In this paper, optimal location of Static Series Voltage Regulator (SSVR),a member of D-FACTS devices family, for voltage improvement and loss reduction in distribution system, is implemented. A simple and modified method for node and line identification used in load flow calculations for solving radial distribution network is presented. In order to minimize line losses of power systems, it is crucially important to define the location of SSVR to be placed in the given distribution system. BACKGROUND: The anatomy of small saphenous vein (SSV) is very variable because of its complex embryological origin. SSV incompetence often causes reflux that goes to the perforating veins, sometimes not respecting the anatomical course. OBJECTIVE: To analyze differences in reflux direction and reentry in the SSV. METHODS: In this prospective, observational study, 60 lower limbs with SSV incompetence of 43 patients were assessed using a color Doppler ultrasound protocol. RESULTS: Reentry variations were grouped into four types and subtypes. Percentage results were: Type A, perforating veins on

The optical bandgap first increases from 4.43 to 4.56 eV and then decreases to 3.31 eV with the increasing V content. Although several algorithms have been proposed in the literature to address the problem, the research continues because it is NP-hard. AbstractVat photopolymerization (VP) additive manufacturing (AM) is valued for its speed, precision, and material versatility. However, its requirement for support structures limits printable geometries, complicates post‐processing, and generates non‐recyclable waste when typical thermoset resins are used. Here, a wavelength‐selective resin system for VP that enables single‐vat, multi‐material printing with dissolvable supports is introduced. Exposure to visible light produces a rigid, dissolvable thermoplastic, while UV light forms a crosslinked thermoset resistant to dissolution. This proces

Abstract:
Introduction: Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) patients with lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and higher proteinuria are at a higher risk for end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) and their prognosis is still unclear. We aim to develop and validate prognostic models in IgAN patients with CKD stage 3 or 4 and proteinuria≥1.0 g/d. Methods: Patients who came from Xijing Hospital, spanning December 2008 to January 2020 were divided into training and test cohorts randomly, with a ratio of 7:3, achieving ESKD and death as study endpoints. Saphenopopliteal junction classification has been developing, but still the precise knowledge of junction type is crucial for proper surgical treatment. We examined the saphenopopliteal junction by duplex venous scanning in 244 extremities in healthy volunteers (median age: 23.0 years, 83 females, 39 male) and performed a meta-analysis of 13 studies focusing on structural types of the junction. According to Schweighoffer’s classification we distinguished 5 types of the junction and we subdivided type A according to Cavezzi’s classification of gastrocnemial veins termination into two. Abstract This paper investigates the impact of the oil (silicone oil PSF-5cSt) presence in the air on the leakage and rotordynamic characteristics of a long-honeycomb seal with length-to-diameter ratio L/D = 0.748 and diameter D = 114.656 mm. Tests are carried out with inlet pressure Pi = 70.7 bars, pressure ratio (PR) = 0.35 and 0.25, inlet liquid volume fraction (LVF) = 0%, 3.5%, and 7%, and shaft speed ω = 10, 15, and 20 krpm. During the tests, the seal is centered. Test results show that leakage mass flow rate m˙ increases (as expected) as inlet LVF increases. Increasing inlet LVF makes di

Abstract This paper proposes a robust vibration controller design for active suspension system of in-wheel-motor-driven electric vehicles (IWMD-EVs) based on unified μ-synthesis framework. First, multiple parameter uncertainties and unmodeled high-order dynamics of the suspension are analyzed and discussed. By applying the mixed uncertainties and linear fraction transformation, model perturbations are separated from the suspension system and their perturbation bounds can also be limited. Then, the uncertain quarter-vehicle active suspension model with dynamic damping in-wheel-motor-driven syst

Abstract Modern turbomachinery favors pocket damper seals (PDS) which produce more effective damping than labyrinth seals (LS). Liquid tolerant compressors enable deep sea oil and gas (O&G) facilities; and seals supplied with a two-phase flow, can have an impact on the stability and leakage of O&G turbomachinery. This paper details results for the leakage and force coefficients of a stepped shaft PDS and LS. The seals operate with speeds up to 5,250 rpm and pressure ratios (inlet/exit) = 2.5 to 4.2. The seals are supplied an oil in air mixture with liquid volume fraction (LVF) up to 10

Abstract Background Sugarcane is the most important sugar crop, contributing > 80% of global sugar production. High sucrose content is a key target of sugarcane breeding, yet sucrose improvement in sugarcane remains extremely slow for decades. Molecular breeding has the potential to break through the genetic bottleneck of sucrose improvement. Dissecting the molecular mechanism(s) and identifying the key genetic elements controlling sucrose accumulation will accelerate sucrose improvement by molecular breeding. Introduction: Acute respiratory disease, Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious and potentially fatal respiratory disease. Increase in the inflammatory response, hypoxia, immobilisation are suggested mechanisms of procoagulant state. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary emboli are common and often silent. Venous duplex ultrasound help in determination of the presence, extent, age of the thrombus and its attachment to venous wall. Aim: To evaluate the prevalence of DVT by colour doppler ultrasound in lower limbs of mild to severe clinical categories of COVID-19 patients. Mater
