Nel contributo sono esaminati alcuni documenti dell'Archivio di Stato di Catania riguardanti diversi aspetti della storia dell'ars aromataria siciliana tra la fine del Quattrocento e gli inizi dell'Ottocento. Questi documenti, infatti, mettono in luce il funzionamento di un'aromateria di Randazzo del XV secolo, permessi rilasciati dai Protomedici per esercitare la suddetta arte dal XVI al XVIII secolo, i farmaci presenti in due aromaterie di Biscari (oggi Acate) nel XVIII secolo, il vasellame commissionato nel XVIII secolo da speziali e commercianti del calatino a ceramisti di Caltagirone per riporvi i farmaci e le ricette prescritte per i poveri a Biscari nel XIX secolo.

Piccoli annunci, semplici cataloghi e carte da visita illustrate sono comuni nel '700, ma la pubblicit degli strumenti scientifici diventa assai pi sofisticata e aggressiva a partire dal XIX secolo. Si moltiplicano i cataloghi illustrati e ponderosi, gli annunci su riviste e trattati scientifici, mentre le esposizioni universali che costellano la seconda met dell'Ottocento e gli show room dei costruttori, rappresentano nuovi mezzi per propagandare gli strumenti e stimolarne il commercio. In questo articolo viene illustrata l'evoluzione delle varie forme di pubblicit utilizzate dai costruttori nel corso del XIX secolo ed analizzata l'influenza che esse hanno avuto sull'andamento del mercato degli strumenti scientifici e sullo sviluppo dell'industria di precisione.

La dismissione, la trasformazione e la valorizzazione delle fortificazioni costituiscono, anche per Napoli, temi trainanti nell'evoluzione urbana tra la seconda metŕ del XIX e la prima metŕ del XX secolo. Nella prima parte del saggio, incentrato sul periodo post-unitario, sono approfondite le motivazioni psicologiche, sociali ed economiche connesse all'annullamento di simboli "negativi" che conducono alla riconfigurazione di ampie parti urbane: a tale quadro d'insieme possono riferirsi gli interventi di tabula rasa effettuati sulla cinta bastionata circostante Castelnuovo dalla fine del XV secolo. Lo smantellamento dei bastioni e delle fabbriche di uso militare racchiuse nel recinto fortificato assume un ruolo centrale nella configurazione della cittŕ del Novecento e, con essa, della piazza Municipio, come confermano anche disegni di legge e dibattiti parlamentari avviati fin dal 1861. La seconda parte del saggio affronta le vicende delle mura aragonesi, che saranno oggetto di interventi di demolizione e trasformazione a partire dalla metŕ del XIX secolo, per giungere ad una fase di progressiva presa di coscienza del loro valore. Dall'apertura della nuova via dei Fossi fino alla liberazione di porta Capuana, si evidenzia il progredire di un atteggiamento che da una sostanziale condanna delle fortificazioni, intese come ostacoli all'espansione urbana, muove verso una loro valorizzazione, ancorché fondata sulla prassi dell'isolamento del "monumento", conducendo, come nel caso di porta Capuana, all'estraniazione di un ambiente stratificato da molti secoli.

Nel XIX secolo erano in vigore le prescrizioni riguardanti il digiuno, definite dopo il Concilio di Treto. In Quaresima i fedeli rinunciavano di mangiare la carne. Nal caso di una malattia oppure per un valido motivo essi ricorrevano ad una dispensa. Da essa pero, vevivano esclusi i quattro giorni della prima settimana, tutta la Settimana Santa nonche mercoledi, venerdi e sabato. Piu frequentemente permettevano di consumare i latticidi ed uova. Nell’Avvento le prescrizioni erano piu moderate. Vi era anche 1’astinenza dal mangiare la carne anche in tutti i sabati dell’anno. Verso la fine dei secolo, Roma autorizzava i vescovi del Regno Polacco ad una graduate abolizione dei digiuno nei sabati. Mantenevano pero esso nelle vigilie prima delle feste principali, nelle cosidette „giornate della croce” e „giornate trimestrali”. Sembra che i fedeli si tenevano precisamente alla legge ecclesiale. Alla dispensa ricorrevano piuttosto le persone dagli alti stati sociali. Essi si rivollgevano al Vescovo personalmente, oppure venivano dispensati dal proprio parroco sulla base del permesso del suo sueriore. Possiamo costatare che nel periodo del secolo, le leggi riguardanti il digiuno venivano moderate. Un cambio fondamentale porto il Codice dei Dritto Canonico del 1917. Ma anche allora le nuove leggi venivano introdotte gradualmente.

Nell’articolo si ripercorreranno sommariamente queste vicende, alcune delle quali già trattate dalla storiografia nella bibliografia riportata nelle note, altre invece approfondite dalle ricerche d’archivio dell’autore.

Tra la fine del XIX secolo e l'inizio del XX secolo, il continente americano diventò il polo di attrazione per milioni di persone che andarono oltreoceano non solo ver-so gli Stati Uniti ma anche per raggiungere l'America Latina. Il contributo mette in evidenza il caso particolare delle emigrazioni provenienti dal mondo arabo e diret-te in Messico. Nella prima parte dell'articolo, l'autore analizza le fonti che ci per-mettono di realizzare un'indagine rigorosa del fenomeno apportando numerosi dati a sostegno dello studio. Le fonti prese in esame comprendono: il Registro degli Stranieri, presente nell'Archivio Generale della Nazione (AGN), i censimenti dell'INEGI e il Direttorio Libanese del 1948. Nella seconda parte, si ricostruiscono i movimenti dei migranti all'interno della Repubblica Messicana in un periodo che va dal 1895 al 1950. L'articolo ha lo scopo di introdurre il lettore allo studio delle emigrazioni arabe in America Latina, tema poco presente nella storiografia italia-na, evidenziandone la rilevanza ed incoraggiando futuri progetti di ricerca sul fenomeno.

Riassunto Questo contributo tratta degli studi danteschi in lingua tedesca nel XIX secolo. Anche se tutta l’Europa riscopre Dante con entusiasmo a partire dal 1800, la Germania può essere considerata, insieme all’Italia, come il paese in cui ha inizio la ricerca scientifica sulla sua opera, sulla sua vita e sulla sua epoca e in cui si gettano le basi per gli studi del XX secolo. Attraverso l’analisi di alcuni studi significativi il saggio cerca di illustrare i principali temi e orientamenti della ricerca dantesca del periodo in lingua tedesca. Le ricerche sul contesto storico di Dante e l’analisi del suo pensiero politico si rivelano temi particolarmente importanti, ai quali vengono dedicati numerosi studi approfonditi.

Dopo tre anni di ricerche nei musei, negli osservatori astronomici, negli archivi, nelle biblioteche ed in altre collezioni pubbliche e private, ha scoperto 96 globi costruiti fra il XVII secolo e la fine del XIX. Si sottolinea l'importanza di queste liste per richiamare l'attenzione dei proprietari dei globi sulla necessit di proteggerli dai loro peggiori nemici: il degrado derivante dal tempo e, di uguale se non di maggior importanza, il danno provocato dall'incuria dell'uomo.

Nonostante gli sforzi dell’autore di sottrarre questa parte delle sue carte al pubblico, si sono conservate diverse migliaia di lettere che, accanto alla sua opera complessiva, rivestono un valore straordinario anche dal punto di vista letterario. Indispensabili sono le lettere per ricostruire la genesi dei suoi lavori, per comprenderne la qualita nella dialettica tra letteratura e scienza, per identificare i suoi scritti anonimi. Le sue corrispondenze con studiosi, nobili, politici, scrittori, artisti ed editori rappresentano nell’insieme un documento unico della storia politica e sociale, culturale e delle scienze nel XIX secolo e permettono di farsi un’idea concreta sulle vaste reti di contatto transnazionali non solo epistolari, ma anche personali, e sulle condizioni di lavoro di uno storico che svolgeva le sue attivita liberamente e in modo indipendente. Le sue corrispondenze, coprendo diversi decenni, mettono infine in luce i rapidi sviluppi che nella loro interazione contrassegnarono la storia italiana e tedesca dell’epoca.

The aim of this work is to contribute to antropological’ studies of Sardinia from late Neolithic (4000-3200 BCE) to 19th CE, in order to improve the knowledge of history and biological characteristic of the Sardinians.
The study of skeletal material has allowed to evaluate morphological changes in time and space, to determinate the variability within population and, when possible, to make comparisons with other past and recent populations.
Sardinian skeletal series with radiocarbon dates or from culturally well-defined archeological contexts have been studied. The osteometric measurements have been taken on adult’s bone, who had completed growth and who did not present evident pathological conditions.
Craniofacial morphometric variation has been used to obtain information on Sardinian population structure, to investigate the biological distance and to evaluate the possible congruence with the genetic data.
Biological relationships with populations of peninsular Italy and Europe, from Paleolithic to Modern period, have been also analysed to detect influences from and towards extra-Sardinian sources
The analysis is based on multivariate techniques including R-Matrix analysis, principal coordinate analysis, discriminant functional analysis and cluster analysis.
The results have showed a clear separation among Paleo-Meso-Neolithic populations and others more recent European populations. It has also noticed the tendency to a progressive differentiation between Sardinian groups and peninsular Italian groups with the possible exception of a discontinuity showed by the Bonnànaro (Early Bronze Age) Sardinian sample and the Sardinian Punic-Roman and Medieval samples. In fact, these groups show biological affinities with Italian coeval groups and a discontinuity with other Sardinian ancient populations. The morphological results are in agreement with the current genetics evidence for the present-day Sardinian population and ancient DNA of Sardinia sample. These data demonstrate a biological divergence between the Sardinian and peninsular Italian populations; similarity/continuity among Neolithic, Bronze Age and recent Sardinians; and a contribution of a Palaeo-Mesolithic gene pool to the genetic structure of current Sardinians
Stature variations in the Sardinian population from the Neolithic to the Modern period has been studied to evaluate the intensity of millennial changes. Analyses of stature variation in prehistoric and historical populations present considerable problems in the reliability of comparisons. To properly compare the results of different studies, it would be necessary to conduct a systematic review of the chronological and cultural contexts of the skeletal series used. Moreover, it would also be necessary to identify the most appropriate method to calculate stature values, since stature reconstruction formulae are specific for certain times and places. The Sardinian samples have showed two different trends for males and females. The results of Sardinian stature variations have been then compared with the values of coeval skeletal series reported in the literature for other Southern European countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal), in order to identify a common trend in millennial changes among the considered populations. The data collected and analyzed indicated that there are no conditions to reliably identify a common trend in millennial changes among the considered populations of southern Europe.
In conclusion, the analysis of morphometric characteristics of Sardinian skeletal series from Neolithic to 19th CE, suggest the reliability of a Sardinian biological continuity and their possible derivation from Western European Upper Paleolithic populations through Italian Neolithic samples. The analysis of stature data raise the issue of reliability of the estimated values and consequently the possibility of identifying a common trend in stature.

Augusto Righi fu senza dubbio uno dei migliori fisici italiani della sua epoca, soprattutto per la sua capacità di sperimentatore in ogni campo della fisica di quegli anni. Oltre a questo, è riconosciuto come un abile divulgatore e insegnante, con diversi strumenti inventati appositamente per le sue lezioni. Tra i documenti conservati presso l’archivio del dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia di Bologna sono presenti gli appunti originali del primo corso libero tenuto da Augusto Righi a Bologna: “Fenomeni fisici dell’atmosfera e fenomeni fisici del corpo umano”. In questa tesi vengono illustrati i contenuti di tale corso, mostrando come essi permettano di discutere l'uso della fotografia scientifica per scopi didattici e la creatività del Righi nell’utilizzare in modo non convenzionale strumenti pensati per altri scopi. Questi manoscritti del corso tenuto nell’ultimo decennio del XIX secolo non solo offrono un punto di vista privilegiato sulle modalità di insegnamento di Righi, ma anche un punto di partenza per l’analisi dell’insegnamento della fisica in Italia di fine ‘800 e del ruolo dell’Università di Bologna nel panorama scientifico italiano ed europeo.

Il proposito di questo studio, intitolato La difersa della basileuousa polis. gli assedi di Costantinopoli dal V al XII secolo. è quello di offrire un quadro completo degli assedi subiti da Costantinopoli dal V al XII secolo. La tesi è stata divisa in quattro capitoli, ognuno dei quali analizza un aspetto peculiare legato alla difesa.
Il primo capitolo è un catalogo degli assedi, redatto sulla base delle informazioni contenute nelle fonti cronachistiche non solo greche e latine ma anche armene, siriache, arabe e russe (consultate in traduzione).
Il secondo capitolo analizza le fortificazioni (le strutture ed il loro sviluppo storico), basandosi anche sul dato archeologico, oltre che su un esaustiva bibliografia.
Il terzo capitolo è un catalogo delle iscrizioni composto raccogliendo le epigrafi connesse alle varie fasi di costruzione e restauro delle fortificazioni.
Il quarto ed ultimo capitolo tratta invece due aspetti fondamentali della difesa:
a- la tecnologia militare
b-La guarnigione di costantinopoliThe purpose of this study, entitled “The Defense of Basileuousa Polis. The Sieges of Constantinople from 5th to 12th Century”, is to offer a detailed historical overview of the sieges that affected Constantinople from 5th to 12th century. This thesis has been divided in four chapters, each of which is concentrated on key aspects of the Byzantine Military Defense. The first chapter has been developed as a siege catalog, essentially based on the information contained in literary sources: firstly Greek and Latin sources, then Armenian, Syrian, Arabic and Russian (these last four types of extracts were read through English, French and Italian translations). It has been concluded that the capital of Eastern Roman Empire was attacked 27 times. The second chapter analyzes the fortifications (their structures and their historical development) relying on archaeological data, still present, and on an exhaustive bibliography. The third chapter is a catalog of inscriptions, and includes all the epigraphic evidences connected to the different build and repair phases of the fortified area of Constantinople. Unfortunately many of the inscriptions, reproduced and collected on this record, were lost. The only proof of their existence can be found in some scientific publications of the end of 19th century - beginning of 20th century, therefore they represent the only and the most precious sources for this subject. The fourth and last chapter deals with two fundamental aspects of the defense: 1- Military Technology, deduced from an accurate analysis of the sources: Chronicles and Military Treatises. 2- Constantinople’s Garrison analysis realized by combining the information contained in literary sources and byzantine seals.

Il madīḥ è un genere letterario che ha avuto grande diffusione e fortuna nella letteratura araba: consiste nell’elogio di una persona, di un gruppo, di un luogo… Il presente lavoro si concentra su quest’ultimo tipo e propone un’antologia di componimenti dedicati ad Aleppo – città siriana dalla storia plurimillenaria – inquadrandoli nel contesto storico e culturale dell’epoca a cui appartengono. Dalle opere dei numerosi autori presi in esame emerge il ritratto di una città che è cambiata nel tempo, pur mantenendo inalterati alcuni tratti caratteristici oggetto delle lodi ad essa rivolte: il clima favorevole, l’ospitalità offerta allo straniero, la capacità di risollevare l’animo di chi vi arrivava col cuore afflitto, il coraggio di sfidare il tempo... Nel corso dei secoli, da al-Mutanabbī – celeberrimo poeta della corte del principe hamdanide Sayf al-Dawla – a Nizār Qabbānī – forse il più famoso poeta arabo contemporaneo –, Aleppo ha esercitato il suo fascino sia su autori che lì sono nati sia su molti provenienti da diverse parti del mondo arabo. Negli ultimi anni il suo nome è stato associato spesso alla guerra che ha devastato la Siria. Questa ricerca – pur nella sua incompletezza – vuole renderle omaggio ripercorrendone la storia, una storia caratterizzata da epoche di grande splendore e momenti di declino, nella speranza che “il sole della fortuna” – riprendendo l’immagine di una poetessa di epoca ottomana – torni presto a splendere sulla sua Cittadella.

The close political, economical and cultural relations bounding Venice to the Eastern Mediterranean made the city the point of arrival of a great quantity of Greek sculptures and works of art. For this reason, it is hardly surprising that Venice had a primary role in the redistribution of these antiquities not only among the local collectors, but all over Italy and Europe. The great part of this heritage is nowadays dispersed in the museums and collections of several European countries (from Germany to Russia), and the main aim of this research has been the identification of all the ancient Greek sculptures arrived at Venice between the 12th and the fall of the Serenissima Republic in 1797. Once identified, they have been contextualised in their original historical and art-historical context, proposing a likely place of origin.
The collecting of antiquity was not simply a cultural phenomenon, and it should be interpreted in a wider perspective, considering even the economic context in which it took place. The developments in this realm were far more intimately linked to the political and social circumstances than was generally believed. For this reason, the medieval and modern records have been subjected to a in-depth examination, focusing on aspects such as the commercial relationships linking Venice to particular areas of the Levant. The regions where single merchants or single families had their interests are the place were more likely the ancient sculptures were imported to Venice, and - by consequence - it has been necessary to study issues as the Mediterranean trading routes.
The processing of these data made necessary the elaboration of a calibrated data base, named "Progetto Agave" (the acronym of "Arte greca a Venezia"), consisting in a census of all the ancient Greek sculptures arrived at Venice in the period under consideration. Thanks to the data base, it has been possible to reconstruct the various ways adopted by the urban elites for making use of these works of art in their self-representation strategies.

Attraverso un dettagliato excursus storico e politico, vengono ripercorse le fasi che hanno portato all'istituzione della biblioteca comunale, fino all'inaugurazione del nuovo centro culturale, prevista per la primavera del 2015. In particolare, la tesi si sofferma sulle origini della biblioteca di Portogruaro, nata da un nucleo di libri arrivati dallo United States Information Service di Trieste nel dopoguerra e conservati all'interno di uno dei due mulini di Portogruaro, che al tempo ospitava una biblioteca circolante. L'esame dei documenti inediti, il catalogo dei libri consegnati e il confronto con altre biblioteche USIS esistenti all'epoca rivela le le pratiche di amministratori locali e di privati cittadini nell'erogazione di servizi culturali.

Studio 1:3658 pazienti arruolati tra il 01-01-2001 ed il 31-12-2012 suddivisi in base alla data di diagnosi:2001-2004 (954 pazienti), 2005-2008 (1122 pazienti), 2009-2012 (1582 pazienti). Studio 2:analisi comparativa tra 756 pazienti con HCC-NAFLD e 611 pazienti con HCC-HCV. Studio 3:proposta di quattro modelli alternativi al BCLC originale con validazione di una proposta di sottostadiazione dell’intermedio, considerando 2606 pazienti arruolati tra il 01-01-2000 e il 31-12-2012 e riallocati secondo gradi diversi di perfomance status (PS). Studio 4:analisi di 696 pazienti con HCC in stadio intermedio diagnosticato dopo il 1999 stratificati per trattamento.
Risultati: studio 1:progressivo aumento dell’età alla diagnosi e delle eziologie dismetaboliche; più frequente esordio dell’HCC in stadio precoce e con funzione epatica più conservata; aumento della sopravvivenza dopo il 2008. Studio 2:i pazienti con HCC-NAFLD mostrano più frequentemente un tumore infiltrativo diagnosticato fuori dai programmi di sorveglianza, con prognosi peggiore rispetto ai pazienti HCC-HCV. Questa differenza di sopravvivenza si elimina rimuovendo i fattori di confondimento attraverso propensity analysis. Studio 3:il PS1 non è un predittore indipendente di sopravvivenza. Il modello 4 (considerando PS1=PS0 e con la sottostadiazione proposta), ha la migliore capacità discriminativa. Studio 4:i trattamenti curativi riducono la mortalità più della TACE, anche dopo propensity analysis.
Conclusioni: l’aumento delle patologie dismetaboliche comporterà diagnosi di malattia ad uno stadio più avanzato, quando sintomatica, rendendo necessario stabilire un programma di sorveglianza. This survival difference is eliminated by removing confounding factors through propensity analysis. Study 3: PS1 is not an independent predictor of survival. Model 4 (which considers PS0=PS1 and the proposed of substaging), has the best discriminative capacity. Studt 4: curative treatments reduce mortality more than TACE, even after propensity analysis. Conclusions: The widespread of metabolic diseases will involve an HCC diagnosis in a more advanced stage, when symptomatic, making it necessary to establish a screening program. The paper presents some examples of rural lordship in Southern Italy, mainly in Campania, using primary sources of different kind: public and private records, books of the Lord’s chancery, dossiers for the feudal relief, administrative correspondences. It seems that some characteristics of rural lordship of the high middle ages were present also in late middle and early modern Southern Italy: the seigneurial estates were heterogeneous, had no territorial continuity and passed frequently from a Lord to another; there were men who depended on a Lord although they were free and who had to give corvées (but receiving a payment) and symbolic honours to the Lord and to the King; there was still a connection between manorial dependence, fiscal exemption, and immigration.

The aim of this paper is to reassess the history of the Sanseverino family, princes of Bisignano in Calabria in the Late Middle Ages; by focusing on a specific and unpublished source: the so-called “reintegre or platee” as written in the first half of the 16th century. These are public sources mostly enlisting properties and benefits; they serve the purpose of re-possessing the privileges taken from the princes themselves over the previous century. The paper will therefore focus not only on the management and character of the seigneurial landholdings but also on the reconstruction of both the local networks of power exerted on the population and the local political system. It will shed new light on the still debated historiographical issue centered on the seigneurial authority in southern Italy by assessing its local rooting and pervasiveness since the 14th century.

In this paper we present the results obtained from the systematic investigation of the sub-series ‘Conti erariali dei feudi’ of the fund ‘Dipendenze della Sommaria’ preserved in the State Ar- chives of Naples. A reasoned analytical inventory is proposed, limited to the documentation re- lating to the period between 1421 and 1500, for a count of 58 envelopes and 212 dossiers. This is fiscal documentation that has flowed into the Archive of the Camera della Sommaria following the deliveries by the provincial administrators required to submit their work to the audit of the rational of the king, but also as a result of traumas and confiscations on fiefs by the sovereign.

In recent years, historiographical reflection has devoted more and more attention to the rela- tionship between the exercise of power and the processes of production/management of doc- uments, understood as real instruments of government, capable of guaranteeing the correct functioning of the administrative apparatus of kingdoms, principalities, republics and lord- ships, more or less extensive. The essay investigates one of the most important noble archives of the fifteenth-century Southern Italy, the archive of the Prince of Taranto, Giovanni Antonio Orsini del Balzo, which over time has been invested by a vast process of dispersion. The fundamental objective is to take stock of the most consistent core of documents, coming from the principality of Taranto, and merged into the fond of the Regia Camera della Sommaria of the Archivio di Stato of Naples.

In the way of thinking about urban morphology as a scalar product of the factors that influence each other, in particular building typology, local structure, overall structure and territory, and that contribute together to generate an organism, it is therefore possible to read this part of the historical center as the last product, but not definitive, of a "process". The reading method on the consolidated structure, later renovated in a post-unification era, is based on the analysis of the most abundant building typology and on the permanence and derivations of local typological processes that led to the formulation of the “line house” in nineteenth-century line, the predominant building type of roman expansion in nineteenth-twentieth century. The reading of the restructuring, understood as synchronic action on the historical center, has been implemented instead by the analysis of synchronic variations at “line house” through the research of all projects registered for the edification of each block. Thus we can see how the blocks resulting from the transformation, in the logic of a restructuring "contromaglia" like the one for the opening of Viale Trastevere, will be the result of the disconnection of the existing blocks in which the building type adopted has had to adapt to a lower return situations: a reading of a synchronic action on a diachronic process that gives us the modern morphological apparatus. Este trabalho investigou a percepção, preferência e sensação térmica de estudantes universitários em edificações de climas tropicais secos que operam por meio de ar-condicionado, nas cidades de Naviraí e Campo Grande-MS. Para isso foram realizadas medições de parâmetros físicos concomitante a coleta de informações sobre os espaços fornecidas por seus usuários através de questionários eletrônicos. Os dados coletados foram processados através de análises estatísticas. Como resultado verificou-se a falta de evidências para justificar os estreitos limites de temperatura operativa definidos pela normatização existente, além disso esta pesquisa fornece subsídios para a compreensão das questões térmicas da região.

The effect of the growth of winter wheat by 13.7 mm (9.33%), grown from pre-soaked seeds and irradiated with a dose of 2.7 J of combined laser radiation, was established. A similar radiation dose of 2.7 J of air-dry seeds caused an increase in the length of seedlings from 17.1 mm (11.03%) in the first experiment to 38.1 mm (39.42%) in the second experiment. It was shown that irradiation (MED-80, 160 and 300 mR / h) of 20-day-old seedlings of Phleum pratense, at doses of 0.07; 0.14; 0.28 Gy causes an increase in the pigment content 1 hour after irradiation in experimental plants.

Sensitive videos that may be inadequate to some audiences (e.g., pornography and violence, towards underages) are constantly being shared over the Internet. Employing humans for filtering them is daunting. The huge amount of data and the tediousness of the task ask for computer-aided sensitive videoanalysis, which we tackle in two ways. In the first one (sensitive-video classification), we explore efficient methods to decide whether or not a video contains sensitive material. In the second one (sensitive-content localization), we explore manners to find the moments a video starts and ceases to display sensitive content. Hypotheses are stated and validated, leading to contributions (papers, dataset, and patents) in the fields of Digital Forensics and Computer Vision.

A análise da forma e evolução urbanas é o caminho para a compreensão da própria cidade, e obriga
quase sempre a uma avaliação própria do que concerne ao método e ferramentas de análise, focada em
cada situação e descartando abordagens generalizadas. Cada espaço urbano pode ser contextualizado
em função da sua utilização e das práticas sociais. Demonstra-se como se podem usar ferramentas
complementares ao estudo da forma e evolução urbanas, em função da influência de uma determinada
indústria, no caso a das conservas, no desenho territorial. Para descodificar morfologicamente o espaço
urbano recorre-se a comparações e correlações entre 6 casos de estudo – Setúbal, Matosinhos,
Peniche, Espinho, Lagos e Portimão. Enquadram-se estes núcleos numa análise de fontes primárias e
análise estatística geral. A partir desta contextualização é possível sistematizar o problema e trabalhar
no encontro concreto de influências que uma qualquer actividade económica pode exercer sobre um
território específico. The analysis of urban shape and evolution is the way for the understanding the city and forces an
evaluation of the method and the analysis tools, focusing on each situation, avoiding generalized
approaches. Each urban space can be explained by its use and social practices. We demonstrate the use
of complementary tools for the study of urban shape and evolution, as a result of the influence of a
determined industry, specifically canning, in spatial design. To morphologically decode the urban space,
we resort to comparisons and correlations between 6 case studies - Setúbal, Matosinhos, Peniche,
Espinho, Lagos and Portimão. These clusters are analyzed by using primary sources and statistical
analysis. From this context it is possible to systematize the problem and find the influence that any
economic activity can exercise over a specific territory.

A 59 year-old white male with a life long history of severe bleeding following trauma or surgical procedures was documented to have a combined factor V and factor Vlll-C deficiency. His baseline factor V ranged between 16% - 30% and factor VIII-C was between 20% - 30%. His APTT ranged between 50 - 56 seconds (21-31 N) with a prothrombin time activity between 33% - 40% of normal ( ≥ 70% N). Factor II, Vll/X, X, IX, XI, XII, template bleeding time and platelet function studies were normal. There was no severe factor XIII deficiency. Since the response of these patients to DDAVP is unknown and the patient was admitted with a large hematoma in the subolecranon bursa, DDAVP was infused in a dose of 0.5 μ g/kg body weight over 15 minutes. The baseline factor VIIl-C of 20% rose to 55% at 5 minutes after termination of DDAVP and to 62% and 66% at 3 and 6 hours respectively. The factor VIII-C level dropped to 45% and 36% at 12 and 24 hours respectively after a single dose of DDAVP. As measured by a sensitive 125I-fibrin assay, this dose of DDAVP caused a net rise in plasminogen activator activity of 2.43 CTA U/ml.The patient had worn an inguinal truss for approximately 20 years for two large oblique inguinal hernias, one of which entended to the level of the mid-thigh. Pre and peri-operative management of the right inguinal herniorrhaphy consisted of DDAVP in a dose of 0.5 μg/kg Q 12 hourly for two doses, FFP at 9 ml/kg Q 12 hourly for three doses, and Amicar for 48 hours starting post-operatively. This regimen maintained the factor VIIl-C at ∼ 50% with factor V between 44% - 50% for a period of three days. On the 4th postoperative day a left inguinal herniorrhaphy was accomplished with DDAVP and FFP (dosage similar to previous) administered Q 12 hourly for three doses, then once in the next 24 hours, and Amicar for three days. A 4 cm wound hematoma noted on the first day of the second surgical procedure was evacuated, and was due to the presence of a bleeder since Vlll-C and V levels were higher than the values indicated on the first procedure. No red cell transfusions were given; fluids were restricted to 600 ml per day for 24 hours after the last dose of DDAVP. Successful bilateral inguinal herniorrhaphies without significant hemorrhages was achieved with exposure to a minimal volume of blood products.

One of the main protective equipment used to prevent falls is the lifeline. However, at the construction site, this equipment is deficient in visual identification, as there is a lack of information on how to use it properly. The purpose of the study is to create a visual device for guidance on the use of lifeline equipment in construction. As for the research method, a literature review was initially performed. In a second moment, a technical visit was made to a company. The last step consisted of data analysis and the proposition of the device model to orient activities that use lifelines following the model proposed by Valente (2017). The results show the development of a visual device in three parts: a description of the activity to be developed, the protection equipment used and information on how to react in case of an accident at work. The study highlights two contributions: the probable reduction in the number of accidents due to the misuse of lifeline equipment and the validation of the method proposed by Valente (2017) for the design of visual devices.One of the main protective equipment used to prevent falls is the lifeline. This article aims to expose the review of the Last Planner System application in three Colombian construction companies. The paper summarizes the second part of the research work of the authors, who in a first stage studied the state of the art of the LPS in Colombia, with the participation of 16 companies. Data collection for the initial diagnosis was made through non-participant observation in the weekly planning meetings of the building projects and dialogue with the managers of the Lean area in each company. The weak aspects in each planning level were all identified, then the socialization of the good practices and permanent feedback was carried out through an accompanying work guided by the authors and the managers of the Lean area. The results show the state of application of good practices and the barriers found by the authors in the interiorization process within the corporate culture.
