Abstract:

Abstract:
IntroductionDiffuse axonal injury (DAI) detected on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be useful to predict outcome after traumatic brain injury (TBI).MethodsThis study compared the ability of the International Mission for Prognosis and Analysis of Clinical Trials (IMPACT) prognostic model with DAI on MRI, to predict 18 months neurological outcome in 56 patients who had required a decompressive craniectomy after TBI.Of the 56 patients included in the study (19 scans occurred within 14 days; median time for all patients 24 days, interquartile range 14–42), 18 (32%) had evidence of DAI on the MRI scans. The presence of DAI on the MRI diffusion-weighted (DW), T2*-weighted-gradient echo and susceptibility-weighted (SWI) sequences was associated with an increased risk of unfavourable outcome at 18 months compared to those without DAI (44% vs. 17%, difference=27%, 95% confidence interval 2.4%–46.7%; p=0.032), particularly when brainstem was involved. However, neither the grading (I to IV) nor the number of brain regions with DAI was as good as the IMPACT model in discriminating between patients with unfavourable and favourable outcome (area under the receiver-operating-characteristic curve: 0.625 and 0.621 vs 0.918, respectively; p<0.001 for both comparisons). After adjusting for the IMPACT prognostic risks, DAI in different brain regions and the grading of DAI were also not independently associated with unfavourable outcome.ConclusionThe prognostic significance of DAI on MRI may, in part, be captured by the IMPACT prognostic model. More research is needed before MRI should be routinely used to prognosticate outcomes of patients with TBI requiring decompressive craniectomy.

Abstract:

Abstract:
As one of the most representative modern poets in China, Dai Wangshu not only contributs a lot to the development of the modern Chinese poetry, but also plays an important role in introducing western poetics to China. Dai’s translation of western poetry has a profound influence on his poetic creation. Dai, throughout his poetic career, was at first influenced by the French romanticism, then was fascinated by the French symbolism and post-symbolism. The years of Disaster, a collection of poems in his later years, however, demonstrates an inclination to the Spanish modernist poetry, especially to the poems of Federico García Lorca, one of the most representative poets of the Generation of 27. This paper focuses on analyzing the characteristics of the works of these two poets, Dai Wangshu and Lorca, and is intended to make a comparative study of the affinities and similarities in their poetic beliefs and practice and the Lorca’s deep influences on Dai’s poetic creation, thus filling the blank in this field.

Abstract:
Alternaria blight in mustard cause heavy damage to the foliar parts resulting into poor growth and development of plants and thereby reduces seed yield. Inorder to manage Alternaria infestation in mustard seed for yield maximization, an experiment was conducted in the plant protection laboratory in Nepal Polytechnic Institute, Bharatpur, Chitwan in 2018, using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replicates. Five treatments i.e.Uthane M-45 (2g/kg), Neem powder (3 g/kg), Bojho powder (4g/kg), Trichoderma harzianum, (107 Conidia/mL) and control (without treatment) were used for seed treatment of local variety of Mustard. Four hundred seeds for each treatment (25 seeds in each petriplate) were plated using triple layers of moistened blotter paper in petriplate and incubated at (27±20C) for 2 days and followed deep freezing for 24 hrs. Data of disease incidence and seed germination were recorded in 3, 7 and 10 days after incubation (DAI). Seedling vigor and seedling weight were also recorded at 5 DAI. The percentage of Alternaria spp incidence on seeds at different DAI showed highly significant with respect to different treatments. Application of Uthane M-45 and T. harzianum significantly reduced the seed-borne infection of Alternaria spp. as compared to control. At 3 DAI Uthane M-45 completely checked the pathogen however, only 4% and 5% disease incidence was observed in 7 DAI and 10 DAI respectively. Bio control agent Trichoderma harzianum was found next best alternative after Uthane M-45 to control disease. Plant extract Bojho powder and Neem powder were found better than control to check the disease. Furthermore, highest germination (76%) was observed in Trichoderma treatment whereas, lowest germination was found in control.

Abstract:
The ability of fungicides to control Colletotrichum crown rot of strawberry caused by C. gloeosporioides was examined over three seasons. A single application of each fungicide was made 2 days before inoculation (2 DBI) or 1 day after inoculation (1 DAI) with conidial suspensions of C. gloeosporioides. The proportion of plants collapsed on one date at the end of each season was evaluated. In a combined analysis, there was a significant fungicide treatment-season interaction (P = 0.004). Percent mortality was 64% over 3 years in control plots that were inoculated with C. gloeosporioides but not treated with fungicide. Captan applied 2 DBI consistently reduced plant mortality (mean mortality = 17%). However, it was not as effective when applied 1 DAI (mean mortality = 46%). Azoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin, and thiophanate-methyl all reduced plant mortality relative to the control if applied 2 DBI (mean mortality = 46% for azoxystrobin, 37% for pyraclostrobin, and 41% for thiophanate-methyl) or 1 DAI (mean mortality = 29% for azoxystrobin, 27% for pyraclostrobin, and 32% for thiophanate-methyl). Results indicated that these fungicides were more effective when applied 1 DAI; however, lower plant mortality was not always observed with postinoculation applications. Cyprodinil + fludioxonil reduced mortality relative to the control, but there was no consistent evidence that it was more effective when applied at 2 DBI (mean mortality = 39%) than when applied 1 DAI (mean mortality = 40%). Similarly, mortality in plots treated with thiram 2 DBI (mean mortality = 30%) or 1 DAI (mean mortality = 32%) was not different. Potassium phosphite did not affect mortality, regardless of the timing of application (2 DBI mean mortality = 61%, 1 DAI mean mortality = 67%). The results indicated that an effective strategy for controlling Colletotrichum crown rot caused by C. gloeosporioides should be based on weekly applications of captan throughout the growing season. Azoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin, or thiophanate-methyl applications should be applied when weather conditions are highly favorable for disease development and the activity of contact fungicides such as captan or thiram might be compromised.

Abstract:
IntroductionBetween 25–50% of psychiatric patients are non-compliant with their pharmacological treatment. When differences between compliant and non-compliant patients were analyzed, differences were found in relation to their beliefs and feelings about medication. The Drug Attitude Inventory (DAI) was created to measure attitudes towards medication in adults. It predicted adherence in schizophrenia and depression studies.ObjectiveDetermine if psychotherapeutic and psychoeducational activities – during a partial hospitalization at the Psychiatric Day Hospital – can improve aspects related to feelings and thoughts about medication.MethodWe gathered retrospectively a sample of 151 patients hospitalized at the Psychiatric Day Hospital, from September 2013 to June 2015. Their thoughts and feelings about medication were measured with the DAI before and after the hospitalization. From the sample of 151 patients, 94 completed both tests, excluding who did not have the final DAI score. Differences between initial and final scores were statistically analyzed with the Wilcoxon test for paired samples.ResultsOf the 94 patients who completed the study, 52 showed an improvement in their DAI score, whereas the remaining 27 showed an equal or decreased final DAI compared to initial evaluation. The difference was statistically significant (P ≤ 0.05).ConclusionIt seems that psychoeducational activities related to medication are important in order to reconsider or modify feelings and thoughts about treatment. Information on medication provided to psychiatric patients (to those who need psychopharmacological treatment), carried out in a group context, which facilitates an open and sincere communication, can be a useful strategy to improve compliance with treatment.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Background: Cultured Cordyceps militaris is very popular. Objective: To gain dynamic insight into activity markers in fruiting body of Cordyceps militaris (C. militaris) in Bombyxmori (B. mori), also named silkworm. Methods: The development stages of samples at 3, 9, 12, 19, 27, and 33 days after inoculation (DAI) were collected. HPLC coupled with diode array detection and evaporative light-scattering detection method (HPLC–DAD–ELSD) was used to determine eight makers, including six nucleosides and two carbohydrates from the samples. Results: C. militaris cultured 33 DAI with fifth star silkworm larva could accumulate higher levels of cordycepin (13.43 mg/g) than the highest reported cordycepin (8.57 g/L). The contents of cordycepin, adenosine, and trehalose were gradually increased with the formation of C. militaris fruiting bodies on silkworm larva, while mannitol was decreased. The change of guanosine was similar to uracil. Conclusions: Results suggested that mannitol could be accumulated in a short period during mycelium growth and could metabolize and transform into energy store and trehalose during fruit body formation. The inosine in the insect was completely utilized and transformed. The synergistic formation of cordycepin and adenosine or differences in metabolized pathways are a great possibility according to the same trend. Highlights: This research offered some reference to further find a certain regularity or metabolic mechanism.

Abstract:
Objectives To determine the relationship between alcohol consumption and the incidence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) with diffuse axonal injury (DAI), determining these indices, checking acquired comorbidities and characterizing the patients by gender, age and race/color, as well as describing the characteristics of the motor vehicle collision (vehicle, period of the day, day of the week and site) in people admitted to an emergency hospital in the city of Teresina, in the state of Piauí, Brazil. Methods We have analyzed the data contained in the medical records of patients admitted with a history of motor vehicle collision and severe TBI in intensive care units, based on the forms provided by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU, in the Portuguese acronym) in the period between February 28 and November 28, 2013. Results In the period covered by the present study, 200 individuals were analyzed, and 54 (27%) had consumed alcohol; of these 11 had DAI. Of the total sample, 17% (34) presented DAI, however, with unknown data regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Conclusion Considering the data, we observed that the profile of the head trauma patients are brown men, mostly (53.5%) aged between 15 and 30 years. The collisions occurred mostly on weekends and at night (55%), and 89.5% of the crashes involved motorcycles.

Abstract:
Is it necessary to question the religions to understand contemporary world? As the holy TV Canção Nova talks to a season that has its own sacred: the money? All the research effort of this text was intended to answer these two questions. For this, the study tried to understand, in church electronics history, how is the dialogue between the sacred - and how narratives are used as a religious fetish, aiming to erase the materiality of the means by which they are transmitted. Moreover, the history of Catholic political communication points to the logic of master and slave. Even if there is negation of capitalism, he ends up being claimed by religious media practice and the result is an ambiguity between the affirmation and negation of the sacred contemporary. This ambiguity is seen in the history of TV Canção Nova and his programming, and is narrated by the characters that make the Catholic Church: priests and faithful who consume the media Catholicism of TV Canção Nova.

This paper proposes a reading of the qînh (\"elegy\") that David wrote in honor of Saul and Jonathan (2 Samuel 1: 17-27). Begins with research of this genre within the Hebrew Bible, identifying the main features of it and comparing it to related genres in an attempt to understand its social function in biblical times and find possible reasons for its reduced presence in the Hebrew Bible. Also notes how this lament becomes evident traits of the character David, which enhances understanding of the reports contained in the books of Samuel, which tell his ascension to the throne and his reign. Finally, it presents an analysis of the chosen poem and the narrative space in which it emerges.

The reflections that follow have photography as their main focus. They come from questions raised during the creative process of my work. Starting with the appropriation of photographs of the 20th century up to approximately the fifties, I tried to observe the structures and systems of representations in the portraits of groups of people, especially the family groups. The result was presented in an exhibition within the program Temporada de Projetos in the Paço das Artes in the University of São Paulo in May 2004. The text that follows is the fruit of the interchange between the photographic performance, image analysis and theoretical reflexions. In the development of my work, photography was approached rising from different aspects such as: one that investigates the photographic language as a system of grasping and production of images; the other sees is photography a means of thinking about man inscribed in his times; and still the other discovers in the portraits a representation, more than just a mirror of reality.

Abstract:
This dissertation examines how the major television networks, in conjunction with the Reagan administration, launched a lingering cloud of nuclear anxiety that helped to revive the Cold War during the 1980s. Placed within a larger political and cultural post-war context, this national preoccupation with a global show-down with the Soviet Union at times both hindered and bolstered Reagan’s image as the archetypal conservative, cowboy President that could free America from its liberal adolescent past now caustically referred to as “the sixties.” This stalwart image of Reagan, created and carefully managed by a number of highly-paid marketing executives, as one of the embodiment of peaceful deterrence, came under attack in the early 1980s when the “liberal” Nuclear Freeze movement showed signs of becoming politically threatening to the staunch conservative pledging to win the Cold War at any cost. And even if the nuclear freeze movement itself was not powerful enough to undergo the Herculean task of removing the President in 1984, the movement was compassionate enough to appeal to a mass audience, especially when framed in narrative form on network television. In the early 1980s, debates over the possibility of nuclear war and other pertinent Cold War related issues became much more democratized in their visibility on the network airwaves. However, the message disseminated from the networks was not placed in an educational framework, nor did these television productions clarify complicated nuclear issues such as nuclear winter theory and proliferation. I argue this renewed network attention on nuclear issues was not placed in an historical framework and likely confused American viewers because it routinely exposed audiences to both fact and fiction, undifferentiated at the level of the mass media.

This thesis will deal with matters related to diffusion, organization and cataloguing of the Centro de Memória das Artes (CMA) collection, a project of musical documentation of the Nucleo de Pesquisa em Ciências da Performance em Música (NAP-CIPEM) from FFCLRP- USP by means of musical archival management directives. CMA is a deposit for various regional works from the 19th and 20th century where most of these primary sources are unique. We will describe, after data gathering and contextualization, what composes the collection and the main operating difficulties in order for it to have internationalization competence, enabling interfacing between its primary sources through virtual means to make it more accessible to a greater public of interested people, inside and outside of Brazil. Considering the state of Brazilian music sources and analysing the operation method of sponsors of this kind of documentation in the country, we surveyed practices from these institutions to bring it to CMA\'s reality. Besides developing the proposal, we address reflections on the Serviço de Edição e Difusão de Partituras (SEDP), another project from NAP-CIPEM, for its integration to CMA.

This if evidences for him to demonstrate concern with the rules that would have to be followed in relation to this disposal of the words when presenting the quarrel of its time between analogists and anomalists as for the analogy to exist or not in the scope of the language, more necessarily in the scope of the processes of formation of words in Latin.

Abstract:
This is a descriptive-explanatory and exploratory research about the relationship between Tourism and regional development that presents the LPS Tour analysis model and that was worked out taking its basis elements of theoretical references from economics, geography, sociology, administration, communication, anthropology and Tourism. The objective is to show if it is possible to accomplish regional development through Tourism. A region is a territorial context delimitated by geographical, economic, and political criteria. It is taken into consideration that the general model of Local Productive System of Tourism LPS, a especific cathegory of cluster, has limitations to the analysis and management of Tourism. For this reason, the LPS Tour Local Productive System of Tourism - particular model of analysis - is developed. The LPS model is structured in the economic, cultural, and organizational dimensions. The regional development elements in the economic dimension are: spatial delimitation; intra-regional dissimilarities; externalities; environmental sustainability; and social inclusion. The Tourism elements circumscribed in the economic dimension are: supply and demand; performance; prioritization; exportation; productive circuit; extra-regional interactivity; and accessibility. In the cultural dimension, the elements that stand out are: historical aspects; collections and incentives; esthetics; products and attractions; animation; and motivation and satisfaction of the community. In the organizational dimension, we have the following elements: power and stock capital; systemic management; divulgation and image; marketing and commercialization; planning; entrepreneurship and innovation; and knowledge. The test of the LPS Tour model was performed applying it to the Região das Hortênsias (Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil) (The Hydrangeas Region), that is formed by the municipal districts of Gramado, Canela, Nova Petrópolis, and São Francisco de Paula. Based on the panel of indicators of the dimensions elements of the LPS Tour model, it is possible to verify that Tourism contributes to the regional development because it accomplishes the ingression, production and distribution of richness. However, for a region to develop economically through Tourism, an adequate management of its dimensions and elements is necessary, aiming at the accomplishment of the LPS Tour indicators. The LPS Tour model is an adequate instrument to diagnose and to identify opportunities of improvement of the tourist activity, as a polarizer or as an alternative to regional development.

Abstract:
\"The future today: the Radiojournalism education in the age medias\' convergence\" arises from the emergence of a new think about the training process of students university, in the current context, they are prepared to act as journalists in radio stations that have crossed the border of electromagnetic waves and settled also on the Internet, which offer audio content that converge with other media expressivity. This work, which is supported in Communication/Education interface, assumed the purpose of analyzing the occurrence, in the process of training in Radiojournalism, actions that link the theoretical/practical content ministered by medias\' converge. The distancing between the training and the reality came as a hypothesis and the possible lack of activities relating the Radiojournalism and the medias\' convergence. The methodology was based on a literature review, interviews and case studies, that verified training in Radiojournalism in journalism courses offered by leading universities in Brazil and Portugal, which were, respectively: the Departamento de Jornalismo e Editoração da Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo (CJE - ECA/USP) and the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCSH/UNL). After undertake verification proposed, this study found that the media\'s convergence don\'t appear integrated with theoretical actions / promoted practices by the disciplines in Brazil and Portugal. Meantime it has become evident, in the training processes, the occurrence of technological convergence and content. It was concluded that such a finding allows enlarging in part the students the reality in which the Radio Journalism remains established. On the other hand, the lack of proposals exploiting the medias\' convergence of in the subjects characterized as unfavorable to the formation by don\'t provide to students, knowledge of this phenomenon enhanced by the presence and integration of media in the digital environment.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to analyze the Northeastern portraits that Graciliano Ramos published in the magazine Cultura Política [Political Culture], the main publication of Estado Novos Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda [New States Department of Press and Propaganda], or DIP, from March 1941 to May 1943. Given the material nature of such writings, that is, the fact that they were publicized in a specific time and editorial medium, we seek to examine their (consonant and dissonant) effects on the official publication, as well as the strategies used by the artist to move about on a political minefield during the regime initiated in 1937. As it is inferred from the analysis of the very texts and from the cultural debates in which they took part, it can be noticed that the writer, at that moment, seemed to be balancing on a razors edge: if, on the one hand, he was urged to cooperate, on the other, his fear of committing himself to the postulates of the dictatorship is perceived in the topics he selected and in the genre and style he adopted in his Quadros e costumes do Nordeste [Northeastern portraits and customs] (title of the section in which such texts were initially printed). At the same time, expanding the corpus of Graciliano Ramos writings, this study also makes available, as an appendix, a proposal for editing 58 texts by the author, not yet published in book, gathered during our fieldwork in various Brazilian archives. They consist of chronicles, articles, letters, speeches and even an excerpt of a play, still unknown to the general public, which help to delineate a more accurate profile of the artist and his work as a whole.

Flooding Events Post Hurricane Harvey: Potential Liability for Dam and Reservoir Operators and Recommendations Moving Forward. Edited by Gabriel Eckstein. Abstract:
When Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast as a category 4 hurricane on August 25, 2017, it resulted in $125 billion in damage, rivaling only Hurricane Katrina in the amount of damage caused. It also resulted in the deaths of 88 people and destroyed or damaged 135,000 homes. Much of that devastation was the result of flooding. The storm dumped over 27 trillion gallons of rain over Texas in a matter of days. Some parts of Houston received over 50 inches of rainfall. The potential liability that dam and reservoir operators may face for decisions they make during storm and flooding events has now become a major concern for Texas citizens and its elected officials. Law suits have now been instituted against the federal government for its operation of two flood control reservoirs, as well as against the San Jacinto River Authority for its operation of a water supply reservoir. Moreover, the issues and concerns have been placed on the agenda of a number of committees preparing for the 2019 Texas legislative session. This report reviews current dam and reservoir operations in Texas and examines the potential liability that such operators may face for actions and decisions taken in response to storm and flooding events. In Section III, the report reviews dam gate operations and differentiates between water supply reservoirs and flood control reservoirs. It also considers pre-release options and explains why such actions are disfavored and not recommended. In Section IV, the report evaluates liabilities and defenses applicable to dam and reservoir operators. It explains how governmental immunity can limit the exposure of state and federally-run facilities to claims seeking monetary damages. It also discusses how such entities could be subject to claims of inverse condemnation, which generally are not subject to governmental immunity, under Texas law as well as under the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In addition, the Section discusses negligence and nuisance claims and concludes that plaintiffs asserting either or both of these claims will have difficulty presenting successful arguments for flooding-related damage and harm against operators who act reasonably in the face of storm-related precipitation. Finally, Section V offers recommendations that dam and reservoir operators might pursue in order to engage and educate the public and thereby reduce the potential for disputes and litigation. Specifically, the report highlights the need for expanded community outreach efforts to engage with municipalities, private land owners, and the business community in flood-prone neighborhoods both below and above a dam. It also recommends implementation of proactive flood notification procedures as a way of reaching and alerting as many people as possible of potential and imminent flooding events. Finally, the report proposes implementation of a dispute prevention and minimization mechanism and offers recommendations for the design and execution of such a program.
