Abstract:
The central aim of this thesis is to examine the multiple dimensions of poverty, using the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS, 2008 and 2011) for the Punjab province of Pakistan. The thesis is based on three core chapters, with a focus on the measurement and determinants (particularly household size) of poverty. Chapter 3 calculates and analyses the multidimensional poverty index (MPI) developed by Alkire and Foster (2007) and the destitution measure (strict subset of the MPI), using health, education and standard of living dimensions for 2011. Chapter 4 extends the multidimensional pove

This study was prompted by my feelings of ignorance and insecurity as a newly approved foster carer welcoming a traumatised five year old child in to our home. What I perceived to be an inadequate preparation for the everyday practicalities of fostering was exacerbated by the lack of communication between and amongst social workers and foster carers. Yet at study days, I observed that experienced foster carers appeared to have acquired a practice wisdom that I was lacking and unable to access. As a result, my initial questions were as follows. This research addresses some of the neglected non-program dimensions related to stagnant fertility transition in Pakistan. Previous research identified a range of factors influencing fertility in Pakistan, particularly the effect of distortions in reported ages, fertility inhibiting variables, timing of first marriage and first birth, and birth intervals. The literature provides evidence that there is no systematic analysis of these dimensions particularly at the regional levels. The research implements the grounded theory and in-depth interview research method, conducting 108 interviews in different regions of Taiwan from 2010 to 2013. The main argument is that identity in and of itself is merely a generic label, which does not cause emotions or behaviours - people know they are ascribed to certain categories, but they lack of motivations to take actions for the categorical groups.

However, the base is prone to environmentally induced stress cracking and this a major concern to bottle manufacturers.
