de História Medieval<br>A infanta D. Beatriz, filha do rei de Castela D. Sancho IV e da rainha D. Maria
de Molina, tornou-se rainha de Portugal ao contrair matrimónio, no ano de 1309, com
D. Afonso IV. Foi para servir os interesses político-diplomáticos dos dois reinos que
este consórcio foi estabelecido nos acordos do Tratado de Alcanises (1297),
contrariando a doutrina eclesiástica que condenava como incestuosos os matrimónios
entre consanguíneos e afins. No caso em apreço, os futuros monarcas portugueses
estavam incluídos neste interdito eclesiástico, embora tenham recebido a necessária
dispensa papal.
Dos três papéis desempenhados por D. Beatriz, mãe, mulher e rainha,
pretendemos demonstrar que a consorte tinha um protagonismo diferente daquele que é
conferido ao monarca, mas não o podemos considerar de menor relevância.
Da investigação efectuada às fontes coevas ressalta, numa primeira observação,
que a rainha senhoreava em algumas terras. Destas recebia proventos com os quais
mantinha os seus vassalos e servidores que com ela compartilhavam a vivência diária no
âmbito da sua “Casa”. Dos muitos conflitos que marcaram o reinado do Bravo
consideramos que aquele que mereceu uma maior atenção por parte da rainha foi o que
opôs o monarca ao infante D. Pedro, seu filho e futuro rei português. Nesta oposição
aberta entre pai e filho, a rainha, não esquecendo o seu papel de mulher, não se opôs,
abertamente, a seu marido. Porém, a documentação deixa-nos entrever a sua
preocupação enquanto mãe, revelando um jogo de bastidores que a rainha manteve com
o objectivo de alcançar a paz não só para o reino, mas também para a sua parentela.
A morte era uma realidade tão constante e presente no quotidiano da sociedade
medieva que era aceite como inerente à própria natureza humana. No entanto, esta
familiaridade não diminuiu o medo sentido face à morte. Porque ela é certa, mas incerta
a sua hora, era necessário preparar o “saimento” deste Mundo. Foi neste contexto que a
rainha de D. Beatriz mandou redigir três testamentos e um codicilo nos quais após a
entrega da alma a Deus e depois de cuidar do seu corpo, deixou expresso como
deveriam ser distribuídos os seus bens móveis. É compreensível que a rainha quisesse
contemplar, de forma privilegiada, os da sua linhagem, procurando, assim, evitar a
fragmentação irremediável dos seus bens. Com as informações obtidas no seu
testamento conseguimos imaginar a soberana durante a sua vivência diária a circular
pelos diferentes espaços de uma forma que se traduzia na ostentação da sua riqueza,
como o impunha a sua condição social. Os objectos que adornaram o seu corpo e a
fizeram resplandecer com o seu brilho e fascínio eram, por um lado, parte da memória
da linhagem e, por outro, parte da sua própria existência.

Previous issue date: 2008<br>Resumo: O método ASTM D 1209-00 descreve o procedimento para a medida visual da coloração de líquidos levemente coloridos, que envolve a comparação visual entre a coloração de amostras com a coloração de padrões Pt-Co com concentração variando de 1 a 500 na escala do ASTM D 1209-00 (soluções obtidas pela mistura de cloroplatinato de potássio, com concentração na faixa de 1,5x10 a 3,6x10 mol L e cloreto de cobalto hexahidratado nas concentrações de 1,7x10 a 4,2x10 mol L). Sabe-se e foi constatado em teste com voluntários, que há grandes dificuldades de aplicação para as soluções mais diluídas (soluções de concentração 1 a 25 unidades de Pt-Co), que são extremamente claras, de difícil distinção em observações visuais e, em muitos casos, representam as amostras de maior interesse em alguns setores de aplicação. Na tentativa de superar essas dificuldades, desenvolveu-se um equipamento robusto e de baixo custo para análises rápidas. Foi utilizado um diodo emissor de luz (LED) azul como fonte de radiação e um fotodiodo com CI S7183 (Hamamatsu) como detector num conjunto de celas de PVC preto com diferentes opções de caminho óptico e com a opção de uso de tubo de vidro interno para conter as soluções. Foram obtidas curvas analíticas com ajuste de segundo grau com as celas de 340 e 170 mm. Com cela de 85 mm foi obtida curva analítica linear com coeficiente de correlação = 0,9978 entre 25 e 500 unidades de Pt-Co. Com o uso de um tubo de vidro obtiveram-se curvas com ajuste polinomial de segunda ordem com as celas de 170 e 85 mm. Para testar o desempenho do dispositivo desenvolvido, foram utilizadas amostras de bisfenol epóxi, hidroperóxido de cumeno, ácido salicílico em etanol e em solução aquosa de carbonato de sódio 10 % m/v e ciclohexanol. Os resultados apresentaram desvios da ordem de ±1 unidade de Pt-Co, mais precisos do que o método ASTM que apresenta desvios de até ±4 unidades de Pt-Co; com relação à exatidão, houve diferença estatística ao nível de 95 %, o que pode remeter a problemas com o método de referência<br>Abstract: The ASTM D1209-00 method describes the procedure for the visual measurement of the color of essentially light colored liquids, which involves the visual comparation between the color of the samples with the color of Pt-Co standards solutions, with concentration from 1 to 500 unities of Pt-Co, the ASTM D 1209-00 scale (solutions obtained by mixing potassium chloroplatinate, from 1,5x10 to 3,6x10 mol L and cobalt chloride in the concentrations of 1,7x10 to 4,2x10 mol L). It is kown and was confirmed in tests with volunteers that there and serious difficulties with this method for very diluted solutions (concentration from 1 to 25 unities of Pt-Co), that are extremely clear, hardly distinguished by visual observation, whose in many cases represent the samples of most interest in some application sectors. In an attempt to overcome these difficulties, a robust and low cost device was developed for a rapid analysis. A blue light emitting diode (LED) was used as a radiation source and a Photo IC Diode S7183 (Hamamatsu) as the detector, in a set of black PVC cells with different options of optical path and with the option of using or not an internal glass tube to load the solutions. Analytical curves were obtained with second degree fitting for 340 and 170 mm cells. An 85 mm cell gives linear analytical curve with correlation coefficient = 0.9978, from 25 to 500 units of Pt-Co. With the use of the glass tube, curves with second order polynomial fitting were obtained for 170 and 85 mm cells. The performance of the device developed were tested with samples of epoxy bisfenol, cumene hidroperoxide, salicilic acid in ethanol and in aqueous solution of sodium carbonate 10 % w/v and cyclohexanol. The results presented deviations of the order of ± 1 units of Pt-Co, more precises than the ASTM method, which presents deviations up to ± 4 units of Pt-Co; with respect to the accuracy, there was statistic difference at the level of 95 %, which can be related to problems with the reference method<br>Mestrado<br>Quimica Analitica<br>Mestre em Química

Previous issue date: 1985<br>Resumo: Neste trabalho apresetamos o projeto completo de um conversor D/A não-linear integrado (Lei A-128), em tecnologia I2L/Linear, que visa atender às especificações dos sistema de transmissão telefônica por modulação de código de pulsos (MCP). O projeto é dividido em duas etapas básicas: a primeira relativa ao projeto dos circuitos digitais I2L, e a segunda, a mais importante, relativa ao projeto dos circuitos analógicos de conversão D/A. A parte do projeto que envolve os circuitos analógicos é discutidas detalhadamente, procurando apresentar de forma clara as técnicas de projeto utilizadas. As avaliações do projeto, realizadas com montagens em "bread-board", usando "arrays" de transistores, mostraram um bom desempenho, indicando que uma versão em circuito integrado, deverá apresentar um desempenho, muito bom, atendendo facilmente as características necessárias ao conversor D/A do sistema MCP.<br>Abstract: The design of an integrated PCM non-linear D/A converter (A-128 law) in I2L/Linear technology is presented. The work has two main parts: one concerning the design of the I2L digital circuits and the second, which is also the most important, dedicated to the design and analysis of the analog circuits used in the D/A converter. The design of the analog circuits is discussed in details and all the desing techniques used are explainde carefully. The circuit was evaluated in bread-board form, using kit-parts and transistor arrays. The measured data show that the circuit has a good performance; it is expected than an integrated version of the circuit will have very good performance, meeting (or even exceeding) the specifications of the PCM D/A converter.<br>Doutorado<br>Doutor em Engenharia Elétrica

Cette recherche étudie la pratique du droit canonique médiéval, un secteur très déficientement cherché et peu valorisé actuellement, mais dont le corpus législatif a joué un des plus grands rôles régulateurs de l'histoire de l'Occident, conjointement avec le droit romain. Au le Portugal, dans le règne de D. Dinis (1279-1325), il se perçoit comme jamais avant un processus de formation de l'État moderne et affaiblissement de la théocratie papale laquelle culminera aux fins du siècle XV dans la constitution d'un gouvernement absolutiste qui soumettra à Église ainsi que celle-ci avait soumis aux rois dans la période précédente. Entre les principales actions législatives de ce monarque qui sont analysées sous le critère de l'obéissance ou de l'infraction au droit canonique sont des normes qui touchaient: le privilège du forum ecclésiastique, l'immunité fiscale, le patrimoine des églises et les monastères (en incluant dans ce cas la juridiction sur les testaments, le paiement du dîme, les abus de le patronat royale), l'autorité des évêques sur des ecclésiastiques, la famille des églises et la population, les juridictions diverses (droit d'asile dans les églises, les serments, l'institution d'un cérémonial pendant la fête de Pentecostes, l'appelée fête de l'Empire du Divin Saint-Esprit). Nous analysons encore les relations politiques entre la monarchie et le papauté, où nous cherchons enquêter la sujétion ou la contestation aux déterminations du Pontife. Les conclusions générales indiquent pour une politique de conciliation et de respect aux normes canoniques. Quand les infractions se sont produites ils ont été justifiés et basées dans l'autorité de deux types de lois: dans le droit consuétudinaire protégé par le fondement de l'ancienneté et dans les décrets impériaux romains et grecs qui étaient objet d'attraction de l'Église et de la monarchie.<br>Esta pesquisa estuda a prática do direito canônico medieval, uma área muito deficientemente pesquisada e pouco valorizada atualmente, mas cujo corpus legislativo desempenhou um dos maiores papéis reguladores da história do Ocidente, juntamente com o direito romano. Em Portugal, no reinado de D. Dinis (1279-1325), se percebe como nunca antes um processo de formação do Estado moderno e enfraquecimento do teocratismo papal que culminará nos fins do século XV na constituição de um governo absolutista que sujeitará a Igreja assim como ela havia sujeitado os reis no período anterior. Entre as principais ações legislativas desse monarca que são analisadas sob o critério da obediência ou infração ao direito canônico estão normas que afetavam: o privilégio do foro eclesiástico, a imunidade fiscal, o patrimônio das igrejas e mosteiros (abrangendo nesse caso a jurisdição sobre os testamentos, o pagamento do dízimo, os abusos do padroado régio), a autoridade dos bispos sobre clérigos, a família das igrejas e a população, jurisdições diversas (direito de refúgio nas igrejas, os juramentos, a instituição de um cerimonial durante a festa de Pentecostes, a chamada festa do Império do Divino Espírito Santo). Analisamos ainda as relações políticas entre a monarquia e o papado, em que buscamos averiguar a sujeição ou contestação às determinações do Pontífice. As conclusões gerais apontam para uma política de conciliação e de respeito às normas canônicas. Quando as infrações ocorreram foram justificadas e fundamentadas na autoridade de dois tipos de leis: no direito consuetudinário resguardado pelo princípio da antiguidade e nos decretos imperiais romanos e gregos que eram objeto de atração da Igreja e da monarquia.

The present study of Fatḥ al-Mannān bi-Tafsīr al-Qur'ān, is based on the writing of ʻĀkish, as well as on other books and documents. My study is divided into two sections, the one in Arabic and the other in English. The Arabic section consists of the actual text of ʻĀkish which comprises his introduction, his exegesis of al-Fatih'ah, al-Baqarah, Al 'Imran, and al-Nisa'; it also contains an Epilogue which is followed by Footnotes, Bibliography, Index and an Appendix, which contains photographs and letters. The English section consists of an introduction which indicates the importance of the manuscript and the difficulties that I faced during my analysis of the manuscript. Also included in this section is a biography of the author and his work, highlighting characteristics of his tafsir, enumerating errors and drawing a comparisons between him and his teacher al-Shawkani.

Cette interpretation conjointe des trois fragments d'heraclite (b 93, b 123, b 1) a comme pointe de depart le sens accorde a semainein dans b 93 : "produire des semata". Ce fragment affirme que le dieu oute kruptei, et b 123 que la phusis kruptesthai philei. Si les semata du dieu sont presents dans la phusis, celle-ci ne "se cache" pas elle-meme - comme le veut la traduction consacree -, mais plutot "garde en elle-meme" les signes envoyes par le dieu. - le rapport entre les trois fragments s'organise autour de la question pour l'activite propre (oikeion ergon) : au dieu (semainein, b 93), a la phusis (kruptesthai, b 123), a l'homme (legein, b 1). Le logos de b 1 est une metaphore lourde de consequences philosophiques : heraclite appelle le sema divin un "discours", c'est-a-dire qu'il le compare avec le langage humain commun et universel (xunos, koinos), comprehensible en principe par tous les hommes et present non seulement a delphes, mais dans toute la phusis. Purpose: Oral drug development had been hindered by the bioavailability issue
despite vast market popularity. Lipid excipients have shown to enhance
bioavailability of several reformulated hydrophobic oral drugs, yet the underlying
mechanisms of action by lipids are still unclear. One proposed mechanism is that
lipid could facilitate drug uptake by altering the activities of apical membrane
intestinal efflux transporters. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the effects of
specific monoglycerides on the efflux activity and protein expression of multidrug
resistance-associated protein 2 (MRP2) in vitro.
Methods: A preliminary study was first conducted to determine the effect of
Peceol®, a mono- and di-glyceride mixture, on MPR2 efflux activity. Then, the 24-
hour non-cytotoxic ranges of specific monoglycerides (1-monopalmitin, 1-
monostearin and 1-monoolein) were determined using MTS and LDH assays in
Caco-2 cells. Then, the effects of chosen monoglycerides on the functional
activity of MRP2 were assessed via rhodamine 123 (Rh123) accumulation and
estradiol 17 β-D-glucuronide(E₂17βG) bidirectional transport studies. The dose
responses of Rh123 accumulation with each monoglyceride treatment were also
determined. Lastly, Western blotting was used to probe the monoglycerides
effect on MRP2 protein expression.
Results: In the preliminary study, significant increase in Rh123 accumulation
and decrease in E₂17βG efflux ratio were observed in Peceol® treated cells. The
non-cytotoxic concentration ranges for 1-monopalmitin, 1-monostearin and 1-
monoolein were within 1 mM, 1 mM and 500 μM, respectively. Cells treated with
1 mM 1-monoplamitin, 1 mM 1-monostearin, 500 μM 1-monoolein and 50 μM
MK571 (a MRP2 inhibitor) resulted in significant increases in Rh123
accumulation and decreases in E₂17βG efflux ratio compared to the control
(medium treated only). The three monoglycerides did not show Rh123
accumulation in a dose-responsive manner. MRP2 protein expressions in 1-
monopalmitin and 1-monoolein treated cells were decreased by 19% and 35%,
respectively; however, there was no change of MRP2 protein expression in 1-
monostearin treated cells.
Conclusions: These findings suggested that 1-monoolein, 1-monostearin and 1-
monopalmitin could attenuate the activity of MRP2 and possibly other efflux
transporters in Caco-2 cells. The reduction of efflux activity of MRP2 by 1-
monoolein treatment could be partially explained by the non-specific down
regulation of MRP2 protein expression.

La surabondance de cervidés représente une nouvelle perturbation des écosystèmes forestiers qui interagit avec les perturbations préexistantes des forêts naturelles. Les interactions entre de multiples perturbations peuvent altérer les mécanismes de résilience des forêts et engendrer de nouvelles trajectoires successionnelles menant à des assemblages d’espèces n’ayant jamais coexisté historiquement. L’occurrence de tels nouveaux écosystèmes soulèverait des enjeux de conservation de la biodiversité et de maintien des services écosystémiques fournis par la forêt naturelle (c.-à-d. préindustrielle). Il devient donc important d’identifier d’éventuels mécanismes de perte de résilience qui pourraient empêcher la forêt naturelle de récupérer des interactions entre les perturbations préexistantes et celles occasionnées par les cervidés. L’île d’Anticosti qui abrite des cerfs de Virginie (Odocoileus virginianus) surabondant, donne l’occasion d’identifier de tels mécanismes. L’identification de mécanismes de perte de résilience nécessite d’abord de reconstituer la variabilité naturelle que la forêt préindustrielle devrait retrouver après perturbation, et de comprendre sa dynamique des perturbations naturelles. Le paysage naturel de l’île d’Anticosti était caractérisé par une matrice de sapinières surannées principalement dynamisées par des petites trouées et où les perturbations sévères générant de nouveaux peuplements ont été rares au cours des derniers ~160 ans. Le broutement préférentiel de la régénération par les cerfs a interrompu les processus de régénération des trouées des sapinières surannées de l’île d’Anticosti. La perte de ce mécanisme de résilience a engendré la dégradation du couvert et de nouvelles trajectoires successionnelles menant à des pessières blanches et des forêts-parcs d’épinettes blanches. La coupe totale historique (1910-1915) des sapinières surannées a formé des pessières blanches de seconde venue maintenant matures. Nous avons démontré que l’interaction entre le broutement préférentiel de la régénération par le cerf et la coupe totale de ces pessières blanches altère les processus de régénération des forêts et engendre une trajectoire successionnelle menant à la formation de forêts-parcs d’épinettes blanches. Un plan d’aménagement vise actuellement la restauration de l’habitat du cerf sur l’île (c.-à-d. les sapinières). Lors d’une éventuelle révision de ce plan, les aménagistes devraient considérer trois enjeux importants de l’aménagement écosystémique, soit le maintien de sapinières surannées, l’occurrence de pessières blanches en tant que nouvel écosystème et le maintien de l’état forestier.<br>Overabundance of cervids represents a new disturbance of forest ecosystems which interacts with preexisting disturbances of natural forests. Interactions between multiple disturbances can alter resilience mechanisms, thereby triggering alternative successional pathways that move the system toward assemblages of species that have not co-occurred historically. The occurrence of such novel ecosystems would raise issues concerning conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services that are provided by natural (i.e., preindustrial) forests. Hence, it is important to identify eventual mechanisms of resilience loss which could prevent natural forests recovery from interactions between pre-existing disturbances and disturbances caused by cervids. Anticosti Island which shelters overabundant white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), provides an opportunity to identify such mechanisms. To identify mechanisms of resilience loss, it was first necessary to describe the variability which the natural forest should recover after disturbances and to understand its disturbance dynamics. The natural landscape of Anticosti Island was characterized by a forest matrix of overmature gap-driven balsam fir stands in which severe stand-initiating disturbances were rare over the last ~160 years. Preferential browsing by deer has disrupted regeneration processes of gap-driven balsam fir stands on Anticosti Island. The loss of this resilience mechanism triggered forest degradation and alternative successional pathways toward white spruce stands and parklands. The historic clear-cutting (1910-1915) of overmature balsam fir stands has formed mature second-growth white spruce stands. We have shown that interactions between preferential deer browsing and clear-cutting of these white spruce stands have altered regeneration processes and triggered an alternative successional pathway toward the formation of parklands. A management plan aims to restore deer habitat on the island (i.e., balsam fir stands). In the eventual revision of this plan, managers should consider three important ecosystem management issues: the maintenance of overmature balsam fir stands, the occurrence of white spruce stands as a novel ecosystem, and the maintenance of the forest state.

Les objectifs de ce projet étaient d'évaluer les effets de différents traitements sylvicoles sur l'établissement de la régénération naturelle en sapin baumier {Abies balsamea (L.) Mill.) qui est la cible d'un broutement intense de la part du cerf de Virginie (Odocoileus virginianus Zimmermann). Nos résultats montrent que l'utilisation de la coupe progressive d'ensemencement, de la coupe à blanc par bandes avec scarifiage et de la coupe avec réserve d'îlots semenciers avec scarifiage n'a pas permis l'établissement d'une banque suffisante de semis de sapin non broutés capable de succéder aux peuplements actuels. Toutefois, la coupe par bandes et la coupe avec réserve d'îlots semenciers, chacune jumelée avec une préparation de terrain, ont stimulé l'établissement du bouleau à papier (Betala papyrifera Marsh.), mais le broutement du cerf a prohibé sa croissance en hauteur, tout comme celle du sapin. Aucun de ces traitements sylvicoles n'apparaît donc approprié pour reconstituer les sapinières de l'île d'Anticosti en présence de densités de cerf aussi élevées.

Tous ces événements sont aujourd'hui de graves problèmes de santé publique. Mais actuellement, il n'existe pas d'outil simple pour mesurer la résistance à l'insuline. La technique de référence reste le clamp euglycémique hyperinsulinémique. Cependant, la complexité et la longueur de cette technique la rendent impropre à l'utilisation clinique de routine. De nombreuses méthodes ou l'index ont été proposées pour évaluer la résistance à l'insuline chez l'homme, mais aucune n'a montré suffisamment de pertinences pour être utilisée dans un usage clinique. L'équipe de unité INSERM U1039 a validé un nouveau traceur du transport du glucose radiomarqué avec de l'iode 123 et a élaboré un protocole d'imagerie rapide et simple avec une petite gamma-caméra animale, qui permet l'obtention d'un indexe de résistance à l'insuline pour chaque organe, se montrant encore plus discriminant pour le cœur. Le projet de ma thèse était de transférer à l'humain cette technique de mesure, parfaitement validé chez l'animal. La première partie de cette thèse évaluait la tolérance, la cinétique in vivo, la biodistribution et de la dosimétrie de ce nouveau traceur du transport du glucose, le [123I] - 6DIG. La sécurité du nouveau traceur et de la technique de mesure était adéquate. Il n'y a pas eu d'effets indésirables avec une excellente tolérance de l'ensemble du protocole. L'élimination du 6DIG est rapide, principalement dans les urines et complète dans les 72h. La dose efficace pour un scan complet avec injection de 92,5 × 2 MBq était de 3 à 4 mSv. La deuxième partie de cette thèse évaluait chez l'homme la faisabilité et la reproductibilité de la technique de mesure validée chez l'animal. La troisième partie montre les techniques utilisées pour permettre le transfert à l'homme de cette méthode. Le protocole d'étude a été appliqué sur 12 sujets (volontaires sains (n = 6) et 2 patients diabétiques de type (n = 6)). All these events are today serious public health problems. But actually, there is no simple tool to measure insulin resistance. The gold standard technique remains the hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp. However, the complexity and length of this technique render it unsuitable for routine clinical use. Many methods or index have been proposed to assess insulin resistance in human, but none have shown enough relevance to be used in clinical use. The U1039 INSERM unit previously has validated a new tracer of glucose transport, radiolabelled with123 iodine and has developed a fast and simple imaging protocol with a small animal gamma camera, which allows the obtaining of an IR index for each organ, showing more discriminating for the heart. The project of my thesis was the human transfer of this measurement technique, perfectly validated in animal. The first part of this thesis evaluated to tolerance, in vivo kinetics, distribution and dosimetry of novel tracer of glucose transport, the [123I]-6DIG. The safeties of new tracer and measurement technique were adequate. There were no adverse effects with excellent tolerance of the whole protocol. 6DIG eliminating was fast, primarily in the urine and complete within 72h. The effective whole-body absorbed dose for a complete scan with injection of 92.5 × 2 MBq was between 3 to 4 mSv. The second part of this thesis evaluated in human feasibility and reproducibility of the measurement technique validated in animal. The third part showed techniques used to allow human transfer of this method. The study protocol was applied on 12 subjects (healthy volunteers (n=6) and type 2 diabetic patients (n=6)). With a method adapted to measure in humans, we determined an IR index to discriminate resistant population of a sensitive population to insulin. We report the first clinical use of 6DIG and describe an original method of imaging to assess myocardial glucose transport. Die Cyclin-abhängigen Kinasen 4 und 6 (Cdk4/6) wurden als essentielle Enzyme für die Regulation des Zellzyklus mit kritischem Beitrag zur gestörten Zellproliferation während der Kanzerogenese identifiziert. Als Konsequenz davon erwiesen sich die Cdk4/6 als attraktive Zielproteine für die Entwicklung neuer therapeutischer Konzepte zur pharmakologischen Tumorbehandlung. Verbindungen aus der Substanzklasse der Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine zeigten vielversprechende inhibitorische Wirkungen auf die Aktivität der Cdk4/6 bei gleichzeitiger herausragender Selektivität gegenüber anderen Cdk. Anschließende Untersuchungen in vitro und in vivo verdeutlichten das Potential einiger Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidine zur Inhibierung des Tumorzellwachstums. Die Weiterentwicklung und Nutzung selektiver Cdk4/6-Inhibitoren zur funktionellen Charakterisierung der Cdk4/6 in Tumoren in vivo mit Hilfe der nicht-invasiven Bildgebungstechnik Positronen-Emissions-Tomographie (PET) ist ein neuer vielversprechender Forschungsansatz und von großem Interesse für die Evaluierung neuer Strategien zur Diagnose und Therapie maligner Erkrankungen.
Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die biochemische und radiopharmakologische Charakterisierung neuer potentieller Cdk4/6-Inhibitoren aus der Verbindungsklasse der Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine und deren Bewertung hinsichtlich ihrer therapeutischen Wirksamkeit zur gezielten Cdk4/6-Inhibierung in ausgewählten Tumorzelllinien sowie ihres Potentials zur funktionellen Bildgebung der Cdk4/6 in Tumoren mittels PET am Tiermodell.
Die biochemische Charakterisierung der Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidine CKIA, CKIB, CKIC, CKID und CKIE hinsichtlich ihrer zellulären und molekularen Wirkung erfolgte in den kontinuierlich proliferierenden humanen Tumorzelllinien HT-29, FaDu und THP 1 und in differenzierten THP-1-Makrophagen. Die Zweckmäßigkeit der untersuchten Zelllinien zur Charakterisierung potentieller Cdk4/6-Inhibitoren wurde anhand von Studien zur mRNA-Expression und Proteinbiosynthese der Kinasen Cdk4/6 nachgewiesen. Des Weiteren wurde das Vorkommen der Cdk4/6 in den humanen Xenograft-Tumoren HT-29 und FaDu, sowie in ausgewählten Organen und Geweben von nu/nu-NMRI-Mäusen charakterisiert.
In vitro wurden für alle untersuchten Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine signifikante, konzentrations- und zeitabhängige inhibitorische Effekte auf die Tumorzellproliferation beobachtet. Durchflusszytometrische Zellzyklusanalysen 24 Stunden nach Inkubation mit den Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidinen zeigten eine konzentrationsabhängige Zunahme des Anteils der HT-29-, FaDu- und THP-1-Zellen in der G1-Phase bis auf 90%. Für die nicht-proliferierenden THP 1-Makrophagen wurden bei Inkubation mit den Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidinen geringe Veränderungen ihrer Zellzahl und Zellzyklusphasen-verteilung detektiert. Die zellulären Studien identifizierten deutliche qualitative und quantitative Unterschiede der untersuchten Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidin-Derivate. Nanomolare Konzentrationen von CKIA, CKIB bzw. CKIE erzielten bereits 24 Stunden nach Inkubation deutliche Effekte, während für CKIC und CKID die 10- bis 100-fache Konzentration eingesetzt werden musste, um eine ähnliche Wirkung zu erhalten. Die molekularen Ursachen der Wachstumshemmung und des Zellzyklusarrests wurden durch Untersuchungen zur Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidin-abhängigen Beeinflussung des Cdk4/6-Cyclin D-Retinoblastom-E2F-Signalwegs geklärt. In allen Zelllinien wurde eine deutliche Inhibierung der Cdk4/6-spezifischen Phosphorylierung der Aminosäure Serin-780 des Retinoblastom-Proteins (pRb) beobachtet. Als Konsequenz dieser Inhibierung wurde für CKIA, CKIB und CKIE die signifikante konzentrationsabhängige Unterbrechung der Genexpression von E2F-1 und PCNA nachgewiesen.
Die Radiomarkierung der Cdk4/6-Inhibitoren CKIA und CKIB mit 124I bzw. von CKIE mit 18F ermöglichte erstmals die Charakterisierung von in vivo-Interaktionen und des Metabolismus im Blut zirkulierender Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidin-Derivate. Die radiopharmako-logischen Eigenschaften von [124I]CKIA, [124I]CKIB und [18F]CKIE wurden in Untersuchungen zur zellulären Radiotracer-Aufnahme, der metabolischen Stabilität und der Bioverteilung bei Ratten sowie abschließend in Kleintier-PET-Untersuchungen bei FaDu-Tumor-tragenden nu/nu-NMRI-Mäusen analysiert.
In vitro-Experimente mit [124I]CKIA, [124I]CKIB und [18F]CKIE verdeutlichten eine hohe Stabilität und schnelle Aufnahme der Radiotracer in humane Tumorzellen bei 37°C. Allerdings deutet die Zelltyp-unabhängige Anreicherung auf eine geringe Abhängigkeit der Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidin-Akkumulation vom Cdk4/6-Status der Zellen hin. Die signifikant geringeren Aufnahmewerte aller untersuchten Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine bei 4°C und die Blockierung der Aufnahme von [18F]CKIE mit nichtradioaktivem CKIE unterstützen die Vermutung spezifischer Transportmechanismen für die Aufnahme der Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidine.
Untersuchungen von [124I]CKIA, [124I]CKIB und [18F]CKIE in vivo identifizierten eine schnelle, innerhalb weniger Minuten stattfindende Eliminierung aus dem Blut und die primäre Aufnahme in die Leber als grundlegende Stoffwechseleigenschaft aller drei Radiotracer. Aus den PET-Untersuchungen mit [124I]CKIA und [124I]CKIB bei FaDu-Tumor-tragenden Mäusen wurden nur marginale Anreicherungen der radioaktiven Substanzen im Bereich des Tumors festgestellt. Für [18F]CKIE wurde eine Akkumulation im proliferierenden Randbereich des Tumors beobachtet. Die schnelle Metabolisierung von [18F]CKIE im Blut sowie das konstante, geringe Verhältnis der Aktivität im Tumor zur Aktivität im Skelettmuskel wiesen allerdings auf eine unspezifische Anreicherung hin.
Schlussfolgernd aus den Ergebnissen der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde die Effektivität der Pyrido[2,3 d]pyrimidine CKIA, CKIB und CKIE hinsichtlich der Inhibierung der Cdk4/6-vermittelten Zellzyklusprogression gezeigt. Die antiproliferative Aktivität der Substanzen unterstützt eine weiterführende Evaluierung dieser Cdk4/6-Inhibitoren zur pharmakologischen Tumortherapie.
Auf der Basis der erhaltenen radiopharmakologischen Ergebnisse werden die kurze biologische Halbwertszeit und unspezifische Tumoranreicherung von [124I]CKIA, [124I]CKIB und [18F]CKIE als limitierende Faktoren für die Eignung dieser Verbindungen als Radiotracer zur nicht-invasiven Bildgebung der Cdk4/6 im Zielgewebe mittels PET angesehen. Es bleibt zu klären, ob eine längere Verweildauer und höhere Stabilität radiomarkierter Pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine im Blut die Chance der Cdk4/6-spezifischen Gewebeanreicherung erhöhen oder Transport-mechanistische Effekte allein ausschlaggebend für die Anreicherung in Zellen und Geweben sind.
Die Untersuchung optimierter Cdk4/6-selektiver Inhibitoren für die Charakterisierung und Therapie von Tumoren bleibt weiterhin ein interessanter Aspekt in der Tumorforschung.

Coupled with the issue of promoting energy efficiency in South Africa is the need to focus on the source of energy production. The country's excessive burning of coal resources has been linked to the global warming crisis.
To address this energy crisis, taxpayers can be encouraged to play an important role in moving the country towards a position of energy stability by conserving energy or decreasing their energy consumption, or contributing towards the research and development of energy-efficient processes as well as cleaner forms of energy.
This study analyses the energy-related tax incentives that are currently legislated and available to South African taxpayers and discusses the feasibility of taking advantage of these incentives. The study may provide guidance to taxpayers that have decided to invest in renewable energy sources and will discuss some of the advantages and perceived challenges facing the renewable energy industry.
This study also provides a worked example that illustrates a detailed calculation of the energy tax saving incentive set out in section 12L of the Income Tax Act, No. 58 of 1962.
A case study guides taxpayers though the practical process of applying for and calculating their energy-saving tax deduction. This Master’s thesis solves a design and construction of device for gathering and transfer of data into computer. The device should replace graph plotter, by which is measured the optical intensity of a laser beam. From this characteristic it is possible to determine other parameters of the laser beam, such as halfwidth of the beam, angle of divergence and Rayleigh length. The described device - “data gatherer” - measures two voltage values – voltage detected on photodiode and voltage detected on distance moved by photodiode. Measured values of voltage are processed and sent through a serial line into the computer. A pre-amplifier is connected to the control part for both channels of measured values with possibility of amplification. Computer application, which performs graphic interpretation of the measured values, serves as user control peripheral. The product of this project is compact device operating under OS Windows with graphic output.

Research studies indicate that up to 58% of the world adult population will be overweight or obese by 2030 [1]. Obesity is not only related to food intake, but factors such as lifestyle and genetic background contribute to its onset [3–5]. This disease [2] is commonly associated with vitamin D (Vit. D) deficiency [6,7], and genetic associations have been identified to explain this link [8]; however, differences in dietary intake, sun exposure, or Vit. D metabolism are also involved [9]. Moreover, along with Vit. D deficiency, lipids, and particularly sphingolipids (SLs) as ceramides (Cers) and sphingomyelins (SMs) have been described as involved, not only in increasing inflammation [10,11], but also in the development of cardiovascular disease and type two diabetes [12–14], two common conditions observed in obese subjects. Given the pivotal role of SLs in obesity associated co-morbidities and the association of Vit. D, dyslipidemia and obesity, our study was aimed at profiling circulating SLs in human subjects under these conditions, in order to provide hints for the identification of new biomarkers to be introduced in clinical settings.
To define human SLs profile in obesity, dyslipidemia, and Vit. D associated deficiency, sera from 23 normal-weight normolipidemic (NWNL), 46 normal-weight, dyslipidemic, Vit. D deficient (NWDL) and 60 obese dyslipidemic, Vit. D deficient (ODL) Saudi Arabian subjects were analyzed with a dual approach, characterized by the use of two complementary techniques: the HPTLC-Primuline profiling and the LC-MS analysis. Furthermore, to define SLs profiles in the context of human adaptation to high altitude hypoxia, sera from 59 Vit. D deficient dyslipidemic children living at high altitude were analyzed by LC-MS. Children were grouped based on their BMI percentiles in 7 underweight (UW), 30 normal-weight (NW), 13 overweight (OW) and 9 obese (O).
SLs profile analysis of NWNL and ODL Saudi Arabian subjects displayed differences in total Cer and total SM caused by dyslipidemia and vitamin D deficiency, whereas specific Cers, and SMs acyl chains characterize obese subjects, only. Gender differences were found in SLs profiles independently from dyslipidemia and Vit. D status. Obesity-associated Cers, SMs, and dihydrosphingomyelins (dhSMs) specific acyl chains were identified in the NWDL vs. ODL comparison independently from dyslipidemia and Vit D status, and are thought to be drivers of increased risk of developing obesity-associated morbidities.
The analysis of SLs profiles from dyslipidemic children with Vit. D deficiency allowed to confirm the results of Saudi Arabian subjects regarding SLs association with dyslipidemia and associated Vit. D deficiency. Furthermore, SLs profile analysis led to the identification of a characteristic SLs portraits associated with BMI and related to hypoxia metabolic adaptation.

Jurisprudence is one of the most important subjects of Islamic Studies because it is the means of deducing religious categorisation of human acts and of deducing the rules which regulate human affairs in a just manner. This study attempts to define the nature of Islamic jurisprudence and its historical development as a discipline through the first seven centuries of the Islamic era and somewhat beyond; to produce a critical edition and to study one of the fundamental texts of Islamic jurisprudence: Bad' al-Nim al-Jmi' Bayna Kitbay al Bazdaw wa al-Ikm. This work is of great importance on account of its unifying influence but its text has never received a critical edition or publication. This thesis consists of two volumes, Volume One is written in English and is divided into three parts. Part One is confined to the history of Islamic jurisprudence from the inception of Islam, through the various stages of development and until the end of the seventh century al-Hijra (1300 AD). Part Two concerns itself with the development of Islamic jurisprudence where the main focus is to present a reasonably clear picture of the various processes that practitioners in the field of Islamic jurisprudence have followed in order to derive (new) rules. A pancreatite crônica alcoólica (PCA) tem o álcool como seu principal fator etiológico, a relação entre ingestão de álcool e estado nutricional é complexa e as características nutricionais dos portadores de PCA são pouco conhecidas. Neste trabalho, foram avaliados três grupos de pacientes do sexo masculino, o primeiro (A) com 20 pacientes com PCA, o segundo (B) com 12 etlistas crônicos não pancreatopatas e não hepatopatas e o terceiro (C) com 16 indivíduos não etlistas, não pancreatopatas e não hepatopatas. Para analisar os três grupos utilizaram-se a avaliação antropométrica, a quantificação da ingestão alcoólica, quando existente, o inquérito dietético obtido por Recordatório de 24 horas, a composição corpórea, obtida por bioimpedância elétrica, exames séricos relacionados à avaliação hepática e pancreática, dosagem de vitaminas e de sais minerais, além de marcadores inflamatórios, como proteína C reativa, seroamiloide A e leptina, além de exames de imagem, como ultrassonografia abdominal e/ou tomografia computadorizada de abdômen. A PCA (Grupo A) não se associou à queda da ingestão dietética, porém houve redução da massa magra, evidenciando desnutrição protéica; os etilistas sem pancreatite (Grupo B) apresentaram menor massa magra em relação aos pacientes do grupo C e foi possível demonstrar que a composição corpórea e o perfil inflamatório são distintos e relevantes, não apenas na PCA (Grupo A), mas também nos etilistas sem lesão pancreática (Grupo B), que também devem ser melhor estudados e acompanhados ao longo do seu curso clínico. Em síntese, encontraram-se evidências de subnutrição e aberrações metabólicas tanto nos casos de alcoolismo com lesão pancreática quanto nos etilistas aparentemente sem lesão pancreática ou hepática. Achado até o momento não relatado pela literatura<br>Alcoholic pancreatitis has alcohol as the primary etiologic factor. The relationship between alcohol intake and nutritional status is complex and the nutritional characteristics of patients with this disease are unknown. In this study, we evaluated three groups of male patients, one (A) with 20 patients with alcoholic pancreatitis, another (B) with 12 alcoholics without pancreatic or liver disease and the last (C) with 16 non - alcoholics , free from any systemic disease or organ insufficiency. To analyze the three groups, we used anthropometric assessment, quantification of alcohol intake, dietary recall, body composition estimated by bioimpedance analysis, biochemical tests related to liver and pancreatic function, dosage of vitamins and minerals, inflammatory markers namely C-reactive protein, leptin and serum amyloid A, in addition to imaging studies such as abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography of the abdomen whenever required. Group A was not associated with decrease in food intake, but there was a reduction in lean body mass, indicating undernutrition. Alcoholics without pancreatitis (group B) also showed lower lean mass compared to patients in group C, demonstring that changes in body composition and inflammatory status are distinct and relevant also in alcoholics without pancreatic injury (Group B). They should be better studied and monitored throughout their clinical course. In synthesis evidence of undernutrition and metabolic aberrations were demonstrated in both alcoholism with pancreatic damage and in nominally healthy alcoholics, a finding not hitherto reported in the literature

In the last 30 years there has been growing interest in and a greater appreciation of the unique contributions that medieval authors have made to the history of logic. In this thesis, we compare and contrast the modal logics of Robert Kilwardby and John Buridan and explore how their two conceptions of modality relate to and differ from modern notions of modal logic. We develop formal reconstructions of both authors' logics, making use of a number of different formal techniques. In the case of Robert Kilwardby we show that using his distinction between per se and per accidens modalities, he is able to provide a consistent interpretation of the apodictic fragment of Aristotle's modal syllogism and that, by generalising this distinction to hypothetical construction, he can develop an account of connexive logic. In the case of John Buridan we show that his modal logic is a natural extension of the usual Kripke-style possible worlds semantics, and that this modal logic can be shown to be sound and complete relative to a proof-theoretic formalisation of Buridan's treatment of the expository syllogism.

L’identificazione della fusicoccina come metabolita responsabile degli effetti tossici di Phomopsis amygdali, dovuti alla sua capacità di attivare irreversibilmente l’H+-ATPasi di plasmalemma, ha dato impulso al chiarimento del meccanismo molecolare di azione della tossina. L’H+-ATPasi di plasmalemma è, ad oggi, l’unico bersaglio dell’azione della FC individuato. La mancata identificazione di siti di legame per la FC in batteri, lieviti, funghi e animali ha fatto ritenere che l’azione della tossina fosse quindi ristretta al regno vegetale. In questo lavoro è dimostrata la capacità della fitotossina di influenzare il processo di aggregazione piastrinica. In particolare, da un’analisi, condotta nel nostro laboratorio è stata identificato il recettore piastrinico GPIb-IX-V come possibile bersaglio dell’azione della fusicoccina. Infatti, la tossina è in grado di promuovere il legame delle proteine regolatrici 14-3-3 alla glicoproteina Ibα e di inibire l’associazione con la subunità Ibβ. Da ciò ne risulta la stimolazione dell’adesione piastrinica al fattore di von Willebrand che determina la diffusione piastrinica e l’attivazione delle integrine αIIbβ3. Tali risultati incoraggiano il proseguimento degli studi volti a stabilire se la fusicoccina possa essere utilizzata nella terapia o nella diagnosi di patologie associate alla coagulazione del sangue. Inoltre, questo lavoro pone le basi ad una futura ricerca volta a determinare la possibile applicazione della tossina ad altri complessi 14-3-3/target.
Inoltre, la disponibilità di un gran numero di derivati e analoghi della fusicoccina ha reso possibile un’analisi dettagliata della correlazione tra attività e struttura chimica. A tale scopo, è stata saggiata l’attività di questi composti correlati alla fusicoccina in saggi sia in vivo che in vitro.<br>The fungal toxin fusicoccin induces plant wilting by affecting ion transport across the plasma membrane of plant cell. The activity of this toxin is so far unknown in humans. In this work, we show that fusicoccin is able to affect the platelet aggregation process.
The toxin associates to platelet intracellular binding sites and induces aggregation in platelet-rich plasma in a dose-dependent manner. We identified the adhesion receptor glycoprotein Ib-IX-V as fusicoccin target. The toxin promotes the binding of the regulatory 14-3-3 proteins to glycoprotein Ibα and hampers that to glycoprotein Ibβ subunit. As a result, platelet adhesion to von Willebrand Factor is stimulated, leading to platelet spreading and integrin αIIbβ3 activation.
We anticipate our study to be a starting point for future therapeutic use of fusicoccin in genetic bleeding diseases characterized by qualitative or quantitative abnormalities of the platelet membrane adhesion receptors. Furthermore, we demonstrated that fusicoccin action can be widen also to other 14-3-3 clients, provided that a mode III motif with an appropriate C terminal amino acid is present. Results obtained suggest also the rationale for fusicoccin inability to promote 14-3-3 binding to targets with a mode I consensus sequence.
In addition, the availability of a large number of fusicoccin derivatives and analogues made possible a detailed analysis of the relationship between activity and chemical structure. The activity of these fusicoccin-related compounds has been tested either in vivo and in vitro.

Although Robert Schumann’s late style has been the subject of several probing studies in
recent years, few scholars have concentrated their attention on the chamber works composed in
the autumn of 1851. Perhaps most intriguing are the opp. 105 and 121 violin sonatas, whose first
movements suggest a dialogue with the eighteenth-century sonata form by preserving many of the
same rhetorical and structural elements. Throughout both movements, however, Schumann uses
an intricate web of tonal ambiguities, metrical dissonances, and unusual key relationships to
recast the internal workings of these outwardly conventional sonata forms. As he uses these
techniques to undermine important structural moments of each movement, Schumann
significantly changes the overall plot of the eighteenth-century sonata form, while also
demonstrating his sensitivity to the dramatic possibilities of this historical form in the middle of the nineteenth century. By discussing Schumann’s dialogue with the eighteenth-century sonata form throughout the opp. 105 and 121 violin sonatas, this study attempts to situate these works within both their historical and contemporary musical contexts, and thus considers a previously unexplored avenue toward rehabilitating the reception of Schumann’s late chamber works.<br>School of Music

La tesi di ricerca approfondisce il tema del riuso di prodotti e componenti edilizi quale strategia circolare e sostenibile per la gestione del costruito. Essa muove dalla duplice potenzialità che tale processo presenta attraverso la conservazione delle risorse materiali, limitando gli impatti dettati dalla produzione di rifiuti da costruzione e demolizione, nonché preservando, attraverso la conservazione formale e funzionale dell’elemento nella sua integrità, la cultura materiale che lo ha prodotto.
Partendo dal quadro teorico e dello stato dell’arte, la tesi si struttura attraverso quattro linee di indagine parallele e complementari, mirate a restituire la
complessità del tema secondo una visione quanto più possibile trasversale. La prima definisce il contributo dei processi di riuso a una sostenibilità intesa non solo in ottica ambientale, ma anche sociale, culturale ed economica. La seconda esamina il valore conferito alla pratiche di reimpiego da parte dei progettisti contemporanei, evidenziando come essi vi individuino un significato culturale, al quale si associano ragioni di matrice ambientale, etico-sociale o di potenzialità espressiva. La terza linea di indagine approfondisce le incongruenze e lacune della cornice normativa europea relativa al tema, individuando le ricadute di questo quadro sulle problematiche pregresse del settore. La quarta esamina la potenziale applicazione di questa strategia a scala urbana, definendo il Reuse Design Project quale “processo progettuale che, a partire dalla formulazione del concept di un nuovo edificio fino alla sua costruzione, prevede, studia e compie l’integrazione nello stesso di prodotti e componenti edilizi, derivanti da altre costruzioni, che il progettista individua e ritiene adeguati al progetto”.
Gli esiti della ricerca consentono di determinare l’idoneità del riuso di prodotti e componenti edilizi quale strumento sostenibile per la gestione del costruito
esistente, promuovendo la potenziale diffusione futura di tale approccio. Oltre a identificare suggerimenti e azioni da intraprendere in ambito normativo per
favorire il reimpiego, la tesi propone degli strumenti operativi volti a massimizzare l’efficiacia del Reuse Design Project. L’applicazione di tali strumenti, simulata su di un caso studio reale, consente non solo di esaminarne gli esiti in termini di processo progettuale, ma anche di confrontarli con quelli di uno scenario convenzionale sotto il profilo della fattibilità tecnico-economica e degli impatti incorporati.
L’analisi dei risultati ottenuti evidenzia i caratteri innovativi propri dell’approccio progettuale volto al riuso di elementi edilizi, delle figure professionali coinvolte
e della gestione del processo di decostruzione, nonché la formazione di tipo culturale necessaria per promuovere questa strategia nella pratica di architettura.

L’abbaye de La Ferté-sur-Grosne fut fondée en 1113 par le moine Philibert. Dès sa fondation, les petits aristocrates des environs cherchèrent à obtenir l’amitié des moines de l’institution-fille cistercienne, alors que les moines cherchèrent justement à ériger leur domaine foncier. Cette situation résulta naturellement en la rapide conclusion d’échanges entre les deux parties. D’un côté, les aristocrates donnaient des terres aux moines. De l’autre, les moines priaient pour la rémission des âmes des donateurs. Les moines de La Ferté mirent par écrit le récit de la plupart de ces échanges. Les historiens qui se sont jusqu’à aujourd’hui penchés sur ces documents leur ont conféré un rôle pragmatique, ou une fonction juridique et mémorielle faisant de l’écrit une protection contre les revendications laïques. Or, l’écrit est une production sociale. Il convient donc d’aborder un acte non seulement en analysant son texte, mais en s’attardant à ses méthodes de production et de conservation. Ce mémoire se propose d’étudier la production documentaire de La Ferté sous ces angles. Il analyse l’ensemble des actes qui y ont été rédigés entre 1112 et1199.<br>The abbey of La Ferté-sur-Grosne was built in the year 1113. As soon as it was founded, laymen from the neighboring lands seeked the monks’ friendship, whereas monks, as it happened, desired to start erecting their domain. This naturally resulted in exchanges between the two parties. On the one hand, the petty aristocracy gave lands to the monks. On the other hand, the monks offered the laymen prayers that would save their souls. The monks of La Ferté decided to write down most of the stories of how these exchanges came to be made. As of today, historians studied only the texts of those documents, which led them to grant to the written word at the abbey of La Ferté a mostly practical role, associating the action to write to a judicial or memorial purpose meant to protect the acquisition of a land against laymen’s claims. Yet, one needs not only study the contents of such texts. This paper suggests that such documents be studied from the point of view of their production and their preservation. It will study all of the documents produced between 1112 and 1199.
