétique à l'idéologique, pour montrer que Cyrano de Bergerac, loin de n'être qu'une simple pièce de théâtre, est devenue un véritable objet socialThis PhD dissertation queries the context in which Edmond Rostand wrote Cyrano de Bergerac. Since 1897, this play has been considered as the last French romantic drama, despite obvious chronological facts. Combining literature, history and sociology, this PhD dissertation throws light on this impression of anachronism by considering the entries of romanticism, cloak-and-dagger, heroic comedy and commedia dell'arte. Then, it shows that the work is deeply rooted in its time : first, because of its links with the "fin de siècle" idealism ; then, because it is an attempt of "total theatre" and because it includes arts that are often seen as "minor". Of course, we attach great importance to Cyrano's nose and panache which are key components of the play. Finally, studying how the newspapers, the dramatic critics, the artists and people apprehend the play and its heroe, this PhD dissertation considers Cyrano de Bergerac as a literary and cultural myth. Highlighting World War One as a turning point, we show that the play was used in a political way. Cyrano de Bergerac is supposed to be a national play but truly in a literary manner because of the alliance of "gauloiserie" and preciosity. Therefore, this dissertation shows how Rostand's work moves from a matter of literature to a matter of ethics, from an aesthetic aspect to an ideological one. Indeed, Cyrano de Bergerac is not just a play but a real social object

Comme on disait chez lui, « lorsque l'on naît d'un lion on devient un lion », lui était né de rats et, selon les lois, devait demeurer de jour adossé à son mur et de nuit, chercher de quoi manger. Jusqu'au jour où l'Étrangère arrive au village. Étrange voyageuse, elle voit au-delà de la condition de l'enfant et découvre une étincelle au fond de lui. Quelques mois passent et tous les jours, elle s'assoit au côté de l'enfant stoïque et lui parle de sa vie, des mathématiques, de la survie en forêt, de tout. Cependant, un matin, personne ne vient s'asseoir aux côtés de l'enfant. Il se questionne sans succès et finit par poser le regard sur l'objet le plus précieux que l'Étrangère possède, sur une table devant lui, et prend la première décision de son existence : il retournerait l'objet à l'Étrangère. À travers ces lignes, je me questionne sur le bonheur humain, pourquoi certains l'atteignent, pourquoi échappe-t-il aux autres et à quel point sommes-nous responsables de ce résultat. Dans la section essai, je discute « bonheur » avec Rostand et Voltaire par le biais de nos trois œuvres, Cyrano de Bergerac, Candide et Charif ou l'antipathie du bonheur. Je compare le destin de ces personnages surdimensionnés et m'interroge sur l'implication de chacun quant à l'atteinte de leur but ou leur échec, à savoir s'ils parviennent ou non à atteindre le bonheur.In a village, lost in a grey desert, a young boy following in a long tradition could not aspire for happiness. As we say in his country, "when born from a lion, a lion you become". He descended from rats and hence, according to the law, he would remain against the wall by day and scavenge for scraps by night. That is, until the Traveller arrived in the village. The mysterious wanderer could see beyond his condition and soon she uncovered a spark in him. Months went by and day after day she would sit next to the stoic boy and tell him about her life, about mathematics, forest survival, anything and everything. One morning, however, nobody came. The boy remained puzzled until he noticed the Traveller's most cherished possession lying on a table in front of him. At that point, he took the first decision of his life, namely returning it to the Traveller. In these pages, I explore the matter of human happiness, why some find it, why others do not and to what extent do we play a role in the result. In the essay, I discuss the subject of happiness with Rostand and Voltaire based on our work, more specifically Cyrano de Bergerac, Candide and Charif ou l'antipathie du bonheur. Therein I compare the destiny of bigger-than-life characters and wonder about their involvement in reaching their goal or not, that is, finding happiness.

Esta dissertação consiste em uma abordagem comparatista da morte enquanto temática confluente na obra dos escritores fronteiriços Horacio Quiroga e Cyro Martins. As leituras e análises realizadas destinam-se a verificar a representação da morte, as circunstâncias que a determinam enquanto temática, relacionando-as com as motivações dos autores. Nesse trajeto, examina-se também a questão do ser fronteiriço e de sua cultura. Pretende-se mostrar que a morte compõe um universo de complexas relações no qual as vivências pessoais dos escritores tornam-se determinantes. Servindo-se dos conceitos operatórios da Literatura Comparada, como a intertextualidade e a interdisciplinariedade, procurou-se identificar alguns contos em que o limite entre vida e morte torna-se, mais do que uma divisão, um modo de viver e de narrar. Em Cyro Martins, a morte é vista como etapa e conseqüência; em Quiroga, ela representa o fim da vida. A transposição desse limite é antecipada por circunstâncias que fortalecem o significado final dos textos, eis que os autores narram a morte para acentuar a luta pela vida. O estudo dessa característica induz a pensar os limiares entre vida e morte como analogias à noção de fronteiras espaciais e culturais. Com este trabalho, pretende-se contribuir para ampliar a reflexão sobre a literatura sul-rio-grandense em sua relação com a cultura do Prata.

Cyro Martins ? os anos decisivos (1908-1951) is a biographical work, which aims to tell part of the life of the doctor, psychoanalyst and writer Cyro dos Santos Martins, born in Quara? on August 5, 1908 and deceased in Porto Alegre on December 15, 1995. In these decisive years are the beginning of the formation, the years spent as an internal student of the Col?gio Anchieta, the period in the Faculdade de Medicina de Porto Alegre, the return to Quara?, the loss of the father, the first marriage, the specialization in neurology in Rio de Janeiro, the publication of five books ? Campo fora (1934), Sem rumo (1937), Enquanto as ?guas correm (1939), Mensagem errante (1942), Porteira fechada (1944) ?, collaborations in the press, insertion in the literary system of Rio Grande do Sul, as an employee in the Hospital Psiqui?trico S?o Pedro, the birth of daughters, separation, second marriage and departure for Buenos Aires. The study also contemplates, at an initial moment, considerations about the biographical genre ? theorists such as Leon Edel, Anna Caball? and Fran?ois Dosse are cited ? , elucidates the relationship between the biographer and the biographer, explains the methods used and indicates the spaces of research.

Cette recherche appréhende l’œuvre de Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac (1619-1655) d’un point de vue proprement philosophique. La cohérence de la pensée cyranienne se constitue dans l’exigence de penser le réel comme intégralement matériel. L’originalité de la démarche consiste à proposer plusieurs réponses susceptibles de remplir une telle exigence. Si tout peut s’expliquer par la matière et ses mouvements, il y a plusieurs façons de penser la nature de la matière, et celle de son activité. L’interrogation cyranienne prend alors pleinement en compte les enjeux de la science qui lui est contemporaine. En outre, Cyrano fait sien le passage d’un monde clos à un univers infini, et se propose de penser la pluralité infinie des mondes. Enfin, les hommes sont pensés comme matériels de part en part. Resumo: Dá Licença Maestro!: a trajetória musical de Cyro Pereira enfoca a vida e a obra do maestro, compositor e arranjador gaúcho Cyro Marin Pereira, um dos nomes mais representativos do cenário musical atual e da história da radiodifusão brasileira. A dissertação está estruturada em três capítulos que apresentam um pequeno estudo biográfico, um catálogo de toda a produção e uma análise do processo composicional de Cyro Pereira. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a obra Carinhoso de autoria do maestro, compositor e arranjador Cyro Pereira a fim de determinar a distância entre esta peça e a composição original de Pixinguinha. Para isso, analisamos ambas as obras do ponto de vista formal, harmônico e melódico. Também examinamos as definições pertencentes aos universos erudito e popular como arranjo, fantasia, variação e \'borrowing\' . Esta pesquisa dos aspectos teóricos forneceram elementos para responder a importante questão que é o tema central desta dissertação: Carinhoso de Cyro Pereira é arranjo ou composição?This research intends to analyze the musical piece Carinhoso by the conductor, composer and arranger Cyro Pereira in order to point out the differences between this piece and the original one by Pixinguinha. I worked on a formal, harmonic and melodic analysis of these pieces. I also examined the definitions referred to the erudite and popular universes of arrangement. The investigation of the theoretical aspects gave me elements to answer the important question, which is the central theme of this work: is Carinhoso by Cyro Pereira an arrangement or a composition?

Desse modo, propomos a leitura analítica do romance de Cyro dos Anjos numa chave que leve em conta a relação entre a matéria ficcional e os elementos sociais e culturais que ali estão representados.This dissertation investigates how the configuration of the narrator of Abdias formalaises, literarily, the figure of the brazilian middle-class intelectual of the 1930\'s. In this sense, it proposes an analytical analyses of Cyro dos Anjos\' novel in a perspective that takes into consideration the relation between the fiction and the social and cultural elements that are there represented.

Este trabalho de Mestrado propõe uma análise sobre a escrita orquestral da música brasileira com foco na Suíte Brasiliana n.1 de Cyro Pereira, composta em 1962. Assim, contextualiza e apresenta um histórico da escrita da música popular brasileira para orquestra, citando trechos de partituras de alguns arranjos de Pixinguinha e Radamés Gnattali na Época de Ouro da década de 1930. Analisa como os instrumentos musicais não convencionais são inseridos na orquestra e como são utilizados novos elementos rítmicos em obras do repertório sinfônico brasileiro, destacando composições de Heitor Villa-Lobos. Registra, ainda, uma pesquisa sobre os ritmos brasileiros: dobrado, toada, choro, valsa e baião. Explana sobre utilização dos recursos composicionais e das técnicas de orquestração na obra de Cyro Pereira, fazendo uso de exemplos construídos tendo como base a partitura da suíte na versão adaptada e reorquestrada de 1992. Por fim, vale ressaltar que, como parte deste trabalho, foi realizada uma edição revisada da partitura da Suíte Brasiliana n. 1 (versão de 1992).This fine Masters work aims at analyzing the orchestral score of the Brazilian music focusing at Suite Brasiliana n.1 by Cyro Pereira, composed in 1962. Therefore, it contextualizes and presents a detailed report of the written composition of the Brazilian Popular Music for orchestra, making reference to passages of scores from some musical arrangements by Pixinguinha and Radamés Gnattali in the Época de Ouro (The Golden Period) in the thirties. It analyzes both the way through which non conventional instruments are put in the orchestra and how the new rhythmic elements of some Brazilian symphonic opuses are used, giving emphasis to the musical work composed by Villas-Lobos. It also shows a research about Brazilian rhythms: dobrado (marching music), toada, choro, valsa (waltz) and baião. Besides, it explains how the compositional resources and the techniques for orchestration are used in Cyro Pereira´s work, giving examples from the score of the suite adapted and reorchestrated in the 1992 version. Finally, it is worth to point out that it was part of this paper to make a revised version of the score Suite Brasiliana n.1 by Cyro Pereira (in the 1992 version).

This dissertation objective is to make an analysis of how the genre diary is used in the Cyro dos Anjos’ novels: O amanuense Belmiro, Abdias and Montanha. Having such a priority we will seek to understand how this genre, for being fragmented and libertarian, enables a favorable environment for the exhibition of the personhood of the narrators. In this perspective, we will analyze the novels under the concept of diary, highlighting the peculiarities of this genre and analyzing how this structure contributes for the works in research. Therefore, we will use the theory of Philippe Lejeune (2008) about the diaristic format, as well as we will search for subsidies in the critical fortune of the literary works. Above all, we will rely on the readings of the novels, with the help of theories that have some connection with the proposed subject. Finally, we will show that the diary is the lyrical base of the three novels, as well as the connection point among them.Esta dissertação tem como proposta fazer uma análise do modo como o gênero diário é utilizado nos romances de Cyro dos Anjos: O amanuense Belmiro, Abdias e Montanha. Tendo tal prioridade, buscaremos compreender como esse gênero, por ser fragmentado e libertário, possibilita um ambiente propício para a exposição da pessoalidade dos narradores. Nesta perspectiva, analisaremos os romances à luz do conceito de diário, ressaltando as peculiaridades desse gênero e analisando o modo como essa estrutura contribui para as obras em pesquisa. Para tanto, utilizaremos a teoria de Philippe Lejeune (2008) a respeito do formato diarístico, assim como procuraremos subsídio na fortuna crítica das obras. Sobretudo, nos basearemos nas leituras dos romances, com o auxílio de teorias que possuam alguma ligação com a temática proposta. Por fim, buscaremos mostrar que o diário é a base lírica dos três romances, assim como um ponto de encontro entre eles.

Resumo: Esta tese propõe uma nova leitura da obra literária de Cyro dos Anjos, tendo como ponto de partida a questão do mito quixotesco, constantemente referida nos romances do Autor. Estuda-se, assim, o mito, tendo como base a obra de ciência das religiões, de Mircea Eliade, bem como a fenomenológica de Gaston Bachelard. O caráter quixotesco é fundamentado em afirmações amplamente consagradas pela clássica crítica literária acerca da obra de Cervantes, sendo os estudos mais importantes, os de Miguel de Unamuno e José Ortega y Gasset. Esse caráter quixotesco é representado por toda a esfera imaginativa, sobretudo a arte e a poesia. Para Cyro, a poesia é a própria vida, compreendendo também o amor, a memória, o sonho, a música, a crença religiosa e até mesmo Deus, a poesia suprema. A tese aponta Cyro dos Anjos como partidário do quixotismo cervantino, revelando-o como um Autor que transpõe o idealismo mítico universal para uma obra genuinamente brasileira
Abstract: This study proposes to present a new interpretation of the literary work of Cyro dos Anjos, based on the Quixotesque myth, constantly mentioned in the Author's novels. The myth is discussed from the work of Mircea Eliade, based on the study of religions, as well as from the fenomenology of Gaston Bachelard. The Quixotesque characteristics are based on already established ideas by the classical literary criticism of Cervantes's works, such as the studies by Miguel de Unamuno, José Ortega y Gasset. Art and Poetry are the major representatives of the Quixotesque, that means the imaginative sphere. For Cyro dos Anjos, Poetry is Life, and also includes love, memory, dream, music, religious belief, and even God - the supreme Poetry. This study presents Cyro dos Anjos as a follower of Cervantes's Quixotesque, but as an Author who carries this universal mythical idealism to a genuine Brazilian novel

This research analyses the way female characters are portrayed in O amanuense Belmiro, Abdias and Montanha, by Cyro dos Anjos, observing what happens according to their narrators, the representation of these figures that present traditional and modern stereotypes. The traditional characters that make up the corpus are drawn from each of these novels, and Emily, Charlotte and Claudia figures who act contaminated by traces of attitudes linked to a sociocultural tradition. In contrast, we examine also the modern characters Jandira, Gabriela and Anna Maria, which are built with aspects of the modern woman. Theoretical resource, we use theoretical and critical texts on the historical and cultural context of colonial Brazil until the twentieth century, in order to understand the social conventions and figuration of the characters that simulate certain behaviors that social structure.Esta pesquisa consiste em analisar como as personagens femininas são retratadas em O amanuense Belmiro, Abdias e Montanha, de Cyro dos Anjos, observando como ocorre, de acordo com seus narradores, a representação dessas figuras que apresentam estereótipos tradicionais e modernos. As personagens tradicionais que compõem o corpus são retiradas de cada um desses romances, sendo Emília, Carlota e Cláudia figuras que agem contaminadas pelos resquícios de atitudes vinculadas a uma tradição sociocultural. Em contraponto, analisam-se, também, as personagens modernas Jandira, Gabriela e Ana Maria, que são construídas com aspectos da mulher moderna. Como recurso teórico, utilizam-se textos teóricos e críticos sobre o contexto histórico e cultural do Brasil Colônia até o século XX, com o intuito de compreender as convenções sociais e a figuração das personagens que simulam certos comportamentos dessa estrutura social.

Resumo: A Etnomusicologia e os Estudos de Música Popular procuram evidenciar os sentidos e nexos sociais das variadas práticas musicais populares. A presente pesquisa pretende contribuir para o aprofundamento da discussão acerca do trabalho do arranjador e de sua posição autoral na dinâmica criativa da música popular fonográfica. Tomando as realizações do maestro Cyro Pereira (1929-2011), especialmente seus escritos para a Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica de São Paulo, este estudo propõe também uma reflexão acerca da dicotomia erudito/popular, tão relevante na produção musical brasileira do Século XX. A análise semiótica da música popular, com metodologia adaptada a partir dos modelos de Philip Tagg (1982) e José Luiz Martinez (1997), foi o caminho trilhado para traduzir em termos compartilháveis com o leitor todo o universo poético da amostragem aqui tratada. De toda a obra de Cyro Pereira, arranjador e regente nacionalmente estabelecido, também autor de obra erudita considerável e premiada, esta pesquisa lida principalmente com os arranjos populares escritos a partir de 1990. Sua produção de música popular revela alto grau de elaboração nos planos harmônico, formal e sobretudo expressivo, e pode apontá-lo também como um notável orquestrador que este país produziu. Poder-se-ia acrescentar que Cyro Pereira talvez seja o maior representante contemporâneo do arranjo orquestral, escrevendo música instrumental e versões orquestrais de canções, igualmente. A série intitulada "Fantasia Sinfônica", escrita pelo maestro ao longo de quase vinte anos, traz elementos contundentes na defesa de tais criações como composições autônomas, embora se baseiem em obras de outros autores (ou seus fragmentos). Nesses trabalhos o autor projeta sua visão do que seja um panorama essencial da música brasileira popular, instando por uma legitimação musical de tais feitos
Abstract: Ethnomusicology and the Popular Music Studies attempts to show the meanings and social senses of several popular music practices. The current research intends to contribute for a serious discussion about the arranger's work as well as his authorial position in the creative dynamic of the popular music phonography. Taking the accomplishments of the composer and conductor Cyro Pereira (1929-2011), especially his works for the Orquestra Jazz Sinfonica de Sao Paulo, this study also suggests a discussion about the classical/popular dichotomy so relevant in the Brazilian musical production of the 20th century. The semiotic analysis of popular music, with adapted methodology from José Luiz Martinez (1997) and Philip Tagg's (1982) models was the way chosen to explain in shareable terms to the reader all the poetical universe of the sampling here mentioned. Of all Cyro Pereira's works, arranger and nationally established regent and also author of considerable and awarded classical music, this research has dealt especially with the written popular arrangements since 1990. His popular music production reveals a high degree of elaboration in the harmonic, formal and above all expressive plans and he can be also alluded as a remarkable Orchestrator that this country has ever produced. It can also be added that Cyro Pereira may be the biggest Brazilian contemporary arranger for orchestra, writing instrumental music and orchestral versions of songs, as well. The series called "Fantasia Sinfonica", written by the maestro for almost twenty years brings remarkable elements in the defense of some creations such as compositions by his own, eventhough they are based on songs by other authors (or its fragments). In those works the author designs his vision on what is an essential panorama of Brazilian popular music, urging for a musical better rating of these achievements

Despu?s de cuatro d?cadas sin irse a Quara? (RS), su ciudad, Cyro escribe su tercero libro de cuentos, Rodeio (1976), en que se pone como protagonista de sus historias y como un "exilado" retornado al hogar. Luego, en 1980, publica A dama do saladeiro, una experiencia rememorativa que retrata su ?poca de estudiante en la capital gaucha y de medico de la frontera. Asumindo la posici?n de narrador, Cyro Martins habla de si evocando su pasado marcando en esas narrativas su transitoriedad entre espacios f?sicos y sentimentales. De esa manera, ese trabajo pretende presentar una subjetividad de un escritor que es amplamente conocido por la publicaci?n de la Trilogia do ga?cho a p?. Por tal lectura, fueron verificados especialmente los estudios de Edward Said y Julia Kristeva, en lo que dice a respecto del exilio, y los escritos de Phillipe Lejeune, Gastan Bachelard y Ecl?a Bosi, concernientes a la escritura memorialista. Adem?s, los recuerdos en cuentos de Cyro Martins, acondicionados por el sentimiento de exilio, presentan a los lectores un escritor que tiene como cimiento de la vida e experiencias po?ticas y literarias.

O presente trabalho tem como propósito mostrar que Estrada nova (1954), último romance que compõe a intitulada "trilogia do gaúcho a pé", de Cyro Martins, pode oferecer uma possibilidade de leitura através do uso da sátira. Esta, entendida como crítica social do autor ao poder exercido pela conjuntura política em vigor, sistematiza-se no ataque a duas facções: de um lado, ao coronelismo rural e, de outro, ao grupo de dirigentes políticos que representa a classe urbana culta. O riso apresenta-se como o recurso utilizado
a fim de alcançar o sentido crítico esperado, qual seja, a denúncia da disputa de poder entre os representantes de classes superiores. Trata-se, pois, da utilização desse elemento como meio de dessacralizar conceitos em vigor. Ao eleger a figura frágil de Teodoro enquanto modelo humano que corporifica o morador da Campanha gaúcha, Cyro Martins promove, através do riso, a subversão da tradição e do mito que consagrou a figura do gaúcho. Em um segundo momento, o alvo de "ataque" do autor é o grupo político constituído por autoridades que acabam por desbancar Teodoro da condição de dominador de seu mundo. Através da denúncia de falcatruas, o autor desnuda uma sociedade inescrupulosa que faz da mentira e da trapaça meios para permanecer no poder. Os desmandos denunciados pela sátira, por fim, deixam antever a classe dos dominados e sua progressiva tomada de consciência a respeito da repressão de que são vítimas.

Previous issue date: 2014This dissertation is about the relationship between literature and history, focusing on the work Gaúchos no obelisco, published in 1984 by the writer and psychoanalyst Cyro Martins. Among its objectives are to analyze the interweaving of literature and history in the work of Cyro Martins, to uncover the techniques used for the history's insertion in the novel and to examine the literary elements present in the narrative. In 1980, Cyro presented, at the Simpósio sobre a Revolução de 1930, a literary text about the historical event. From this theme, this paper is built. At first, thre is an analysis about the presence of history within the narrative through referential aspects such as dates, places, entities and historical characters. After, divided into nucleus, fictional characters are observed. Some of the theorists who subsidize this study are Maria Teresa de Freitas, Alcmeno Bastos, Käte Hamburger, Antonio Candido, Sandra Jatahy Pesavento and Luiz Costa Lima.
Esta dissertação trata das relações entre literatura e história, com enfoque na obra Gaúchos no obelisco, publicada em 1984 pelo escritor e psicanalista sul-rio-grandense Cyro Martins. Entre seus objetivos estão o de analisar o entrelaçamento de literatura e história na obra de Cyro Martins, o de constatar as técnicas utilizadas para a inserção da história no romance e o de examinar os elementos literários presentes na narrativa. No ano de 1980, Cyro apresentou, no Simpósio sobre a Revolução de 1930, um texto literário sobre o evento histórico. A partir desse mote, o presente trabalho se constrói. Em um primeiro momento, é analisada a presença da história dentro da narrativa através de aspectos referenciais como as datas, os espaços, as entidades e as personagens históricas. Na sequência, divididas em núcleos, são observadas as personagens ficcionais. Esta pesquisa realizada no Acervo de Escritores Mineiros observa como a recepção crítica do romance O amanuense Belmiro, de Cyro dos Anjos, compõe uma imagem heterogênea do intelectual moderno ao interpretar a figura do narrador como funcionário público. As entrevistas do escritor mineiro, os livros de sua coleção bibliográfica e a fortuna crítica permitem estabelecer novas figuras e metáforas teóricas que associam aspectos lingüísticos, biográficos e sociais na composição do objeto literário. Como arcabouço teórico, faço recurso ao conceito de modernidade em Max Weber, que concebe o Estado como uma empresa capitalista, à noção de conflito em George Simmel, e as concepções de narrativa, drama e história em Walter Benjamin. No estudo da figura do intelectual, procuro relacionar os objetos do acervo de Cyro dos Anjos aos estudos críticos do romance e aos teóricos citados

Il s'agit ici d'étudier les relations complexes, mobiles et fertiles, entre une philosophie - l'épicurisme - et certaines œuvres littéraires au XVIIe siècle, en France. Dans ce massif trop peu exploré - bien que sans cesse mentionne qu'est la philosophie de P. Gassendi, on a essayé, dans la première partie de dégager quelques grands axes qui permettent de comprendre ses affinités diffusées avec certains types d'écriture : une réhabilitation cognitive de l'apparence, une théorie du signe, une logique de la sensation et de l'imagination, une vision expérimentale de la raison. L'autre monde de Cyrano, les fables de La Fontaine, l'œuvre en prose de Saint-Évremond : trois études monographiques permettent, dans une seconde partie, de mesurer l'extrême mobilité des motifs épicuriens ou gassendiens, la variété des plans sur lesquels ils se déplacent à l'intérieur de chaque œuvre, de voir comment ils participent à l'invention d'un espace littéraire qui les excède tout en y introduisant des repères philosophiques, épistémologiques et moraux singuliers. Mais au prix à chaque fois, de quelles déviations, de quelles "clinamens" caractéristiques ? In the first part, through a careful reading of p. Resumo: A dissertação de mestrado compara as obras de Afonso Henriques de Lima Barreto (1881 - 1922) e de Cyro dos Anjos (1906 - 1994) a partir da ótica do funcionário público, analisando a distância entre o tipo ideal burocrático de Max Weber (1864 - 1920), a administração pública brasileira e os personagens e situações que aparecem na obra dos dois autores, e procurando entender de que forma o patrimonialismo dominante no período é retratado por eles, bem como as razões da dificuldade de romper com ele. O texto tem como focos principais de estudo os romances O Amanuense Belmiro (1937) e Vida e Morte de M. J. Gonzaga de Sá (1919), mas também se volta para Coisas do Reino do Jambon e Os Bruzundangas, de Lima Barreto, publicadas postumamente em 1953 e 1923, respectivamente, e para A Menina do Sobrado (1979), de Cyro dos Anjos. A pesquisa partiu do pressuposto de que as obras literárias constituíam um ponto de partida pertinente para a compreensão da época em que foram escritas; no decorrer da análise, constatou que o inverso também era verdadeiro: a questão do funcionário público mostrou-se uma chave interpretativa que não se fecha em si mesma, permitindo entender os dois romances que protagonizam este estudo de forma mais ampla.
Abstract: The dissertation compares the works of Afonso Henriques de Lima Barreto (1881 - 1922) and Cyro dos Anjos (1906 - 1994) from the perspective of the public employee, analysing the gap between the ideal type of bureaucracy as defined by Max Weber (1864 - 1920), the Brazilian public employees and the characters and situations that appear in the work of both authors. It also endeavours to understand how the patrimonialism dominant in the period is portrayed by them as well as the reasons for the difficulty of bringing it to an end. The text has its main focus on the novels O Amanuense Belmiro (1937) and Vida e Morte de M. J. Gonzaga de Sá (1919), but it also analyses Coisas do Reino do Jambon and Os Bruzundangas, by Lima Barreto, published posthumously in 1953 and 1923, respectively, and A Menina do Sobrado (1979), by Cyro dos Anjos. The research assumed from its beginning that literary works constitute a possible and interesting departure point for understanding the time they were written. During the analysis, it discovered that the reverse was also true: the question of the public employee has proven itself a useful interpretation, capable of conducting the reader to what is central in the two novels and to a broader understanding of them.
