Full textThis thesis explore the experiences of heteronormativity of six ballroom dancers. Their own thoughts on different roles and meaning behind the dances have been captured in interviews. Later translated and analysed through Queer theory and Erving Goffmans dramaturgical perspective theory where he enlightens us about his perspective on social situations as performances based upon the conviction of persuasion. Discovering that heteronormativity lives within the sport as traditions from past times and upheld by rules and guidelines, and attitudes expressed by the dancers. The dancers themselves agree on changing the rules of the sport is making the meaning of ballroom dancing less accurate matching the history of the sport which seems to be the pillar of ballroom dancing. Heteronormativity is the main subject of this thesis.

Full textPrevious studies have shown that dance has a positive impact on the individual's health. Despite this, dance is given a limited space in the school subject sports and health. The purpose of this study is to investigate the subject sports and health in grades 7–9 from a teacher perspective with a focus on the lesson element dance. The study is based on a qualitative approach and consists of digital semi-structured interviews. The sample consisted of 6 sports teachers with valid identification who work in high school with grades 7-9. The sample consisted of a 50/50 gender distribution. During the interviews, the participants got to reflect and discuss the dance part in the subject of sports and health. They shared their own experiences and thoughts that were relevant to the study. The result was able to state that the dance part works well according to the participants, even though in some cases there is a more negative attitude to the dance. Two major challenges that were highlighted by most participants include the attitude / attitude towards dance and the impact of the Corona pandemic on dance instruction. At present, the dance element is a knowledge requirement in teaching and can have a great impact on students' grades both positively and negatively. In 2022, this will change, which has aroused the thoughts of some participants. The dance is seen as a fun activity that is "so much more than just something silly" which can also be used outside of school. The gender reflections on dance show that the participants experience girls more often rise in grades while the boys' grades can be lowered a lot. This may be partly because the boys have a more negative attitude to the dance. The different themes of the result can be linked to each other, which shows that many different parts can affect the dance part in sports and health.

The wheelchair dance sport is a competitive sport dancing that is practiced in many countries. The sport is played in pairs in two styles: the duo dance, the two athletes in wheelchair dance, as in combi, an athlete must have the need to use the wheelchair to dance and another standing dance partner without any disability. This latter style has been practiced in Brazil for about ten years. The purpose of this study was to tell the history of wheelchair dance sport in the country considering facts and voices. To do so and write a factual and chronological version, based on documents, it was tried to find the basis in oral history which gives the minorities, in this case people with disabilities, a voice in the society. The athletes had the opportunity to communicate their experiences. In doing so they were motivated to search in their memories the meaningful facts related to the wheelchair sportive dance that helped to create an imaginary about the sport history in their lives. This study started from the need to understand how this modality without roots in Brazilian culture was produced and consolidated in the country, and even without any support for about ten years, it remained until today. Taking into consideration scientific and chronological history referred to the emergence and construction of the wheelchair sportive dance thru the events and important facts considered by the athletes implicated in this context shows us a different story compared to other sports and announces a time of evolution for this sport.

The Wheelchair Sport Dance (WSD) it is an adapted sport modality of the ballroom dance practiced in Brazil since 2001, however, no there are studies that approach the physiologic answers to the effort that the athletes/dancers submit in a competition of WSD. Purpose: to describe the values of heart rate (HR) and the levels of the lactate concentrations [La] sanguine, to verify the behavior of the curve of the HR of the dancers wheelchairs during a competition of WSD, to compare the physical load between the rounds and the specific heart answer among the dances Samba, Rumba and Jive. It is last, to compare HRpeak (heart rate peak maxim) obtained by the athletes in the competition, front HRMcal (maximum heart rate calculated) foreseen for the age. Methods: They participated in this study 9 (nine) athletes wheelchairs with disabled (four with spinal cord injury, three with poliomyelitis sequel and one with bifid spine), being four men and five women, with average 34,6±10,5 years , 53,7±9 kg of body mass, 4,1±2,4 years of practice and that competed during the VII Brazilian Championship of WSD. For the registration of HR the Polar Team Systeam was used during all the competition, already for to measured of the [La] five were accomplished. The graphic representation of the curve of HR was demonstrated compatible with intermittent physical activity, the average of the physical load of the rounds was of 89,9%HRpeak not having significant difference among the same ones. In relation to the dance styles, there was significant difference of intensity, being most intense Jive than the Samba and the Rumba not having difference among those two. The average of HRMpeak (189 bpm) it was larger (p?0,05) than the average of HRMcal (165,3 bpm). In relation to the levels of [La] most of the appraised athletes reached pick values between 4,2 and 6,2 mM. Conclusion: WSD is a modality with intermittent characteristics, the average intensity during the rounds is compatible with an activity of high intensity and very probably the athletes reach HRMduring the competition.

Full textThis thesis highlights that people who practice urban sports, outdoor dance, and street art work on contemporary public space. They may also be associated with skilled craftsmen who "shape" the city by a sensitive, playfulness and imaginary experience of urbanity. Public space is becoming more enjoyable, but above all its open, heterogeneous and dynamic character is simulated. These three activities have a micro-political dimension because they give the opportunity to their participants to live a kind of urban utopia and to unravelling social and territorial orders. However, this work doesn't hide some contradictions that make analysis of the impact of respondents on contemporary public space growing in complexity. If every riders, dancers and street artists contribute to the perpetuation of the "palimpsest city", they do not always write some "renew sentences"

Full textIn France, there is a dance transmission at school which is made via a partnership between teachers and choreographic artists. The thesis suggests a participating observation of this original educational form which is the organised dance workshop in the school context. After having identified the characteristic educational situations of this transmission form, it tries to specify the different stakes - technical, aesthetic, ethical types - inherent to the interaction between artists and teachers as well as artists and children. The educational tools drawn from the repeated experience of the workshop, providing the best possible transposition of the choreographic experiential conditions, are targeted and related with quality criteria claimed by the different partners. The research work contributes in that way to the analysis of the professional process of this transmission form

Full textThis thesis aims at analyzing the semiological and enunciative interviews conducted by choreographers of contemporary dance. It comes up under the theoretical framework and methodology of texts semiology which draws its inspiration from Anne-Marie Houdebine’s structural and interpretative indicial semiology. Our goal consists in analyzing the linguistic strategies implemented by the choreographers and the interviewers in order to highlight this artistic practice within the framework of the discussion. The interview on the contemporary dance was treated like our societal object. The analysis was divided into two analytical phases. The first one is descriptive and internal. The other is interpretative. The choice of an interpretative textual semiology made it possible to exceed simple formal and objective description of the corpus, to try to register our methodology within the framework of a cultural anthropology. The interpretative path deals with the questions of subjectivity and the imaginary production. It made possible a critical glance on the object along with a complex correlation between language, body and conscious and unconscious psyche

Full textAbstract Aim: The objective of the study was to investigate the energy expenditure with the use of dance mat respectively a traditional dance class. The questions at issue were: What differences, in energy expenditure, an ordinary dance class and a session with dance mat? And: how do the two activities, dance mat and dance class, stand to the recommendations for daily physical activity? Method: The test group that completed the study consisted of four men and four women in the ages 23-26 years old. The test subjects all have previous experience in mixed physical activity. The method was formed through the relation between heart rate (HR) and effect (w). The test group went through three different types of tests. In the first test a bicycle ergonometer were used and both HR and effect was recorded and formed into a linear equation. The second test was a session with dance mat to a given sample of music. During the test their average HR was recorded. In the third test the test group danced a premade choreography to the same sample of music and their average HR was recorded. The HR variables were set in the linear equation to establish their average effect during the two activities. Oxygen uptake (l/min) and energy expenditure (kcal) was calculated from these figures. Results: The results of this study shows that dance class (7.4kcal/min) have 40 % higher energy expenditure than the session with dance mat (4.6kcal/min). The dance class reaches and exceeds the recommended lower limit of physical activity, while the session with dance mat does not. Conclusions: It is possible to use dance mat as a replacement for a dance session, but the energy expenditure is depending on which technique you use in the different activities, despite that it could be used as a pedagogical instrument.

But the question is to know whether congo, a developing country can reconcile at the same time, a sociamedicy that attaches importance to the development of physical and sports activities and the necessity of it economical growth. As the country can't face both aspects, it knows a state of underdevelopment for it physical and sports activities, soit causes a lack of educational material and financial ways, so many handicals whose effects add themselves in a circumtance of world crisis. In the situation of domination and dependance, congo can't know levels of sport development comparable to western countries levels. That's we want to show the pressing necessizy to define again physical and sports activities in the whole politics of development. This has allowed us to see problems of sports in congo. Abstract This research primarily discusses the partner relationship in dance sport. By means of interviewing 26 males and females involving with dance sport, we tried to perceive the subjects’ viewpoint towards the dance partner relationship in dance sport. The content includes four elements; namely, the interviewee’s understanding of the sport dancer’s personality traits, generation of sport motivation, the sport involvement degree, and the influence of involvement degree on benefits of sport. In this research, we have applied focus group method and depth interview approach to probe into the impact of “gender”, “characteristics of dance”, “personality traits”, “motivation for sport”, and “sport involvement” on “types of dance partner relationship. Additionally, we have also explored the “benefits of leisure” generated from “types of dance partner relationship”. Comparison and analysis has been proceeded continuously throughout the study to extract the research results as follows: 1.The dance relationship in dance sport can be categorized into three major types—(1) Involvement degree type and involvement stage type; (2) Goal oriented type and free will type; (3) Friends-making type and independent working type. 2. Dance partner relationship involves not only the two dancers but also the instructor so that the perfect golden triangle and balance of the dance partner relationship can be achieved. 3. Personality traits, sport motivation, and sport involvement degree have influence on dance partner relationship on different aspects. In other words, personality traits affect the cooperative consensus between the dance partners, sport motivation leads to different cooperative partner relationships, and sport involvement degree has impact on the mutual agreement of the dance partners. 4. The above-mentioned dance partner relationship types have divergent influence on the six benefits of leisure. In the end of this thesis, we discussed the research results and proposed several suggestions as reference for the subsequent studies in the future.

Dance sport entered Taiwan from the time of the Japanese occupation. For a century, Taiwan’s dance sport was only inferior to Japan and far ahead of Asian countries. However, over the past decade, due to various reasons, the dance sport industry in Taiwan has gradually shrunk. The purpose of this paper is to explore the reasons why dance teachers still set up dance studio in a situation where the environment is not optimistic. This article will do a comprehensive analysis of the business model of dance studio. According to current and potential customer of dance studio, this thesis tried to find a pain point for marketing, and hoped to put forward some suggestions that the dance studio may need. In this research, five results were found as follows. First, dance studio founder wants to adopt a disciplinary orientation at the beginning of the curriculum, focusing on guiding students to learn subjects. However, in practical operation, obstacles will force founder to change from a disciplinary orientation to a student orientation, focusing on the student's learning experience rather than the knowledge. Second, due to the differences between the characteristics of the dance, the diversification of courses is limited. Third, in the dance studio, the group courses adopt the competition-oriented pricing method, while the individual courses adopt the differential pricing method. Fourth, the decisive factors whether consumers are willing to join in the dance studio in order of priority are: the recommendation of friends and relatives, the atmosphere of the classroom, the content and price of the course, the conditions of the classroom. Therefore, oral propaganda is the most effective promotion method for dance studios. Fifth, in recent years, due to the economic contraction and the declining birthrate, the number and quality of dance teachers have been declining.

Abstract Built in 1972, Chung Hsing Hall was an important art space at that time in Taiwan. It has been nearly fifty years. In recent years, the old building and space have become inadequate for use. It has been transferred to Physical Education Office, National Taiwan University of Sport. Therefore, the dismantling and rebuilding project is proposed to turn Chung Hsing Hall into the dancing center of NTUS. There have been more art spaces in Taichung these years, such as National Taichung Theater, Taichung City Tun District Art Center, and Chung shan Hall. To increase the different types of art space, it is proposed that Chung Hsing Hall could be used as the teaching, practice, and performance space for Department of Dance, NTUS, to enhance the cultivation of the dance talents in central Taiwan. The acoustic simulation and analysis are made in the interior acoustic space of the hall. The simulation is analyzed in terms of the three items as follows: sound pressure level (SPL), articulation index C80, and reverberation timeT_60. These three are the research indexes of the acoustic space. The computer simulation research is done with Sample 1, to set up the acoustic shells on the ceiling of the original design, and Sample 2, to change the ceiling shape directly without setting up the acoustic shells, to analyze the pros and cons of the result. The design result aims at the art spaces in Taichung providing a variety of spaces for art and cultural activities and increasing the art and cultural atmosphere in Taichung. The research and analysis of the acoustic simulation will help create a better acoustic space for the interior of the hall, level up the humanistic literacy of this area, and encourage the foot traffic.

The physical demands placed on dancers put them at a significant risk for injury, with similar rates as the ones sustained by athletes in sports at the same level of performance. Muscle strength has been suggested to play a preventive role against injury in dancers. Nevertheless, the nature of that relation is still unclear. The purpose of this thesis was therefore to examine the nature of the relation between muscular strength and injuries in the pre-professional setting. A systematic review of literature (Study I) was performed to determine the state of knowledge. Several gaps were found that needed to be bridged for advancing. The major limitations found concerned epidemiological data on injury surveillance. An epidemiological study (Study II) was conducted with the goal of describing the injury patterns within our population. After identifying jumps as the motor action mostly associated with injuries, Study III aimed to examine the relationship between lower extremity vertical jump power features and injury history. No differences were found between dancers with and without injury history with concern to vertical jump power. After detailed analysis of the results obtained along the course of the investigation, we preliminary conclude that the role of muscular strength in injury proneness may more likely be related with the strength production process than with the final product. Stronger dancers do get injured too.
