Abstract:
The synthesis of five chiral DBFOX (dibenzofuran-oxazoline) ligands with either aryl or benzyl substituents will be presented. The requisite amino alcohols were obtained with high enantioselectivity either commercially (DBFOX/Bn), via Sharpless asymmetric aminohydroxylation (DBFOX/Nap, DBFOX/t-BuPh, DBFOX/Pip), or via phase-transfer catalyzed asymmetric alkylation (DBFOX/MeNap). These ligands, complexed with Mg(NTf2)2, were used as Lewis acid promoters of enantioselective radical conjugate additions to α/β-unsaturated nitro-amides/esters. A summary of these results is presented and discussed. These findings led us to believe that our initial binding model between metal, ligand, and substrate was flawed. Thus, we figured that if we started with a functionality known to bind to both nitro groups and carbonyls, and then introduced a chiral element for control, we may be able to improve the beta-carbon enantioselectivity. We have tried to accomplish this via hydrogen-bonding ligands (ureas and thioureas). Initial studies on achiral versions of this concept are discussed.

This study is an effective comparison of traditional industry management in the PPP model, and analyzes the feasibility of OT replacing DBFO and TOT. This study used qualitative research interventions to perform literature analysis and expert interviews. The research results show that the OT mode instead of DBFO is different in the final purpose, and can not achieve the same effect of DBFO under subjective and objective factors. At the same time, there is a difference in the operational structure of the OT mode instead of the TOT mode, and the source of funds generated by the application of the OT mode becomes an important burden factor, and it is relatively necessary to operate in a sub-category.

Abstract:
This dissertation investigates the advantages of procuring capital-intensive infrastructure services via Public-Private Partnerships (P3s or PPPs) – cost and time savings and; innovation and high levels of efficiency – accounting for these advantages by reference to the underlying legal provisions and principles that facilitate them; and in this process highlights two significant directions in which Canadian P3 law, policy and practice has evolved – the enactment of P3 legislation and/or the formulation of non-statutory P3-related policy; as well as the establishment of legal institutions that promote and/or facilitate P3 procurements. The dissertation also addresses key arguments raised against P3s, by reference to aspects of Canadian law, policy and P3 practice. The research methodology comprises a detailed review of legal and non-legal sources. The implication of the research findings is that, given the foregoing developments in Canadian P3 law, policy and practice, the key arguments canvassed against P3s are overstated and lacking in merit.

Abstract:
Abstract Design thinking (DT) can be a valuable tool for nurturing problem-solving abilities in school children. The objective of the paper is two-fold. The first is to evaluate the effectiveness of the DT process as a potential tool for open-ended problem-solving for school children; the second is to test the effectiveness of gamification of the DT process in terms of the extent of comprehension and learning of the process enabled by gamification. The paper presents a framework for IISC, a Design Thinking Process developed by the authors, and compares two gamified models of the DT process against one another using empirical studies that involved school children in the age-range of 14 to 18 (8th to 12th years of their twelve years of school education) playing the games. Feedback from the students and their mentors during the game was used as data for evaluation. The paper also discusses the limitations identified and suggested improvements of the two gamified models, and implications of these for designing more effective games.
