The aim of the present study was to assess atypical changes in urothelial cells among petroleum station workers. This is a case control study, investigating 300 participants by cytological methods. Of the 300 participants, 150 were cases (exposed to petroleum products) and 150 were controls (non-exposed). Full voided urine was obtained and was cytologically assessed. Cytological atypia was identified in nine (6%) out of the 150 cases and could not be identified in 141/150 (94%) of the cases, whereas, in the control group, cytological atypia was recognized in four (2.7%) of the 150 controls and

Abstract:
Introduction: At present, the gynaecologists have been increasingly frequently switching from vaginal biocoenosis assessment towards cervical cytology results to obtain information on the type of infection. Exfoliative cervical cytology is a screening test for dysplastic intraepithelial lesions and ectocervical cancers. One should emphasize however that one of the four parts of the new Bethesda classification specifies such inflammatory lesions as: Trichomonas vaginalis, Candida, Actinomyces, Chlamydia, cellular changes consistent with HSV infection and ch

Effects of clethodim treatment on mitotic cells of P. sativum were studied in the present investigation. Pisum sativum seeds are treated with different concentrations of clethodim varying from 0.01, 0.02, 0.03 and 0.04% for 1 and 2 hrs and their effect on seed germination, radicle length, mitotic index and chromosomal anomalies were investigated. The outcomes reveal that treatment of clethodim on P. sativum seeds diminishes seed germination, radicle length, and mitotic index in dose-dependent manner. Also, in clethodim treated seeds which are time and concentration dependent, an escalation in

Abstract:
Tobacco use, both smoking, and chewing, is a risk factor for the development of oral mucosa changes. Tobacco in cigarettes causes an imbalance between antioxidant enzymes in metabolizing and detoxifying carcinogens in tobacco, which may cause changes in the oral epithelium that leads to lesions and dysplasia. This study aimed to assess and compare the cytological changes in the oral mucosal of smokers and non-smokers. Assessment of smokers based on the type of cigarette smoking, the degree of smoking, and the duration of smoking. The design study was a case-control study, as was a non-probabil

The aim of this study was to provide the first systematic description of human placental cytology appearances and to investigate syncytiotrophoblast nuclear organisation patterns using cytology techniques. Term placentas from normal pregnancies were sampled using fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and direct scrapes. Standard histological examination was also performed to exclude pathological changes in the placentas being studied. Both Papanicolaou-stained cytospin preparations and air-dried Giemsa slides from FNA provided high-quality material for cytological assessment with good cellularity. Amon

Objective. To analyze the results of cytological screening for cervical cancer in women, living in the Perm Territory.
Materials and methods. The work is based on the results of a cytological study of 4670 women aged 29 to 70 years who underwent additional medical examinations in medical institutions of Perm and the Perm Territory for the period from 2017 to 2019.
Results. It was established that regardless of the place of residence, normal cytograms prevail. Inflammatory changes were more often observed in the urban population than among women living in the village. As age increas

Background: Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by helminths of the genus Schistosoma. Morbidity markers and cytological observations such as squamous metaplastic cells, inflammatory cells, and hyperkeratotic cells in the urine of S. haematobium-infected children may suggest disease severity. They may also help predict severe forms of clinical presentation, such as bladder cancer in later years, among infected ones who miss out on early detection and treatment. Insights into possible changes in the morbidity markers and cytological observations in the urine of these S. haema

SUMMARYThe aim of our study is to describe the prevalence of the different HPV types in women with pre-neoplastic lesions of the cervix in Greece. Cervical scrapes from 841 women were obtained for both cytological evaluation and analysis for the presence of HPV DNA. PCR was performed on specimens from these 841 women. The Pap test results were normal or showed benign cellular changes in 45·8% of the women, atypical squamous cells of undeterminated significance (ASCUS) in 23·2%, low-grade squamous intra-epithelial lesion (LSIL) in 27·9% and high-grade squamous intra-epithelial lesion (HSIL) in
