Abstract:
The new millennium has brought about an increase in the use of business intelligence and knowledge management systems. The very foundations of these systems are the multitude of source databases that store the data. The ability to derive information from these databases is brought about by means of data integration. With the current emphasis on security in all walks of information and communication technology, a renewed interest must be placed in the systems that provide us with information; data integration systems. Abstract:
The world-wide geographical extension of grasslands consist in 20% of the land and in Europe of about 8% (EU-15). The annual sink of this kind of ecosystem is estimate to be about 0.5 Gt C y−1. The carbon accumulated in the soils of temperate grasslands was estimated to be between 150 and 300 Gt C. This quantity is about double the carbon stocked in the soils of temperate forests. Anyway there are many uncertainties in these fluxes and stocks estimates. This uncertainties can in part be connected with the lack of knowledge in the applied and historical management. Frequently, these factors ar

Abstract:
An emerging problem in organisations is that there exist a large number of tools storing data that communicate with each other too often, throughout the process of an application or product development. However, no means of communication without the intervention of a central entity (usually a server) or storing the schema at a central repository exist. Accessing data among tools and linking them is tough and resource intensive. As part of the thesis, we develop a software (also referred to as ‘adaptor’ in the thesis), which, when implemented in the lifecycle management systems, integrates data

Abstract:
The study explores the benefits, limitations and opportunities arising from the application of an integrated (hard and soft systems) Knowledge Management (KM) model within a global mining and manufacturing company. It employs a mixed method (interview and survey approach) to explore related Knowledge Management (KM), Organisational Learning (OL), and Data Mining (DM) processes (as a proxy for broader data management tools and practices). It employs the Resource Based View (RBV) and Knowledge Based View (KBV) of strategy to explore how the case company has built unique human knowledge capabilit
