Abstract:
Summary The chemical characterization of the pulp, peel and seeds of cocona (Solanum sessiliflorum Dunal) was determined. In artisanal fruit processing, 26.3% of peel and 9.7% of seeds were obtained. The seeds showed a high potential for the development of value-added products because of their dry matter contents (23.46%) as follows: carbohydrate (69.37% dry basis (d.b.)), nitrogen (3.18 g/100 g of seed d.b.), K (0.023 g/100 g of seed d.b.), Fe (0.0185 g/100 g of seed d.b.) and dietary fiber (21.27 g/100 g of seed d.b.). The carbohydrate, dietary fibre and mineral contents of the pulp, peel and seeds also highlighted the agroindustrial potential of the fruit in that these constituents could be used to develop functional foods, food additives, preparations for functional diets and dietary supplements.

Abstract:
AbstractEffects of additions of buckwheat flour and sourdough on the total phenols content, antioxidant activity, and sensory properties of crackers were examined. Different mixtures of wheat flour with addition of buckwheat flour and sourdough were used for the prepartion of crackers. Two types of lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus brevis) were used for the preparation of buckwheat sourdough. Properties of crackers made with addition of buckwheat flour and sourdough were analysed in comparison to control crackers made only with wheat flour. Significant increase of total phenols in comparison to wheat flour dough (0.73 mg gallic acid equivalent (GA)/g of dry basis (d.b.)) was accomplished by adding buckwheat flour (1.12 mg GA/g d.b.) and sourdough (1.77 and 1.79 mg GA/g d.b.) regardless of the type of lactic acid bacteries used. All samples showed the decrease in total phenol content during baking process. Crackers with sourdough had higher antioxidant activity (16.84 and 15.84 mmol Fe3+/g d.b.) compared to crackers made with addition of buckwheat flour (10.42 mmol Fe3+/g d.b.) and control sample (7.76 mmol Fe3+/g d.b.). The result of sensory analysis showed positive influence of sourdough on taste and texture of crackers and insignificant differences in odour and appearance of tested samples. Also, the chewiness of crackers made with the addition of buckwheat flour and sourdough was improved compared to control crackers made from wheat flour.

Abstract:
Designing the equipment for processing, sorting and sizing of agricultural crops requires information about the crops&rsquo; physical properties. The physical properties of kokum seed were evaluated as a function of moisture content in the range of 7.35 to 25.79% d.b. (dry basis). The average length, width, thickness and one thousand seed mass were 17.17&nbsp;mm, 10.66 mm, 5.87 mm and 410 g, respectively, at a moisture content of 7.35% d.b. The average value of geometric mean diameter and sphericity were 10.19 mm and 59.75%, respectively, at moisture content of 7.35% d.b. As the moisture content increased from 7.35 to 25.79% d.b., the bulk density increased from 345 to 396 kg/m<sup>3</sup>, true density decreased from 1179 to 1070 kg/m<sup>3</sup>, and the corresponding porosity decreased from 65.73 to 55.46%; the repose angle and terminal velocity increased from 32.1 to 42.3&deg; and 4.30 to 6.73 m/s,respectively. The static coefficient of friction increased on three structural surfaces namely, glass (0.59&ndash;0.73), stainless steel (0.81&ndash;0.87) and plywood (0.74&ndash;0.83) in the moisture range from 7.35 to 25.79% d.b. Linear regression equations were used to express the physical properties of kokum seeds as a function of moisture content. &nbsp;

ABSTRACT Mango peel, a by-product of the mango pulp industry, is rich in nutrients but with high moisture content. Drying is indicated to stabilize the residue and use of a drum-dryer is a little studied alternative. The present study evaluated the application of this technology for mango peels, investigating the influence of process conditions. The potential of mango peels from Palmer, Haden, Keitt, and Espada Vermelha varieties was also assessed using physicochemical analyses. The results showed differences between the varieties: Palmer exhibited the lowest moisture content (73.97 g per 100 g); Keitt the highest reducing sugar content (25.06 g per 100 g d.b.); Haden the highest soluble dietary fiber content (20.85 g per 100 g d.b.); and Espada Vermelha the highest phenolic compound content (5462 mg GAE per 100 g d.b.). Palmer mango peels were dried, varying temperature (130.6/146.4 ºC) and residence time (14/28 s). The independent variables influenced mass flow rate, moisture content, and color parameter a*. The antioxidant capacity, phenolic compounds and total carotenoid content, in addition to other color parameters, were not affected. The best process conditions were determined at 138.4-146.4 ºC and 14-21 s. The flakes exhibited phenolic compound contents of 3200 mg GAE per 100 g d.b., and antioxidant capacity of 360 µmol TE g-1 d.b. The product can be used as an ingredient in food formulations.

Abstract:
Gaziantep pita, one of the regional flat breads in Turkey, had the geographical sign registration certificate in 2017. Gaziantep pita quality is directly related to flour properties. In present study, physico-chemical and flourgraph properties of bread flour containing 0.550% and 0.650% ash content (d.b.) were investigated. Results showed that the moisture contents of both samples were not significantly different from each other and were under upper limit of 14.5%. Sedimentation values for 0.550% and 0.650% ash content (db.) of flours were found good, between 25-36 mL. Wet gluten contents of both flours were determined as medium, between 20-27%. The falling number values for the samples were higher than normal values. The extensibility values were in normal values for both flour samples. The resistance to extension values for both samples were low, although these values were significantly different from each other. Energy value of 0.550% ash content (d.b.) of bread flour was in normal value, while energy value of 0.650% ash content (d.b.) of flour was low. Physico-chemical and flourgraph properties of 0.550% and 0.650% ash content (d.b.) of flours could be improved by blending or adding α-amylase.

Swell-Drying operation (SD) was applied on mangoes to evaluate its effect on drying kinetics: starting accessibility (δW), apparent drying coefficient (Dapp), and time to obtain a final moisture content of 20% d.b (tf = 20% d.b). Swell-drying consisted of (1) submitting fresh mangoes to a first pre-drying stage under Convective Air Drying (CAD) until a moisture content of 37% d.b; (2) applying Instant Controlled Pressure Drop (DIC) treatments on pre-dried mangoes by following a central composite rotatable design (steam pressure: 0.2–0.6 MPa and treatment time: 5 and 55 s); and (3) apply post-drying of mangoes under CAD. In both cases, CAD was performed at 60 °C and airflow of 1 m/s. Results showed that both the treatment time and the steam pressure impacted the Dapp and the δW. By comparing to the control, SD (0.54 MPa and 48 s) increased the Dapp and δW to 12.2 and 2.7 times, respectively. Moreover, SD triggers a significant reduction in post-drying time (tf = 20% d.b), being this of 2.4 h vs. 30.8 h. These results could be linked to the expansion of the internal pores of mangoes generated by the instant autovaporization of residual water triggered by DIC treatment.

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui keterampilan menulis surat pribadi pada siswa kelas VII SMP Bumi Putra melalui penerapan model discovery learning serta mengetahui kendala yang dialami siswa. metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes, angket, dan observasi. Populasi dalam penelitan ini yaitu siswa kelas VII SMP Bumi Putra. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas VII-A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII-B sebagai kelas kontrol dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Hipotesis pertama yaitu penerapan model discovery learning dapat meningkatkan dalam pembelajaran menulis surat pribadi pada siswa kelas VII SMP Bumi Putra dapat teruji kebenarannya, dibuktikan dengan diperolehnya data prates kelas eksperimen dengan nilai rata-rata 51,03 berada pada tingkat penguasaan kurang mampu, sedangkan pada hasil postes nilai rata-rata 78,56 dengan tingkat penguasaan mampu. Hasil perbandingan mean kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan rumus uji t, diperoleh harga t0= 2,82 dan d.b. = 34 setelah melakukan pengetesan satu skor pada tabel nilai “t”. Nilai d.b. = 34 tidak terdapat dalam tabel maka dicari d.b. yang mendekati, yaitu d.b. 30 dan diperoleh harga t0 0,99 = 2,45 dan harga to 0,05 = 1,69. Dengan demikian, thitung signifikan karena nilai ttabel thitung yaitu 1,69 lebih kecil dari 2,82 lebih besar dari 2,45.

The physical and aerodynamic properties of black and white sesame were determined at Moisture Content(MC%) range of 8.5 – 30.6%(d.b).The major, minor, intermediate, arithmetic mean, geometric mean diameters and sphericity, projected area of the two varieties were 2.96 – 3.94mm, 1.47 -2.40mm,0.54 -1.26mm,1.66 – 2.50mm, 0.78 - 3.66mm and 26.53 – 93.45, 1.91 – 42.08mm2 respectively.The increase in MC resulted decrease in true density from 1038.61 – 994.93 kg/mm2 and 1039.61 – 998.47 kg/mm2 for white and black sesame seed respectively.The terminal velocity of white sesame seed ranged from 3.12 – 7.82m/s while black sesame seed ranged from 3.16 – 7.94m/s at MC range of 8.5 – 306% (d.b).The drag coefficient were 3.750.31 and 2.26 – 0.23 for white and black sesame seed respectively as MC ranged from 8.5 – 30.6% (d.b) while Reynold number varied from 2363.9 – 23067.3 and 3401.5 – 15121.6 for white and black sesame seed respectively at MC range of 8.5 - 30.6% (d.b).The properties of sesame seed determined varied significantly with variety and MC.This findings are the prerequisite in the design and selection of sesame seed separating machine. A pneumatic separator can be designed with provision for effective separation of undesired light material with average terminal velocity below 5.17m/s and 5.67m/s for white and black sesame seeds respectively.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to model the water sorption kinetics of damaged beans. Grains with initial moisture content of 53.85%, dry basis (d.b.), were used. One portion of the grains was used to obtain desorption isotherms, while the other was subjected to drying until the moisture content of 5.26% (d.b.), so that it was subjected to the adsorption. For the induction of damage, a Stein Breakage Tester was used. To obtain the equilibrium moisture content, grains were placed in a climatic chamber at 20, 30, 40 and 50 ± 1 °C combined with relative humidity of 30, 40, 50, 70 and 90 ± 3%. The GAB model fitted well to the equilibrium moisture experimental data of damaged grains and control. With increasing temperature, the monolayer moisture contents decreased in adsorption and desorption processes, ranging from 9.84 to 5.10% d.b. The lower moisture content in the monolayer in damaged grains indicates that lower moisture content is necessary to ensure their conservation.

Nel secondo capitolo viene descritta l'attività dello spedizioniere tradizionale, e come il "digital imperative" sia ormai necessario, mettendo in evidenza anche i vari competitors e le innovazioni che essi stanno apportando al mondo dei trasporti, sfruttando le nuove tecnologie. Emerge in modo chiaro che gli spedizionieri devono concentrarsi su due aspetti: l’aumento della customer experience e una maggiore efficienza delle quotidiane attività operative. Infine, viene presentato il caso pratico di D.B. Group S.p.A., azienda di trasporti e logistica situata a Montebelluna, TV, in cui chi scrive lavora nel reparto Air Export Operations da luglio 2018. Group S.p.A. è ben consapevole del percorso da dover intraprendere per rimanere leader nel territorio e continuare a offrire al proprio clienti un servizio ad alto livello e a prezzi competitivi. A huge gap exists today: from one side, the worldwide predominant empire of the multinationals which operate without boundaries becoming more powerful than the States, and from the other side, the lack of the jurisdiction to reach out what is going on outside its own territory. The progressive world amalgamation, the failure of the welfare state, flexible specialization and of multistate governance, are the four key factors that posed and still are posing challenges to labor movements bringing the Multinational to exploit the advantage of the lack of workers' protection as well as their low wages. Therefore the corporate social responsibility and the knowledge of international standards of all the voluntary/involuntary tools can make a real difference in today’s economic scenario restricting the ‘supremacy’ of MNEs. Particularly, the CSR can be thought as a way to improve the quality of business and supply labor operations: it can increases the image and the reputation of the company, attract and retain employees, engage with local communities and the local government. Adopting a responsible vision to operate will bring new significant values to the company.

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to study the adaptation process of the TV-show Game of Thrones. This paper focuses mainly on how David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and HBO adapted the TV-show from George R.R. Martins book series A Song of Ice and Fire and what, in the adaptation and in the reception of the TV-show, made it such a global cultural phenomenon. The analysis has been done by analysing interviews and studying behind-the-scenes material that has been available through articles and bonus material provided by the web and on the DVD and Blu-Ray features of the show. Mary H. Snyders Analyzing Literature-to-Film Adaptations provides a ground tool of analysing adaptations where particularly her “A Marriage of Media” theory has significantly helped the study. The paper analyses fantasy as a genre, the book series that the TV-show is based on, and the adaptation process itself and the different components that make up for the TV-show called Game of Thrones. After the adaptation analysis there is a study on how the internet has helped distributing both the show’s popularity and the show itself through the use of illegal downloading. The result is that the adaption is a successful “Marriage between media”, to use Snyders words, where the internet can be seen as product of that metaphorical marriage. The confidence and trust that both the author of the books and the show runners of the TV-series has placed in each other is the binding fundament that made the adaption as successful as it is. HBO as a cable network company also play a significant part where the financial support to the show’s production and the non-existent censorship regarding the adult content otherwise wouldn’t have been provided for, had the show been produced and/or aired by any other network company for example. The previous successes of other fantasy adaptations such as The Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter-series could also be seen as necessary initiators regarding the industry’s newfound openness towards large scale fantasy projects.

A Rádio Televisão Portuguesa inaugurou a rede de difusão DAB em 1998. Nos anos que se seguiram realizou a sua expansão tendo chegado a cobrir todo o território nacional. Devido a diversos fatores, nomeadamente o preço dos recetores, a rede foi desligada em 2010. Nesta tese mostramos que a tecnologia DAB continua atual, oferecendo grandes vantagens quer aos operadores quer ao público em geral e além disso propõe uma solução tecnológica para a utilização da referida rede DAB. A solução proposta, consiste na difusão de conteúdos multimédia de sinalética e pode ser estendida a qualquer outra rede de difusão, nomeadamente DVB. Para este tipo de conteúdos, propomos o uso de códigos “Fountain” do tipo LT ou Raptor, códigos que conseguem uma grande eficiência e não requerem canal de retorno. No entanto, também mostramos que a existência de um canal de dados alternativo à rede de difusão DAB, mesmo que de baixo débito, permite enviar os dados em falta de forma eficiente e articulada com a rede de difusão DAB. Esta solução permite aumentar a área de cobertura em relação à utilização exclusiva das redes DAB/DVB. No caso Português esta seria uma forma eficiente e comercialmente interessante de tirar partido do espectro livre nas bandas DAB e DVB, nomeadamente para os dispositivos de sinalética e da “Internet of Things”.
The Portuguese Radio Television set up a DAB broadcasting network in 1998. In the years that follow this network was expanded to the whole Portuguese territory. Due to several factors, including the high cost of the receivers, the network was shut down in 2010. In this thesis we show that the DAB technology continues to be a hot topic, presenting many advantages for the operators and consumers. Moreover, we propose a technical solution for an alternative use of the DAB network. The proposed solution consists in the broadcasting of multimedia signage and can be extended to other networks, including the DVB. For this type of contents, we propose the use of Fountain codes like the LT or the Raptor codes that achieve a high efficiency and do not require a feedback channel. However, if an alternate channel exists, even with a low bit-rate, it allows the coverage area to increase when compared to the exclusive use of DAB/DVB networks. In the Portuguese case this would be an efficient and commercially interesting way to take advantage of the free spectrum in DAB and DVB bands, particularly for signage devices and the "Internet of Things".

Abstract:

TV and radio services have always been distributed over analogue broadcasting networks and been received on a TV -set or a radio receiver. Today this situation is changing due to digitalization and convergence between broadcasting, telecommunications and data communications. Other terminals, such as a PC, can also receive TV and radio services. Digital TV and radio can offer additional services such as e-commerce, electronic program guides and content synchronized to the TV and radio shows. If these services are to be received by several receiving terminals with different properties, the services must be adapted to the terminals. This can be done by scaling the services, meaning that the appearances and functionality of the services vary depending on the terminals’ properties. In this thesis scalable services are examined from a terminal point of view. Present and future receivers, platforms and possible methods to achieve scalability are presented, and their effects on scalable services are discussed.


TV- och radiosändningar har fram till nyligen endast distribuerats över analoga TV- och radionät och tagits emot av traditionella TV- och radioapparater, men detta håller på att ändras i och med att sändningarna digitaliseras och konvergens sker mellan broadcasting, telekom och datakom. Nu kan även andra terminaler fungera som mottagare, t.ex. en PC med ett digital-TVkort eller ett digital-radiokort. Digital TV och radio erbjuder tilläggstjänster som t.ex. ehandel, tjänster kopplade till radio- eller TV-program och elektroniska programguider. Om samma tjänst ska kunna tas emot på flera olika mottagarterminaler med olika egenskaper, måste tjänsten anpassas efter terminalerna. Detta kan göras genom att skala tjänsten, dvs. utseendet och funktionerna varierar beroende på bl.a. terminalens kapacitet. I detta arbete har terminalaspekterna på skalbara tjänster undersökts. Aktuella och framtida terminaler, plattformar och eventuella skalbarhetslösningar presenteras, och deras påverkan på skalbara tjänster diskuteras.

Master’s thesis is focused on SFN (Single Frequency Network) and MFN (Multi Frequency Network) networks design in digital television broadcasting based on DVB-T standard and digital radio broadcasting based on T-DAB standard. First part of the thesis is focused on the theoretical description of the MPEG-2 TS transmission, its propagation from transmitter across free space, to be decoded in the DVB-T receiver. In the second, practical part of the thesis, basic parameters of a software package for broadcast network design in RadioLab, RadioBase and Sítě SFN are introduced and the results are displayed on the digital terrain map and morphologic map. Within solution of this thesis was created signal coverage model of DVB-T digital transmitters in entire area of the Czech Republic, so called networks no. 1-4, according to its status in spring 2010, and its future expansion, which is known from TPP (Technical Plan of Conversion) document. At the conclusion of thesis there were made experiments with the modeling of transmitters’ radiated power, guard interval selection and location of DVB-T transmitters in the SFN network.

L'etude effectuee au centre commun d'etudes de telediffusion et de telecommunications (ccett) de rennes apporte une contribution a l'evaluation des techniques de multiplexage dans le domaine de la diffusion de programmes audiovisuels. Ce type de diffusion est un nouveau champ d'application des techniques de multiplexage. L'objectif est de cerner les caracteristiques des multiplex de diffusion numerique. Le multiplex est le flux d'informations constitue a partir des flux elementaires des differents programmes. Pour ce faire, nous utilisons les techniques d'evaluation de performances telles que la theorie des files d'attente et la simulation. C'est une nouvelle approche dans le domaine de la diffusion de multiplex numerique. L'etude est basee sur les specifications des systemes de radiodiffusion sonore (projet europeen eureka 147 digital audio broadcasting) et de diffusion de programmes de television (projet europeen digital video broadcasting). Le multiplex dab est base sur la transmission periodique d'une trame (multiplexage temporel synchrone) tandis que le multiplex dvb s'appuie sur le format de transmission mpeg2-ts (multiplexage temporel asynchrone). A partir de ces deux specifications, nous presentons certains points d'evaluation: l'organisation du multiplex, les techniques de protection contre les erreurs de transmission et la diffusion de la signalisation associee aux programmes. La signalisation decrit la maniere d'acceder aux differents flux de chaque programme et leur contenu (intitule, type ou resume). Nous avons donc approfondi le probleme de la transmission de la signalisation, car c'est un probleme commun a tout type de multiplex de diffusion. La signalisation est diffusee periodiquement aux recepteurs afin de limiter le temps d'acces aux programmes. Afin de faciliter le travail du recepteur, les specifications imposent des contraintes particulieres de multiplexage de la signalisation. La signalisation dab est vehiculee sous la forme de paquets de taille variable dans un canal de signalisation de taille fixe. Les informations indispensables pour l'acces aux programmes vehicules dans le multiplex dab doivent etre diffusees a une position privilegiee du canal de signalisation. En effet, certains recepteurs dab ne peuvent acceder qu'a une partie de ce canal. Nous specifions un modele de constitution du canal de signalisation dab et comparons plusieurs algorithmes de constitution. Nous definissons une representation de la qualite en fonction du nombre de programmes. La signalisation dvb est decrite sous la forme de tables si (service information) dvb composees d'un ensemble de sections. Les sections sont transmises sous la forme de paquets de transport mpeg2-ts. On limite la charge du recepteur en imposant un delai minimal d'espacement entre la diffusion de deux sections consecutives d'une meme table si dvb. Afin de dimensionner les tampons des dispositifs de traitement du si dvb, nous considerons une file avec une capacite infinie dont le processus d'arrivee est une superposition de processus periodiques deterministes et dont le temps de service est constant. La discipline du service depend d'un ordre chronologique de diffusion (delai minimal d'espacement entre deux sections ou fifo). La mise en uvre des deux modeles se fait a l'aide du langage de simulation modsim. La resolution des modeles se fait par simulation.

Jaboticaba (Plinia cauliflora) is a Brazilian fruit with a high content of anthocyanins compounds. Peel corresponds to 30 % of the fruit weight and it is considerated a residue since just the pulp is used. The aim of this work was to analyze the convective drying process of the jaboticaba peels. Moisture content of dried peels showed a range of 7.17 to 13.26 (% w.b.). The results also reported that jaboticaba peels have high anthocyanins content (fresh: 1162.99 ± 41.35 mg/100g d.b) and it was possible to maintain these compounds even after the drying process (1052 to 1270 mg/100g d.b).Keywords: jaboticaba; peel; drying; residue; anthocyanins.

Air drying kinetics of Bifurcaria bifurcata brown seaweed at 35, 50, 60 and 75°C were determined. Experimental drying data were modelled using two-parameter Page model (n, k). Page parameter n was constant (1.28) at tested temperatures, but k increased significantly with drying temperature from 35 to 60ºC and was invariant at higher temperatures (up to 75ºC). Drying experiments allowed the determination of the critical moisture content of seaweed (1.6 ± 0.2 kg water (kg d.b.)−1). Mass transfer coefficients during constant drying rate period and effective coefficients of water diffusion during falling drying rate period were evaluated, assuming cyclindrical geometry and considering volumetric shrinkage. Citrus aurantium flowers are high value aromatic and medicinal plants. The storage conditions and quality of dried Citrus aurantium flowers depends on their hygroscopic stability. The equilibrium moisture content was determined at temperatures (from 30 to 60 °C), and the sorption phenomenon is well described by Peleg model. The optimal water activity for the storage of the product was estimated at awop=0.373. Afterwards, the net isosteric heat was evaluated in the range of 88 kJ.mol−1 for small values of the moisture content (Xeq=0.14kg water/kg d.b), and it decreased along with the increase of Xeq. The experimental drying curves showed only a falling rate period. Finally, Midilli-Kucuk model was found to be the more suitable to describe the drying kinetic of Citrus aurantium flowers. Abstract:
Giant knotweed (Fallopia sachalinensis) was chosen as a perspective energy plant because it is not a soil demanding plant and belongs to the most efficient herbs in Central Europe as regards high biomass yield. Miscanthus (Miscanthus sinensis) was chosen as a control one. Knotweeds are comparable to wood briquettes and pellets because of their similarparallel mechanical and thermal features. These plants grow in forest environment with an approximate yield productivity of 15 t ha-1 d.b. (dry basis). Experimental research investigations were performed in the laboratories of Aleksandras Stulginskis University. Giant knotweed and miscanthus biomass was cut, chopped, milled and granulated with a small capacity granulator (250–300 kg h-1). Quality parameters of plant preparative and use for energetical objectives were determined. Plant chaff and mill fraction compositions were determined, and quality indicators of the produced pellets were measured – moisture content, density, resistance to compression, elemental composition, ash content and calorific value, also bulk density, fall and natural slope angles. Moisture content reached 7.8 ± 0.8 %; pellet density was 1227.3 ± 48.6 kg m-3. Resistance to compression of giant knotweed pellet was 850 N. Determined ash content was 4.3 ± 0.01 %, and net calorific value of knotweed dry mass was of sufficient height and reached 18.96 ± 0.28 MJ kg-1. Bulk density reached 509.9 kg m-3, natural slope angle was 31.7 0 and fall angle was 49.3 0.
