Un atelier d'artiste est en quelque sorte semblable à la chaussette qui fascinait tant Walter Benjamin. Enroulée et repliée sur elle-même, elle se façonnait un sachet dans lequel elle était contenue. Une fois extraite de ce sachet, elle se déployait et le sachet redevenait chaussette. Il faut entendre par là que l'espace de création appartient entièrement à l'artiste et qu'il s'étend dans l'espace de son esprit et de son corps. L'atelier d'art n'est autre que l'artiste lui-même : c'est un état de son esprit et donc un espace tout intérieur et mental. Au moment où l'artiste commence à travailler, l'espace de travail devient cependant aussi l'espace extérieur qui reflète une image séculaire de l'espace interne et le déploie. Le corps de l'artiste se prolonge dans son lieu de travail, qui devient partie intégrante de son corps en mouvement

Form, space, rhythm, order, symmetry, balance, repetition, proportion and scale are few from a long checklist of principles that, if followed carefully by the designer, will result in "beautiful" architecture, or so I was told. However, what exactly is "beautiful"? In his book "The beautiful necessity" (1910, p.34) Claude Fayette Bragdon suggests that "Beauty is the name we give to truth we cannot understand". This statement implies that there is a hidden quality within each building, or even within each space, a quality that we can sense but cannot make sense of, a quality very similar to having a soul.
The soul seems to linger on the threshold that divides two opposite worlds, it is always in-between. Between the dream and the awake, between the physical and the imaginary, between the conscious and the subconscious and between the real and the unreal.
In this thesis, the "real" world consists of an animation studio (the program), the studio's staff and visitors, the selected site located in Alexandria, and it is bound by the building methods, materials and codes. The "unreal" world consists of four fictional characters that, assumingly, emerged from my subconscious and who live in a fictional dimension that overlaps ours.
The different encounters within the "real" world and within the "unreal" world, and also the interactions between the "real" and the "unreal" worlds are translated into an architectural language as an attempt to investigate the soul.Master of Architecture

I denna uppsats undersöker jag hur musikerns prestation påverkas av medhörningen. Jag har inriktat mig på sångare och sånginspelning i studio. I undersökningen har jag använt mig av tre informanter som fick sjunga till fem olika mixar i medhörningen. Jag analyserade sedan deras intonering, rytmisering och sångstyrka. Resultaten av undersökningen blev att intoneringen till viss del påverkas av medhörningen, rytmiseringen och sångstyrkan påverkas i hög grad av medhörningen.

The following report is an analysis of Studio Amanda Talley where I served as intern from December 2009 to March 2010. Studio Amanda Talley is a for-profit business entity providing local contemporary art for the southern region of the United States, specifically the New Orleans area. I interned under Amanda Talley, the artist and proprietor of the studio space. This analysis includes Studio Amanda Talley's history including an artist biography, an overview of the organizational structure, and an institutional S.W.O.T Analysis based on my observations. Also included in the report is an in-depth internship description. Further, the report discusses my contributions as an intern and their affect on the organization as a whole. Finally, the report examines best practices performed by similar arts organizations, and provides recommendations based on the most successful art galleries that New Orleans has to offer.

El presente trabajo de investigación se desarrolla con la finalidad de implementar sesiones de mindfulness a nivel corporativo enfocado en el Top y Middle Management, una alternativa diferente que sea operativa y económicamente factible.
La motivación para desarrollar este proyecto se da por las actuales tendencias sobre el cuidado de la salud física y emocional a través de la gestión del estrés (Euromonitor, 2019) debido a los cambios en el entorno laboral y personal.
Por ello, el uso de la metodología utilizada está basado en el Modelo Canvas considerando los puntos más importantes de forma visual. Dicha información fue validada a través de entrevistas a profundidad por expertos en recursos humanos, lo cual permitió reconfirmar el público objetivo con interés en el bienestar físico y emocional.
Además, la empresa contará con una oficina administrativa en el distrito de Miraflores
Por otro lado, en la evaluación económica del plan de negocio se obtiene una rentabilidad de s/57 512.32. Los resultados muestran una inversión inicial de s/. 103 490 de los cuales 50% es capital propio y 50% será financiado.
Considerando un escenario esperado con la venta anual de 80 paquetes y la asistencia de 5 personas promedio por prácticas de 5 sesiones por programa, se alcanzaría una utilidad neta anual de s/. 74 810.65 en el primer año.
Considerando los distintos escenarios sólo en el pesimista se obtiene una TIR de 51%, en el optimista de 131% y la TIRE de 43.77%.
Los flujos económicos se reflejan positivamente a partir del primer año siendo en el año 2021 de s/.74 810.65, alcanzando los s/. 60 269.10 al 2022 y s/. 66 247.67 al 2023. Respecto al flujo financiero se registra s/. 54 515.45 en el año 2021 y llegando a s/.43 378.64 al 2023.This research work is developed with the implementation of implementing mindfulness sessions at a corporate level focused on Top and Middle Management, a different alternative that is operative and economically factible. The motivation to develop this project is given by current trends in physical and emotional health care through stress management (Euromonitor, 2019) due to changes in the work and personal environment. However, the use of the methodology used is based on the Canvas Model determined the most important points of the visual form. Such information was validated through in-depth interviews by human resources experts and meditation experts, which confirmed the target audience with an interest in physical and emotional well-being. In addition, the company has an administrative office in the Miraflores district. On the other hand, in the economic evaluation of the business plan, a return of s / 57 512.32 is obtained. The results found an initial investment of s /. 103 490 of which 50% is own capital and 50% will be financed. Considering an expected scenario with the annual sale of 80 packages annual and the attendance of 5 average people for practices of 5 sessions per program, obtain an annual net profit of s /. 74 810.65 in the first year. Considering the different aspects only in the pessimistic one obtains TIR of 51%, in the optimistic obtains131% and the TIRE obtains of 43.77%. The economic flows show positively from the first year, being in 2021 of s/.74 810.65, reaching s/. 60 269.10 to 2022 and s/. 66 247.67 to 2023. Oggetto della tesi e' l'approfondimento su tecniche e metodiche di preservazione del polmone isolato per lo studio ecografico. E' discussa l'appropriatezza sull'uso degli ultrasuoni in corso di chirurgia mini invasiva polmonare, obiettivo di una ricerca sperimentale. Il razionale dello studio si fonda sull'indicazione all'exeresi chirurgica di noduli polmonari di diametro inferiore al centometro, ovvero di diametro superiore ma localizzati in aree centrali del polmone. Queste lesioni sono sempre piu' frequentente diagnosticate per mezzo di avanzate tecniche di imaging. L'atto chirurgico ha scopo terapeutico quando sia stata posta la diagnosi di neoplasia maligna, diagnostico-terapeutico quando non sia ancora ottenuta la tipizzazione istologica della lesione. La tecnica toracoscopica offre numerosi vantaggi rispetto alle tecniche chirurgiche tradizionali ma presenta il grave limite di non permettere la palpazione diretta del tessuto polmonare e la localizzazione della formazione tumorale quando essa non sia visibile macroscopicamente. Gli ultrasuoni sono stati utilizzati con successo per indirizzare la localizzazione del nodulo polmonare. Scopo dello studio sperimentale e' quello di confrontare tecniche diverse di preservazione del polmone isolato in un modello animale, comparando catatteristiche e prestazioni di sonde ecografiche differenti per tipologia. Del tutto recentemente, in ambito trapiantologico, sono state proposte tecniche di preservazione organica utili ai fini di uno studio anatomico sperimentale particolareggiato (EVLP) e moderna e' da considerarsi la concezione di mezzi tecnici specifici per la localizzazione di bersagli intrapolmonari. La tecnica clinica applicata allo studio del particolare ecografico, nel modello animale, ha reso comprensibile e meglio definito il ruolo delle sonde ecografiche nell'individuazione di forme tumorali suscettibili di exeresi definitiva.The primary focus of this dissertation is research about techniques and methods of isolated lung tissue preservation for sonographic investigation. Doctoral thedis describes the use of ultrasound probes in an experimental model and its clinical application during minimally invasive pulmonary surgery. The rationale of the study is based on the indication to surgical procedure and when is clinically in the treatment of solitary pulmonary nodules (<1 cm or greater but more central in visible appearance). In the era of CT screening programs, these lesions are more frequently diagnosed with advanced imaging techniques. Surgical procedure is therapeutic when a diagnosis of malignancy is obtained, but also diagnostic if we must correct the technique to the histologic pattern or ascertain pathological growth of the lesion. Thoracoscopic techniques offers several advantages over traditional "open" procedures but shows clinical limits. These mininimally invasive approaches do not allow to direct handling of tumor when is not macroscopically visible. Ultrasound have been successfully used to guide localization of pulmonary nodules. The experimental study compare different techniques of lung tissue preservation in a porcine model, the proceed to analysis of diagnostic performances related to a panel of echographic probes. More recently, a number of different techniques, adopted in lung transplantation programs, has been considered as useful for experimental anatomical study (EVLP) and several instruments of scientific research has been comceived for intrapulmomary localization of neoplastic lesions. These clinical techniques were originally applied in an animal porcine model, studied for scientific purpose, and described in a personal review of cases. Results of surgical interesr were related to scientific Literature in order to identify the possible role of echographic probes on clinical context.

Oggetto di questo studio è la determinazione dell’impedenza d’ingresso polmonare a basse frequenze (0.125-5 Hz) nel cane, descritta da Hantos e coll. in un articolo del 1990. Il comportamento meccanico dei polmoni è stato approssimato attraverso l’utilizzo di due diversi modelli (Mount e Hildebrandt) proposti in precedenza. I segnali immessi in questi modelli approssimano andamenti iperbolici (U2) e andamenti a gradino (U1) e vengono registrati a diverse pressioni trans-polmonari Ptp per analizzare l’andamento dell’impedenza. Il comportamento dei due modelli è stato valutato attraverso l’utilizzo di due funzioni criterio: relativa e assoluta. Il modello di Hildebrandt ha mostrato una migliore capacità di riprodurre l’andamento dell’impedenza polmonare in funzione della frequenza. In particolare, i risultati mostrano la diretta dipendenza della resistenza dalla frequenza, mentre l’inertanza non presenta rilevanti variazioni a frequenze diverse. Nonostante gli ottimi risultati ottenuti con il modello di Hildebrandt, ancora non si spiegano alcuni comportamenti dei polmoni. I risultati ottenuti sono soddisfacenti per quanto riguarda le basse frequenze ma non rispecchiano a pieno il comportamento naturale influenzato anche da fenomeni plasto-elastici.

I semiconduttori porosi in passato erano considerati dannosi per l'industria microelettronica: solo negli ultimi decenni è stato scoperto che essi posseggono particolari proprietà che li differenziano fortemente dai rispettivi semiconduttori integri, pertanto questa categoria di materiali oggi rappresenta un nuovo settore di ricerca. In questo lavoro di tesi si discutono: la classificazione, la geometria e la morfologia delle strutture porose; la tecnica di "etching" elettrochimico impiegata per realizzare i pori nei semiconduttori; i modelli e i meccanismi di formazione dei pori; la tecnica di spettroscopia elettrochimica FFT-IS("Fast Fourier Transform Impedance Spectroscopy") utile nell'analisi in tempo reale della formazione dei pori; le possibili applicazioni di questi materiali.

The following thesis report is an analysis of The Alex Beard Studio where I completed an internship from December of 2010 to March of 2011. The Alex Beard Studio LTD is the umbrella limited liability company which covers the artist Alex Beard’s brand, children’s books series, and the physical art gallery which is located in New Orleans’ French Quarter. During my internship, I worked closely with the artist Alex Beard and his studio manager Brandi-Lea Harris, as well as briefly working with his former gallery director Randy Jackson and his new gallery salesperson Ryan Miner. This thesis report analysis will include a brief biography of the artist and an explanation of his studio and brand. A description of my internship will also be included in this report as well as an in-depth analysis on art gallery best practices and a S.W.O.T. analysis on the studio. Finally, this thesis report will conclude with my contributions and recommendations formulated during and after my experience as the Alex Beard Studio’s intern.

Abstract Speed of information, uncertainty and complexity are increasing in the work-life of the knowledge worker. In addition, solving complex and wicked global problems require cooperation skills as well as ability to learn in collaboration across the disciplines, meaning skills in crossing boundaries. These requirements set new challenges for educating knowledge workers in higher education. Metaskills, such as learning by utilising networks, communication and critical thinking, have become as essential as discipline-specific skills. Metaskills combined with discipline-specific skills are called T-shaped skills. Individuals possessing these skills, so-called T-shaped professionals, are exposed to the experience and the knowledge of other disciplines and thus are recognised as carrying the skills for crossing boundaries. This dissertation examines how a Finnish studio-based pedagogical approach to bachelor education, the LAB Studio Model (LSM), contributes to the education of boundary crossing competence. This qualitative dissertation utilises exploratory as well as design research as its research approach and contains four original publications. First, the characteristics of LSM and the utilisation of studio-based practices in higher education are studied by conducting literature reviews. Second, the internal and external boundary crossing activities are studied by performing case studies, where the new knowledge creation and establishment of learning networks are in focus. Empirical data has been collected by conducting web-based surveys, theme-based student and student team interviews, direct observation, and participative observation. The outcome of this dissertation suggests that LSM offers a potential educational model for learning the skills of boundary crossing, resulting in a T-shaped skill base. The results of this dissertation include new findings on how commonly studio-based education is utilised world wide in higher education, how LSM differs from the existing configurations that utilise the studio-based model in higher education, as well as active internal and external boundary crossing among students. This dissertation contributes to the discussion of university-society collaboration by the new learning configurations, and to the interdisciplinary education of knowledge workers. The results of this dissertation can be utilised in the development of studio-based configurations in higher educationTiivistelmä Tiedonvälittämisen nopeus, epävarmuus ja monimutkaisuus lisääntyvät tietotyöläisten työssä. Lisäksi yleismaailmallisten ja monimutkaisten ongelmien ratkaisemisen vaatima monialainen yhteistyö, sekä yhdessä oppiminen edellyttävät taitoja erilaisten rajojen ylittämiseen. Nämä vaatimukset asettavat uusia haasteita tietotyöläisten korkeakoulutukselle. Metataidot, kuten vuorovaikutustaidot, verkostojen avulla oppiminen ja kriittinen ajattelu, ovat tulleet yhtä tärkeiksi kuin alakohtaiset taidot. Metataidot yhdistettyinä alakohtaisiin taitoihin muodostavat niin kutsutut T-malliset taidot. T-mallisia taitoja omaavat ammattilaiset ovat altistuneet muiden alojen ammattilaisten kokemuksille ja tietotaidolle, ja siten omaavat taitoja rajojen ylittämiseen monialaisissa työryhmissä. Tämä väitöskirja pyrkii vastaamaan kuinka suomalaisessa korkeakoulussa kehitetty, studiomallinen ja monialainen tietotyöläisten koulutusmalli, LAB-malli, vastaa rajojen ylittämisen taitojen kouluttamisen haasteeseen. Tutkimus toteuttaa laadullista tutkimusstrategiaa käyttäen eksploratiivista ja kehittämistutkimuksen lähestymistapaa tutkimusprosessissaan. Alkuperäiset julkaisut keskittyvät studiomallin hyödyntämisen yleisyyteen korkeakoulutuksessa maailmanlaajuisesti, LAB-mallin ominaisuuksiin studiomallina ja opiskelijoiden rajojen ylittämiseen monialaisen koulutuksen aikana. Ensimmäinen julkaisu keskittyy LAB-mallin ominaisuuksien analyysiin ja toinen studiomallin hyödyntämisen selvittämiseen kirjallisuuskatsauksien avulla. Kolmas julkaisu keskittyy rajojen ylittämiseen koulutuksen sisällä uuden tiedon tuottamisen teorian kautta ja neljäs koulutuksen ulkopuolisten rajojen ylittämiseen oppimisverkostojen muodostamisen kautta. Tutkimus tehtiin keräämällä tietoa kyselyillä, teemapohjaisilla opiskelija- ja tiimihaastatteluilla, sekä suoralla, että osallistuvalla tarkkailemisella. Tämä väitöskirja osoittaa, että LAB-malli tarjoaa koulutusmallin rajojen ylittämisen oppimiseen ja siten T-mallisten taitojen oppimiseen. Tulokset osoittavat, että studiomallin hyödyntäminen on lisääntynyt korkeakoulutuksessa, LAB-malli on omaleimainen verrattuna muihin studiomallia noudattaviin korkeakoulutuksiin ja että koulutuksen aikana opiskelijat ylittävät rajoja aktiivisesti. Tämä väitöskirja osallistuu keskusteluun korkeakoulujen yhteiskunnallisesta yhteistyöstä, sekä monialaisen ja studiomallisen oppimisen mahdollisuuksista tietotyöläisten kouluttamisessa. Il lavoro di tesi ha previsto un’analisi fisica per determinare la polverosità di alcuni materiali alla rinfusa inerenti all’attività portuale della città di Ravenna. La polverosità viene definita come la propensione di un materiale a generare polvere durante la sua movimentazione. È analizzata per determinare la qualità dei materiali alla rinfusa e per prevedere il potenziale rischio delle polveri per la salute e la sicurezza dei lavoratori. La sperimentazione si può suddividere in due parti principali.
La prima fase riguarda le condizioni di esercizio dell’apparecchio utilizzato nelle analisi, al fine di verificare la variabilità di classificazione della polverosità di tre materiali di prova: la sabbia derivante da macinazione di minerali, il feldspato, il clinker grigio. I tre materiali erano già stati contemplati dall’ordinanza dell’autorità portuale n. 4/08, la quale li classifica in base a tre classi di polverosità (bassa, media ed alta) da un punto di vista qualitativo. La scelta del metodo di analisi è avvenuta sulla base dell’accordo dei risultati analitici, effettuati con diverse impostazioni strumentali, con le classi di polverosità assegnate nell’ordinanza dell’autorità portuale n. 4/08.
Nella seconda parte sono state effettuate le analisi per definire il grado di polverosità di due materiali (cloruro di potassio, sepiolite) su cui non si hanno informazioni riportate in letteratura, con lo scopo di classificarle rispetto alle tre classi di polverosità definite dall’autorità portuale.

Le emissioni di CO2 provocate dallo sfruttamento dei combustibili fossili da parte dell'uomo ha portato ad una concentrazione di questo gas serra in atmosfera tale da dover essere monitorata, se non diminuita. E' d'obbligo sfruttare le fonti energetiche in modo più sostenibile: oltre a ridurre il più possibile le emissioni di CO2 è necessario sfruttare appieno le fonti rinnovabili. Soluzione comune a questi due aspetti è il concetto di Power to Gas, o Power to Methane, il cuore del quale è la reazione di metanazione: catturando la CO2 altrimenti dispersa in atmosfera e facendola reagire in appositi catalizzatori con idrogeno ottenuto tramite idrolisi dell'acqua, utilizzando elettricità derivante da fonti rinnovabili, si ottiene metano. In questo modo si può sopperire alla fornitura di energia senza dipendere dai combustibili fossili e con emissioni nulle.
In questa tesi si approfondiranno gli aspetti generali della metanazione, soprattutto sulla termodinamica, e si mostrerà quanto sia importante che il concetto di PtM si possa applicare il più possibile su vasta scala.

La tecnica olografica venne introdotta nel 1948 da Denis Gabor. Creò la parola holography combinando tra loro le parole greche holos, che vuol dire tutto, e graphein, che invece vuol dire scrivere. Con il termine olografia si intende le registrazione e la ricostruzione dell'ampiezza e della fase di un'onda. La prima si ricava dalle informazioni contenute nell'intensità delle frange luminose che costituiscono l'immagine di diffrazione, mentre la seconda si ottiene dalla distanza delle stesse. L'immagine di diffrazione non è altro che il prodotto dell'interferenza tra l'onda oggetto e l'onda di riferimento, che viene registrato solitamente su una lastra olografica o una pellicola, che si presenta come un susseguirsi di frange chiare e scure molto sottili, tanto da non essere visibili a occhio nudo a causa delle alte frequenze spaziali. Questa immagine riproduce l'oggetto se illuminato con un fascio luminoso simile all'onda di riferimento. Negli anni a seguire si sviluppò molto velocemente la tecnologia alla base dei computer che permise di trasferire sia il processo di registrazione che quello di ricostruzione su tali dispositivi. Un passo avanti venne fatto con l’introduzione dei Charged Coupled Devices (CCD) nella registrazione diretta di ologrammi, ad opera di Schnars e Juptner, con i quali venne eliminato definitivamente ogni tipo di passaggio fotografico intermedio. L'intero procedimento numerico di registrazione e ricostruzione venne riconosciuto in seguito come Olografia Digitale, e i suoi vantaggi rispetto all'olografia ottica erano ben chiari e ne permisero un largo impiego: dall'interferometria alla shearografia alla fotografia speckle. Questa tesi ha l'obiettivo di mostrare un'applicazione dell'olografia ottica e di infine tentare un primo approccio all'olografia digitale per mezzo di acquisizioni di figure di diffrazione attraverso un CCD e di simulazioni di generazione e ricostruzione di ologrammi su dispositivi elettronici.

Lo scopo del presente elaborato è lo studio della regolarità stradale. La regolarità è una caratteristica fondamentale sia dal punto di vista dell’utenza, poiché da essa dipendono il comfort, ma soprattutto, la sicurezza della guida, sia dal punto di vista dell’ente proprietario della strada, perché dalla regolarità dipende la pianificazione della manutenzione della rete viaria, con tutti i pesi economici che essa comporta. Da questa piccola considerazione si comprende perché nell’ultimo secolo l’argomento abbia suscitato sempre maggiore interesse, vedendo la nascita, sin dagli anni ’50, di strumenti sempre più sofisticati, grazie allo sviluppo dell’elettronica, e sempre più veloci nell’acquisizione dei dati, per far fronte al contemporaneo sviluppo della rete viaria.
Nel primo capitolo si affronterà la tematica della regolarità stradale, cercando di comprenderne la natura e i suoi livelli di degrado, dei quali viene fatta un’ampia descrizione, comprensiva di cause scatenanti. Inoltre si fa un accenno al Catasto Stradale, poiché costituisce uno strumento essenziale per la gestione dell’infrastruttura viaria e per l’ottimizzazione delle risorse destinate alla sua manutenzione e alla sua sicurezza; infine si parla delle tecnologie finalizzate al rilievo della regolarità.
Il secondo capitolo è dedicato al panorama normativo in materia di regolarità stradale. Le varie norme sono commentate nel dettaglio, data l’importanza di una standardizzazione nella calibrazione e nell’uso degli strumenti di rilievo e nelle procedure di stima della regolarità.
Il capitolo successivo contiene una trattazione sugli indici di regolarità, ma l’attenzione è in particolar modo rivolta all’IRI, l’indice internazionale di irregolarità. Per le caratteristiche con cui è stato concepito, cioè stabilità temporale, validità e compatibilità, è stato assunto come scala di riferimento internazionale, a cui gli altri indici possono riferirsi. Viene quindi illustrato il significato di IRI, il modello matematico su cui si basa la sua definizione, per passare poi al procedimento analitico e a quello informatico con il quale viene calcolato.
Essendo la presente tesi avvenuta in collaborazione con la ditta Siteco Informatica di Bologna, nel capitolo quarto, sono stati analizzati gli strumenti installati sul veicolo ad alto rendimento (VAR) messo a disposizione dalla ditta stessa. Gli strumenti consistono principalmente in dispositivi per il calcolo del posizionamento e dell’assetto del veicolo, in un profilometro laser per il rilievo della regolarità stradale e in un laser scanner, di cui si è tentato di studiarne le potenzialità nell’ambito dell’oggetto di questa tesi. Il percorso di ricerca ha incluso l’esperienza diretta in sito tramite varie campagne di rilievo, per meglio comprendere il mezzo e la natura dei dati ottenuti. Si è quindi ripercorso l’intero processo di elaborazione dei dati grezzi di rilievo, così com’è strutturato per le finalità della ditta collaborante, per utilizzare poi il dato finito per finalità ingegneristiche.

This D.Phil constitutes an investigation led by studio practice and supported by archival and desk-based research into knowledge production through the building of complex cosmologies; specifically those created de novo in visual art practice and 'outsider science' oeuvres. It considers how these cosmologies relate to mainstream science, definitions of outsider art, and other complex cultural systems such as alchemy. Through a more detailed analysis of the work of the British artist John Latham and American outsider cosmologist James Carter, the thesis undertakes this investigation through discussions on the development of these systems and a consideration of the epistemologies these cosmologies reveal. The studio practice elements drive this investigation forward by interrogating themes including the relationship between culture and complex systems, alchemical epistemology, and the struggle to relate to unintuitive science.

Detta är en uppsats som handlar om Sun Studio under 1950 talet i USA, hur studion kom till och om dess grundare Sam Phillips och de tekniska tillgångarna och begränsningar som skapade ”soundet” för Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ike Turner och många fler. Sam Phillips producerade många tidlösa inspelningar med ljudkaraktäristiska egenskaper som eftertraktas än idag. Med hjälp av litteratur-, ljud- och bildanalys beskriver jag hur musikern och producenten bakom musiken skapade det så kallade ”Sun Soundet”. Ett uppvaknande i musikvärlden för den afroamerikanska musiken hade skett och ingen skulle få hindra Phillips från att göra den hörd. För att besvara mina frågeställningar har texter, tidigare forskning och videomaterial analyserats. Genom den hermeneutiska metoden har intervjumaterial och dokumentärer varit en viktig källa i denna studie.

Siekiama, kad programinių sistemų kūrimo kaštai būtų kuo mažesni: programa būtų sukurta per ko trumpesnį laikotarpį, atitiktų aukščiausią kokybę ir svarbiausia butų pagaminta už mažiausią kainą.
Taip atsirado, greito programinių sistemų kūrimo technologija RAD (Rapid Application Development – greitas programinių sistemų kūrimas). Vienas iš šių įrankių yra ir Omnis Sudio. This is a new technology in Lithuania and not known very much in the world, but in the future I think that it will become very popular and used. Using Omnis Studio you can create any type of application and deploy it to the internet using unique Omnis web client technology. Il ritiro dello Space Shuttle dalla vita operativa avvenuto nel 2011 e le iniziative in corso tra NASA ed aziende commerciali hanno dato il via ad una fase di transizione nel volo spaziale umano volta a fornire servizi di trasporto spaziale maggiormente flessibili. Accanto ad iniziative private che sono principalmente volte al trasporto di turisti nello spazio allo scopo di far loro provare per pochi minuti l’ebbrezza dell’assenza di gravita’ (ad esempio Virgin Galactic), anche la Difesa si sta impegnando in questo campo, in particolar modo negli USA. Inoltre è stata firmata a marzo 2014 una lettera d’intenti tra l’Aeronautica militare e l’Ente Nazionale per l’Aviazione Civile (ENAC) per definire i criteri e le modalità per lo sviluppo della cooperazione nel settore del volo suborbitale e dell’aerospazio. L’accordo segue di pochi giorni la firma a Washington di un Memorandum of Cooperation sul medesimo argomento tra la Federal Aviation Administration americana(FAA) e la stessa ENAC, accordo che fa dell’Italia il primo paese europeo scelto dalla FAA statunitense come partner per la collaborazione nel settore del trasporto spaziale.

Con il termine Machine Learning si indica un insieme di metodi ed algoritmi il cui obiettivo principale è far sì che le macchine siano in grado di apprendere conoscenza attraverso l’analisi dei dati in modo da poter riconoscere automaticamente modelli complessi ed essere in grado di prendere decisioni. A tal proposito, possono essere utilizzati diversi approcci quali, ad esempio, la programmazione logica induttiva, alberi decisionali, regole associative, reti neurali artificiali, programmazione genetica, reti bayesiane, macchine a vettori di supporto.
Lo scopo di questa tesi è quello di studiare ed implementare una nuova tipologia di rete neurale artificiale, la Capsule Network, e di analizzare i risultati che vengono ottenuti nella classificazione delle immagini, intesa come il problema di identificare la classe di un’immagine sulla base di conoscenza estratta da un training set.
Nel presente lavoro di tesi, i risultati della Capsule Network sono stati confrontati con quelli delle reti neurali attualmente utilizzate per questa tipologia di task, le Reti Neurali Convoluzionali (CNN), di cui dovrebbero superare alcuni limiti.
Verranno, dunque, descritte in maniera dettagliata il problema della classificazione delle immagini e le caratteristiche di Reti Neurali Artificiali e Reti Neurali Convoluzionali (Capitolo 1), le caratteristiche principali della Capsule Network (Capitolo 2), la sua implementazione (Capitolo 3) ed i risultati ottenuti (Capitolo 4).

di 48 radiogalassie FRII prese da due campioni a redshift diverso (29 con redshift
z < 0.3 e 19 con redshift 0.3 < z < 0.6), confrontando le loro posizioni con i dati
provenienti dalle osservazioni in banda infrarossa del telescopio spaziale WISE. Per 10
di queste radiosorgenti `e stata trovata una controparte infrarossa nel catalogo di WISE.
Per queste sorgenti sono stati calcolati i flussi e gli indici spettrali radio-infrarosso, questi
ultimi hanno dato un valore medio di circa 0.75.
Inoltre, sono state individuate altre 4 hot-spot con una candidata sorgente infrarossa,
ma le loro osservazioni a disposizione in questo momento non permettono di confermare
tale controparte.

The aim of this thesis work is to develop and optimize a new strategy of atroposelective synthesis to obtain the 2-methyl-4- (naphthalen-1-yl) quinolin-3-ol substrate.
It was decided to start from a well known process for obtaining this product, namely the Friedländer synthesis using a chiral Brønsted acid as catalyst. The different physiological activities and the antimalarial properties of this type of heterocyclic compound together with its applications in various fields of chemistry as well as pharmaceutical are some of the reasons why it was decided to undertake this research work. Given the importance of the characteristics mentioned above, in the last decades numerous methods have been developed for their synthesis, but enantioselective versions are still few in the literature. Furthermore, with the emergence of a less common form of chirality, such as axial, the demand for new synthetic pathways has become even more complex. In the light of the state of art in this project there is also the desire to enrich the scenario of chemical research with the presentation of a new synthetic enantioselective path to obtain atropisomeric products.

L’analisi effettuata si basa sugli studi svolti dall’Istituto di Ricerca di Angio-cardiologia e Clinica Cardiovascolare dell’Università di Medicina Kyushu e sui precedenti lavori da cui quest’ultima parte. Si pone l’obbiettivo di descrivere l’ottimizzazione dell’accoppiamento ventricolo-sistema arterioso attraverso la definizione di due indici: uno che rappresenti il post-carico ottimo per un dato cuore come quello che estrae dal cuore il massimo lavoro esterno in un battito e l’altro che caratterizzi il cuore ottimo come quello che minimizza il consumo di ossigeno nel miocardio ventricolare per un dato carico. Durante la trattazione si descriveranno le relazioni matematiche che consentono di definire tali indici, come la relazione pressione-volume di fine sistole, la quantità di volume di sangue eiettato in un battito (stroke volume), il lavoro cardiaco e il consumo di ossigeno e si metteranno in evidenza le implicazioni fisiologiche di tali indici.
La conclusione degli studi analizzati è che, in condizioni normali, l’accoppiamento del ventricolo con il sistema arterioso appare vicino alla situazione sia di cuore metabolicamente ottimo sia di post carico meccanicamente ottimo.

Information technology offers many tools for promoting collaboration and communication in architectural design. A growing number of companies and individuals are adopting computer-based techniques to facilitate remote collaboration between geographically distributed teams. Thus, it is important to investigate the use of technology in developing collaborative tools for architects, especially as required training in architectural education. This research explores the feasibility of augmenting communication in the design studio using a web-based collaboration tool. A prototype was developed for an integrated system that allows for streaming media, real-time collaboration, and multi-way video, audio and text messaging, tailored specifically to the needs of a distributed architectural design studio. The Collaborative Online Architectural Design Studio (COADS) is based on a three-tier client-server structure consisting of an interface tier, an application-logic tier and a data tier. COADS allows role-based participation for students and teachers, facilitating collaboration over design sketches and presentations using personal computers equipped with a microphone and a web-cam. The system was developed and subjected to usability testing in a design studio consisting of graduate-level students of architecture. The participants were required to use COADS for conducting peer evaluations of designs for their class project and subsequently, to answer a questionnaire assessing the usability of the system. The analysis showed that COADS has definite advantages as a tool to augment communication in the design studio. The biggest advantage was that participants could get immediate feedback about their designs from their peers, irrespective of their location. COADS was also relatively easy to set up on end-user machines and provided an integrated point for accessing relevant studio resources from a single location. The disadvantages were mostly due to the limitations of the hardware on end-user machines such as small screen sizes, low quality microphones and web-cams. Further, the collaborative whiteboard within COADS lacked essential tools, such as pan/zoom and erase/undo tools, which reduced its usability. In conclusion, systems such as COADS can effectively augment communication within the architectural design studio. However, they need to be integrated closely with the course structure, right from the introductory stage of the project to the final presentation stage.
