Abstract:
Lo studio delle cause genetiche di infertilità maschile derivanti da alterazioni cromosomiche, geniche e microdelezioni della regione AZF è ben standardizzato e le metodiche attualmente in uso sono sufficienti ad individuarle e caratterizzarle. Per quanto riguarda invece le delezioni parziali dei geni multicopia presenti sul cromosoma Y, e potenziali causa di infertilità, non esiste ancor oggi una tecnica semplice e univoca che ne permetta un¿esatta discriminazione e quantizzazione. Il nostro studio si è incentrato sul cluster DAZ poichè oltre ad essere un gene multi copia, è attualmente uno dei maggiori geni candidati per il fenotipo AZF. Al fine di individuare delezioni parziali del cluster DAZ sono stati utilizzati differenti approcci molecolari: Single Variant Nucleotide (SNV), Real Time PCR, Sequenziamento.

Abstract:
Nach einem ersten Fachtag im Jahr 2016, auf dem ehrenamtliche Deutschvermittlungspraxen sichtbar gemacht und Theorie und Praxis in einen Dialog gebracht wurden, ging der Austausch um die den Spracherwerb und die Vermittlung der Sprache von Anfang an betreffenden Herausforderungen in eine neue Phase. Hierbei galt, miteinander zu sprechen, einander zuzuhören statt übereinander zu urteilen. In gemeinsamer Trägerschaft mit dem Netzwerk Dresden für Alle (DfA), mit Unterstützung des Fachverbandes Deutsch als Fremd- und Zweitsprache (fadaf e.V.) und in Zusammenarbeit mit weiteren Kooperationspartnern fand im Herbst 2017, initiiert, organisiert und dokumentiert vom Zentrum für Integrationsstudien der TU Dresden (ZfI), der zweite Fachtag statt. Abstract:
Unterrichtsplanung gehört zu den zentralen Aufgaben für Lehrende. Insbesondere in den Bereichen DaZ und DaF (sowie DaM) müssen sie sich dabei neuen Herausforderungen stellen, was auch Auswirkungen auf die Lehrerendenausbildung hat. So muss sich einerseits das Fach DaFZ vermehrt mit Unterricht im schulischen Kontext beschäftigen, während andererseits DaM-Lehrende zunehmend Kinder mit DaZ-und DaM-Hintergrund gemeinsam unterrichten müssen(vgl. Geist/Krafft 2017;Siebert-Ott 2010). Die Ausbildung der Lehrenden für einen solchen Deutschunterricht an Regelschulen wird häufig von universitären DaF/DaZ-Abteilungen und -Instituten geleistet. Auch in DaF-Kontexten wird der Blick für die heterogenen Voraussetzungen, Bedürfnisse und Lernkontexte immer mehr geschärft und Zielgruppen-und Standortspezifika spielen eine zunehmend wichtige Rolle (vgl. Martinez 2016; Rösler 2016; Riemer 2015; Herzig u. a.2015). Das wirkt sich unmittelbar auf die Planungsaufgaben Lehrender aus: sie werden komplexer, vielfältiger und erfordern flexible Gestaltungsweisen und Lösungen. Insofern scheint es angebracht, aus dem Fach DaFZ heraus angebotene Planungshilfen und die zugrundeliegenden Planungsmodelle und -theorien auf ihre Passgenauigkeit für solche heterogenen Zielgruppen und unterschiedlichen institutionellen Kontexte zu prüfen.

Abstract:
La région AZFc du bras long du chromosome Y est une des régions les moins stables du génome humain. Elle est composée de multiples palindromes entraînant différents types de réarrangements, dont certains seraient associés à l'infertilité masculine. Nous avons recherché les microréarrangements d'AZFc dans 2 populations : 344 hommes infertiles et 136 hommes d'une population contrôle (119 normospermiques et 17 présentant une azoospermie de type obstructif). Nous avons observé une fréquence élevée de remaniements génomiques (8,7%), avec des fréquences de délétions et de duplications similaires dans les deux populations. Les remaniements ont ensuite été caractérisés au niveau des gènes DAZ et CDY1 et au niveau des haplogroupes du chromosome Y. Nous avons également étudié l'expression des gènes de la famille DAZ par RT-PCR [reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction] quantitative « en temps réel» à partir de 30 biopsies testiculaires présentant des situations d'infertilité masculine bien identifiées. Différents profils d'expression ont été obtenus en fonction des gènes et des pathologies de la fertilité
The AZFc region on the Y chromosome long arm is one of the most unstable regions in the human genome. It consists almost entirely of very long repeats, is prone to rearrangement and some of them have been reported to be associated with male infertility. We screened two populations: 344 infertile patients and 136 controls for AZFc microrearrangements and we observed a high frequency of genomic rearrangements with similar frequency of deletions and duplications in both populations. Rearrangements were then characterized using DAZ and CDY 1 genes analyses and Y chromosome haplogroup determination. We also studied DAZ gene family expression by "real time" quantitative RT-PCR [reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction] from 30 testicular biopsies presenting distinct histological pictures. Different expression profiles were obtained according to the gene tested and the fertility status

Abstract:
Le centre organisateur de Spemann, situé dorsalement, participe à l’établissement de l’axe Dorso-Ventral et se différencie en structures axiales. J’ai étudié ces deux aspects de l’écusson embryonnaire, la structure analogue à l’Organisateur chez le poisson zèbre. La régionalisation DV des embryons résulte en partie de l’interaction entre les BMP, exprimés ventralement,et leurs antagonistes sécrétés dorsalement. J’ai montré que les antagonistes Nog1 et Fstl2 fonctionnent de façon redondante à Chd, un autre antagoniste des BMP, pendant les stades Blastula/Gastrula pour établir un gradient DV de BMP. Ensuite j’ai étudié le rôle des facteurs de transcription de la famille FoxA dans le développement des structures axiales. Ces facteurs sont requis pendant la gastrulation afin de maintenir l’identité des précurseurs de l’axe. Cette activité est partiellement redondante à celle de Flh. En conclusion, l’écusson participe à la formation de l’axe DV et à celle des structures axiales, en utilisant des molécules aux activités redondantes.

Abstract:
This two-part study investigates the word frequency of a total of 1296 vocabularies presented in the textbooks Digilär Tyska 3 and Lieber Deutsch 3 2.0, which correspond to the language proficiency level A2. The aim of the study was to investigate to what extent the designated vocabulary in the two textbooks represents the most frequent words in the German language. To determine this, the study was divided into two parts: In the first part, a quantitative study was conducted to answer the following research question: To what extent does the vocabulary in two German textbooks used in Swedish upper secondary schools represent the most frequent words in the German language? The chapter vocabularies were compared to the corpus-based frequency dictionary A Frequency Dictionary of German which lists the 4034 most frequent words in the German language. This study showed that both textbooks provided a high coverage of high frequency words with a percentage of 78% and 73%. Additionally, the vocabularies belonging to the vocabulary excerises in Digilär Tyska 3 were investigated and the result showed that 62% of these words had a low frequency and were not included in the frequency dictionary. Due to this low frequency coverage in the vocabulary exercises a need for a second part of the study was identified to investigate whether this vocabulary, despite its low frequency would still be important for the students to learn. Therefore, a second study with the following two research questions was conducted: Which themes do the low frequent words belong to? To what extent would each word separately in a low frequent composition come across as high frequent?The analyses in the second part of this study showed that the most dominating themes among the low frequency words were describing words, animals, hobbies and other. Consequently, it was argued that these themes could be relevant to address the students’ varying interests. Furthermore, the frequency analysis of the low frequency compositions showed that 13.8 % of the low frequency words could be seen as high frequent when the frequency of each word within a composition was taken into account. Based on these results, it was argued that students learning German with the help of these textbooks would encounter many high frequency words. However, it was stressed that frequency alone cannot be the only deciding factor when identifying the adequate vocabulary for language learners. Motivational aspects such as incorporating vocabulary belonging to themes that students have an interest in would be another important factor that needs to be taken into account when choosing vocabulary. Furthermore, it was argued that teachers should incorporate strategies for German word composition to increase their students’ vocabulary range.

Abstract:
The male germline of flowering plants is a simple lineage of two cell types: generative (germ) cell and sperm cells. An asymmetric division of the microspore during pollen (male gametophyte) development produces the germ cell, which goes on to divide to form a pair of sperm that later fuse with egg and central cells at double fertilisation. The production of functional sperm cells depends upon cell cycle progression and cell specification, and three regulatory proteins – the MYB transcription factor DUO1, and the C2H2 zinc finger proteins DAZ1 and DAZ2 - acting in a gene network have been identified in Arabidopsis to be essential for both of these processes. Expression of DAZ1/DAZ2 is triggered by DUO1, and DAZ1/DAZ2 show functional redundancy. Understanding the mechanisms by which DAZ1 and DAZ2 control male germline development was a major aim of this thesis. The first objective was to explore sequence diversity among DAZ1/DAZ2 flowering plant homologues. This study established that the number of zinc finger domains differed between species, and mutating the zinc finger domains of DAZ1 had different effects on DAZ1 function. Functional analysis of DAZ1 EAR motifs showed that these sequences are important for in planta activity. DAZ1 and DAZ2 interact with the transcriptional co-repressor TPL, and a second objective was to investigate the spatiotemporal expression pattern of TPL and its family members in pollen, with male germline expression was observed for TPL and TPR2. The final objective was to identify genes under the regulation of DAZ1/DAZ2. While DAZ1 was predicted to be a transcriptional repressor, through transcriptomics it was revealed that a broad suite of genes were positively regulated by DAZ1, overlapping with targets of DUO1. The findings communicated in this thesis provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms controlling male germline development.

This PhD thesis starts from the observation of constructions with the verb dar in Brazilian Portuguese and it proposes an analysis and classification of these constructions. The analysis of all constructions found in corpus is systematic and consistent, based on Transformational Grammar (HARRIS, 1964) and on Lexicon-Grammar approach (GROSS, 1975; GROSS, 1981). Both theories adopt formal and experimental criteria to make reproducible the identification of base sentences and the classification of constructions with the verb dar. The classification was based on structural and syntactic properties, leading to four classes or categories: (i) full verb or distributional verb, from which 8 verbal senses could be identified; (ii) causative operator verb, whose constructions could be subclassified in 4 groups, depending on the semantic type of the predicative noun; (iii) the verb as a fixed element, in idioms or in proverbs; and (iv) support verb, which is selected by a predicative noun. The first part of this thesis analyzes the constructions with the verb dar as a full verb, as a causative operator verb and as a fixed verb. The second part of this thesis debribes the support verb constructions (SVC), which are formed by the support verb dar (Vsup) and the predicative noun (Npred). This description is extensive, considering all the occurrences in the corpus adopted and identifying the main formal, distributional and transformational SVC properties. These properties were described and formalized in a Lexicon-Grammar table, which is a binary matrix: each line corresponds to a lexical entry (Npred) and each column corresponds to a syntactic property of the construction. In the intersection between each line and each column, we sign “+” or “-”, respectively, if the property is verified or not. The third part of the thesis presents an automatic syntactic analysis of SVC, by using an approach based in dependency rules between its constituents. The rules are automatically generated from the L-G matrix data and, then, those rules are used by the parser in order to extract the dependency between the Npred and the Vsup. Thus, this work aims to advance the state of the art of the general verbal classification in Portuguese and Automatic Processing of Natural Languages, to contribute to the development of computational-lexical resources (the Lexicon-Grammar of nominal constructions) and with automatic parsing.
Esta tese parte da observação das construções com o verbo dar em corpus em Português Brasileiro e propõe uma análise e classificação dessas construções, de forma sistemática e consistente, com base na Gramática Transformacional de operadores (HARRIS, 1964; HARRIS, 1978) e no modelo teórico-metodológico do Léxico-Gramática (GROSS, 1975; GROSS, 1981). Ambas as teorias adotam critérios formais/estruturais e procedimentos experimentais reprodutíveis para a identificação das frases de base e que adotamos para a classificação das construções com o verbo dar. A classificação dessas construções foi baseada em suas estruturas e propriedades sintáticas, tendo sido identificadas quatro categorias ou tipos de construções fundamentais em que esse verbo ocorre: (i) verbo pleno (distribucional), de onde se identificam 8 sentidos diferentes; (ii) verbo-operador causativo; (iii) o verbo constituinte de uma frase fixa, seja em expressões cristalizadas seja em provérbios; e (iv) verbo-suporte, um tipo particular de auxiliar que é selecionado por um nome predicativo. A primeira parte da tese analisa os três primeiros tipos sintático-semânticos do verbo dar (pleno, causativo e fixo). A segunda parte da tese analisa e descreve as construções com verbo-suporte (CVS), formadas pelo verbo-suporte (Vsup) dar e um nome predicativo (Npred). Essa descrição é sistemática, buscando recensear o máximo possível de construções em corpus e identificando as principais propriedades formais, distribucionais e transformacionais das CVS. As propriedades são formalizadas por meio de uma matriz de dados, a qual representa de maneira compacta a informação linguística relevante para a descrição dessas construções. A terceira parte da tese apresenta uma proposta de análise sintática automática das CVS, usando uma abordagem baseada em regras de dependência entre seus constituintes. As regras são geradas automaticamente a partir das informações constantes na matriz do L-G e, em seguida, são usadas pelo analisador sintático automático para extrair uma dependência entre o Npred e o Vsup ao identificar a CVS. Assim, este trabalho objetiva avançar o estado da arte da classificação geral dos verbos em Português e do Processamento Automático de Línguas Naturais, no sentido de contribuir com o desenvolvimento de recursos léxico-computacionais (o Léxico-Gramática das construções nominais) para a tarefa de análise sintática automática.

L'obiettivo di questo elaborato è quello di far conoscere meglio ai lettori italiani l'autore svizzero Peter Bichsel. In questo elaborato vengono trattate in particolare le traduzioni di alcune rubriche (Kolumnen)dal libro Über das Wetter reden. Quest'ultimo contiene una raccolta di rubriche scritte da Bichsel, i cui temi sono molto vari. Sono argomenti tratti dalla vita quotidiana. Infatti, l'autore riflette su tematiche quali: lo sport, la politica, esperienze personali, aspetti culturali ecc. Peter Bichsel utilizza nelle sue rubriche anche termini propri del tedesco svizzero, per mettere in risalto alcuni aspetti della cultura svizzera, che io ho approfondito in questo elaborato. Un altro aspetto fondamentale è la semplicità di queste rubriche, anche ognuna è portatrice di un messaggio. L'intento di Peter Bichsel è quello di indurre il lettore a riflettere su determinati argomenti,suscitandone, ovviamente, l'interesse. Il mio scopo è quello di mantenere inalterato lo stile semplice dell'autore, in modo da lasciare altrettanto invariato il messaggio che si cela dietro a ogni rubrica. Un altro aspetto importante è quello del raccontare; nelle sue rubriche Bichsel racconta e anch'io, attraverso le mie proposte di traduzione, ho voluto raccontare la genialità di questo autore e la sua visione del mondo.

In a qualitative perspective, a methodologyof action research was used tocarry out acooperative research, inconducting focus groups-Gatti (2005) andGaskell (1999) andfor data analysis Moraes Discourse Textual Analysis and Galiazzi (2007) was used. The main authorswereDantas (2005, 1999), Rego (2008), Rey (2005),Chanlat (2007), Jesus (2000).The results showed that: perception of subjectivity exists behind the worker, and overcoming the dismissal of a sedentary lifestyle, the importance of peer relationships, the feeling of bliss and increased morale caused by the dance, the relationship between dance and life and the ballroom dancing as a promoter of respect from the link constituted by trust and self-esteem, encouraged by the self-knowledge.
O presente trabalho teve por objetivo compreender a import?ncia da dan?a de sal?o como possibilidade da qualifica??o das rela??es interpessoais na empresa. Como objetivos espec?ficos, pretendeu-se analisar as rela??es (intra) interpessoais dos praticantes da dan?a de sal?o na empresa e analisar a dan?a de sal?o como viv?ncia capaz de qualificar as rela??es interpessoais, promovendo novas possibilidades de interven??es na empresa. Numa perspectiva qualitativa, empregou-se como metodologia a pesquisa-a??o efetivada por meio da pesquisa cooperativa, na realiza??o de grupos focais Gatti (2005) e Gaskell (1999) e para an?lise dos dados, utilizou-se a An?lise Textual Discursiva de Moraes e Galiazzi (2007). Os principais autores utilizados foram Dantas (2005;1999), Rego (2008), Rey (2005), Chanlat (2007), Jesus (2000). Os resultados apontaram para: percep??o da subjetividade existente por tr?s do trabalhador, a destitui??o e supera??o do sedentarismo, a import?ncia das rela??es entre pares, a sensa??o de ?xtase e aumento da motiva??o provocadas pela dan?a, a rela??o da dan?a com a vida e a dan?a de sal?o como promotora de respeito, a partir do v?nculo constitu?do, pela confian?a e autoestima, propiciados pelo autoconhecimento.

Esta disserta??o apresenta um estudo panor?mico acerca da oralidade no romance africano, particularmente, na obra Niketche: uma hist?ria de poligamia (2004), da mo?ambicana Paulina Chiziane, considerada a primeira escritora de seu pa?s a publicar neste g?nero. Investigamos a forma sob a qual o corpo da narra??o articula as tr?s categorias que desempenham um importante papel para a sensibilidade e a percep??o do oral no texto escrito: a voz, a letra e o gesto. Pela natureza do corpus escolhido, tal estudo adentrou discuss?es acerca do papel da mulher enquanto escritora, tecendo interpreta??es concernentes aos discursos ficcional, hist?rico e cultural sobre a mulher e associando o espa?o da cria??o art?stica a um terreno poss?vel de emergir novas formas de representa??o para o feminino. Os instrumentos que serviram de base para nossas reflex?es encontram-se ancorados nas postula??es da teoria liter?ria em torno da oralidade, como os escritos de Paul Zhumthor (2000) e Hampat?-B? (1980), al?m das teorias de cunho cultural e p?s-colonial de Homi k. Bhabha (2003) e Gayatry Spivak (2010).
This dissertation presents a panoramic study concerning the orality in African novel, particularly, in the book called Niketche: uma hist?ria de poligamia (2004), from Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane, considered one of the first novelist from her country to publish in this genre. We investigated the form in which the narration embodies and articulates the three categories that features an important role to the sensitivity and the oral perception of the written text: the voice, the letter and the gesture. By the nature of the chosen corpus, such study permeated discussions about the role of the woman as a writer, weaving interpretations concerning the fictional, historic and cultural discourses about the women and associating the space of the artistic creation as a possible territory in which new forms of representation emerge concerning the feminine. The instruments that served as basis to our reflections are anchored in the postulates of the literary theory about the orality, such as the works of Paul Zumthor (2000) and Hampat?-B? (1980), as well as the cultural and post-colonial studies of Homi K. Bhabha (2003) and Gayatry Spivak (2010).

Abstract:
From the point of view of an animal welfare scientist, animal welfare science is seen as transdisciplinary as it establishes a conceptual framework, using disciplines shared by other scientists (e.g. physiology, anatomy, behaviour, nutrition and pathology). From the point of view of other scientists, animal welfare is interdisciplinary as other scientists collaborate in the field, bringing expertise in their disciplines. This thesis aims to contribute to knowledge by demonstrating the benefit of applying a coherent framework of epidemiological standard techniques, to address a variety of animal welfare issues. The objectives are: 1 - to explore the different epidemiological study designs and biostatistical approaches and put them in an animal welfare scientific context, developing a coherent framework of useful standard techniques; 2 - to identify, discuss and assess novel animal welfare risk factors in a full range of animal settings: production, captive, companion and equine. The potential offered by different epidemiological study designs and analytical procedures is explored and put in an animal welfare context. The illustration of this integration is made using the submitted papers and therefore the methodologies used therein are discussed and justified. The full range of epidemiological study designs is used with the application of several biostatistical approaches. This fulfils the first objective of this thesis. The identification of different types of risk factors posed to animal welfare (genetic, environmental, husbandry and management) is one of the advantages in the use of epidemiological approaches to research animal welfare science. The identification and discussion of risk factors in a range of species (farm, companion, equine and captive) after the research contained in the publications submitted with this thesis, fulfils the second objective of this thesis. Other advantages in the use of epidemiological approaches to research animal welfare science are also discussed: introduction of standardised procedures allowing further studies; use of complex and real animal settings outside the laboratory environment; and contributions to animal welfare assessment.

Durante o ciclo menstrual, o endométrio se torna receptivo à chegada do \"futuro embrião\". Estes eventos são regulados pela liberação de progesterona durante a fase secretória do ciclo, que aumenta a secreção do componente C3 do Sistema Complemento (SC). Neste período, também foi observado o aumento fisiológico da expressão de algumas proteínas reguladoras do SC (CRPs) como: C1Inh, C4bp, DAF, CD59 e clusterina, oque sugere uma forte regulação da atividade deste sistema, favorável à implantação e ao desenvolvimento embrionário. Modificações na expressão destas proteínas poderiam resultar em aborto espontâneo recorrente (AER).Neste trabalho estudou-se a expressão endometrial de DAF e CD59 noendométrio de pacientes com AER, durante a fase secretória do ciclo. Adicionalmente, verificou-se a ativação do SC através da presença do neoantígeno de C9 neste mesmo material. A casuística foi composta de nove mulheres férteis normais (Grupo Controle) e doze mulheres com AER (Grupo Aborto), todas analisadas durante a fase secretória do ciclo. A técnica utilizada para detecção destas proteínas foi a imunohistoquímica. O neoantígeno deC9 não foi detectado em nenhum dos grupos, tanto nas glândulas quanto no estroma endometrial. DAF e CD59 foram detectados tanto no Grupo Controle quanto no Grupo Aborto.Houve expressão nitidamente mais acentuada de ambas as CRPs, DAF e CD59, durante a fase secretória intermediária do Grupo Aborto, embora sem diferença estatística. Houve expressão para DAF e CD59 no estroma endometrial de ambos os grupos. Assim, os resultados deste trabalho apontam para a ausência do neoantígeno de C9 no endométrio humano normal e no endométrio humano de patologias como o AER. As CRPs, DAF e CD59, se mostraram presentes tanto no endométrio humano normal quanto no endométrio humano patológico por AER, com destaque para o aumento da expressão de DAF e CD59 na sub-fase intermediária secretória do ciclo menstrual, período crítico para a implantação, sugerindo que alguma alteração neste período possa resultar na posterior perda gestacional.
In the cycle menstrual, the endometrium becomes ready to the arrived of embryo future. These events are controlled by mechanisms like, liberation of progesterone during the secretory phase of cycle, that increases the secretion of C3 component of Complement System (CS). In this period, it was also observed the physiologic increase of the expressionof some CS regulatory proteins (CRPs) like: C1Inh, C4bp, DAF, CD59 and clusterin, a fact suggesting strong regulation of the activity this system. Changes in this regulation can be harmful to implantation and to embryonary development, causing recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). To goal of the present study is to evaluate the endometrial expression of the Membrane Complex Atack (MAC) of CS, representing by neoantígen C9, in the normal and patologic human endometrium with RSA during the secretory phase of the menstrual cycle and of the CRPs, DAF e CD59, in the patologic human endometrium with RSA during the secretory phase, contributing to better understanding of the CS regulation in the endometrium in no physiologic conditions. The study group consisted of twelve endometrial biopsy, during the secretory phase of the menstrual cycle, of women with RSA of no apparent cause, compared to a control group of nine endometrial biopsy, in the same phase, of normal fertile women evaluated to endometrial expression of the neoantígen C9, DAF e CD59 by the immunochemistry technique. Neoantigen C9 was not detected in any group, in the secretory phase of the menstrual cycle in the endometrial glandular epithelium and stromal cells. DAF e CD59 were expressed in both groups during the secretory phase. DAF e CD59 were detected more intensely during the intermediate secretory phase of the Abortion Group when compared to the Control Group. Meanwhile, it not detected any significance difference. There was expression of DAF e CD59 in the stromal cells to the both groups. In summary, we data show that neoantígeno de C9 isn\'t expressed in the normal and patologic human endometrium, and the CRPs, DAF e CD59, are expressed in the normal and patologic human endometrium, predominating in the intermediary secretory phase of the cycle compared to the controls suggesting that some changes in the implantation period can result in the future gestational loss.

Abstract:
While subject-specific research shows that the use of picturebooks in foreign language lessons is beneficial to the acquisition of a foreign language as well as to the development of visual literacy, there is evidence that the use of picturebooks in German as a Foreign Language lessons in Sweden is being neglected. The main subject of this thesis is to offer suggestions as to how Antje Damm´s picturebook Der Besuch can be employed in German as a Foreign Language lessons in Sweden in order to uncover and discuss different responses to the alien by the main character. The philosophical background of this study is based on Bernhard Waldenfels´ notions of alienness and the event of responsivity. A central line of argument is that the plural character of our experiences determines how the alien is perceived. Bettina Schröder´s work Bild(er)leser wissen mehr! Das Bil-derbuch als Vermittler von “Visual Literacy”: Eine Aufgabe für die Kinder- und Jugendbibliotheksarbeit? is not only decisive for the analysis of the visual elements of the picturebook but also for the design of a questionnaire that enables the thematic exploration of Damm´s picturebook during German as a Foreign Language lessons. By separately analysing the visual and the verbal elements of the picturebook as well as their relationship, the result of the first part of this work points out four approaches to the alien by the main character: isolation, elimination, ignoration (Weghören) and hospitality. Furthermore, the thematic analysis of Der Besuch makes it evident that picture and text tell the same story in their own specific and autonomous way. Based on the results of the first part, the findings of the second part suggest a guideline as how Damm´s picturebook can be used in German as a Foreign Language lessons. A three-phased model presents a set of example questions designed to enable the meticulous exploration of the theme when working with the picturebook.

But those years are comprised of days: days that wrinkle our brows, burn searing holes in our souls, and those days--filled with joy, terror, humor, fear, and exasperation--are the sum totals of our age. One Day. Some Day is a collection of short fiction that deals with the events of one day in the life of the characters. The titles of the stories reflect this theme, i.e., "Thursday's Child, 11 "A Measure of Days," and "One of These Days." I have endeavored to inject my stories with the emotions and experiences that comprise our daily lives.
