Abstract:
The siphonophore sub-order Cystonectae presently comprises just five species in three genera and two families, and includes Physalia physalis, the Portuguese Man O’War. Despite the smallness of the group its history has been very chequered, particularly for P. physalis, which has been described under more than fifty different names. Haeckel (1888) was one of the worst offenders regarding the description of questionable species, but even Totton (1965) was uncertain as to the validity of some previously described cystonect species. Herein, an attempt has been made to review the history of the su

Abstract Objective. Accurate tumor detection is critical in cystoscopy to improve bladder cancer resection and decrease recurrence. Advanced deep learning algorithms hold the potential to improve the performance of standard white-light cystoscopy (WLC) in a noninvasive and cost-effective fashion. The purpose of this work is to develop a cost-effective, transformer-augmented deep learning algorithm for accurate detection of bladder tumors in WLC and to assess its performance on archived patient data. Approach. ‘CystoNet-T’, a deep learning-based bladder tumor detector, was developed with a tran

From June to September 2022, five colonies of the rare hydrozoan siphonophore Rhizophysa eysenhardtii were observed for the first time near the surface in False Bay, South Africa. The two colonies in June/July were small with all tentacles contracted, while the September colonies were larger, the largest up to 0.8 m long (in video), with most of its tentacles extended for feeding. In this species, tentacles are typically pink and each arises from the proximal end of a gastrozooid, which engulfs and digests the prey. Fish larvae were noted in the gastrozooids and counted and a chaetognat

Introduction: Urinary stones are one of the most common and painful diseases of humans after urinary tract infections and prostate diseases. Objectives: The aim of this study was comparing the efficacy and complications of combined cystone and hydrochlorothiazide with cystone monotherapy in the treatment of upper urinary stones. Patients and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial 80 patients older than 15 years old with renal and ureteral stones less than 10 mm after taking informed consent form were allocated randomly in one of two groups. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the Invitro Anti- urolithiatic activity of the selected plant Cuminum cyminum seed extract by using the titrimetry method. The work was performed by using invitro Anti- urolithiatic model for calculating percentage dissolution of Calcium oxalate stone. The standard drug was cystone. The seed extract of Cuminum cyminum showed the higher dissolution than the standard drug cystone. The 30mg/ml seed extract of Cuminum cyminum was highest among the test groups.
