A stand-level growth and yield model was developed to predict future diameter at breast height (dbh) distributions of thinned stands of mixed Appalachian hardwoods. The model allows prediction by species group and dbh class. Stand attributes (basal area per unit area, trees per unit area, minimum stand dbh, and arithmetic mean dbh) were projected through time for the whole stand and for individual species groups. Future dbh distributions were obtained using the three-parameter Weibull probability density function and a variation of the parameter recovery method. The recovery method used employ

Background and Objectives: The structural diversity of an urban forest affects ecosystem service provision, and can inform management, planning, as well as policy. Trunk diameter at breast height (DBH) is amongst the most common measures of tree structure due to its ease of measurement and strong relationships with other structural and non-structural urban forest characteristics. Materials and Methods: In this study, the DBH distributions of urban forests are summarised for 38 American cities with a combined population of over 30 million people and a range of geographic, climatic, and demograp

Abstract:
This special report reviews current scientific literature to identify the most commonly cited metrics used to describe the macrohabitat criteria important for Chiroptera presence in the United States. The review evaluates 69 scientific articles from 1994 to 2018. The most commonly cited metrics were divided into four main categories: tree-species-level metrics, landscape-level metrics, distance metrics, and topographic and atmospheric metrics. Of all metrics found, the top six most common metrics noted across all articles were percent canopy cover, diameter at breast height (DBH), forest type,

Vegetation communities are dynamic entities whose species composition, abundance, distribution, and structure are influenced by environmental factors and impacted over time by natural and anthropogenic disturbances. Determining trends in vegetation communities over time and identifying plant stressors is vital to understanding the ecological health of terrestrial ecosystems within SECN parks. Abstract:
The Philippines has been badly affected by the coronavirus disease pandemic. In this light, the analysis of the 2021 Presidents Budget determines how the pandemic shaped the budgetary distribution of governments limited financial resources with focus on the top six departments/recipients for fiscal year (FY) 2021. It shows the high spending priority given to social and economic services which is consistent with the policy pronouncements of the government for FY 2021. The governments greatest priority for FY 2021 is to sustain and strengthen government efforts in responding to and recovering fr

Abstract:
The Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) is a capital investment grant administered by the Department of Health (DOH) to help local government units (LGUs) augment their health infrastructure, including primary healthcare facilities, hospitals, and equipment. Over the past decades, HFEP has accounted for approximately 12 percent of DOH's total budget. Despite its scale and more than a decade of implementation, systematic program evaluations remain limited. We used a mixed-methods approach to assess the different stages of program implementation: planning, budget allocation, execution,

The goal of this research was to provide a better understanding of the interface between root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp., and their host in order to develop rational targets for plantibodies and other novel methods of nematode control directed against the nematode surface coat (SC). Specific objectives were: 1. To produce additional monoclonal SC antibodies for use in Objectives 2, 3, and 4 and as candidates for development of plantibodies. 2. To determine the production and distribution of SC proteins during the infection process. 3. To use biochemical and immunological methods to pertu
