Abstract:

L'obiettivo della tesi è quello di studiare come il processo di digital transformation stia impattando il mondo dei trasporti e della logistica. La prima parte è finalizzata ad un’analisi del commercio internazionale, costantemente sottoposto a cambiamenti e minacce. Nel secondo capitolo viene descritta l'attività dello spedizioniere tradizionale, e come il "digital imperative" sia ormai necessario, mettendo in evidenza anche i vari competitors e le innovazioni che essi stanno apportando al mondo dei trasporti, sfruttando le nuove tecnologie. Emerge in modo chiaro che gli spedizionieri devono concentrarsi su due aspetti: l’aumento della customer experience e una maggiore efficienza delle quotidiane attività operative. Infine, viene presentato il caso pratico di D.B. Group S.p.A., azienda di trasporti e logistica situata a Montebelluna, TV, in cui chi scrive lavora nel reparto Air Export Operations da luglio 2018. D.B. Group S.p.A. è ben consapevole del percorso da dover intraprendere per rimanere leader nel territorio e continuare a offrire al proprio clienti un servizio ad alto livello e a prezzi competitivi. Pertanto, verranno illustrate le attività poste in essere in ottica di digital transformation, a cui chi scrive sta attivamente prendendo parte.

Abstract:

A huge gap exists today: from one side, the worldwide predominant empire of the multinationals which operate without boundaries becoming more powerful than the States, and from the other side, the lack of the jurisdiction to reach out what is going on outside its own territory. The progressive world amalgamation, the failure of the welfare state, flexible specialization and of multistate governance, are the four key factors that posed and still are posing challenges to labor movements bringing the Multinational to exploit the advantage of the lack of workers' protection as well as their low wages. Therefore the corporate social responsibility and the knowledge of international standards of all the voluntary/involuntary tools can make a real difference in today’s economic scenario restricting the ‘supremacy’ of MNEs. Particularly, the CSR can be thought as a way to improve the quality of business and supply labor operations: it can increases the image and the reputation of the company, attract and retain employees, engage with local communities and the local government. Adopting a responsible vision to operate will bring new significant values to the company.

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to study the adaptation process of the TV-show Game of Thrones. This paper focuses mainly on how David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and HBO adapted the TV-show from George R.R. Martins book series A Song of Ice and Fire and what, in the adaptation and in the reception of the TV-show, made it such a global cultural phenomenon. The analysis has been done by analysing interviews and studying behind-the-scenes material that has been available through articles and bonus material provided by the web and on the DVD and Blu-Ray features of the show. Mary H. Snyders Analyzing Literature-to-Film Adaptations provides a ground tool of analysing adaptations where particularly her “A Marriage of Media” theory has significantly helped the study. The paper analyses fantasy as a genre, the book series that the TV-show is based on, and the adaptation process itself and the different components that make up for the TV-show called Game of Thrones. After the adaptation analysis there is a study on how the internet has helped distributing both the show’s popularity and the show itself through the use of illegal downloading. The result is that the adaption is a successful “Marriage between media”, to use Snyders words, where the internet can be seen as product of that metaphorical marriage. The confidence and trust that both the author of the books and the show runners of the TV-series has placed in each other is the binding fundament that made the adaption as successful as it is. HBO as a cable network company also play a significant part where the financial support to the show’s production and the non-existent censorship regarding the adult content otherwise wouldn’t have been provided for, had the show been produced and/or aired by any other network company for example. The previous successes of other fantasy adaptations such as The Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter-series could also be seen as necessary initiators regarding the industry’s newfound openness towards large scale fantasy projects.

A Rádio Televisão Portuguesa inaugurou a rede de difusão DAB em 1998. Nos anos que se seguiram realizou a sua expansão tendo chegado a cobrir todo o território nacional. Devido a diversos fatores, nomeadamente o preço dos recetores, a rede foi desligada em 2010. Nesta tese mostramos que a tecnologia DAB continua atual, oferecendo grandes vantagens quer aos operadores quer ao público em geral e além disso propõe uma solução tecnológica para a utilização da referida rede DAB. A solução proposta, consiste na difusão de conteúdos multimédia de sinalética e pode ser estendida a qualquer outra rede de difusão, nomeadamente DVB. Para este tipo de conteúdos, propomos o uso de códigos “Fountain” do tipo LT ou Raptor, códigos que conseguem uma grande eficiência e não requerem canal de retorno. No entanto, também mostramos que a existência de um canal de dados alternativo à rede de difusão DAB, mesmo que de baixo débito, permite enviar os dados em falta de forma eficiente e articulada com a rede de difusão DAB. Esta solução permite aumentar a área de cobertura em relação à utilização exclusiva das redes DAB/DVB. No caso Português esta seria uma forma eficiente e comercialmente interessante de tirar partido do espectro livre nas bandas DAB e DVB, nomeadamente para os dispositivos de sinalética e da “Internet of Things”.
The Portuguese Radio Television set up a DAB broadcasting network in 1998. In the years that follow this network was expanded to the whole Portuguese territory. Due to several factors, including the high cost of the receivers, the network was shut down in 2010. In this thesis we show that the DAB technology continues to be a hot topic, presenting many advantages for the operators and consumers. Moreover, we propose a technical solution for an alternative use of the DAB network. The proposed solution consists in the broadcasting of multimedia signage and can be extended to other networks, including the DVB. For this type of contents, we propose the use of Fountain codes like the LT or the Raptor codes that achieve a high efficiency and do not require a feedback channel. However, if an alternate channel exists, even with a low bit-rate, it allows the coverage area to increase when compared to the exclusive use of DAB/DVB networks. In the Portuguese case this would be an efficient and commercially interesting way to take advantage of the free spectrum in DAB and DVB bands, particularly for signage devices and the "Internet of Things".

Abstract:

TV and radio services have always been distributed over analogue broadcasting networks and been received on a TV -set or a radio receiver. Today this situation is changing due to digitalization and convergence between broadcasting, telecommunications and data communications. Other terminals, such as a PC, can also receive TV and radio services. Digital TV and radio can offer additional services such as e-commerce, electronic program guides and content synchronized to the TV and radio shows. If these services are to be received by several receiving terminals with different properties, the services must be adapted to the terminals. This can be done by scaling the services, meaning that the appearances and functionality of the services vary depending on the terminals’ properties. In this thesis scalable services are examined from a terminal point of view. Present and future receivers, platforms and possible methods to achieve scalability are presented, and their effects on scalable services are discussed.

TV- och radiosändningar har fram till nyligen endast distribuerats över analoga TV- och radionät och tagits emot av traditionella TV- och radioapparater, men detta håller på att ändras i och med att sändningarna digitaliseras och konvergens sker mellan broadcasting, telekom och datakom. Nu kan även andra terminaler fungera som mottagare, t.ex. en PC med ett digital-TVkort eller ett digital-radiokort. Digital TV och radio erbjuder tilläggstjänster som t.ex. ehandel, tjänster kopplade till radio- eller TV-program och elektroniska programguider. Om samma tjänst ska kunna tas emot på flera olika mottagarterminaler med olika egenskaper, måste tjänsten anpassas efter terminalerna. Detta kan göras genom att skala tjänsten, dvs. utseendet och funktionerna varierar beroende på bl.a. terminalens kapacitet. I detta arbete har terminalaspekterna på skalbara tjänster undersökts. Aktuella och framtida terminaler, plattformar och eventuella skalbarhetslösningar presenteras, och deras påverkan på skalbara tjänster diskuteras.

Abstract:

Master’s thesis is focused on SFN (Single Frequency Network) and MFN (Multi Frequency Network) networks design in digital television broadcasting based on DVB-T standard and digital radio broadcasting based on T-DAB standard. First part of the thesis is focused on the theoretical description of the MPEG-2 TS transmission, its propagation from transmitter across free space, to be decoded in the DVB-T receiver. In the second, practical part of the thesis, basic parameters of a software package for broadcast network design in RadioLab, RadioBase and Sítě SFN are introduced and the results are displayed on the digital terrain map and morphologic map. Within solution of this thesis was created signal coverage model of DVB-T digital transmitters in entire area of the Czech Republic, so called networks no. 1-4, according to its status in spring 2010, and its future expansion, which is known from TPP (Technical Plan of Conversion) document. At the conclusion of thesis there were made experiments with the modeling of transmitters’ radiated power, guard interval selection and location of DVB-T transmitters in the SFN network.

L'etude effectuee au centre commun d'etudes de telediffusion et de telecommunications (ccett) de rennes apporte une contribution a l'evaluation des techniques de multiplexage dans le domaine de la diffusion de programmes audiovisuels. Ce type de diffusion est un nouveau champ d'application des techniques de multiplexage. L'objectif est de cerner les caracteristiques des multiplex de diffusion numerique. Le multiplex est le flux d'informations constitue a partir des flux elementaires des differents programmes. Pour ce faire, nous utilisons les techniques d'evaluation de performances telles que la theorie des files d'attente et la simulation. C'est une nouvelle approche dans le domaine de la diffusion de multiplex numerique. L'etude est basee sur les specifications des systemes de radiodiffusion sonore (projet europeen eureka 147 digital audio broadcasting) et de diffusion de programmes de television (projet europeen digital video broadcasting). Le multiplex dab est base sur la transmission periodique d'une trame (multiplexage temporel synchrone) tandis que le multiplex dvb s'appuie sur le format de transmission mpeg2-ts (multiplexage temporel asynchrone). A partir de ces deux specifications, nous presentons certains points d'evaluation: l'organisation du multiplex, les techniques de protection contre les erreurs de transmission et la diffusion de la signalisation associee aux programmes. La signalisation decrit la maniere d'acceder aux differents flux de chaque programme et leur contenu (intitule, type ou resume). Nous avons donc approfondi le probleme de la transmission de la signalisation, car c'est un probleme commun a tout type de multiplex de diffusion. La signalisation est diffusee periodiquement aux recepteurs afin de limiter le temps d'acces aux programmes. Afin de faciliter le travail du recepteur, les specifications imposent des contraintes particulieres de multiplexage de la signalisation. La signalisation dab est vehiculee sous la forme de paquets de taille variable dans un canal de signalisation de taille fixe. Les informations indispensables pour l'acces aux programmes vehicules dans le multiplex dab doivent etre diffusees a une position privilegiee du canal de signalisation. En effet, certains recepteurs dab ne peuvent acceder qu'a une partie de ce canal. Nous specifions un modele de constitution du canal de signalisation dab et comparons plusieurs algorithmes de constitution. Nous definissons une representation de la qualite en fonction du nombre de programmes. La signalisation dvb est decrite sous la forme de tables si (service information) dvb composees d'un ensemble de sections. Les sections sont transmises sous la forme de paquets de transport mpeg2-ts. On limite la charge du recepteur en imposant un delai minimal d'espacement entre la diffusion de deux sections consecutives d'une meme table si dvb. Afin de dimensionner les tampons des dispositifs de traitement du si dvb, nous considerons une file avec une capacite infinie dont le processus d'arrivee est une superposition de processus periodiques deterministes et dont le temps de service est constant. La discipline du service depend d'un ordre chronologique de diffusion (delai minimal d'espacement entre deux sections ou fifo). La mise en uvre des deux modeles se fait a l'aide du langage de simulation modsim. La resolution des modeles se fait par simulation.

Abstract:

As broadcasted television is changing from analogue to digital transmission, the television industry has to adapt itself for a new reality. Digitization opens for a wide array of new ways of watching television, where interactivity and mobility are paramount. The difference in the experience lies in the interactive part, inviting the user to take part in what happens on the mobile screen. What the mobile telephone lacks in screen size it can now make up for with its interactive potential. Instead of just watching television, the user now interacts with it. As a result, the television experience can be tailored to suit consumers with different requirements. In this study I look at true-time broadcasted television to handheld devices over the standards achieved in Europe and Korea today, DVB-H and T-DMB, and how interactivity between content provider and end-user can be achieved. I also look into how metadata plays a crucial role in interactive television, and the means to utilize metadata to favor the end-users demands according to standards such as XML, MPEG and Tv-Anytime. By supplying metadata to i.e sport or reality shows, and hence creating interactivity between content provider and end-user, a new marked for television is made possible. Electronic program guides (EPGs), teletext and weather forecasts for handhelds are examples of ways that metadata can be utilized to create an interactive experience for the end-user.

This paper presents the results of installing a distributed feedback (DFB) laser transmitter and the appropriate optical receiver in an operational site. Frequencies from 1435 to 2400 megahertz are transported intact from a remote site to a local site. From the theoretical calculations, 10 dB of dynamic range may need to be recovered by the use of an automatic gain circuit. The actual device is a delight, needing no additional circuitry to meet specifications. Predictions of performance were made from calculations. The installed system was measured for 1 dB compression point and for figure of merit.

Vid utveckling av applikationer för digital television kan man välja att utveckla i antingen DVB-J (som är en bantad variant av Java för exekvering i Set-Top-Boxar) eller i DVB-HTML (som till stor del överensstämmer med XHTML). Syftet med detta arbete är att utreda hur DVB-J och DVB-HTML kan kombineras i en och samma applikation och hur interoperabilitet kan uppnås mellan DVB-J och DVB-HTML.

The paper deals with the channel coding and modulation in DVB-H and DVB-SH and with the simulation of the components in MATLAB. In the case of DVB-H the document also discuss the influence of different types of transmission channels on the transmission process. The first part of this work describes the channel coding and inner modulation in DVB-H and DVB-SH. The next part describes applications created in MATLAB for settings and simulation of the transmission in the standards DVB-H and DVB-SH. The last part of this document graphically presents selected results of the simulation of the transmission and discuss them.

Master's thesis compares the standard for digital terrestrial television broadcasting of the first generation DVB-T/H and the second generation DVB-T2 with particular emphasis on the modulator, a security channel interference, the signal from the transmitting environment itself and the modulation signal. The following description of specific models of transmission channels for fixed, portable and mobile reception of digital terrestrial signal. Project is focused on description DVB broadcasting for hand-held’s. It describes standard DVB-H that is founded on DVB-T and uses its transmission infrastructure. Standard DVB-SH is a hybrid system that adds to terrestrial broadcasting satellite connection. Signal can extend by various environments, therefore it are defined models transmission channel with defined parameters. Simulation of the transmission in both channel are realized in user application created in MATLAB. Finally, obtained results are evaluated and discussed.

This thesis discusses travel time prediction of vehicles on roads based on the methods of machine learning. It describes theory of travel times and summarizes scientific papers dealing with this topic. Within the thesis, analysis of real travel time data was done and the features to be used in prediction models were engineered. Finally, the complex prediction system was designed and implemented and has been tested in production environment.

This thesis examines the influence of contributory periods and excluded periods on the pension amount. Furthermore, various pension construction elements and a retirement calculation method is discussed. The subsequent chapter is devoted to the corresponding contributory periods of insurance and their position in comparison with other insurance periods. Moreover, there are simulated model examples of situations, where the contributory periods are not included into the pension amount.

Abstract:

This Master thesis deals with description, analysis and simulation of standards of digital video broadcasting DVB-C and DVB-C2. There is described mainly the transmission system, channel coding, type of modulation and OFDM symbols generation. Furthermore, channel models, used for the exploring of their performances are described too. There was created an application with a graphical interface in MATLAB, which simulates transmission in DVB-C2. Based on simulations there are compared influences of each settings on bit error rate of data transmission for both standards. Finally, obtained simulation results are compared with theoretical values.

Abstract:

DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is the radio digital system developed as an european standard by the ETSI, EN 300 400, based on the Eureka-147 group works, to improve the performance of the analogue radio systems (AM and FM). The system is based on the OFDM technology which allows DAB to exploit the spectrum frequencies in a better way with a higher quality of sound for mobile receivers specially. The main part of the OFDM system is based on the FFT algorithms to spread the data flow over different orthogonal carriers. The simulation has been developed in Simulink^TMand Matlab^TMand the layout designed follows faithfully the standard for the transmission system. The simulation can be reloaded by the user with the information presented in this thesis. Thus, this work can be continued to complete the DAB whole system simulation. The results obtained running this simulation show the main DAB system characteristics.

Der Web-Service für DDC "MELVIL" wird aktualisiert. Bis zum Erscheinen der 23. Ausgabe der DDC im Jahr 2010 sind über 10 000 Klassen zu bearbeiten. Neues von DDC national: Im Projekt Criss Cross werden Sachschlagwörter mit DDC Notationen verknüpft; von 150 000 SSW sind 65 000 SSW fertig gestellt, MELVIL wird mit diesen Sachschlagwörtern angereichert und die Notationsrecherche wird damit verbessert. Im übrigen beteiligte sich die DNB an einem – nationalen – Automatisierungstest. Zur automatischen Vergabe von DDC-Notationen zu Titelsätzen lieferte Dr. Ulrike Reiner, Göttingen, eine Programmierung (über die sie bei den Jahrestagungen 2007 und 2008 berichtet hat: http://archiv.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/2007/0139 http://archiv.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/2008/0150 Die Testanordnung umfaßte jeweils ca. 100 Titel aus den zehn Hauptklassen von DDC. Die Verknüpfungsergebnisse wurden bewertet. Ein erneuter Testlauf ist im Jahr 2009 wieder geplant. In der DNB gibt es Möglichkeiten zur DDC-Fortbildung! Die Weiterentwicklung von MACS (Multilingual access to subjects) erfolgt unter Leitung und in Zusammenarbeit mit der Schweizerischen Nationalbibliothek unter dem Dach von CENL mit Beteiligung der Französischen, Britischen und Deutschen Nationalbibliothek(en). Ziel ist die Herstellung einer Verbindung zwischen den Sachschlagwörtern der drei Schlagwortnormdateien Rameau, Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) und Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD) zur sachlichen Suche im deutsch-, englisch- und französischsprachigen Raum. Stand: 65 700 Double RAMEAU-LCSH; 20 000 Tripple RAMEAU-LCSH-SWD; im Jahr 2009 ist verstärkte Einbindung der SWD geplant.

DSB Mobile is a small Peruvian software developing company based in Lima. DSB Mobile specializes in the development of both mobile and web applications and has worked with major companies such as Samsung, Claro & Entel. The company is composed of the General Manager, Zico Herrera, a sales manager, operations manager and both fulltime and contract based software developers that are hired based on the current demand for service. DSB Mobile has established a strong reputation and brand in Peru and is now looking to expand outside of Peru where they can introduce their software products into international markets. In their aspiration to internationalize, DSB Mobile is seeking to find out not only the most profitable markets for their company but also markets that would best align with DSB Mobiles mission. The solution to their question of expansion was to determine the best markets using a variety of both quantitative and qualitative factors. In using an IT Competitiveness report that was done by the British Software Alliance this was used as a reference point to determine the best ranked countries for IT competitiveness and the best countries to conduct business in base off of important IT indicators. Combined with software data statistics in terms of charges per project and cost of IT Consultants, this further narrowed down the scope to the most attractive, profitable and mutually beneficial market for DSB Mobile. The implementation plan proposed involved two market lines namely, the North American market line and the European Market line. The proposed solution takes into consideration different scenarios, one of them being the moderate work balance of 1 project per month, giving a total cost of $391,065 per year with a profit of $180,736. The Gantt chart outlined is intended to guide the company with the step by step implementation of this international expansion and prepare them to execute this plan in the most efficient and effective manner

Abstract:

This thesis began by studying how a temporary event could create permanent architecture and how that architecture could change an urban lifestyle. I chose the Olympics as the event and proposed that they be held in Washington D.C., a city of international prominence with a rich design history but a city that hasn't had a large scale urban redevelopment plan in over a century. I focused on the city east of the Capitol as I wanted to extend the monumental core created in the McMillan plan. I researched baroque design, Olympic planning, and even the original L'Enfant plan. The result of this research was unearthing some of the original L'Enfant design elements and incorporating them into a 21st century city by blending new design issues with the idea of a city designed around radial vistas with magnificent termini. I focused on two sites, the Olympic Torch and the Olympic Stadium. The Torch is situated as a terminus on a site that was intended to be mile marker zero for the country. Its design and importance make it a monument while still not impeding the views. The stadium was created to serve as a stadium for the people, allowing pedestrians outside to view and interact with the event inside. It is sunken so as not to obstruct views but it is spanned by arches that pierce the cityscape signifying its monumentality and appropriately ending the monumental axis started with the Lincoln Memorial on the western edge of the city.

The theme of this thesis is simulation of DVB-C2 transmission. The first part of this thesis is focused mainly on theory, where it describes differences between digital and analog television transmission. The project also explains principle of operation DVB-C and DVB-C2 systems with focus on channel coding a modulation. Application for simulation of DVB-C2 transmission, which is developed in the MATLAB environment is described in the second part. The last part of this thesis includes results of simulations of DVB-C2 transmission and their comparison with measured values of DVB-C transmission.

This thesis is focusing on the second satellite digital TV standard, DVB-S2. It deals with the principle of the digital TV and the first standard DVB-S. It also describes the very beginning and characteristics of the DVB-S2, new technologies in use, architecture and the individual topics are then explained more in detail. The thesis also contains the program of transmission simulation of DVB-S2 in MATLAB. In the laboratory of television technology UREL, two standards were measured and compared with the values obtained from the program. The functionality of the program and the benefits of DVB-S2 were verified afterwards.

La transmisión vía satélite ha evolucionado notablemente debido a la introducción de nuevos esquemas de modulación y de protección de errores más eficaces. El estándar Digital Video Broadcasting- Satellite 2 (DVB-S2) perfecciona la generación anterior con una mayor eficiencia y mejores prestaciones en los servicios ofrecidos. Esto último es de vital importancia para generar modelos de negocios rentables debido a que en la actualidad el recurso de segmento satelital es escaso, por ende, el ancho de banda se transforma en un factor determinante para cualquier empresa que ofrece servicios satelitales. El objetivo general del presente trabajo de título es determinar la conveniencia de efectuar una migración desde plataformas satelitales existentes DVB-S hacia DVB-S2 para un escenario de servicio Direct to Home (DTH). El estudio busca disponer de una evaluación técnico-económica de dichas tecnologías de manera de visualizar el beneficio asociado a la migración y proponer un plan de ingreso al estándar analizado, de manera tal que se obtenga la máxima rentabilidad y menor impacto para una empresa de televisión satelital, sujeto a una estrategia de cambio de los actuales Set Top Boxes. El análisis de la norma DVB-S2 se realiza a través de las alternativas técnicas que establece el estándar para la transmisión de señales de televisión en calidad estándar (SDTV) y alta definición (HDTV), incorporando también la opción de la operación del servicio en modo compatible con la actual tecnología. La evaluación económica se efectúa mediante el estudio de tres escenarios que permiten generar nuevas propuestas de valor para el operador DTH. Los resultados del trabajo ratifican los beneficios de esta nueva tecnología a través del uso eficiente de los recursos disponibles. La optimización del ancho de banda conlleva la integración de nuevas propuestas audiovisuales y servicios interactivos que aumenten la fidelización del cliente y atraigan a nuevos subscriptores. Las conclusiones del análisis técnico-económico llevan a recomendar la implementación del estándar DVB-S2 a través del modo compatible con la tecnología actual, debido a la fuerte inversión asociada al recambio de receptores de los abonados. Adicionalmente, se propone una estrategia de intercambio gradual de los actuales Set Top Boxes y promociones que ayuden a efectuar este objetivo. En relación al trabajo futuro se sugiere el desarrollo de un canal de retorno para la plataforma DTH que permita una mayor interacción entre usuario y sistema. Además de incorporar nuevos servicios interactivos aprovechando la optimización del ancho de banda debido a la incorporación de la tecnología DVB-S2. Conjuntamente, utilizar este estudio como base para la incorporación de IPTV vía satélite. Finalmente, el aprovechamiento con fines tanto docentes como privados del balance de enlace desarrollado para el nuevo estándar.

L'objectif de cette thèse est de fournir aux réseaux satellitaires géostationnaires des outils d'amélioration de performances dans un contexte contraint, lié au support de communication qui présente une qualité variable. Les défis s'étendent de la couche d'accès au support (l'ordonnancement) à la couche transport (le comportement du TCP étant sensible au délai de propagation dans les réseaux géostationnaires). Nous faisons appel aux mécanismes cross-layer qui mettent en place des interactions entre entités protocolaires non adjacentes du modèle OSI offrant ainsi une adaptation immédiate au changement des conditions dans le réseau. Nous employons à ce but une technique cross-layer informant l'entité protocolaire TCP du débit disponible, permettant d'éviter des conséquences telles que la chute du débit et des pertes liées à la congestion des files d'attente. Nous mettons en oeuvre ce mécanisme au niveau d'un élément sensible du réseau géostationnaire, le proxy TCP. L'intérêt des techniques cross-layer a été mis en évidence au niveau de l'ordonnanceur présent au sein de la gateway d'un réseau DVB-S2/DVB-RCS. Ainsi, ils contribuent à la maximisation de la capacité du système, à l'assurance des contraintes de qualité de service, à l'équité de l'allocation de ressources, etc. Enfin, nous présentons une solution possible d'architecture cross-layer. Nous proposons des caractéristiques demandées pour une architecture cross-layer afin d'assurer l'évolutivité, la modularité et la co-existence avec l'architecture standard existante
The main objective of this thesis is to provide tools of improving performance of geostationary satellite networks, operating in a constrained environment mainly due to the variable quality of radio links. There are protocol layers being challenged by such characteristics, such as the medium access protocol and the transport layer protocol (TCP behaviour is impacted by the long propagation delay in geostationary satellite networks). We employ cross-layer mechanisms implementing interaction between non-adjacent protocol layers defined by the OSI architecture aiming at providing a rapid adaptation to changes in network state. We provide a cross-layer technique informing TCP protocol of the available network rate, thus preventing consequences such as TCP rate drop or loss due to buffer overflow. This mechanism is to be implemented in a sensible network element, such as a TCP proxy. Data link layer scheduler can benefit from the advantages of employing cross-layer mechanisms, especially at the gateway of a DVB-S2/DVB-RCS satellite network. The improved scheduler allows an efficient use of network resources and helps insuring quality of services constraints, resource allocation fairness, etc. Finally, we propose a cross-layer architecture along with in-demand characteristics able to offer an inter-operability with the existing architecture, an easy up-grade and design

Abstract:

In this dissertation we deal with methods of minimizing block artefacts in digital terrestrial TV broadcasting. These artefacts are caused by compressions based on the cosine transformation (JPEG, MPEG2 I-Frames). The aim of this work is therefore to create a DVB-J application the main function of which would be to minimize block artefacts in natural images transmitted by DVB-T. That is why we first inquire into the technology of DVB digital transmission and MHP platform which provides the function and the running of interactive applications. Next, we define differences between Java and JavaTV languages and describe the way they develop, simulate and start DVB-J applications. In the following part of this work, we analyze methods that can be used to detect and minimize block artefacts. Further on, we describe the design of an adaptive filter which minimizes block artefacts (hereinafter just ´MHP-MBA´). The major result of the entire work is an MHP-Deblocking application that in itself implements a newly created MHP-MBA deblocking filter as well as a filter from video kodek H.263. In the final part we concern ourselves with testing this application on a genuine set-top-box in DVB-T broadcasting.

This thesis deals with an analysis of a system called Digital Audio Broadcast and describes its mathematical model created in MATLAB program. In the first part basic blocks of a transmitter and a receiver are analyzed along with their principles. Then different types of transmission channels for static, portable and mobile receivers are described. The second part contains description of the DAB mathematical model itself. Individual blocks are described in the order of the DAB signal path, from the transmitter through the transmission channel to the receiver side. In this part the graphical user interface is also described. In the final part the results of experimental measurements and simulations are presented.

O presente trabalho tem por objetivos: em primeiro lugar, arrolar, traduzir e analisar epigramas de Marcial em que a mulher é objeto de invectiva; em segundo lugar, visa a rastrear, na tradição anterior ao poeta, o tema da misoginia, desde Hesíodo, no célebre episódio de Pandora (Teogonia, vv. 570- 612), passando pelos poetas iâmbicos arcaicos (Arquíloco, Hipônax e Semônides), até o uso que poetas latinos, como Catulo, Horácio e Juvenal, fizeram do tema, entendido agora como tópos. Em terceiro lugar, o presente trabalho pretende observar de que maneira o epigrama, ou melhor, sua possibilidade invectiva, se apropriou da misoginia, adequando-a às características principais do gênero, a saber, brevidade e agudeza, e, finalmente, tentar demonstrar que o vitupério a mulheres em Marcial é regulado e percebido mediante práticas retóricas (como os progymnásmata) e alguns trópoi (como a écfrase), que à época do poeta participavam da formação educacional do cidadão. Nesse sentido, pretendemos estudar particularmente as relações que a invectiva mantém, nos epigramas de Marcial, com a construção de imagens viciosas de mulher e suas relações com o gênero epidítico.
The aims of the present work are first, to list, translate and analyse Martial\'s epigrams in which women are the object of invective; second, to try to investigate, in the former tradition, the theme of misogyny, both in Greece (from Hesiod, in the celebrated episode of Pandora (Teogony, vv. 570-612), to the archaic iambic poets, Archilochus, Hipponax and Semonides), and in Rome (how misogyny, as a tópos, is treatead by Catullus, Horace and Juvenal). In the third place, the present research intends to study in what manner epigram, or more precisely, its vituperative possibility, appropriated the theme of misogyny, adapting it to the main characteristics of the genre, such as conciseness and acuteness. Finally, we attempt to demonstrate that the vituperation against women, in Martial, is regulated and perceived through various rhetorical practices (such as the progymnásmata) and trópoi (such as ekphrasis) that at the poet\'s time were an important part of the citizen\'s education. Therein, we intend to study, in particular, the analogies that the invective maintain, in Martial\'s epigrams, non only with the construction of images in which women are corrupted, but also with the relationship between these images and the epidictic genre.

Šio darbo tikslas - išnagrinėji AB „DNB“ banko įvaizdžio formavimą ir valdymą teoriniu bei praktiniu aspektu ir konstatavus įvaizdžio formavimo bei valdymo problemas sukurti banko įvaizdžio tobulinimo modelį. Teorinėje darbo dalyje analizuojama organizacijos įvaizdžio samprata, kūrimo lygiai, pagrindiniai veiksniai, formuojantys organizacijos įvaizdį. Taip pat teorinėje dalyje analizuojami, lyginami organizacijos įvaizdžio kūrimo modeliai bei banko įvaizdžio valdymas. Analitinėje baigiamojo darbo dalyje pateikiami ir analizuojami rezultatai, gauti atlikus žiniasklaidoje formuojamo AB „DNB“ banko įvaizdžio bei esamų ir potencialių klientų anketinės apklausos tyrimą. Rezultatų analizės metu buvo konstatuojamos banko įvaizdžio probleminės sritys. Projektinėje darbo dalyje suformuluoti tokie sprendimai: Įvaizdžio formavimo probleminių sričių koregavimas: teikiamų banke paslaugų įvaizdžio gerinimas, banko vardo žinomumo gerinimas, žiniasklaidoje formuojamo banko įvaizdžio gerinimas bei vykdomos socialinės veiklos populiarinimas. Taip pat buvo nuspręsta stiprinti įvaizdį formuojančius elementus: personalo įvaizdžio stiprinimas sistemingai keliant darbuotojų kompetenciją, mažinant darbuotojų kaitą bei verslo įvaizdžio stiprinimas diegiant inovacijas, lyderiaujant aptarnavimo sferoje, dalyvaujant visuomeninėje veikloje, populiarinant banko pasiekimus.
Theoretical and practical consider AB „DNB“ bank’s image formation and managing. After image formation and managing problems ascertaining, to create improving model of bank’s image. The theoretical part analyzes the concept of the organization's image, development levels, the main factors shaping the organization's image. Also part of theoretic analysis, comparing the image of the organization development models and discusses the bank’s image management. Final analytical part provides an analysis of the results obtained from the media molded DNB bank's image and existing and potential customers of the questionnaire survey. Analysis of results was seen for the bank's image problem areas. Part of the design decisions are formulated as follows: Branding adjustment problem areas: banking services provided by the image of the bank's name recognition improvement of the media molded the image of the bank's ongoing social and business promotion. It was also decided to enhance the image-forming elements: strengthening the image of the staff systematically raising the competence of employees, reducing employee turnover and strengthening the image of the business through innovation, leading services sector, participation in social activities, promoting the bank's achievements.

Abstract:

Lawrence's work has almost invevitably been read as an aesthetic production whereby one must eventually agree or disagree with his vision of "reality". Those who assume a formalist standard of taste often find that Lawrence "loses control" of his material; those who offer ideological apologies for his work argue that disruptions in the aesthetic plane are representative of an exploratory genius, often seen as the outstanding characteristic of literary modernism. Both approaches, explicitly or otherwise , rely on the ultimate sanction of the achieved image, transmuted by the author always in control of his material. Yet anyone who reads Lawrence with an eye to to what the "tale" says in addition to what the "teller" claims discovers that Lawrence is not in full control of his material, thought it cannot simply be argued, on aesthetic or linguistic criteria, that he is out of control. Rather, there exists a "third" state whereby Lawrence both writes and is written, gives us a message with one hand, yet retracts, as it were, with the other. Because this double-move is preeminently suited to the language of fiction, and because it appears in Lawrence's fiction with the greatest versatility and incisiveness, this dissertation analyzes six of his novels for their rhetorical significance, understood as both an organization of tropes and figures and as a system of persuasive doctrine. A new definition for allegory is proposed, the introductions of thematic and structural "blanks" is examined, and a spread of narrative delays are identified and discussed, all concerned with the central problem of writing novels that direct themselves to the resurrection of a pre-linguistic universe, yet ironically depend more and more upon writing to bring this about. Ideas drawn from Continental philosophy and recent critical theory are incorporated for support and instruction. Attention is also focused on Lawrence's revision processes, often with specific emphasis on unpublished manuscript material.

ENGLSIH ABSTRACT: This study is a political biography of D.F. Malan (1874–1959), the first of the apartheid-era Prime Ministers, and covers the years 1874 to 1954, when Malan retired from politics. It endeavours to provide a warts-and-all account of D.F. Malan which challenges prevalent myths and stereotypes surrounding his public persona and his political orientation. While the overwhelming focus is on Malan’s political career, special attention is paid to his personal life in order to paint a multi-faceted picture of his character. The biography is written in the form of a seamless narrative and employs a literary style of writing. It is based on archival research which utilised Malan’s private collection, as well as the private collections of his Nationalist contemporaries. Malan takes the centre stage at all times, as the biography focuses on his perceptions and experiences. Malan’s views regarding Afrikaner nationalism, which was his foremost political priority, are described, and are related to his views of British imperialism as well as other ideologies such as communism and totalitarianism. This study demonstrates that there is a notable link between Malan’s perceptions of race relations and his concerns about the poor white problem. It reveals that Malan’s racial policy was, to some extent, fluid, as were his views on South Africa’s constitutional position. Debates about South Africa’s links to Britain and the nature of the envisioned republic preoccupied Afrikaner nationalists throughout the first half of the twentieth century – and served as an outlet for regional and generational tensions within the movement. Malan’s clashes with nationalists such as Tielman Roos, J.B.M. Hertzog and J.G. Strijdom are highlighted as an indication of the internecine power struggles within the National Party (NP). By emphasising these complexities, this study seeks to contribute to a nuanced understanding of the South African past.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie is politieke biografie van D.F. Malan (1874–1959), die eerste van die apartheid-era Eerste Ministers, en dek die jare 1874 tot 1954, toe Malan uit die politiek getree het. Dit poog om onversuikerde beeld van Malan te skets wat heersende mites en stereotipes aangaande sy openbare beeld en sy benadering tot die politiek uitdaag. Die fokus is hoofsaaklik op Malan se politieke loopbaan, maar besondere aandag word aan sy private lewe geskenk om sodoende veelsydige portret van sy karakter te skilder. Die biografie is in die vorm van naatlose narratief geskryf en maak van literêre skryfstyl gebruik. Dit is gebaseer op argivale navorsing, waartydens daar van D.F. Malan se privaat versameling gebruik gemaak is, sowel as die privaat versamelings van sy tydgenote. Malan is ten alle tye die sentrale figuur en die biografie fokus op sy persepsies en ervarings. Malan se denke oor Afrikaner nasionalisme, wat sy vernaamste prioriteit was, word beskryf en in verband gebring met sy opinie van Britse imperialisme, sowel as ander ideologieë soos kommunisme en totalitarisme. Die studie wys op die verband tussen Malan se denke oor rasseverhoudinge en sy besorgdheid oor die armblanke vraagstuk. Dit dui daarop dat Malan se rassebeleid tot sekere mate vloeibaar was. Dit was ook die geval met sy benadering tot Suid-Afrika se konstitusionele posisie. Afrikaner nasionaliste het tydens die eerste helfte van die twintigste eeu baie aandag geskenk aan debatte oor Suid-Afrika se verhouding tot Brittanje en die aard van die voorgenome republiek. Abstract:

The Washington, D.C. Center for Filmmaking is placed in the middle of a growing area of different uses, on the block bordered by 8th, 9th G and H streets. Across G street, the old Patent Office now houses the national Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery. Churches, schools, and other buildings for study exist in the blocks directly surrounding the proposed buildings and the Martin Luther King Library. The Washington Convention Center and Techworld allow space for large exhibitions and trade shows. Also, office space and the shops and restaurants of Chinatown are just one block east. Access to the site by Metro is across G street at the Gallery Pace Metro stop. The Center for Filmmaking addresses the street with commercial store-fronts of shops or restaurants, accessible from the street as well as from the interior gathering space. The building attempts to embrace the framework of the city openly. The main entry into the gathering space is off the major street of the site, 9th Street. Service access is off of the least traveled street, 8th Street.

The aim of this thesis is to determine the value of Nutrend D.S., a.s. referring to 31st December 2015. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part consists of methodology and theoretical basis, that are used in the practical part afterwards. Before the valuation itself, strategic and financial analysis are included, which are followed by financial plan for the next years. For the purposes of valuation, the discounted cash flow method based on free cash flow to the firm was applied. For comparison, the book value of company was used as minor method.

Abstract:

This Master Thesis is engaged in Interactive TV standard. In the first chapter a general digital TV question and it's benefits are adumbrated. Next chapter deals with Interactivity for digital TV itself. More on possibilities of data security and protection during the transmission throught the reversal channel are discussed. The main part of the Thesis deals with developing an application enabling to obtain a statistical data from televiewers throught a set-top box connected to the Internet. The application is conceived as an universal enquiry, that obtains it's data via a reversal channel and is able to present the gained data in an attractive way. Java and PHP programming languages were applied to create the application and MySQL database with easy edit system is used to store the needed data. Specially designed security libraries based on XTEA cipher are used to enable protected communication.
