Abstract:
Abstract The collection of accurate stray current field data on existing utility piping has been a serious concern especially in areas of new transit systems. Extensive testing was performed on existing water piping in conjunction with the construction and operation of the new Baltimore Light Rail Transit System. Testing was performed with instruments connected both to piping appurtenances such as hydrants and valves as well as to specially installed test facilities. The test results that were obtained during these stray current investigations revealed critical information. This information in

Abstract:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has monitored the extent and severity of food insecurity in U.S. households for more than 25 years. Data on food security is collected annually as part of the Current Population Survey Food Security Supplement (CPS-FSS). USDA, Economic Research Service undertook a process to update the survey instrument used for the CPS-FSS data collection. An updated survey instrument was created through a process of expert content review and cognitive testing. The revised survey instrument was implemented by the U.S. Census Bureau in a split-panel data collection test in Se

This collection of data comprises new XRF data, TOC data, and a new table of formation tops for the lower portion of the Devonian clastic wedge (Weatherall, Cape de Bray and Blackley formations sensu Embry and Klovan, 1976) and the underlying basinal and carbonate-platform strata of variable Ordovician to Lower-Middle Devonian age. Main results include ED-XRF data for 15 well sections within the N.W.T. jurisdiction of the SW Arctic Archipelago. These XRF data were obtained in 2018- 2020 through non-destructive measurements of drillhole cutting samples using a Bruker Tracer IV instrument. Testi

The academic performance of engineering students continues to receive attention in the literature. Despite that, there is a lack of studies in the literature investigating the simultaneous relationship between students' systems thinking (ST) skills, Five-Factor Model (FFM) personality traits, proactive personality scale, academic, demographic, family background factors, and their potential impact on academic performance. Three established instruments, namely, ST skills instrument with seven dimensions, FFM traits with five dimensions, and proactive personality with one dimension, along with a

Increased attention has been paid to the gender dimensions of taxation in recent years, though there has been limited research on the subject – particularly in lower-income contexts. Understanding how tax policies might affect women in lower-income countries is important at the current time, when governments are looking for new ways to increase domestic revenue – particularly through expanding the tax base. Given that women have historically represented only a small part of the formal workforce in these contexts, a shift towards indirect taxes and taxing the informal economy are likely to have

Tax policy is among the most common and relevant instruments in the toolkit of policy-makers when thinking about promoting growth, yet there is not compelling evidence regarding its effect in Latin American countries. Using a variety of approaches, we estimate the effects on growth of the most important taxes for the region, namely personal income tax, corporate income tax, general taxes on goods and services, including value added and other sales taxes, and revenues from natural resource. We evaluate the effect of these tax instruments on growth for Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, and Chile using

This seminar will provide depth and breadth on developing well-refined and theoretically driven mixed methods studies. It also teaches participants how to use appropriate methods and instruments during mixed methods data collection, integration, and analysis. The content will be enhanced by an overview of both qualitative and quantitative methods, separately, then together, to examine how the strengths of one outweigh the weakness of the other. An official Instats certificate of completion is provided at the conclusion of the seminar. The seminar offers 2 ECTS Equivalent points for European Ph
