Abstract:
The thesis describes a novel 4-quadrant DC-DC converter, supplied by a 28V DC voltage source, with an output voltage which may be continuously varied between +180V and -180V DC. A prototype 1.2kW DC-DC converter was designed and built, with emphasis given to the optimization of both the converter size and efficiency. This was achieved by means of a computer-based simulation study, which determined the optimal switching frequency and the size of the inductors and capacitors while maintaining a high unit efficiency. The voltage regulation has been implemented using PI controller. A gain scheduling control algorithm has been developed to select the appropriate controller gains with respect to the generator load. Further, a relationship between the generator loads and the controller gains has been established. This relationship has been modeled using adaptive control technique to vary the gains automatically at any load condition.

It propose countermeasures to improve the fan operating conditions with speed-feedback-control. In consideration of the weakness in current brushless DC fan control way, this paper will present a new control method to exclude the risk that may occur in fan operation. We use an 8bit single chip microcontroller as the alternative solution to control fan speed, current stability, efficiency and safety. This paper uses Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) in estimating speed and controlling it for a separately excited DC motor. The rotor speed of the dc motor can be made to follow an arbitrarily selected trajectory. The purpose is to achieve accurate trajectory control of the speed, especially when the motor and load parameters are unknown. Such a neural control scheme consists of two parts. One is the neural identifier which is used to estimate the motor speed. The other is the neural controller which is used to generate a control signal for a converter. These two neural networks are trained

The BLDC mainly uses inverter to substitute for carbon brush and commutator. Under the incentives of both energy and environmental protection, BLDC will substitute for DC motor and will become the drive component of high-efficiently environment-friendly product. In general, the BLDC can be divided into sensor drive and sensorless drive techniques. The sensor drive technique uses Hall sensors to detect rotor posi

A control policy which combines pulse-amplitude modulation with pulse-width modulation is proposed to control the input voltage according to the speed command for BLDC motor drives. A dc-dc power converter is designed to change the voltage from 140~200 to 24~48 volt. The BLDC motor drives use three hall-effect sensors to detect rotor position and calculate motor speed for six-step square-wave and closed-loop control of speed. In this th

The brushless DC motors have some outstanding characteristics, including high efficiency, high torque, non-commutation carbon brushes, characteristic curves which are like those of dc motors. Therefore, the brushless DC motors gradually be used in industrial and home appliances. Traditional way of brushless DC motor rotary angle is usually to

This PWM scheme not only achieves the BLDC motor using FSTP inverter, but also does not need any current sensor and complex algorithm, so it can make the lowest manufacture cost of the inverter. Furthermore, this dissertation proposes a novel commutation control for the FSTP BLDC motor drive without position sensor.
