Abstract:
The work presents the possibilities created by the multi-camera 3D image correlation system. The experience is based on non-contact measurement of displacements and deformations. The measurement was used basically to estimate the deflection line of the bending beams and values of strains and displacements at various points of the cross-section. The measurement was carried out by tracking the displacements of the prepared surface of the sample. The results of the numerical analysis were also presented, which were compared with the experience carried out on the measurement stand.

Abstract:
Ascaris lumbricoïdes infection is a cosmopolitan helminthiasis that is endemic in tropical countries of the globe. Often asymptomatic, it is sometimes revealed by complications that make it serious. Biliary ascariasis is one of them. We report 2 cases of ascariasis of the common bile duct in the General Surgery Department of Hospital Le Dantec of Dakar (Senegal). These were two patients with hepatic colic and acute angiocholitis in whom the diagnosis was made by ultrasound. Treatment was surgical in both cases. Through these 2 cases we review the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of this disease rarely described in our regions, which are however ascaridian endemic zones.

Abstract:
The present paper presents an experimental study, regarding the dynamics of movement in natural convection in an asymmetrically heated vertical channel. The channel was immersed in a tank filled with water at a temperature of 15 °C. The study focuses on one hand, on the radiated heat output from the heating plate, and on the other hand, on the thermo-physical boundary conditions from the inlet and the outlet of the channel. These aspects give great problems in natural convection if limited to a single channel as a field of study. The experimental study was conducted to validate numerical results, in similar conditions. The size variation of the recirculating zone, temperature and speed in the channel were analyzed through the PIV method (Particle Image Velocymetry) using the equipment provided by Dantec Dynamics and the analysis program "Dynamic Studio".

Abstract:
This paper analyzed the locomotion of a snake robot in narrow spaces such as a pipe or channel. We developed a unique experimental snake robot with one revolute and one linear joint on each module, with the ability to perform planar motion. The designed locomotion pattern was simulated in MATLAB R2015b and subsequently verified by the experimental snake robot. The locomotion of the developed snake robot was also experimentally analyzed on dry and viscous surfaces. The paper further describes the investigation of locomotion stability by three symmetrical curves used to anchor static modules between the walls of the pipe. The stability was experimentally analyzed by digital image correlation using a Q-450 Dantec Dynamics high-speed correlation system. The paper presents some input symmetrical elements of locomotion and describes their influence on the results of locomotion. The results of simulations and experiments show possibilities of snake robot locomotion in a pipe.

Abstract:
Swirl is a tangential velocity component of the fluid flow and is often present in the conical diffuser as a result of rotating machinery in the upstream section. The present experimental work is dedicated to study the effect of moderate swirl on wide angle conical diffuser performance and flow development. The experiments were performed in a low-speed open circuit wind tunnel. There are two different diffusers having a cone angle of 14? (with an area ratio 3.0) and 20? (with an area ratio 4.2) were selected for this investigation. The flow parameters have been measured using DANTEC DYNAMICS make constant temperature hot-wire anemometer (CTA). The results showed that the moderate swirl can significantly improve the stalled diffuser (20? cone angle) performance; however, it has a little effect on the diffuser (14? cone angle) having incipient turbulent boundary layer separation. It was confirmed that the introduction of moderate swirl reduces the chances of flow separation in wide angle conical diffusers.

Abstract:
A reduction in maximal force production is a common observation in older individuals. In an effort to determine whether aging is accompanied by reductions in central motoneuron drive limiting motor performance, motor unit discharge records were obtained from seven young (21–33 yr) and seven older (> 67 yr) adults. Informed consent was obtained from all subjects. The task required the subject to perform a maximal abduction of the second digit under isometric conditions. Motor unit potentials in the first dorsal interosseous were monitored by using a selective four-wire needle electrode and identified off-line with the aid of a Dantec electromyograph. The maximal discharge rate in the older adults (31.1 impulses/s) was significantly smaller (P < 0.05) than that in the younger subjects (50.9 impulses/s). These findings suggest that reductions in maximal force capability in older adults are partially due to an impaired ability to fully drive the surviving motor units.

Abstract:
Experimental modal analysis is a relatively young part of dynamics, which deals with the vibration modes identification of machines or their parts. Its development has started since the beginning of the eighties, when the computers hardware equipment has improved and the fast Fourier transform (FFT) could be used for the results determination. Nowadays it provides an uncountable set of vibration analysis possibilities starting with conventional contact transducers of acceleration and ending with modern noncontact optical methods. In this contribution we mention the use of high-speed digital image correlation by experimental determination of mode shapes and modal frequencies. The aim of our work is to create a program application called Modan 3D enabling the performing of experimental modal analysis and operational modal analysis. In this paper the experimental modal analysis of a thin steel sample performed with Q-450 Dantec Dynamics is described. In Modan 3D the experiment data were processed and the vibration modes were determined. The reached results were verified by PULSE modulus specialized for mechanical vibration analysis.

Abstract:
RNA viruses of the family Rhabdoviridae include arthropod-borne agents that infect plants, fish and mammals, and also include a variety of non-vector-borne mammalian viruses. Herein is presented a molecular phylogenetic analysis, the largest undertaken to date, of 56 rhabdoviruses, including 20 viruses which are currently unassigned or assigned as tentative species within the Rhabdoviridae. Degenerate primers targeting a region of block III of the L polymerase gene were defined and used for RT-PCR amplification and sequencing. A maximum-likelihood phylogenetic analysis of a 158-residue L polymerase amino acid sequence produced an evolutionary tree containing the six recognized genera of the Rhabdoviridae and also enabled us to identify four more monophyletic groups of currently unclassified rhabdoviruses that we refer to as the ‘Hart Park’, ‘Almpiwar’, ‘Le Dantec’ and ‘Tibrogargan’ groups. The broad phylogenetic relationships among these groups and genera also indicate that the evolutionary history of rhabdoviruses was strongly influenced by mode of transmission, host species (plant, fish or mammal) and vector (orthopteran, homopteran or dipteran).

Abstract:
To identify the parasites responsible for intestinal parasitic infections diagnosed at Le Dantec University Hospital of Dakar, distribution of parasites detected in stool samples of patients was studied. From 2011 to 2015, 2578 patients were included in the study. A direct examination and Ritchie technique were performed as parasite search techniques. In total, 408 samples were positive showing 440 intestinal parasites; this corresponds to prevalence of 15.8%. Parasites were detected in monoparasitism (85.7%) and multiparasitism (14.3%). The most common species found in monoparasitism wereEntamoeba coli(38.9%),E. histolytica/dispar(12.7%),Giardia intestinalis(8%), andAscaris lumbricoides(7.3%). The most common associations wereA. lumbricoides-Trichuris trichiura(3.6%) andE. coli-G. intestinalis(2.7%). Nonhospitalized patients were significantly more affected with 65.4% compared to hospitalized counterparts; and also there were more men (50.7%) than women. With 67.4%, adults were the most affected age group, while the elderly were less affected with only 7% (p=0.5). This study shows increasing prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections over the years. So health education should be promoted in addition to the already begun mass treatment program. This would help to limit or even halt the spread of these diseases.

Abstract:
Background: In Africa, lithogenesis was initially considered rare and it was mostly caused by infections. Recent studies suggest that obesity, change in dietary habits (milk, dairy products) and hot climate can contribute to an increase of the condition in the region. Over the past decades, the management of upper urinary tract urolithiasis has evolved significantly with minimally invasive techniques. The challenge for sub-Saharan countries is related with the acquisition and the training for minimally invasive treatment. In fact, open surgery has less indications in the management of urolithiasis. The aim of this study is to evaluate the preliminary results of ureteroscopic laser treatment for upper urinary tract lithiasis in our hospital. Methods: This was a prospective, descriptive study realized between June 2016 and December 2018. The patients included were those who had ureteroscopic laser treatment for upper urinary tract lithiasis. The treatment was performed under general anesthesia by two surgeons. The studied parameters were: age, sex, patient medical history, comorbidities, renal function, cytobacteriological examination of urine, characteristics of lithiasis, intra and postoperative complications (using the Clavien–Dindo classification), ureteroscopic laser failures (frequency and causes). Success of treatment was defined by: the absence of a residual fragment at the renal and ureteral level or of a residual fragment <4 mm at the renal level on the control imaging. Data analysis was done with IBM SPSS Statistic 23 software. Statistical significance was considered when P < 0.05. Results: This study involved 43 patients. The mean age was 40.84 years ± 15.33 years. The age group between 30 and 39 years was predominant. The sex ratio was 1.26. Nephritic colic was the circumstance of discovery in 93.02%. The Uro-CT scan performed in all our patients, revealed kidney stones in 16.3% and ureteral stones in 83.7%. The right side was the most involved in 55.8%. The mean size of the stones was 12.2 mm ± 4.89 at the renal level and 12.05 mm ± 5.54 at the ureteral level. The semi-rigid ureteroscope was used in 88.37% and the flexible ureteroscope in 11.63%. The lithiasis was visualized in 74.4% of cases. Laser fragmentation was performed in 69.77% of cases. A J stent was placed after 72.1% of cases. Pelvic ureteral stripping and pelvic ureteral aspiration were realized in one case each. Acute pyelonephritis (ANP) was observed in 25.6% of patients. There were 75% fragment free at postoperative control. Any factors associated with treatment failure were not found.

Abstract:
The objective of our study was to report 2 cases of hepatocellular carcinomas associated with pregnancy followed in our structure and to review the literature. Our patients were 30 and 37-year-old multi-gesture females with chronic unattended viral hepatitis B in whom the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma was made in the third trimester of pregnancy at 31 weeks of amenorrhea and 4 days and at 32 weeks of amenorrhea after the incidental finding of tumor hepatomegaly on abdominal-pelvic ultrasound. The main clinical signs were jaundice and hepatomegaly and paraclinical signs were dominated by hepatic cytolysis and anemia in addition to ultrasound images. Follow-up of pregnancies revealed no particularities. A caesarean section was scheduled at 32 weeks of amenorrhea and 32 weeks of amenorrhea and 3 days allowing the birth of two preterm newborns weighing 1210 and 1500 gm with Apgar scores of 8-10/10 and 7-9/10 respectively at the fifth minute. The immediate post-operative follow-up was simple. However, the maternal-fetal prognosis was poor with the death of both patients in a multi-visceral failure table occurring respectively at 6 weeks and 3 weeks after caesarean section. The newborns had died 8 days after birth. Although rare, these two cases challenge any obstetrician to think about liver cancer in pregnant women, especially those with chronic hepatitis B. Ultrasound examination of the liver, or even better, the MRI, which is more efficient, in order to suspect early on a possible liver cancer. Indeed, early diagnosis and a thorough medical approach are essential for the treatment of HCC in pregnant patients.
