Abstract:
Teleoperated robotic surgical systems such as daVinci are widely used for laparoscopic surgeries. The currently available daVinci system does not provide haptic feedback. Prior research has shown that the addition of haptic feedback improves surgeons' performance during minimally invasive surgeries. Other authors have implemented haptic feedback in the daVinci robot, but some issues made them impractical for clinical use. In this work, two strain gauge force-sensing devices were created for the patient side manipulator of the daVinci surgical robot. These devices were designed to be easily added to the existing system and used for the real-time force feedback in the daVinci robot. The proposed system has high sensitivity and resolution, matches the required force measurement range, and has high signal-to-noise ratio, which implies high signal quality. However, the absolute errors of the currently built devices are high due to the manufacturing techniques used on the prototype that could be improved upon for a deployed device. This work demonstrates fast 3-DOF force measurements on the daVinci robot without any robot or instrument modifications. While the present system has significant systematic errors, these can be mitigated by altering the mechanical design to improve the accuracy of the system.

Hwang, Sunwoo. "Hope for the restoration of the Davidic kingdom in the light of the Davidic covenant in Chronicles." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/5465.

Full text
Abstract:
Chronicles was composed in the postexilic period when the Jews were without their own king and were living under the rule of the Persian Empire and the Greek dynasties of the Ptolemies and Seleucids. In view of the apparently eternal nature of the Davidic covenant (2 Sam 7:11b-16), this loss of sovereignty would have posed a difficult problem for the Jews. To be sure, Zerubbabel, grandson of Jehoiachin, penultimate king of the Davidic kingdom, was appointed as governor of Yehud by the Persian king Darius (Hag 1:1) and received YHWH’s promise of being his ‘signet ring’ (Hag 2:23); however, he could not and did not re-establish the kingdom of David. When the Jews lost their political leadership in the postexilic period, religious personnel appeared to play an increasingly important role as leaders of the Temple centered community. Along with Zerubbabel, Joshua, the high priest of the Jewish community that had returned from the exile, led the project of rebuilding the Temple (Hag 1:1; Ezra 3:2). The book of Chronicles reflects this Temple-centered community and deals in much detail with issues relating to the cultic personnel. The two main figures in Chronicles, David and Solomon, are presented respectively as the one who prepares (1 Chr 22; 28:1-29:20), and the one who completes (2 Chr 2:1-5:1) the Temple building project. Furthermore, the Chronicler evaluates the Judaic kings who reigned after Solomon in relation to their piety and their service in the Temple.5 Those who were considered ‘good’ kings worshipped God in the Temple according to the divine commandment, diligently repairing and restoring the Temple, whereas those who were considered ‘bad’ kings were negligent in their worship of YHWH and in their preservation of the Temple. In the context of this postexilic Temple-centred cultic society, the question may be asked: Does the Chronicler hope for the revival of the Davidic kingdom in view of the seemingly and eternally binding, unconditional Davidic covenant (2 Sam 7:12-16; 1 Chr 17:11-14), or is he satisfied with its replacement by the postexilic, Temple-centered cultic society?.

Jay, Julien P. A. "Modelling the germination of Buddleia Davidii under constant conditions with the hydrothermal time concept." Thesis, University of Canterbury. Forestry, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/1100.

Full text
Abstract:
Buddleia davidii is a weed naturalized in New Zealand. It invades radiata pine plantations and causes major growth reduction and economic losses. Modelling its germination for predicting its occurrence will help foresters minimise its influence in forest plantations. Germination experiments have been carried out in laboratory to assess the influence of seed origin, defoliation, temperature and water stress on germination. Defoliation treatments did not significantly affect germination. The pattern of germination for seeds from four different places within New Zealand revealed so little difference that there is no need to define different models according to the site considered. However this similarity in germination pattern is limited to New Zealand and cannot be generalised to other countries where germination appears to be significantly different. The germination of Buddleia davidii seed appeared to be a function of hydrothermal time. The base, optimum and ceiling temperatures for Buddleia are respectively 9, 25 and from 30 to 35?, and Buddleia seed germinate between 0 and approximately -6 bars. In constant conditions, the predicted germination for Buddleia davidii with the thermal time model was limited to sub-optimal temperatures and the hydrotime and hydrothermal time models described well the germination pattern at any temperature and water potential. The modified hydrothermal time model proposed by Alvarado and Bradford (2002) most accurately predicted germination although it tended to overestimate the asymptotes. Overall the hydrothermal time model allowed prediction of actual timing of germination with much accuracy. This threshold model can therefore be used for modelling the germination of Buddleia davidii subjected to constant temperature and water potential conditions.

Stirling, A. Mark. "Transformation and growth : the Davidic temple builder in Ephesians." Thesis, University of St Andrews, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/10023/2537.

Full text
Abstract:
The focus of this thesis is on the way in which the theology of the author of the Epistle to the Ephesians is both shaped by and shapes the appropriation of OT texts and themes, especially in Eph 2:11-22. This reveals an overarching theme, not only in 2:11-22, but in the whole letter, of the Davidic scion who builds his new temple consisting of Jews and Gentiles together. The creation and growth of this new humanity is expressed using temple imagery and by appropriating OT texts that are concerned with the eschatological pilgrimage of the Gentiles to Zion. Ephesians is concerned with the transformed walking that is inherent to membership of the Messiah’s people. It is further concerned that this corporate entity should function as God’s dwelling place on earth; unity and loving relationships therefore being the burden of Ephesians’ paraenesis. This entire process is summed up at the gateway to the letter’s paraenesis in the phrase “learn the Messiah.” The discipleship thus conceived is about much more than (but not less than) individual transformation. The temple/dwelling place theme imparts a corporate dimension to growth that is crucial if the Messiah’s people are to function as they ought. This functioning is given further definition, however, by the expansionist element introduced by the temple theme and texts, as well as the framing of membership of the Messiah’s people in explicitly covenantal terms. Ephesians may thus be seen as a letter whose purpose is to induct believers into the privileges and responsibilities of the Messiah’s new humanity, to give them the self understanding that they constitute corporately the new temple and to convince them that the manner of their “walking” is the means by which the unity and integrity of God’s dwelling place is both expressed and maintained.

Hallac, Bassem Bishara. "Fundamental understanding of the biochemical conversion of Buddleja davidii to fermentable sugars." Diss., Georgia Institute of Technology, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/1853/39551.

Full text
Abstract:
Lignocellulosic bioethanol is currently being explored as a substitution to fossil fuels. Many lignocellulosic materials are being examined but the importance is to find those with attractive agro-energy features. Producing lignocellulosic ethanol is challenging because lignocellulosic biomass is resistant to chemical and biological degradation. To reduce biomass recalcitrance, a pretreatment stage is required. Pretreatment is considered to be the most intensive operating/operating cost component of cellulosic ethanol production. Therefore, research is heavily focused on understanding the effect of pretreatment technologies on the fundamental characteristics of lignocellulosic biomass. The first study in the thesis investigates Buddleja davidii as a potential biomass source for bioethanol production. The work focuses on the determination of ash, extractives, lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose content in this plant, as well as detailed elucidation of the chemical structures of both lignin and cellulose by NMR spectroscopy. The study showed that B. davidii has several unique agro-energy features as well as some undesired characteristics. The second study presents research on the ethanol organosolv pretreatment (EOP) of B. davidii and its ability to produce enzymatically hydrolysable substrates. It was concluded that the removal of hemicellulose, delignification, reduction in the degree of polymerization (DP) of cellulose, and the conversion of crystalline cellulose dimorphs (Iα/Iβ) to the easily degradable para-crystalline and amorphous celluloses were the characteristics accounted for efficient enzymatic deconstruction of B. davidii after EOP. The third study provides a detailed elucidation of the chemical structure of ethanol organosolv lignin (EOL) of B. davidii by NMR spectroscopy. Such research was needed to understand the pretreatment mechanism in the context of delignification and alteration of the lignin structure. Future applications of the resulted EOL will be valuable for industrially viable bioethanol production process. EOP mainly cleaved β-O-4' interlinkages via homolysis, decreased the DP of lignin, and increased the degree of condensation of lignin. EOL had low oxygen content, molecular weight, and aliphatic OH as well as high phenolic OH, which are qualities that make it suitable for different co-product applications. The last study provides information on the anatomical characteristics of pretreated B. davidii biomass after EOP. The importance of this research was to further understand the alterations that occur to the cellular structure of the biomass which can then be correlated with its enzymatic digestibility. The results concluded that the physical distribution of lignin within the biomass matrix and the partial removal of middle lamella lignin were key factors influencing enzymatic hydrolysis.

Zolondek, Michael Vicko. "We have found the Messiah : the Twelve and the historical Jesus' Davidic messiahship." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/9462.

Abstract:
One of the most long-standing and controversial questions in historical Jesus research is that of whether Jesus was a Davidic messianic figure. This question is part of the broader ‘messianic question’, i.e., the question of whether Jesus thought of himself as a messiah and, if so, in what sense. Virtually every comprehensive work on the historical Jesus addresses this more focused Davidic messianic question at some point, as do numerous journal articles and essays in edited volumes. However, detailed studies devoted to this particular question are lacking. This dissertation is my attempt at such a study. I will divide this dissertation into two parts, each of which I believe offers a significant contribution to scholarship. The first, ‘Challenging the Status Quo’, will highlight three trends that I believe have dominated recent research on the Davidic messianic question with the aim being to demonstrate that the manner in which scholars have gone about answering this question is significantly problematic and that a fresh approach is therefore needed. I will then offer an approach that I believe will meet this need. The second part of this study, ‘The Making of Jesus the Davidic Messiah’, is where I will attempt to implement the fresh approach that I will have offered. More specifically, I will attempt to determine whether Jesus’ inner circle of disciples, i.e., the Twelve, viewed him as the Davidic Messiah and how Jesus behaved in response to this view. This group dynamic of which Jesus was a part will then serve as the basis on which I will offer my answer to the Davidic messianic question. In the end, examining this interplay between Jesus and the Twelve leads me to conclude that the historical Jesus was, in fact, a Davidic messianic figure. It would be ideal if I could convince others of this and perhaps move scholars closer to a consensus. However, even if I cannot accomplish this, it is my hope that this study will at least continue to move research on the Davidic messianic question forward.

Abstract:
This work examines one theme within Luke's Old Testament christology, that of the coming king from the line of David. An examination of the first century context of meaning reveals that at the turn of the Christian era there was a widespread and relatively stable hope for a Davidic messiah within a broader context of eschatological diversity. The early Christian communities took up these expectations and applied them to Jesus, confessing him to be the Christ now 'raised up' in fulfilment of scripture. (chs. 1-2). An examination of the birth narrative and the speeches in Acts reveals that Luke shows a strong interest in this Davidic theme, introducing it into passages which are introductory and programmatic for his christology as a whole. Jesus is the promised messiah, who through his life, death, resurrection and exaltation-enthronement has fulfilled the promises to David. (chs. 3-4). Despite this strong royal-messianic presentation in the nativity and in Acts, Luke's programmatic Nazareth sermon portrays Jesus as the prophet-herald of Isaiah 61.1-2. This has caused many scholars to describe Luke's christology as essentially prophetic, rather than royal. The present work argues that a better solution lies in Luke's reading of Isaiah as a unity, where the eschatological deliverer is at the same time Davidic king (Isa 9,11), suffering servant of Yahweh (Isa 40-55), and prophet-herald (Isa 61). This synthesis not only fits Luke's christological portrait and strong interest in Isaiah, but it also explains why Luke presents Jesus' messianic task as an 'exodus' he is about to fulfil in Jerusalem (Lk 9.31). In Isaiah and other prophets, the coming Davidic king is often presented as the agent of the eschatological new exodus (cf. Isa 11.1-16). For Luke Jesus is the Davidic messiah who (like Moses) leads God's people on an eschatological new exodus through suffering as the servant of Yahweh. (chs 5-6).

Jumper, James Nicholas. "Honor and Shame in the Deuteronomic Covenant and the Deuteronomistic Presentation of the Davidic Covenant." Thesis, Harvard University, 2013. http://dissertations.umi.com/gsas.harvard:10892.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this dissertation is to identify the semantics of honor and shame in the Hebrew Bible and to demonstrate how these social values intersect with Israel's fundamental social organizing principle, covenant. Though many scholars have claimed that honor and shame are pivotal values for biblical Israel and that covenant is fundamental to her conception of the divine-human relationship, no work attempting to explore the juncture of these two important social phenomena has appeared. Thus, our study has two major goals: (1) establish the semantics of honor and shame in the Hebrew Bible; and (2) demonstrate that honor and shame, however conceived in context, are pivotal to biblical Israel's understanding of her covenantal relationship with YHWH in Deuteronomy 28 and 2 Samuel 7. With regard to Deuteronomy 28, which defines Israel’s understanding of covenantal fidelity, we show that honor is depicted as pre-eminent military and economic status among the nations and as a major goal of the covenantal blessings and designed to motivate Israel to greater loyalty (vv. 1, 13). Shame, however, is not just the loss of pre-eminent status (vv. 44, 48), but also the loss of social existence (v. 68). The explicit covenantal formulation of both values appears unique to Israel, despite her adoption of other ancient Near Eastern covenantal forms. With regard to the 2 Samuel 7, we argue YHWH honors David and Zadok with eternal royal and priestly positions because Saul and Eli failed to honor YHWH (e.g., 1 Sam 2:30), but also because David and Zadok would be loyal (e.g., 2:35). As a result, David will be given “a name like the name of all of the great ones of the earth” (2 Sam 7:9), denoting David’s military superiority (8:13). Moreover, we show that from a Deuteronomistic prespective, the discipline of the Davidides in 2 Samuel 7:14–15, entails royal shaming (1 Kgs 11:31). Thus, we prove that, while honor and shame are variously conceived in both covenants, they are pivotal to our understanding of the divine-human relationship in the Hebrew Bible.

Abstract:
One of the characteristic features in Matthew’s Gospel is his emphasis of the title ‘Son of David’ in Jesus’ healings. However, there is sparse reference to the expectation of a ‘healing messiah’ in Jewish literature. Recent study has attempted to understand this issue within Jewish traditions by focusing on the shepherding motif in Ezekiel 34 (Matt 9:36; 10:6; 15:24). While this result seems convincing for some scholars, another issue may arise relating to Jesus’ healing ministry: Why does Matthew quote explicitly (Matt 8:17; 12:18-21) from Isaiah (Isa 53:4; 42:1-4), but only alludes to Ezekiel 34? This thesis will seek to demonstrate that the phenomenon of ‘healing messiah’ is a product of Matthew’s reflection upon early Jewish traditions rooted in the Old Testament as well as upon the received Christian traditions, and that the varying aspects of the depiction of Jesus in healings suggested in recent studies are, to some extent, dependent upon their methodological approaches. Through the employment of appropriate methods, a more comprehensive picture of Jesus as the healer will emerge in this thesis. The Matthean presentation of the ‘healing Son of David’ is traced to Jewish messianic expectations, which understand the establishment of justice as a function of a Davidic kingship (Isa 11:4-5; Jer 35:5; Ezek 34:16; Ps 72:1-3; cf. Pss. Sol. 17). For Matthew, the Davidic theme provides a framework to elaborate healing aspects of Jesus (as ‘servant’ and ‘shepherd’) and to emphasize the nature of his kingship, in which healings belong to a category of care for the marginalized. This depiction of Jesus contributes to the understanding of christology of Matthew’s Gospel, and also serves as a critique towards the traditional Jewish expectation of a militant Davidic messiah (cf. Pss. Sol. 17-18) as well as towards the Roman imperial rule.

Abstract:
This thesis is a literary-critical analysis of the Gospel of Matthew and its interaction with Davidic tradition and use of Davidic typology. Throughout the narrative, the evangelist makes pervasive use of Davidic tradition from the Old Testament in his portrayal of Jesus. This begins from the first verse and the declaration that Jesus is the Son of David, and culminates in Jesus' usage of Psalm 22's Davidic lament on the cross. The incipit and genealogy predisposes the reader to look for interaction with the Davidic tradition. Matthew's Davidic program utilizes throughout the narrative formal quotations, allusions, and echoes to the Davidic tradition found particularly in the OT prophets. In addition, Matthew makes use of Davidic typology numerous times, with David as type and Jesus as anti-type. This is done in order to present to the reader a scripturally-grounded redefinition of what it means for Jesus to be the Son of David: not as a violent militant leader, as was expected, but as a physical descendant of David, a healing shepherd, and a humble king. Within the Gospel, Matthew utilizes Davidic typology to show how the Son of David even has similar experiences as his royal predecessor. Even David's own words from the psalms are utilized as testimony to the legitimacy of Jesus as the Davidic Messiah.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the link between Paul's belief that Jesus is Israel's Messiah and his interpretation of the Abrahamic land promise in Galatians. It counters claims that Paul replaces the Promised Land with the gift of the Holy Spirit or salvation. Instead, this thesis argues that Paul expands the inheritance to include the whole earth because he believes that, as the seed of Abraham and David, Jesus is entitled to the entire earth as his inheritance and kingdom. For Paul, then, God's promise to Abraham will be fulfilled when believers share in the worldwide inheritance of the Son. This thesis demonstrates that scholars neglect Paul's expanded interpretation of the inheritance because they rarely appreciate the role that messianism plays in Galatians. I contend that they fail to appreciate the role of messianism because they do not acknowledge a central point of contact between Jewish and Pauline messianism. This point of contact is that royal and messianic figures are often portrayed as God's means of fulfilling the land promises through the establishment of their kingdoms. An examination of several second temple texts will show that authors often tie the actions of royal and messianic figures to the final realisation of the land promises. In many of these accounts, these messianic figures establish kingdoms that are worldwide. Turning to believe heirs is a manifestation of Second Temple messianism because Paul argues that faith in Christ is sufficient to allow believers to share in the inheritance that belongs to Christ as seed and Son. For Paul, that inheritance is the whole renewed earth. Thus, Paul's interpretation of the Abrahamic inheritance is inseparable from his belief that Jesus is Israel's Messiah.

ABSTRACT - Freshwater shrimp farming has become a highly valuable business, with Asian countries being the biggest producers. Almost all ornamental shrimp are produced from aquaculture. Guaranteeing the well-being of these animals has the direct consequence of increasing production. Two experiments were elaborated with the objective of studying the behaviour of Neocaridina davidi var. red when exposed to different coloured light spectrums. In the first experiment, adult shrimp Neocaridina davidi var. red (n=120) were distributed in four tanks. Changes in behaviour when exposed to different colored light spectrums were studied during four weeks. Each of these tanks contained a group of fifteen shrimp and a different coloured LED light spectrum, white, blue, red and green. Every week different groups of fifteen shrimp were placed in each tank. In the second experiment, adult shrimp Neocaridina davidi var. red (n=6) were distributed in four tanks. Changes in behavior when exposed to different colored light spectrums were studied during twenty days. Each of these tanks contained a group of fifteen shrimp and a different coloured LED light spectrum, white, blue, red and green. Every five days the LED lights were changed in each tank and the group of shrimp remained the same. Significant differences (p<0,05) were found between the mean number of shrimp observed in each light spectrum used in both experiments. These results indicate that the light spectrum used influences Neocaridina davidi var. red’s behavior, having preference for a light in the visible spectrum corresponding to the colour red.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to evaluate dietary intake of population in five Lithuanian regions and to assess the relationship between diet and dyslipidemias in 1987–2007. For each survey, a stratified independent random sample was drawn from the lists of the inhabitants aged 25–64 years. Food frequency questionnaire and 24-h recall was used for dietary assessment. The diet of Lithuanian adult population did not meet the recommendations for healthy nutrition. It was characterized by high intake of fat, especially saturated, cholesterol, and sugars. The food groups, which are the main sources of energy and nutrients in the diet of Lithuanians, were indentified. The association between dietary pattern and serum lipid profile was assessed. For the first time in Lithuania, the contribution of dietary changes on the changes of serum total cholesterol over 20 years was evaluated. This is the first study, which assessed the association of apolipoprotein E genotype, saturated fatty acids intake and lipid level in Lithuanian population. Analysis of gene-diet interaction did not confirm that effects of diet on total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol statistically significant depend on APOE genotype.

Thomas, Marc Merlin. "The effects of defoliation on seasonal growth dynamics, the importance of internal nitrogen-recycling and the availability of soil nutrients: implications for the invasive potential of Buddleia davidii (Franch.)." Thesis, University of Canterbury. Biological Sciences, 2007. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/1477.

Full text
Abstract:
ABSTRACT Assessing the impact of herbivory on plant growth and reproduction is important to predict the success of biocontrol of invasive plants. Leaf area production is most important, as photosynthesis provides the foundation for all plant growth and fitness. High levels of defoliation generally reduce the productivity of plants. However, leaf area production fluctuates during the season and compensational growth may occur, which both complicate accurate estimations of defoliation impacts. Under field conditions the interaction with neighbouring species and the availability of soil nutrients need to be assessed in order to gauge long term effects of weed invasions on natural environments. In this thesis I have investigated seasonal leaf area dynamics in Buddleia davidii following repeated artificial defoliation, to quantify compensational leaf production and to understand the regulatory mechanisms involved. The impact of defoliation on photosynthesis, seed production, germination and nitrogen translocation patterns were analysed. Finally, possible facilitation between B. davidii and a native nitrogen fixer, Coriaria arborea, and the impact of B. davidii on soil nutrient availability were investigated. In defoliated B. davidii, increased node production (34%), leaf size (35%) and leaf longevity (12%) resulted in 52% greater total emergent leaf area in the short term. However, with time and diminishing tissue resources the compensation declined. No upregulation of photosynthesis was observed in pre-existing leaves. Compensational leaf area production occurred at the expense of reproduction but the germination capacity of individual seeds was unaffected. In B. davidii, nitrogen reserves are stored in old leaves. Thus, the defoliation-induced decline in tissue reserves led to changes in the remobilisation pattern and increased the importance of soil uptake but biomass production especially that of roots had declined significantly (39%). Slight facilitation effects from the neighbouring nitrogen fixer and VA-mycorrhizae were observed on B. davidii in the field, while its impact on soil chemistry during spring was negligible. Defoliation of B. davidii resulted in priority allocation of resources to compensational leaf growth and a concomitant reduction in flower and seed production. The compensational leaf production greatly increased the demand for nitrogen, while continued leaf removal decreased the pool of stored nitrogen. This led to changes in nitrogen remobilisation and an increased importance of root uptake. However, the significant decline in root growth will likely impair adequate nutrient uptake from the soil, which is especially important where B. davidii invades nutrient poor habitats and will increase the success of biocontrol of the species. While mycorrhizae increase nutrient accessibility for B. davidii, it is likely that the additional stress of defoliation will negate the small facilitative effects from nitrogen-fixing species like C. arborea. This research provides new insights into the mechanisms regulating leaf area dynamics at the shoot level and systemic physiological responses to defoliation in plants, such as nitrogen translocation. The compensation in leaf area production was considerable but only transitory and thus, the opportunity to alleviate effects of leaf loss though adjustment of light capture limited. However, to ascertain that photosynthesis at whole plant level does not increase after defoliation, more detailed measurements especially on new grown leaves are necessary. In general, defoliation had greatly reduced plant growth and performance so that an optimistic outlook for controlling this species can be given. Conclusions about the wider impacts of B. davidii on soil chemistry and community function will require further research.

Bosch, Hermann David. "Understanding the levels of central bank independence in the SADC and their impact on policy descision making / Hermann Davin Bosch." Thesis, North West University, 2013. http://hdl.handle.net/10394/13572.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to understand the influence of Central Bank Independence on policy decision making in the SADC. The study made use of an interpretivistic research paradigm and followed a mixed method approach using an interpretative- Quantitative methodology. A literature review based on books, articles, previous research projects and the internet was done in order to gain a better understanding of central bank independence. Secondly the various central bank acts of the SADC member countries were studied in order to determine the level of independence that each central Bank have. It was found that most of the SADC Central banks do not have a high degree of independence. Various indexes were used to quantify the levels of independence among the various central banks. Substantial differences exist in the level of independence among the various central banks. This makes the feasibility of successful monetary policy convergence within the SADC very unlikely. Any monetary convergence would have to include a unified legal framework within which monetary policy will be executed. The ultimate aim of monetary convergence is a single currency and a single central bank. In order for the process of monetary policy convergence to move forward within the SADC reforms to the current central bank legislation will have to be undertaken. Legislation will have to ensure central bank independence within member countries. It is suggested that central bank independence also be entrenched in the constitutions of the various countries.
