BRITZ, RALF, V. K. ANOOP, and NEELESH DAHANUKAR. "Dario neela, a new species of badid fish from the Western Ghats of India (Teleostei: Percomorpha: Badidae)." Zootaxa 4429, no. 1 (June 5, 2018): 141. http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.4429.1.6.

Full text
Abstract:
Dario neela, is described from a small tributary stream of the Kabini River in northern Kerala, India. It can be distinguished from congeners by the male colouration in life, which shows wide rims of iridescent blue in all median fins and the pelvic fin. It is further distinguished from all species of Dario, except D. urops by the number of abdominal vertebrae (14 vs. 11–13), and from all Dario species except D. urops and D. huli by the presence of a conspicuous black blotch on the caudal-fin base. Dario neela is distinguished from D. urops by the absence of the horizontal suborbital stripe and presence of a series of up to eight black bars on the body; and from D. huli by 27–28 vertebrae and 27 scales in a lateral row and the absence of teeth from hypobranchial 3. Dario neela is genetically divergent from both Western Ghats congeners in the mitochondrial CO1 gene, showing an uncorrected p-distance of 5.9% with D. urops and 13.1% to D. huli.

Abstract:
Dario Fo has developed his own brand of epic theatre by adapting principles and techniques from various forms of popular performance and the oral tradition. He stays detached from the role he plays by frequently shifting in and out of character and by calling attention to the performance as such. This, argues Antonio Scuderi, allows him to emphasize the interpretive frame – the ‘messages’ he establishes in his prologue. His most recent play, The Two-Headed Anomaly, is thus at one level a farcical romp; but a closer look reveals an intricate metatheatrical structure that allows Dario Fo and his fellow-performer Franca Rame to deliver their political satire. Antonio Scuderi is Associate Professor of Italian at Truman State University in Missouri. He is the author of Dario Fo and Popular Performance (Legas, 1998) and with Joseph Farrell edited Dario Fo: Stage, Text and Tradition (Southern Illinois University Press, 2000). His most recent articles on Fo have appeared in Theatre Journal (2003) and Modern Language Review (2004).

BRITZ, RALF, SVEN KULLANDER, and LUKAS RÜBER. "Dario tigris and Dario melanogrammus, two new species of miniature chameleon fishes from northern Myanmar (Teleostei: Badidae)." Zootaxa 5138, no. 1 (May 16, 2022): 1–16. http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.5138.1.1.

Full text
Abstract:
Dario tigris, new species, is described from mountain streams south of Mogaung, in the Ayeyarwaddy River basin, Myanmar. It differs from congeneric species by its unique colour pattern, which consists of a series of eight straight vertical bars, the first two of which in males are ash-grey and the subsequent six are orange-red in life, combined with a series of small black spots arranged in three to four rows dorsolaterally on the head and nape. It differs further from its close relative Dario hysginon, with which it may occur syntopically, by fewer dorsal-fin spines (modally 14 vs modally 15), and fewer vertebrae (modally 12+12=24 vs modally 12+13= 25). Dario melanogrammus, new species, is another barred Dario from the Chindwin River basin. It differs from all other species of the genus by its zigzagging dark vertical bars; amongst Myanmar species, it can be further distinguished from D. hysginon and D. tigris by more vertebrae (modally 26 vs 25 in D. hysginon, and 24 in D. tigris).

Abstract:
Anthropological issues concerning socio-cultural evolution were important in the development of Marxism and led to the theories of cultural materialism. Besides Marx and Engels, anthropology was an important subject for other seminal Marxist theorists, such as Plekhanov. For the Marxist playwright-performer Dario Fo, Gramsci’s theories of hegemony are fundamental to his ideas of the development of art from utilitarian activities, and explain his insistence on drawing from folk and popular forms of performance. In this article Antonio Scuderi investigates some of the major anthropological and folkloric themes in Fo’s theatre, including the influence of anthropologists such as Toschi and Lévi-Strauss. Antonio Scuderi is Professor of Italian at Truman State University in Missouri, where he founded the Italian programme. His interdisciplinary articles on Italian performance traditions have been published in leading journals of theatre, folklore, and literary studies, including Theatre Journal, Oral Tradition, and Modern Language Review. He is the author of Dario Fo and Popular Performance (Legas, 1998), Dario Fo: Framing, Festival, and the Folkloric Imagination (Lexington Books, 2011), and co-editor of Dario Fo: Stage, Text, and Tradition (Southern Illinois, 2000).

Abstract:
The behavior of Dario rerio fish under stress control (mental trauma modeling) and with the axiolytic drug phenazepam was studied. With the drug phenazepam - tranquilizer fish calm down and float to the top of the aquarium. Typically, this fish was used in research in the field of molecular genetics and developmental biology, but recently it has become attractive in the work on the creation of new drugs and the modeling of various physiological and pathological processes. Danio rerio is a model organism in developmental biology. Most human genes have homologs in zebra fish (70%-80%), and functional kinase domains have 100% identity. The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis corresponds to that in humans. The aim of our work is to determine the neuropeptides in the brain of Danio rerio after stress effects and the use of phenazepam.

Abstract:
In 1974 Dario Fo and ‘The Commune’ theatre collective were forced to engaged in a political battle to secure control of the ‘Palazzina Liberty’, a nondescript building once a market canteen, set in the middle of a park in a south-eastern suburb of Milan. Here, Tom Behan describes how mass support, derived from a revolutionary ideology, secured The Commune's control over the building for several years. The relationship between this political movement and the political content of the shows performed at the Palazzina is then discussed with reference to Can't Pay? Won't Pay!, Fanfani Kidnapped, and Mum's Marijuana is the Best. Tom Behan, is Senior Lecturer in Italian at the University of Kent at Canterbury. Abstract:
For over half a century the Italian Nobel playwright and performer Dario Fo (b. 1926) developed a theatre that challenged the authority of hegemonic culture, while promoting the validity and dignity of folk and popular cultures. In his satire of the Catholic Church, Fo presents the paternalistic God the Father as an instrument of suppression, while showing Jesus as being closer to the hearts of the folk. His references to apocryphal gospels – the gospels of early Christianity that were rejected by the Roman Church – play into this schema. In two of his plays, First Miracle of the Christ Child (from Tale of a Tiger and Other Stories) and Johan Padan Discovers America, Fo borrows elements from various apocryphal texts as a basis to underscore his father/son dichotomy, and to contest hegemonic dominance. At the same time, he presents a human Jesus who is more akin to the Jesus of certain apocrypha than to official gospels. Antonio Scuderi is Professor of Italian at Truman State University in Missouri, where he founded the Italian programme. His interdisciplinary articles on Italian performance traditions have been published in leading journals of theatre, folklore and literary studies, and in essays for books. He is the author of Dario Fo and Popular Performance (Legas, 1998) and co-editor of Dario Fo: Stage, Text, and Tradition (Southern Illinois UP, 2000). His latest book, Dario Fo: Framing, Festival, and the Folkloric Imagination (Lexington Books, 2011), examines the influence of concepts derived from folk culture, anthropology, and Gramscian Marxism on the development of Fo's theatrical praxis.

Abstract:
R. G. Davis directed the first commercial productions of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist and We Won't Pay We Won't Pay!, both in Canada and the USA. In the context of the original close relevance of the plays to the political situation in Italy, he looks at how in the USA especially their force has been diluted if not extinguished by the imperative to conform to the inherent anti-communsm of American culture. R. G.Davis founded and directed the San Francisco Mime Troupe in the 1960s, and the Epic West Center for the Study of Bertolt Brecht and Epic Theatre at Berkeley in 1975. Later he returned to academia to study science and ecology, and visited Cuba to examine the culture of organic farming. He has contributed previously to New Theatre Quarterly and its predecessor, specifically on Fo in two articles for the original Theatre Quarterly: ‘Seven Anarchists I Have Known: American Approaches to Dario Fo’, in TQ 8 (1986), and ‘Dario Fo Off-Broadway: the Making of Left Culture under Adverse Conditions’, in TQ 40 (1981).

Abstract:
Dario Fo’s one-actor performance “Mystery-buff” is justly considered one of the playwright's main works, his hallmark. This production is a series of stories based on the Evangel apocrypha — biblical stories that, for some reasons, were not included in the official canons. The playwright sees such reasons in the folk origin of these stories, in their poignancy and topicality. Seemingly light and simple, they are nevertheless filled with a rebellious, freedomloving spirit, that obviously goes against the official doctrine of power. As a true giullare, Dario Fo tells these stories from the stage while being one-on-one with his spectators. This form of communication with the audience was very close to him. The explanation for this phenomenon lies largely in the playwright’s childhood and the environment in which he grew up. Consequently, a significant part of this article focuses on the first years of Dario Fo’s life and his communication with the folk storytellers of Lake Maggiore, who, definitely, greatly influenced his personal and professional formation. The comedian reveals all the wealth of Italian folk culture through the prism of Italian folk religiosity. Being far from the official church, he turned out to be incredibly close to folk traditions and national cultural values. The main purpose of this article is to analyze and reveal the meaning of the “faith of the commoners” in the art of Dario Fo, as well as to demonstrate the social angle that acquired, as examplified in his key work “Mystery-buff”.

Abstract:
Until a few years ago, the operation of anion-exchange membrane (AEM) fuel cells (AEMFCs) at temperatures above 70 oC was a real challenge, mainly due to the temperature limitation of the AEMs. Recently, with the remarkable progress made in the development of stable AEMs, more and more AEMFC tests could be performed at higher cell temperatures, mainly at 70-85 oC. Very recently, very few studies even reported the operation of AEMFCs at 90-95 oC. In the past year, we presented the first results of what we call high-temperature AEMFCs (HT-AEMFCs) tested at cell temperatures above 100 oC. At these temperatures, we could obtain hydroxide conductivities close to 300 mS cm-1, the highest hydroxide conductivity ever measured for an AEM. The first HT-AEMFC results are very encouraging and represent a significant landmark for the research and development of fuel cell technology, opening a wide door for a new field of research - the HT-AEMFCs. At this initial stage, however, there are many open questions and unknowns, mainly regarding the stability of the polymeric materials under these high temperatures. In this talk, this topic will be discussed, and new exciting and surprising insights will be presented. References “A high-temperature anion-exchange membrane fuel cell”; John C. Douglin, John R. Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract:

Abstract:
The accountability of subjects of international law has undergone rapid development, in particular to the accountability of international organizations. This study intends to analyse the legality of NATO’s humanitarian interventions in Libya and also analyse NATO’s accountability for violations of international law. The research method used is normative research with a statutory approach, a case approach, and a comparative approach. The results showed that violations committed by NATO member states can be attributed to NATO as an international organization. NATO has committed violations of international obligations under articles 3, 4 and 61 of the DARIO. NATO accountability as stipulated in articles 30-31 and 41-42 of the DARIO can be carried out by ceasing to commit violations and avoiding such acts in the future, as well as giving compensation for damages caused.
