Abstract:
The significant discrepancy between the slope of the pyramidion found at Dahshur and the slope of the Red Pyramid, beside which it was found, suggests that this pyramidion might have been planned for another pyramid. Study of surviving pyramidia and the evidence provided by the other pyramids in the area seem to point to the second stage of the construction of the Bent Pyramid as its original destination.

The article investigates the design and the purpose of the Upper chamber of the Bent Pyramid of Sneferu. The author proves that the Upper chamber was a false tomb of the Pharaoh. The chamber served as bait for thieves and was designed to kill them with carbon dioxide in the confined space. Repetitive "reconstructions" of the chamber were performed to reduce the volume of air suitable for breathing. The portcullis, when triggered, ensured the airtightness of the chamber. The article establishes the connection between the ways of the portcullis conjugation in the Sneferu Pyramid and a modern lab

Summary References to Thoth in New Kingdom epigraphy in the Middle Kingdom precinct of Senwosret III at Dahshur include two case studies: a literary dipinto and a depiction of an ibis. The fragmentary text might have contained a hymn to the god of writing, or a text resembling eulogy of the scribal profession. Alongside Kemyt, it attests to an emphasis on literacy and specialist knowledge. An image of Thoth articulated the allegiance to the patron of scribes. According to the communis opinio, prince Kawab is a son of Cheops. This assumption is primarily based on G. A. Reisner’s conclusions about the location of mastabahs and queen’s pyramids in the East Field and on three relief fragments from mastabah G 7110/20, which W. S. Smith ingeniously assigned to a scene naming Kawab and his mother Meretites. Early after G. A. Reisner had published the first part of his view on the history of the royal family of the Fourth Dynasty, substantial critique was brought forward by W. Federn.
