Abstract:
Este trabajo analiza la recuperación que dos obras teatrales realizan de una misma situación histórica relevante de la historia argentina: el levantamiento militar (1828) por el que se fusiló al caudillo Manuel Dorrego. Ambos textos: el Dorrego de David Peña (1909) y el Dorrego de David Viñas (1974), presentan vínculos intertextuales mediante los cuales han revisado algunos temas decisivos para la cultura política argentina (el caudillismo, el populismo, la participación del ejército en la política). Por otra parte, al reinterpretarse cada pieza en su contexto, se recuperan alusiones veladas a la realidad contemporánea que los textos cuestionaban indirectamente apelando a la relectura histórica.

David Harvey gehört seit fast zwei Jahrzehnten zu den einflußreichsten Theoretikern der »Neuen Stadtforschung«*. Bekannt geworden als Autor eines Lehrbuchs der positivistischen Geographie (Harvey, 1969), wurde er zum enfant terrible dieser traditionalistischen Disziplin, als er in Social Justice and the City (1973 erstmals einen marxistischen Ansatz wählte (cf.Badcock; 1984). Dieses Buch ist dann auch in der Folge wegen seiner explosiven Wirkung innerhalb der Geographie oft als sein wichtigstes angesehen worden. Verglichen mit späteren Schriften Harveys war Social Justice and the City eine zögerliche Annäherung an eine materialistische Position in der Geographie. Seine Entwicklung von einer liberal-humanistischen zu einer marxistischen Perspektive, die er noch als mögliche Varianten einer Lösung der sozialen Frage im räumlichen System der Stadt nebeneinander stehen läßt, organisiert die Struktur des Buches. Harveys Positionen ähnelten denen des französischen Marxisten Lefebvre, hoben sich jedoch von der strukturalistisch-althusserianischen Vorgehensweise Manuel Castells' ab, der in den 70er Jahren die Standards in der marxistischen Stadttheorie setzte.

Na pictografia do período medieval, é frequente a presença de personagens bíblicos. Estudos iconográficos e iconológicos revelam que os motivos davídicos se adaptaram tanto à pictografia, quanto à literatura. Se, nas imagens, o rei David não deixou de ser retratado sem a posse de uma harpa, coroa ou em companhia de um leão ou de um urso, por exemplo, na literatura, o rei é representado como profeta e como antepassado de Cristo, constituindo-se como topos. Nas Cantigas de Santa Maria, de Alfonso X e em A demanda do Santo Graal a menção a David é explícita. Sobretudo em relação ao temário, percebe-se que a imagem davídica é compreendida tanto como representante do humano, como do divino. Na construção da personagem, tanto na arte quanto na literatura, é possível perceber o sentido sagrado e profano que se interpenetram. Esse é um aspecto que se destaca principalmente no final da Idade Média e no Renascimento. Curiosamente, em uma ocorrência fortuita, um possível David perdido, no Museu de Arte Sacra na cidade de Bragança, no Pará, encontra correspondência na pictografia davídica. Tendo tais considerações como parâmetro, este artigo pretende refletir sobre a presença do rei David em textos da literatura, considerando a pictografia medieval sobre o monarca. Para este estudo, os apontamentos de Dominique Ponnau, José Alberto Morán, Francisco de Asís García, Manuel Pedro Ferreira, Márcia Mongelli, Mário Martins, Jean-Michel Roessli, Erwin Panofsky entre outros, serão tomados por auxílio teórico.

En este artículo se recoge la correspondencia del judío David Cardoso Núñez, primero con el cónsul de España en Larache, Tomás Bremond, y luego con el cónsul español en Tánger, Juan Manuel González Salmón. Bremond comisionó a Cardoso para que expidiera las patentes de sanidad a las embarcaciones españolas que fueran al puerto de la Mamora. González Salmón eligió a Cardoso como confidente en Larache, cargo que desempeñó desde finales de 1783 hasta octubre de 1787. Más tarde, en 1792, Cardoso escribe a González Salmón en nombre propio, en el del embajador Aḥmad al-Dalīmī y en el del príncipe Mawlāy ‛Abd al-Salām, lo que origina la correspondencia que aquí presentamos.

The paper examines the life-cycle artistic productivity of three leading Latin American photographers of the twentieth century: Manuel Álvarez Bravo (Mexico), Sergio Larraín (Chile), and Sebastião Salgado (Brazil). The analysis constructs narratives using art books and other sources of expert commentary, following the approach in earlier contributions to the economics literature on the subject [David W. Galenson, 2007, Old masters and young geniuses: The two life cycles of artistic creativity, Princeton University Press]. The research identifies Manuel Álvarez Bravo as a ‘conceptual innovator’, a feature that caught the French surrealists’ attention early in his career. In contrast, Sergio Larraín and Sebastião Salgado accomplish their contributions to photography like ‘experimental innovators’. The investigation assembles and evaluates metrics from museum holdings and selected retrospectives to gauge the robustness of the conclusions emerging from the benchmark narratives. The results can be useful from the academic and public policy viewpoints: a better understanding of life-cycle artistic productivity can inform deliberations on the allocation of public funding for creative industries.

This paper provides critical reflections on Manuel Castells’ (2012) book Networks of Outrage and Hope. Social Movements in the Internet Age that analyses the “nature and perspectives of networked social movements” (p. 4) and gives special focus to the role of “social media” in movements that emerged in 2011 in Tunisia, Iceland, Egypt, Spain and the United States. I situate Castells’ book in an intellectual discourse that focuses on the political implications of social media and that has involved Clay Shirky, Malcolm Gladwell and Evgeny Morozov. The article also discusses the role of social theory and empirical research in Castells’ book, presents as an alternative a theoretical model of the relationship between social movements and the media, discusses the implications that some empirical data that focus on social media in the Egyptian revolution and the Occupy Wall Street movement have for Castells’ approach, discusses how Castells positions himself towards capitalism and compares his explanation of the crisis and his political views to David Harvey’s approach. Danielewski e suas respectivas obras Graça Infinita (1996) e House of Leaves (2000); e 3) determinadas qualidades da recepção da obra pelos leitores, onde a Internet é uma importante ferramenta para incrementar a experiência literária. A relação entre os três pontos culmina no conceito de “hermenêutica neorromântica”: apreender sentidos literários não apenas na sua relação simbólica com o autor, mas com uma comunidade virtual que produz “paratexto” (adições interpretativas ao texto original).

Desde Relatos reales, la obra de Javier Cercas ha gravitado hacia el concepto de autoficción. En este artículo pretendemos demostrar cómo en efecto estas obras pueden caber en la denominación general de “autoficción”. Para eso nuestro razonamiento se basará en las propuestas teóricas de Manuel Alberca, Phillippe Lejeune y José María Pozuelo Yvancos. Además, por tratar temas del pasado español reciente, los escritos de Cercas son ejemplos también de “metaficción historiográfica”, concepto avanzado por Linda Hutcheon, y utilizado por David K. Herzberger para explicar la narración sobre el pasado de los escritores españoles contemporáneos. Así, Javier Cercas al vincular lo biográfico y lo histórico se inserta en una tradición que es muestra de la narrativa posmoderna en España.

Abstract:
One of the most interesting Spanish-language newspapers of the second half of the seventeenth century was published by a Jewish printer, David de Castro Tartas, and appeared in Amsterdam at least from 1672 and at least until 1702, allegedly with continuity, under the title Gazeta de Amsterdam. It was partially based in translations of news items from other Dutch-language newspapers of its time, but at the same time it included news items presumedly collected in Castro’s (and, in the latest years, Manuel Texeira’s) office and addressed to a community of Jewish who were born as Catholics in Portugal and Spain, emigrated to the Republic of the Netherlands due to religious tolerance. David de Castro Tartas launched another Italian-language newspaper, Gazzetta d'Amsterdam. Since new issues of both newspapers have been found recently, we propose to complete the history of Castro's activity as newspaper editor, not only printer. Using content analysis, we try to underline the importance of this Spanish (and Italian) language printer and editor in the reproduction of material translated and adapted from other newspapers and in the production of news items originally managed in his office.

En este ensayo me propongo retomar un debate planteado hace diez años en esta revista (Discusiones, 8, 2008). Se trata de la discusión de un trabajo de David Martínez Zorrilla acerca de los dilemas morales y el derecho, comentado luego por José Juan Moreso, Guillermo Lariguet, Eduardo Rivera López, Daniel Mendonca y Manuel Atienza. Me propongo, en lo esencial, sugerir un esquema que sirva para identificar los diferentes conflictos en el derecho. Para luego plantear cuáles, de entre aquellas situaciones, pueden identificarse como dilemáticas, sobre todo en el marco de los derechos fundamentales. Para esos efectos, plantearé objeciones a una de las tesis de Martínez Zorrilla, a la vez que me remitiré a otras dos de sus tesis que, en cambio, resultarán del todo relevantes para la reconstrucción propuesta.

This essay compares two foundational manifestos of the Mexican 20th century avant-garde, both from 1921: David Alfaro Siqueiros’ “Three calls…” and Manuel Maples Arce’s Actual No. 1. Resulting from the ideological milieu of the Mexican Revolution, these texts contain distinct proposals to think about the place of the nation within an international context, after the successful entry of Mexico to modernity via revolution. In the muralist Siqueiros’ case, to think the Mexican nation implies a process of what he calls ‘universalization’, and which is driven primarily by a classical understanding of the ‘natural order’ and a specific relationship to the past. In the estridentista Maples Arce’s case, his call for a ‘cosmopolitanization’ derives from the notion that modernity is an implacable process, the access to which necessitates no relationship to the past and which rejects the ‘natural order’ in favor of a conception of the modern as urban.

RésuméCet article propose d’explorer les enjeux d’une écriture romanesque contemporaine définie comme douleur fantôme de l’histoire et exercice de ses mémoires possibles: deux séries complémentaires d’exemples – liées pour l’une à la réinvention d’une mémoire du bourreau par un narrateur « sosie » de l’historien (Manuel Vázquez Montalbán et Jonathan Littell), et pour l’autre à la saisie de l’historicité des temps présents sous l’angle conjoint de la mélancolie et de l’ironie (David Albahari, Aleksandar Hemon et Dubravka Ugrešić) – permettent d’éclairer l’ambition romanesque de transcription de l’histoire dans l’exercice « àprésent » (ou « au temps-maintenant », selon l’expression de Walter Benjamin) de ses mémoires possibles. While Bong Joon-ho's Parasite is the most well-known recent example of the home-invasion thriller, Latin American cinema has produced a number of other films—many made before Bong's Oscar-winning film premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival—using similar settings to create urgent stories about economic inequality. Emerging during a period of political and economic instability, these films present the luxury home as a stand in for an antiseptic capitalist order and a dulled bourgeois complacency, providing its occupants with a sense of safety and comfort that is as arbitrary as it is illusory. These films may focus on the rift between economic classes, but they are equally driven by a desire to unravel and dismantle the systems that put the working class at the mercy of moneyed homeowners. FQ columnist Manuel Betancourt examines these trends in relation to two recent films: Mexico's Mano de obra (Workforce, 2019, dir. David Zonana) and Argentina's Marea alta (High Tide, 2020, dir. Verónica Chen).

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo revisar, exponer y comprender el impacto y las consecuencias del uso excesivo de la tecnología digital (Smartphone y redes sociales) en las relaciones sentimentales. La investigación tiene un alcance de análisis documental. Se exploró desde la noción de los estudios socioculturales de la comunicación, poniendo énfasis en los aportes de David Morley, Manuel Castells; desde la visión antropológica del consumo masivo cultural, de Nestor García Canclini y Michel Maffesoli; la visión psicológica en amor líquido de Zygmunt Bauman, y social de Erving Goffman, quienes, desde sus propias visiones teóricas, reconocen la importancia del papel de las nuevas tecnologías y su relación con el ser humano. Al respecto, los resultados indican que el uso excesivo de los medios virtuales tiene consecuencias más negativas que positivas en las relaciones sentimentales, ya que ocasiona conflictos permanentes de desconfianza, de celos y aumento de la dependencia emocional, cuyas soluciones son el diálogo o la ruptura definitiva.

En el año 2010 salió a la luz la primera edición en disco compacto Digesto Constitucional Mexicano. (Aguascalientes), de la autoría de Manuel González Oropeza y David Cienfuegos Salgado, editado por la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación. Y a partir de este primer número, han salido otros discos dedicados a cada uno de los Estados. En esta obra se reúne la historia constitucional y legislativa de cada entidad federativa, en donde se incluye su primera constitución y también los debates de las distintas constituciones promulgadas a lo largo de su historia, se da cuenta de las reformas constitucionales y de los integrantes de los tres poderes del estado, para ofrecer al lector una visión cronológica y temática del desarrollo constitucional de cada Estado, con el único objetivo de divulgar su evolución constitucional como integrantes del federalismo mexicano surgido en el siglo XIX. En esta colección se aprecia la uniformidad de instituciones constitucionales de las entidades federativas mexicanas, pero a la vez las diferencias en su implementación y concepción, según sus propias características.

A questão urbana tem demandado de pesquisadores de diversas áreas intercessões no sentido de compreender os processos de formação das cidades para então, traçar possibilidades de modificação da realidade, principalmente onde o crescimento se deu de forma desordenada, com fragilidades ou mesmo ausência de planejamento. Este trabalho tem como proposta delinear um panorama geral, que se inicia com uma breve retrospectiva histórica dos processos de crescimento e desenvolvimento das cidades. Na segunda seção, apresenta-se o arcabouço teórico que auxilia na compreensão de aspectos atuais sobre o urbano. Para este intento, recorre-se ao pensamento de Henri Lefebvre, David Harvey e Manuel Castells, os quais, a partir de uma apropriação de categorias da Economia Política, incluem a noção de espaço no debate marxista. A terceira parte é composta por estudos específicos da realidade chinesa e brasileira. São observados os processos de urbanização das metrópoles na China e no Brasil, indicando a intensa atividade do Estado, com a centralidade do planejamento na articulação de infraestrutura para o país asiático e, em contraposição, o crescimento desordenado e o abandono do planejamento urbano que se observa no caso brasileiro.

Abstract:
En este artículo mostramos una línea de trabajo artístico desde el punto de vista de la concienciación y sostenibilidad medioambiental, a través del ámbito de la investigación pictórica. En este sentido presentamos una serie de obra con un trasfondo de crítica medioambiental, exponiendo el paisaje desde un segundo plano, desde una perspectiva artificial y humana, resaltando rotundos cambios entre lo natural y antinatural a través de recursos como el muro o la ventana. Respecto a este recurso, la ventana, hacemos un breve análisis de algunos de los artistas que lo han trabajado, artistas como: Andrew Wyeth, David Hockney, Antonio López, Manuel Avellaneda, entre otros. En la investigación pictórica y compositiva aparecen numerosas figuras retóricas que interponen un constante diálogo conceptual y plástico. El trabajo mencionado ha sido expuesto en dos exhibiciones individuales, editándose un catálogo con la obra. Entre otros objetivos, el principal de este artículo es mostrar algunas reacciones más significativas del espectador ante algunas de las creaciones. A modo de resultados se muestra que, entre la diversidad de los visitantes, se observan reacciones interesantes que interpretamos como evidentes reflexiones que conducen hacia un acercamiento al concepto inicial que se plantea, la transformación del paisaje representada a través de la pintura.

Abstract:
This essay employs a visual approach to explore some of the ways that spatial practices become markers of a globalising and glocalizing world. Images are offered that reflect some of the symbolic competition created by more and less recent migrants as they lay claim to ‘contested terrains’ by changing what they look like. Although often dismissed as mere “marking” of territory, such ordinary practices by migrants of symbolic home or community building are crucial to understanding global cities. One indicator of their importance is the, often hostile reactions by the dominant society to them. A brief review of some of the most important theoretical perspectives on these interrelated phenomena, such as those of Saskia Sassen, David Harvey, and Manuel Castells, isolates common expectations about the visibility of resulting competing spatial practices in shared multiethnic residential and commercial environments. It is argued that many of the contradictions created by the concentration of global capital can be seen in the neighborhood streetscapes of global cities. From Georg Simmel, through Henri Lefebvre, and Lyn H. Lofland, the visible, and the symbolic, have been central to urban analysis. Therefore, the ubiquitous aspects of what Jackson called ‘vernacular landscapes,’ such as commercial signs and graffiti in Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, London, New York, and Rome are addressed.

Este ensayo examina la función de los retratos y las situaciones metateatrales, que en algunos casos forman microdramas. Primero, se explicará el metateatro como recurso dramático, en términos de las funciones y las subcategorías, según la investigación académica reciente, incluso el trabajo de Lionel Abel, Kate Flaherty, Richard Hornby, Manfred Pfister, Alejandro Paredes, Marnie Lange Roodi, y Bruce Wardropper. Segundo, las comedias El vergonzoso en palacio (Tirso de Molina), y El pintor de su deshonra (Calderón), serán analizadas, prestando atención específica al uso del retrato como recurso dramático, que a veces crea un microdrama, y las múltiples situaciones metateatrales en las obras dramáticas, enfocándose especialmente en las situaciones que son microdramas. Aquí, se citará la investigación importante en estas comedias, por ejemplo, el trabajo académico de Manuel Sito Alba, Jane Albrecht, Laura Bass, Raymond Conlon, Clark Colahan, David Darst, Frederick de Armas, and Susan Fischer. Ultimamente, las escenas importantes de los retratos y las situaciones metateatrales significantes son microdramas, y estos microdramas ayudan en el establecimiento de la relación entre el actor y el espectador. Teorizando sobre la conceptualización cinematográfica del espacio, este trabajo pone bajo escrutinio dos largometrajes de la directora y guionista estadounidense Sofía Coppola, Lost in Translation (2003) y Somewhere (2010), para analizar las técnicas personales de la representación espacial y cómo éstas ayudan en el planteamiento ideológico y/o moral de la obra. Se relacionará el espacio fílmico con el espacio real, subrayando la diferencia entre la creación metódica del primero —la cual tiene el fin estético de paralelar o contrastar el ánima humana que lo transita— y la inabarcable existencia del segundo —que también resulta indiferente a sus ocupantes—. Tomando el concepto de «no-lugar» ideado por Marc Augé y ampliando su abanico de utilización al traerlo al campo del espacio representado de manera audiovisual, se discute cómo la acepción de este término puede concordar con la construcción del espacio fílmico llevada a cabo por la directora, ejemplificando con escenas y demás aspectos de cada filme en particular. Además, se aplican las ideas antropológicas de Manuel Delgado en la discusión sobre la posible filiación moral del espacio fílmico con la del espacio real, para finalmente adoptar el punto de vista sociológico a partir del trabajo de David Riesman en un intento por establecer la posibilidad de redención o apropiación del espacio por parte de los personajes de cada filme.

Background:Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the most significant comorbidities of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), increasing the mortality in these patients [1,2]. Although the pathogenesis of ILD associated to RA (RA-ILD+) remains poorly defined [1], it is known that vascular tissue plays a crucial role in lung physiology [3]. In this context, a population of cells termed endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) are involved in vasculogenesis and endothelial tissue repair [4]. Previous reports suggest the implication of EPC in different conditions such as RA and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), the most common and destructive ILD [5,6]. Nevertheless, little is known about their specific role in RA-ILD+.Objectives:The purpose of this study was to shed light on the potential role of EPC in endothelial damage in RA-ILD+.Methods:Peripheral venous blood was collected from a total of 68 individuals (18 with RA-ILD+, 17 with RA-ILD-, 19 with IPF and 14 healthy controls). All subjects were recruited from the Rheumatology and Pneumology departments of Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla, Santander, Spain. Quantification of EPC was analyzed by the expression of surface antigens by flow cytometry. The combination of antibodies against the stem cell marker CD34, the immature progenitor marker CD133, the endothelial marker VEGF receptor 2 (CD309) and the common leukocyte antigen CD45 was used. EPC were considered as CD34+, CD45Low, CD309+and CD133+. All statistical analyses were performed using Prism software 5 (GraphPad).Results:EPC frequency was significantly increased in patients with RA-ILD+, RA-ILD-and IPF compared to controls (p=0.001, p=0.002, p< 0.0001, respectively). Nevertheless, patients with RA, both RA-ILD+and RA-ILD-, showed a lower frequency of EPC than those with IPF (p= 0.048, p= 0.006, respectively).Conclusion:Our results provide evidence for a potential role of EPC as a reparative compensatory mechanism related to endothelial damage in RA-ILD+, RA-ILD-and IPF patients. Abstract:
Anticlericalism was a decisive trend in Spanish political, social, and cultural life from the beginning of the nineteenth century until the Spanish Civil War. It is true that anticlerical movements also existed in other European states, but the confrontations were much more intense in Spain. José M. Sánchez recalls this in a concise summary of the violence unleashed by these struggles: from 1822 to 1936, at least 235 members of the clergy were assassinated and around 500 churches and religious centres were burned. In addition, in the three years of the Civil War, almost 7,000 priests, monks and nuns suffered the same fate. Despite this, until a few years ago there were frequent complaints about the scant attention paid by Spanish historians to this trend. Julio de la Cueva Merino referred to this lack of research, and even to the ‘historiographic vacuum’, in a summary of publications on the subject which appeared in 1991. Three years later, Pilar Salomón mentioned the ‘absence of fruitful bibliographic production’, and, as recently as 1997, Rafael Cruz spoke of a ‘shortage of works’, or at least a very scarce production of monographs. Outside the field of history, anthropologists such as David Gilmore and Manuel Delgado have likewise criticized the lack of interest of their colleagues in the face of what Gilmore defined as ‘as powerful a social and ideological phenomenon as devotion’, and which should deserve the same intellectual consideration.
