A primary issue for dance education and training is ensuring that the “trained body” is equipped for the range of activity today's dance practitioner will encounter. Modern dance techniques offer a breadth of knowledge on numerous and inter-related levels, encompassing the physical, physiological, artistic, historical, musical, and analytical. This paper will consider the relevance and benefits that “traditional” modern dance training can have on today's dancer. Although Abraham Maslow never specified how eupsychia (his paradigm for the best possible human society) might be achieved, he was inspired in the 1960s by Aldous Huxley’s notions that major changes in education were vital for its attainment: in Maslow’s view, spurring personality growth and fulfillment and ultimately leading to self-actualization on a societal level. In this light, Maslow’s scattered writings on the necessity for revisioning education provide meaningful direction for realizing the eupsychian ideal. The limitation of women’s opportunities in the activities of the performing arts in the past were opportunities associated with the regulation norms in the foundations of Minangkabau customs. Within the social order, Minangkabau custom placed a woman as a person having the autonomy known as Bundo Kanduang, a perfect woman that should be the model for her descendants, the light in the village, the one who can keep the beauty of the country. Synthesis - Making Architecture
Think of making architecture – and you may think of Kykeon - the famous Greek drink, taken at the peak of the Eleusinian Mysteries. The word means to mix, blend, fuse…
The act of transforming water, barley, herbs, honey, wine and ground goats cheese into a drink, required from the beginning probably both speculations, tests, observations and discoveries. The act itself gave name to the drink; it was the blending, the physical experience of fusing the ingredients together by mixing that created the wonder, Kykeon.
